2014 Wines Of Substance Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The straight 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is outstanding. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, native fermented, aged in French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered, it’s a killer value that has lots of blue fruits, violets, graphite and leafy herbs in medium to full-bodied, concentrated, layered style. Savvy readers should buy a case of this and drink bottles over the coming 4-5 years, although I see no reason that it won’t keep longer either. A substantial change with the K Vintners/Charles Smith wines is the separation of the Rhone blends and the Bordeaux ...Read More »

It’s delicious and strong, with coffee, bitter chocolate and licorice lining the extended finish." (10/2001)

2013 Leonetti "Reserve" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend Back In Stock!
2013 Leonetti "Reserve" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend

94 points Vinous: "(14.6% alcohol; mostly from Seven Hills; 85% new oak): Saturated medium ruby. Less showy on the nose than the Cabernet Sauvignon, with brooding but very ripe aromas of black cherry, mocha, dusty rose and violet. Compellingly sweet and fine-grained, with deep black cherry and dark berry flavors complicated by an element of Belgian chocolate that carries through the very long, building finish. Tannins saturate the palate and cheeks. This is less harmonious today than the Cabernet Sauvignon bottling but longer on the aftertaste. Chris Figgins described 2013 ...Read More »

2006 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Bordeaux Blend Back In Stock!
2006 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Bordeaux Blend

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "...A fine introduction to the house style at a very fair price. Dark ruby-colored, it displays a bouquet of cigar box, pencil lead, violets, black currant, and a hint of licorice. Medium to full-bodied, intensely fruited, and with enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years, this lengthy effort will drink well from 2011 to 2018. (JM)" (10/2009) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(a Bordeaux blend based on 77% Cabernet Sauvignon) Good deep ruby-red. Nose dominated by cassis, mocha and nutty oak. Broad, lush and sweet; more red than black in its fruit character than this producer's other 2006s, ...Read More »

2010 Quilceda Creek "Galitzine Vineyard" Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Quilceda Creek "Galitzine Vineyard" Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (97RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even more concentrated, structured and dense than the Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard (99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot all from the Red Mountain AVA) delivers an incredible array of black currant, dark chocolate, cedar, tobacco and assorted spring flower-like nuances that give way to a massively concentrated, tannic and structured 2010 that has brilliant mid-palate depth, integrated acidity and a pure, detailed and energetic texture that carries through the finish. As with the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, this is more fun to taste than to drink presently and needs 5-6 years or more of bottle age to round into form. It too will have two to three decades or more of ultimate longevity. (JD)" (06/2013)

2011 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 95VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More serious, and one of the wines of the vintage, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) has uncommon concentration and depth in the vintage, as well as a broad, structured profile that will allow it to age gracefully. Loaded with sweet creme de cassis, exotic spice, licorice and graphite, it’s a full-bodied, elegant and classically styled effort that has nothing out of place, fine, building tannin and a rock star finish. It will be approachable at an earlier stage than most vintages, yet still have two decades of longevity. (JD)" (06/2014)

2011 Quilceda Creek "Galitzine Vineyard" Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Quilceda Creek "Galitzine Vineyard" Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard comes all from the Golitzin’s Red Mountain vineyard and is almost all Cabernet Sauvignon. One of the richest and most concentrated wines in the vintage, it offer fabulous creme de cassis, black raspberry, graphite, toast and licorice aromas and flavors to go with a full-bodied, seamless and beautifully balanced profile on the palate. As expected, it doesn’t have the sheer wealth of material that’s present in the prior vintages, yet everything is perfectly proportioned, it has excellent mid-palate depth and notable, sweet tannin. It benefits from a decant and will have upwards of two decades of longevity. (JD)" (06/2014)

2009 Leonetti "Reserve" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Leonetti "Reserve" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend (95RP, 94ST, 94WE, 93W&S, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Ripe, lightly-confitured cassis and mulberry are mingled with toasted nuts, peat, and dark Burley tobacco. High-toned suggestions of camphor, mint, and gentian distillate emerge with aeration. The amplitude and sheer fruit intensity here comes along with a palpable if well-coated tannic undergirding; and the finish splendidly soothes and sustains. The longer this was open to the air, the greater its appeal; and I'm only sorry I could not follow it for a second day. Look for at least 15 years of profound pleasure not to mention persistent contrast with the corresponding Cabernet bottling. (DS)" (12/2012)

2014 Cayuse "Camaspelo" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend Back In Stock!
2014 Cayuse "Camaspelo" Walla Walla Valley Bordeaux Blend

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made from 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot that’s aging in 30% new French oak puncheons, the 2014 Camaspelo offers lots of cherry pit, black and blue fruits, violets and spice characteristics in a full-bodied, silky, polished style. It shows a touch of graphite with time in the glass, has building tannin and will keep for two decades. Looking at these latest releases from Cayuse, the 2013s are surprisingly elegant and silky, with less overall concentration and depth than I expected after tasting them from barrel last year. They possess slightly ligh ...Read More »

2008 Corliss Estates Columbia Valley Red Wine

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Just about as good, the Bordeaux blend 2008 Corliss (formerly reviewed as Red Wine) is comprised of 34% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec that spent 30 months in 65% new French oak. Almost a meal on its own, it has full, rich aromas and flavors of currants, smoked herbs, milk chocolate and potpourri to go with a full-bodied, beautifully textured and balanced palate. Youthfully structured and tannic, it needs another 1-2 years of bottle age and will keep for 10-15 years. Drink 2015-2023."
