2014 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) Top Pick!
2014 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley has a dense opaque purple color, a kiss of blackberry and cassis fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel with ripe tannin and a long finish. It is very Caymus in its immediate accessibility, but has plenty of staying power and depth. This is lush, full, intense and pure. Drink it over the next 15 or so years. (RP)" (12/2016) K&L Notes: The little brother to Caymus' famed "Special Selection" Cabernet Sauvignon, the winery's Napa Valley release has also been a consistent 91+ point wine in Wine Spectator for the past 10 years--although the... 2014 Kistler "Trenton Roadhouse" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (1.5L)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse is youthfully shy, offering glimpses at lemon zest, yuzu and grapefruit notes with a touch of crushed stones. Medium-bodied, very fine and elegant in the mouth, it has compelling citrus intensity with a touch of phenolic texture and minerals on the long finish. Kistler Vineyards remains one of the absolute benchmark producers of great Sonoma Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, sitting right up there with the highest quality examples of these grapes from throughout the world. 2015 Ridge Vineyards "Geyserville-50th Anniversary" Alexander Valley Zinfandel (1.5L)

95 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Sporting a deep mix of dark fruits that runs from cassis to blackberries along with complexing elements of cocoa and earthy spice, this year's edition of the Ridge Geyserville evokes all the accustomed richness that we have come to expect. It is a well-extracted and eminently ageworthy offering whose tannic, youthfully tight structure warrants a wait, but its astringency is never out of bounds and its insistently fruity finish is the hallmark of a wine guaranteed to repay five or more years of keeping with great dividends." 2013 Dunn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

98 points Vinous: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is a towering majestic wine. Rich, powerful and yet massively tannic, the 2013 possesses a stunning combination of super-ripe fruit, bright acids and plenty of supporting structure. In the early going, the Howell Mountain is a bit reticent, especially next to the Trailer, but after several hours, the vibrancy of the Howell Mountain bottling dazzles. Dunn's Howell Mountain Cabernet is without question one of the wines of the great 2013 vintage. 98+ (AG)" (9/2016) 95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain boasts ...Read More »

2013 Frank Family Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Made in sizable quantities, this impressive wine should please a wide range of palates in its mix of restraint and hearty structure. Thick red berry and currant dance around integrated oak and leathery tannin, building richness on the palate as it opens in the glass." (2/2017) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A beautiful elegance can be found in the 2013 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot aged 20 months in one-third new French oak. 2014 Frank Family Carneros Chardonnay (1.5L)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Plenty of exuberant fruit jumps from the glass of the 2014 Chardonnay Carneros. This wine was barrel-fermented in 34% new French oak, the rest in neutral wood, and all aged for nine months prior to bottling. It is a big, rich, exuberant style of Chardonnay - light gold in color, with nice pineapple and honeysuckle, good purity and a broad texture in the mouth without being heavy. (RP)" (12/2015)

(JL)" (7/2016) 92 points James Suckling: "The full-throttle character is here as expected with lots of ripe fruit and toasted oak. Sage and mint. Silky tannins; the ripe fruit dominates. This wine is aged 24 months in 100% new French oak barrels, and the production can vary from just over 10,000 cases to nearly 20,000 cases in a very abundant vintage. There were 12,300 cases produced in 2013, and this vintage of Insignia is certainly going to turn out to be one of the great ones. 2013 Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot (1.5L)

91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Very much on point with respect to its variety’s classic and close-to-succulent, dark cherry fruit but a well-balanced Merlot with a keen tannic spine and one that never errs to softness or loses its way to pushy ripeness, this continuous, nicely extracted version hints quietly at Cabernet in its solid, slightly tighter structure. It already shows plenty of depth and good range, yet it is bound to impress even more if set aside and given the chance to develop for another three to five years." 2012 Inglenook "Cask" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

95 points Wine & Spirits: "This is the wine our California editor Luke Sykora wanted to drink, and tasting it side by side with Rubicon, I had to admit that it showed beautifully. Cask is 85 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance mostly Cabernet franc and a little Merlot. In the past, the team at Inglenook described the difference between their two top Cabernets as Rubicon presenting the riper black fruits of Rutherford, and Cask focusing on red fruits. In 2012, the situation for me was reversed; Cask had the darker fruit at our tasting, still cool in tone and not heavily ex ...Read More »

2014 Tablas Creek "Esprit de Tablas" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L)

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the few times where there's almost as much Grenache in the blend as Mourvedre (Jason commented that the Grenache was just that good), the ruby colored 2014 Esprit de Tablas is made from 40% Mourvedre, 35% Grenache, 20% Syrah and the rest Counoise, and was aged mostly in foudre. It reveals solid aromatics of garrigue, black raspberries, pepper and violets to go with a medium to full-bodied, bright, fresh style on the palate. Again, there's some chewy tannin present, yet I suspect they'll round into form once in bottle. (JD)" (8/2016) 92-93 points Vinous: "(40% Mourvèdre, ...Read More »

