2015 Lewis Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon New!
2015 Lewis Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

This is one of K&L's favorite Napa producers, and these folks know their Cabernet. Lewis says that their 2015 is "like an Aston Martin V-12" and that it is "a silky powerhouse of fruit at wide-open-throttle. Black currant, plum and juicy ripe berries rev freely on the palate with seductive oak spice, candle wax and semi-sweet chocolate aromas. Fine-tuned and polished, the wine is deceptively powerful with supple, sweeping tannins."

2008 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (375ml)

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made in a more masculine style, the 2008 Dominus has all of that along with bigger body and more structure, fat, density and texture. Both are brilliant wines and they represent the finest back-to-back vintages for Dominus since 2001 and 2002 or 1990 and 1991. Both the 2007 and 2008 Dominus should drink well for 25-30 years. (RP)" (12/2010) 95 points James Suckling: "This is very pure fruit for Dominus. This will be interesting to see how it develops in the future. 2008 was a very small crop. Very perfumed and beautiful, with currants, flowers, and notes of mint. Full-bodied, with r ...Read More »

2014 Shafer "One Point Five" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon Top Pick!
2014 Shafer "One Point Five" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Vinous: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five offers up scents of lavender, cloves, menthol, licorice, spice and graphite. Savory, delineated and tightly wound, the 2014 is a picture perfect example of the vintage. Winemaker Elias Fernandez adds that the drought was more severe in 2014 than it was in 2013. This is another strong showing from Shafer. (AG)" (12/2016) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five shows beautiful purity, not the weight, profound depth and structure of the 2013, but it is still medium to full-bodied, elegant, graceful and a classic e ...Read More »

2013 Paul Hobbs Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $111+)

93 points James Suckling: "A fresh and clean Cabernet with lots of blueberry, mineral and stone aromas and flavors. Full body, firm tannins and a lively finish. Tight. Well made. Showing the Coombsville character." (1/2016) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Hobbs has hit the bull’s-eye with his selection of 2013 Cabernet Sauvignons. There are 5,800+ cases of the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa, which has some Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot in the blend. About 40% of this comes from their estate vineyard in Coombsville. 2007 Heitz Cellar "Trailside Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points James Suckling: "A wine with lovely restraint with plums, blueberries and hints of tobacco. Earthy. Full and silky and long. Lovely length. Juicy and delicious. Needs a year or two to come together." (4/2012) 92 points Vinous: "Still a young wine, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Trailside Vineyard is just beginning to show the first signs of aromatic nuance. Dark red cherry, plums, mocha and spices round out this nicely layered Cabernet. Racy, powerful and voluptuous, but with enough tannic backbone and structure to drink well for a number of years, the 2007 Trailside is showing quite well today ...Read More »

2013 Paradigm Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

Grown on Paradigm's Oakville estate, Paradigm has been made by Heidi Peterson Barrett since its first vintage in 1991. The simple approach of winemaking for Paradigm allows the Oakville terroir to express itself without heavy-handed intervention. The 2013 is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Heidi Peterson Barrett raves about it: "Another great vintage with the 2013 for Napa Valley Cab! 2013 Corison Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Decanter: "Top Five Wine of the Vintage: Beautifully perfumed aromas of rose petal, violets, blackberry, dark chocolate and incipient cigar tobacco burst from the glass in a striking array, the prelude to a wine that’s structured around refined, savoury tannins and juicy acidity. An ethereal and classically proportioned Cabernet which will age effortlessly thanks to its flawless balance, likely putting on weight with bottle age. Terrific stuff; not to be missed. 2008 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Red Blend (375ml) Back In Stock!
2008 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Red Blend (375ml)

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Monte Bello is striking. It is a decidedly muscular Monte Bello endowed with layers of dark fruit. Tobacco, mint, asphalt and crushed rocks develop in the glass, adding tons of complexity and finesse. A long, saline finish rounds things out beautifully. In 2008 the cold growing season stretched into October and the wine definitely has the feel of a cool vintage. The spring frost and the second year of drought conditions lowered yields significantly. Yields were just 1.25 tons per acre on average, but some of the older vineyards came in at less t ...Read More »

2013 Duckhorn "Three Palms Vineyard" Napa Valley Merlot

93 points Connoisseurs Guide: "This very deep and involving wine is definitively Merlot in its unwavering focus on concentrated black cherries, yet it is far more than simply fruity and reveals lovely, sweet oak support with gentle notes of fresh loam. It has plenty of weight but is carefully constructed and matches richness with considerable refinement, and, if it progressively firms and tightens a touch as it crosses the palate, it exhibits remarkable stamina and fruity strength. It serves to remind that top-flight Merlot deserves a special place in the cellar, and it takes its accu ...Read More »

