2016 Gundlach Bundschu "Mountain Cuvée" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend

Winemaker Anne Dempsey has been doing much lately to raise the profile of this popular and historic Sonoma Valley producer's wines. She calls the claret-style Mountain Cuvée a "stepping stone" to the winery's bigger Cabernets, and even Merlots! From the winery: "Mountain Cuvee honors the style and balance of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Sonoma County and pays homage to Bordeaux blends from France. We source vineyards from quality vineyards up against the Maycamas Mountain range to create balance in the wine, fruit, tannin and acid, choosing plo... Read More »

2013 Hidden Ridge "55% Slope" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon 55% Slope comes from the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas Mountains. It is 100 % Cabernet Sauvignon from a vineyard planted at 1,700 feet. This is a remarkable wine and reminiscent of the great classics from the golden era of the Mayacamas on the Napa side (such as the 1968, 1970, 1973 and 1974) come to mind when tasting this beauty. It is simply loaded. Dense purple in color, the wine has notes of licorice, crème de cassis, Asian plum sauce, cedar wood and earth. Full-bodied, opulent and irresistible already, it is capable (becau ...Read More »

2014 Olema Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points James Suckling: "A fresh and linear Sonoma cabernet with currant, berry and cherry. Medium body, firm and silky tannins. Excellent wine for the money. Go-to cab for the buck." (5/2017) K&L Notes: James Suckling calls this his go-to Cab for the money, and we couldn't agree more. As the winery explains, "the 2014 Olema Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes hand selected off vineyards in Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys in Sonoma County. This well-balanced wine features layers of juicy red and black fruit framed by soft tannins. 2014 was an excellent vintage for Sono... Read More »

2015 Louis M. Martini Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County is medium to deep garnet-purple colored with a nose of red and black plums, cassis, dried bay leaves and lavender with a waft of chargrill. Medium-bodied, firm and refreshing with compelling red and black fruit layers, it finishes long with an herbal lift. (LPB)" (3/2018) K&L Notes: Robert Parker writes: "This winery was created in 1933 (following Prohibition) by the Martini family. They are still heavily involved, but the property was eventually sold to friends of the Martinis, the Gallos, although Mike Martini still runs th... Read More »

2014 Laurel Glen "Counterpoint" Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Blended with 10% Merlot, this wine sources grapes both from its famous estate, as well as from nearby Pickberry and Murray vineyards. It delights in luxuriously bright acidity and a jammy explosion of blackberry, chocolate, clove and tobacco, the texture roundly approachable. (VB)" (12/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Counterpoint gives youthful notes of crushed blackberries and black currants with hints of cedar and dried herbs. 2015 Smith Story "Pickberry Vineyard" Sonoma Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Vinous: "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Pickberry Vineyard is a total knock-out. Gracious and light on its feet, with tremendous character, the Pickberry will thrill readers who enjoy old-school California Cabernets. Bright acids and mountain structure from this hillside site on Sonoma Mountain give the wine a palpable sense of energy and savoriness to play off the dark-toned fruit. Scents of lavender, sage, tobacco and menthol linger on the super-expressive finish. What a marvelous wine this is. (AG)" (4/2018)

2015 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Les Pavots checks in as 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot and the balance Petit Verdot. It offers a huge nose of blackcurrants, blackberry, scorched earth, graphite, and cedarwood. Deep, rich, supple, and sexy, with a seamless, incredibly elegant texture, it builds with time in the glass and is a monumental Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Sonoma. (JD) 98+" (6/2018) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blended of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot and 7% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Les Pavots Proprietary Red Wine is scented of crème de cassis, blueber ...Read More »

2000 Rafanelli Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The Rafanelli family has been making wine in California's Dry Creek Valley since before Prohibition, though the grapes for this cabernet were planted in 1986 on a steep, terraced hillside behind the winery. Known for his "Old School" winemaking style, this is a savory, cherry-filled, unfiltered cab with earth, leathern and chewy tannins. Its intense, mountain fruit structure will have mellowed over the years, softening the edges for a beautiful glass at this weekend's dinner party.

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 L’Esprit des Pavots (47% Cabernet Franc, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot and Merlot) is a much smaller cuvee of 1,540 cases. One of the best second wines I have tasted from this winery, it offers up much of the same character as its bigger sibling, but softer tannins and a more near-term accessibility give the wine immediate appeal. It should drink well for 10-12 years. (RP)" (12/2013) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky violet color. 2012 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 La Muse, which is 85% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 4% Malbec, is a smaller cuvée of 1,840 cases. The wine has plenty of spice box, cedar wood, Christmas fruitcake and Asian plum sauce, along with black cherry and blackcurrant fruit. Ripe, round, full-bodied and opulent, this is a wine that can be drunk now or cellared for another three decades. Interestingly, the alcohol levels are not all that high in any of these wines, with most of them rarely exceeding 14.3%. 2014 Anakota "Helena Montana" Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014s are 30-year wines, even in such a supple, easygoing and charming vintage. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Montana has an opaque purple color, a beautiful nose of graphite, creosote, incense, blackberry and licorice, and maybe a touch of charcoal and earth. The tannins are soft, and there is enormous fruit as well as a deep, full-bodied mouthfeel and some coffee in the finish. It should drink well for 25-30 years. 2014 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 La Muse (2,800 cases) is a legendary effort. The wine offers an opaque purple color and a gorgeous nose of lead pencil shavings, blackberry, incense, Asian spice, cocoa, plum, and a touch of chocolate and barrique. On the palate, more cassis and blackberry come to the forefront. The wine is unctuous, with adequate acidity and a stunning energy underneath the massive fruit and body. This is a spectacularly fragrant and, at the same time, dense wine, with enough structure (somewhat surprising in this vintage) to last 35-45+ years. The final blend ...Read More »

