2013 Hidden Ridge "55% Slope" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon 55% Slope comes from the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas Mountains. It is 100 % Cabernet Sauvignon from a vineyard planted at 1,700 feet. This is a remarkable wine and reminiscent of the great classics from the golden era of the Mayacamas on the Napa side (such as the 1968, 1970, 1973 and 1974) come to mind when tasting this beauty. It is simply loaded. Dense purple in color, the wine has notes of licorice, crème de cassis, Asian plum sauce, cedar wood and earth. Full-bodied, opulent and irresistible already, it is capable (becau ...Read More »

2016 Gundlach Bundschu "Mountain Cuvée" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend

Winemaker Anne Dempsey has been doing much lately to raise the profile of this popular and historic Sonoma Valley producer's wines. She calls the claret-style Mountain Cuvée a "stepping stone" to the winery's bigger Cabernets, and even Merlots! From the winery: "Mountain Cuvee honors the style and balance of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Sonoma County and pays homage to Bordeaux blends from France. We source vineyards from quality vineyards up against the Maycamas Mountain range to create balance in the wine, fruit, tannin and acid, choosing plo... Read More »

2014 Louis M. Martini Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the best values in Cabernet Sauvignon anywhere in the world remains Louis Martini’s Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County (89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot and the rest Petite Sirah, Cabernet Franc and other varieties) is just a beautiful wine. Dense ruby/purple with classic tobacco leaf, blackcurrant, loamy soil notes and a touch of wood spice, this wine (aged 16 months in French and American oak) has relatively modest alcohol for Cabernets these days (13.5%), and what’s even more remarkable is that there are 408,0 ...Read More »

2014 Olema Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points James Suckling: "A fresh and linear Sonoma cabernet with currant, berry and cherry. Medium body, firm and silky tannins. Excellent wine for the money. Go-to cab for the buck." (5/2017) K&L Notes: James Suckling calls this his go-to Cab for the money, and we couldn't agree more. As the winery explains, "the 2014 Olema Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes hand selected off vineyards in Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys in Sonoma County. This well-balanced wine features layers of juicy red and black fruit framed by soft tannins. 2014 was an excellent vintage for Sono... Read More »

2013 Louis M. Martini "Monte Rosso Vineyard" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An absolutely outrageous wine and probably one of the great all-time Cabernet Sauvignons from Sonoma is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso Vineyard Sonoma Valley. This is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the relatively recent Moon Mountain AVA, that aged for 27 months in 67% new French and 14 % new American oak. This is a wine of thrilling levels of intensity, with an incredible fragrance of spring flowers, blue fruits, black fruits, especially crème de cassis and blackberry, loamy soil undertones, and a touch of licorice and smoke. The wine is full-bod ...Read More »

2015 Louis M. Martini Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County is medium to deep garnet-purple colored with a nose of red and black plums, cassis, dried bay leaves and lavender with a waft of chargrill. Medium-bodied, firm and refreshing with compelling red and black fruit layers, it finishes long with an herbal lift. (LPB)" (3/2018) K&L Notes: Robert Parker writes: "This winery was created in 1933 (following Prohibition) by the Martini family. They are still heavily involved, but the property was eventually sold to friends of the Martinis, the Gallos, although Mike Martini still runs th... Read More »

2014 Anakota "Helena Dakota" Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Top Pick!
2014 Anakota "Helena Dakota" Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Dakota displays more blackberry, blueberry and graphite, with some flowers such as violets, notes of pen ink, a full-bodied, concentrated, succulent and fleshy mouthfeel, and a long, long finish. This is another 25- to 30-year wine." (10/2016) 92 points Vinous: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Dakota is a bit darker, richer and bigger than the Helena Montana, with a bit more savory character, but the two wines are not that different in this vintage. Sweeping and ample in feel, the 2014 shows the more virile side of Knights Valley. 92+ (A ...Read More »

2013 Arrowood Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Vinous: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (Knights Valley), all Knights Valley fruit in this vintage, is superb. Raspberry jam, spice, scorched earth, rose petal, cloves and new leather are some of the signatures. Knights Valley is often noted for Graves-like sense of gravel-infused minerality, naturally allied to a California expression of fruit. That is exactly what readers will find in the 2013. 2014 Mount Peak "Sentinel" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lastly, 4,750 cases were made of the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Sentinel, 83% from the Monte Rosso Vineyard in Sonoma and the rest from other Sonoma sources. It is a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petite Sirah aged in 53% new French oak. Again, ripeness is well-noted in the 15.7% alcohol, but there is not a bit of heat to the wine’s overall character. A wine of considerable stature, gravitas, intensity and full-bodied power, it is muscular, backward and somewhat primordial, this wine needs a good 1-2 more years bottle age and should last for 25-30 y ...Read More »

It delights in luxuriously bright acidity and a jammy explosion of blackberry, chocolate, clove and tobacco, the texture roundly approachable. (VB)" (12/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Counterpoint gives youthful notes of crushed blackberries and black currants with hints of cedar and dried herbs. 2012 Bedrock Wine Company "Kamen Vineyard" Moon Mountain Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

93-95 points Vinous: "An addition to the range this year, Bedrock's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Kamen Vineyard captures the essence of this rugged, hillside site in the new Moon Mountain AVA. Graphite, iron, black fruit, savory herbs and dried flowers all jump from the glass. Today, the 2012 is showing beautifully, but there is plenty of structure to support years of very fine drinking. This is the first year Bedrock has worked with fruit from Kamen, the vineyard owned by Robert Kamen and farmed by Phil Coturri. 2014 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 La Muse (2,800 cases) is a legendary effort. The wine offers an opaque purple color and a gorgeous nose of lead pencil shavings, blackberry, incense, Asian spice, cocoa, plum, and a touch of chocolate and barrique. On the palate, more cassis and blackberry come to the forefront. The wine is unctuous, with adequate acidity and a stunning energy underneath the massive fruit and body. This is a spectacularly fragrant and, at the same time, dense wine, with enough structure (somewhat surprising in this vintage) to last 35-45+ years. The final blend ...Read More »

Here the flavors are dark, rich and powerful, with tons of voluptuousness and intensity. This is the last year of the Kamen Cabernet for Bedrock. 99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A blend of 53% Cabernet Franc, 21% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Malbec, the 2014 Le Desir is monumental stuff that has a Château Ausone-like character that’s hard to describe. its vibrant purple color is followed by a to-die-for bouquet of blackcurrants, black raspberries, cedar, tobacco leaf, and charcoal. This gives way to a concentrated, rich, yet incredibly delineated wine that has fine, fine tannin, notable freshness and purity, and a great finish. (JL, Web Only-2005)" 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1995 Cinq Cepages is tasting even better than it was prior to bottling.