2005 Heitz Cellar "Trailside Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points John Gilman: "The folks at Heitz are very bullish about the quality of the Trailside bottling, and given the quality of the fruit here, I can see why this is the case. But this wine has a bit of work to do carrying one hundred percent new oak, and at this young age it is still rather marked by its oak component on both the nose and (to a lesser degree) the palate. To be fair to this wine, it is three years younger than the ’02 Bella Oaks that was tasted alongside of it, and consequently it has had nowhere near the same amount of time to integrate its wood. 2012 Duckhorn Howell Mountain Bordeaux Blend

92 points Wine & Spirits: "This is a high-octane mountain cabernet, its sweet black fruit subdued by the richness of new French oak (95 percent of the lot), which works to tame its power and make it accessible in its youth. The flavors are dark in tone, from pipe tobacco to walnuts and soy. Decant it for an equally massive steak." (4/2017) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A big-shouldered red made predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon with a balance of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this wine offers bold, firm tannins and heaps of body. 2013 Frank Family "Reserve" Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Reserve is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petite Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Merlot. It is a terrific example of Rutherford viticulture, with loads of kirsch liqueur, crème de cassis, dusty, loamy soil undertones, spice box and Christmas fruitcake. It is dense ruby/purple in color and full-bodied, with sweet, supple tannins. Among all the Reserves from Frank Family Vineyards, this seems to be the most precocious and easiest to drink at present. 2015 Signorello "Hope's Cuvee" Napa Chardonnay

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The best Chardonnay I have ever tasted from Ray Signorello has to be the 2015 Chardonnay Hope’s Cuvée. With its tiny yields, old vines and unfiltered style of keeping the wine nine months in barrel (of which half is new French oak and the rest used),this wine is absolutely spectacular. The wine has a Montrachet-like richness with profound concentration from the tiny yields, loads of caramelized citrus, honeysuckle, white peach, melons and a touch of brioche. It is full-bodied, but great acid, purity and length make for an incredible wine from this old vi ...Read More »

With a huge presence on the palate that lingers and stays in one’s brain, it shows a reductive quality of toasted oak along with black pepper, bark and leather saddle,. It’s a wine to enjoy from a giant leather chaise, if possible. Cellar until 2023." (10/2012) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Dominus flows from the glass with layers of highly expressive fruit. The wine possesses stunning richness, power and depth. 2015 Prisoner Wine Co. "The Prisoner" Napa Valley Red Blend (1.5L)

A perennial, the 2015 Prisoner is a Zinfandel-based blend with the balance in Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah and just a splash of Charbono. It was sourced from well-known vineyards such as Somerston, Solari, York Creek and Hudson. The wine was aged in a combination of French and American oak before bottling. This eclectic crowd pleaser has found a following from lovers of fruit-forward and jammy wines, but it has enough substance to please those who prefer their California reds a bit more structured. It is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest tiny quantities of Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Carmenère, Petit Verdot, and a real head scratcher, St. Macaire. (LPB)" (2/2017) 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2015 Chardonnay Richard Dinner Vineyard is deep, powerful and intense. It is also one of the least expressive wines in this range. 2014 Darioush "Signature" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Here is a big, bold Cabernet that fits the winery model to a "tee," and, as usual, Darioush manages to successfully pull off the trick in going right to the brink of being too much of a good thing without going too far. It is not a wine of subtlety and detail as much as it is one of unbridled richness and depth, but it is, at every stop, a fully expressed varietal working that will never be accused of playing it safe. Needs two or three years to soften." (1/2017) 90 points Vinous: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Lyndenhurst offers lovely immediacy and intensity. Black cherry, chocolate, menthol and licorice give the 2014 much of its racy, voluptuous personality. This is a decidedly ripe style for the Lyndenhurst, as the wine feels slightly bigger and richer than is the norm. That said, the 2014 will drink well upon release. (AG)" (12/2016)