Here the flavors are dark, rich and powerful, with tons of voluptuousness and intensity. This is the last year of the Kamen Cabernet for Bedrock. (AG)" (1/2015) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Kamen Vineyard was aged in 75% Taransaud and Darnajou French oak. 2012 Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon New!
2012 Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Wine & Spirits: "*Best Buy* Beringer has made wine from Knights Valley, northwest of Napa, since the late 1970s, and now farms 500 acres of grapes on the cobbly soils that have sloughed off of the volcanic hillsides above. This 2012 is a bundle of energy, the structure tight and stony, the fruit pure, its bold and refreshing black raspberry tone interlaced with aromas that suggest resinous pine needles and a hint of smoked tea. 2013 Sebastiani "Gravel Bed Red" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2013 Sebastiani "Gravel Bed Red" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Gravel Bed Proprietary Red is a Bordeaux blend which I assume is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon. It comes from the rockiest sites that Sebastiani owns in Sonoma County. This is a spectacular wine, with blueberry and blackberry fruit, some notes of gravel (as the name suggests), full-bodied opulence, and a multi-layered, almost skyscraper-like mouthfeel, yet it is light on its feet for such great intensity and richness. This is a stunner and another tour de force from winemaker Mark Lyon. This full-bodied classic should drink well for 25-30 years. If you haven’t noticed the qualitative efforts by winemaker Mark Lyon and the Sebastiani team over the last decade or more, it’s time to take notice. Not only are the wines realistically priced, but the quality is very impressive, and some great values can be found. (RP)" (03/2016)

A deep ruby/purple color is followed by notes of graphite, unsmoked high class cigar tobacco, black currants and flowers. This is no ordinary second wine, and it is probably inappropriate to even think of it that way as each of the vintages to date has merited an outstanding score. It is a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petite Sirah aged in 53% new French oak. Again, ripeness is well-noted in the 15.7% alcohol, but there is not a bit of heat to the wine’s overall character. Palate-staining cassis and kirsch flavors are framed by silky tannins and gain an exotic candied floral quality with air. For such a deeply concentrated wine, this is strikingly lithe and precise. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There is no question the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is the most backward and brooding of the wines I tasted from Pride. Firm tannins frame an expressive core of dark red berries, licorice, scorched earth, tobacco, smoke and incense. Today, the 2009 is far too young to offer true pleasure, but it is unquestionably striking. Hints of iron, graphite and smoke add complexity on the finish supported by huge mountain tannins. Reminding me of a top vintage of Ducru-Beaucaillou (the 2010?) with it’s incredibly classic Cabernet character, it offers thrilling notes of crème de cassis, exotic flowers, liquid rock-like minerality, and graphite and lead pencil nuances. Deep, concentrated, and backward, it has perfect balance, good acidity, and an undeniable Bordeaux-like weight and texture. It’s ...Read More »

1983 Kenwood "Jack London Vineyard" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1983 Kenwood "Jack London Vineyard" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Renowned writer and adventurer Jack London made his home in Sonoma County's Valley of the Moon, enamored by its beauty and vibrancy. Between 1905 and 1916 London bought up ranches in the western hills, including hundreds of vineyard acres first planted by Kohler Fröhling Winery in the 1870s. London's property was managed by his stepsister, Eliza Shepard, whose grandson Milo, replanted 130 acres of vineyards in the late 1960s. In 1976 Kenwood Vineyards became the exclusive marketer of wines from Jack London's property, and this 1983 "Jack London Vineyard" Cabernet carries the tradition of this unique and legendary Sonoma County property.

1993 Arrowood Sonoma Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 1993 Arrowood Sonoma Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Malbec) is available in extremely limited quantities (600 cases). It reveals an opaque purple color, a tight but promising nose of ripe cassis, vanillin, and smoke. Less flattering and precocious when compared to Arrowood's other 1993 reds, this wine possesses exceptional richness, full body, the winery's hallmark purity, and an inner-core of sweet ripe fruit, nicely buttressed by wood and acidity. The finish lasts for 35+ seconds. (RP)" (12/1996)

2001 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum of 2001 Vérité "La Muse" Sonoma County Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (100RP, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "2001 was the first truly great vintage for Jess Jackson and Pierre Seillan, and that is evidenced by the utterly perfect 2001 La Muse, a blend of 87% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Malbec. Over three-fourths of it came from the Alexander Mountain estate of Jess Jackson, and the rest from Chalk Hill, Knights Valley, and a tiny bit from Bennett Valley. This dense purple-colored effort exhibits notes of licorice, creme de cassis, plum sauce, violets and truffles. Full-bodied with magnificent density, overall equilibrium, stunning purity, sweet but abundant tannin and a fabulous finish, this profound wine remains a baby at age ten. Give it another 5-6 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 35-40+ years. It is very French in style even though one could argue that this level of concentration can only be achieved by a handful of wines from Pomerol and