Grapes are from the sources normally used for the Special Selection, which was not made in '96." Of the 2015 Linne Calodo "Sticks & Stones" Paso Robles Rhone Blend,Rhone Report writes: "As to the 2015s, the 2015 Sticks and Stones checks in as an interesting blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault that saw a touch of whole clusters and aging in larger format puncheons and foudres. It offers lots of baking spices, dried strawberries, black cherries, charred meats and scorched earth in a downright silky, seamless, incredibly elegant package. It has fine tannin, but this beauty just glides across the palate, has no hard edges and a great finish. 2015 L'Aventure "Côte a Côte Estate" Paso Robles Rhône Blend

93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Leading off the reds from barrel, the full-bodied 2015 Cote a Cote (60% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah) has an elegant, cool climate feel (which can be common in the vintage) as well as pretty, elegant notes of violets, raspberries, peppery herbs and black cherries. The final blend will be a mix of roughly 60% barrels and 40% in concrete and amphora, and it should have a decade of longevity. One of the reference point estates in Paso Robles is unquestionably Stephan Asseo's l'Aventure. Located just off of highway 46, in the middle of the appellat ...Read More »

2014 Mayacamas Mt. Veeder Chardonnay (1.5L)

96 points Vinous: "The 2014 Chardonnay is brilliant. Lemon oil, white flowers, mint, almonds and smoke are all beautifully delineated in this transparent, super-finessed Chardonnay built on total finesse. The decision to pick a touch earlier plus the blocked malo style result in a focused, energetic Chardonnay that hits all the right notes. Every time I go to Mayacamas there is something new to see. The redevelopment of this historic estate proceeds at what looks like a very rapid pace, even if it will be many years before the results of the work being done today shows up ...Read More »

2000 Kistler Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

"It is easy to get excited about Kistler's Pinot Noirs.", remarked Robert Parker in 1998. "All are aged in 100% new oak, made in small lots (250-500 cases), and bottled with neither fining nor filtration. They are trying to keep the levels of SO2 to minimal dosages so the wines can be as expressive as possible. These Pinot Noirs can easily hold their own in blind tastings with the finest red Burgundies." More than a decade later, Parker's praise continues: "Kistler Vineyards, undeniably one of the world's finest winemaking estates, is run with passionate... Read More »

2013 J. Davies Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Vinous: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Davies is soft, juicy and open-knit, with soft contours, juicy fruit and terrific overall balance. Raspberry jam, spices and wild flowers all flesh out in the glass. The addition of 11% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot gives the J. Davies an extra kick of mid-palate juiciness and overall intensity. Here, too, the style is ripe and racy to the core, with all the elements in the right place. (AG)" (10/2015) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Combines a dense, intense core of loamy earth, black licorice, anise and savory blackberry with a measure of finesse and charm. ...Read More »

2001 Turley "Hayne" Napa Valley Petite Syrah

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Petite Syrah Hayne Vineyard’s black/purple color is accompanied by a compelling bouquet of black fruits, graphite, and white flowers reminiscent of a top-flight Hermitage. Tremendously rich, full-bodied, and viscous, with 13.2% alcohol, sweet tannin, and well-integrated wood, this profound Petite Syrah will be at its finest between 2008-2020+. This is truly magnificent stuff with great purity, length, and intensity." (8/2003) 93-95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated black ruby. Knockout nose combines dark fruits, bitter chocolate, violet, espresso and pepper. A sappy, sweet fru ...Read More »

2006 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Saxum "Broken Stones" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (97RP, 96WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Broken Stones (63% Syrah, 24% Grenache, and 13% Mourvedre) blew me away. An inky/purple color and a dazzling, explosive bouquet of black raspberries, camphor, cassis, forest floor, and spring flowers are followed by a rich, elegant wine offering laser-like precision as well as a striking minerality. It is a powerful yet graceful effort that should drink well for 10-12+ years. One of California’s super-star producers, Saxum owns one of the state’s most remarkable vineyard sites, the James Berry Vineyard, which has been broken into a number of different blocks, all planted on rocky limestone hillsides. This estate’s approach to winemaking is decidedly artisinal, with extraordinarily small yields as well as a minimalistic winemaking philosophy. (RP)" (08/2009)

2014 Bella Union Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Bella Union was founded in 2012 by the owning partners of Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel. The grapes are sourced from a 25-acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in Rutherford along Bella Oaks Lane. The Cabernet Sauvignon was complemented by 2% Malbec after spending 16 months in 60% new French oak. From the winery: "The 2014 Bella Union offers hedonistic bright red cranberry, raspberry, boysenberry, dark plum and earth aromas, married with vanilla spice, toast, warm caramel and coffee aromas. The palate expands with concentrated, dark red fruit, black cherry, ... Read More »