Second wine from this new estate, which is owned by Christian Moueix of Dominus and Bordeaux. Release is March 2017." Made from a blend of 60% Zinfandel, 24% Carignan, 12% Petite Sirah and the rest Mourvèdre, this is a big-time winner in 2014, with copious quantities of juicy blackberry and black cherry fruit, some wood spice and loamy soil undertones. 2013 Chappellet "Pritchard Hill Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

This is a 40- to 50-year wine and simply compelling. Inky bluish/purple with a stunning nose of white flowers, crushed rock, blueberry, black raspberry and cassis, this is a great, great effort in this vintage, which is not that surprising, but this youthful wine still seems in its infancy and certainly has huge upside to it. The first release from Justin from this site, this beauty sports a deep ruby/purple color as well as a gorgeous, layered bouquet of cured meats, spice, mulled dark fruits, graphite and loads of this chalky minerality that also emerges on the palate. This wine is fabulous in the vintage, although certainly less profoundly concentrated and extracted, as well as structured, compared to the 2013, which was off-the-charts fabulous. 2012 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

"Blue Chip." That is always one of the phrases I use when talking about the Silver Oak Napa Valley bottling. Year after year Silver Oak produces some of the most reliably delicious wine that Napa has to offer. It might not be most "culty," nor the highest rated on someone's 100 point scale but it is always exactly what you know it to be: rich, powerful, heavily fruited, laced with spicy oak and full of structure but still enjoyable upon release. 2002 Marilyn Napa Red "Pose #2" 1.5L (OWC)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2002 Marilyn Napa Red "Pose #2" 1.5L in original wood. A chance meeting in Hollywood between photographer Tom Kelley and an aspiring but unknown actress led to a two-hour photo session on May 27, 1949 that made history and established Marilyn Monroe as the ultimate sex symbol of the 20th century. The photographs from the historic session became known as the "Red Velvet" series, each one a portrait of Marilyn Monroe posing on a red velvet drape. The first of these was immortalized as the centerfold of the inaugural edition of Playboy in 1953. The remaining portraits are the basis of Velvet Collection labels for these coveted, collectible wines. The wines themselves are proprietary blends of predominately cabernet sauvignon and merlot grown in Napa Valley. The 2002 vintage is available boxed in individually numbered magnums. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the perfect wines from Shafer is the 2007 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select. Think it over – in the first decade of the 21st century, Shafer scored three perfect scores and two 99s – that’s about as high a praise as I can give any producer in the world. Opaque purple in color, the 2007 has a stunning nose of sweet crème de cassis, black cherries, licorice, and toasty oak, a multilayered, full-throttle personality, and a texture that builds and builds. Great purity, fabulous fruit intensity and a richness without heaviness characterize this massive, prodigious effort from Shafer. It’s still very young, despite this vintage, which seems to be maturing precociously. 2012 Tensley "BMT" Santa Barbara County Syrah (1.5L)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Released only in magnum, the 2012 Syrah BMT is mostly Syrah, yet has roughly 25% of Colson Canyon Grenache in the blend. It sports an inky purple color to go with awesome notes of black raspberry, blackberry, liquid violets and wild flowers. This flows to a full-bodied, layered and seamless beauty that has perfect integration of its fruit, tannin and alcohol, solid concentration and terrific length. As with most 2012s, it’s already approachable and hard to resist. (JD)" (8/2015) 95 points Vinous: "Tensley's 2012 BMT is a blend of 75% Syrah and 25% Grenache. Dark red cherry, ...Read More »

1997 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 1997 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (95VN, 90RP). Vinous: "A deep, intense wine, the 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is rich and beautifully layered, with sweeping stature. Dark red cherry, crushed flowers, mint and spice fill out in the glass. At eighteen years of age, the 1997 tastes more like a ten year-old wine! There is no shortage of personality here, but readers need to give the 1997 at least another few years to allow some of the baby fat to melt off. This incredibly youthful Cabernet Sauvignon will drink well for another few decades. (AG)" (10/2015)

2008 Tensley "BMT" Santa Barbara County Syrah (1.5L)

97 points Robert Parker: "The 2008 Syrah B.M.T. (76% Syrah and 24% Grenache) is a blend of fruit from the Tierra Alta Vineyard (50%), the Turner Vineyard (25%), and Colson Canyon (25%). Given how light the 2008 Grenache Colson Canyon is, I assume most of the finest Grenache fruit went into this B.M.T. blend as it is a killer wine. An opaque purple color is followed by sweet black raspberry, kirsch, lavender, licorice, and chalky/mineral notes. Full-bodied, exuberant, and bigger than life with tremendous purity and a terrific texture as well as finish, th... Read More »

1997 Heitz Cellar "Bella Oaks" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 1997 Heitz Cellar "Bella Oaks" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (90WS). Wine Spectator: " *Highly Recommended* Deftly balanced, with pretty currant, floral, black cherry and blackberry flavors that pick up anise, cedar and spice nuances. Shows a trace of heat on the finish. Missed out on 1997's? This is a welcome edition. A big, yet gentle, Rutherford Cabernet. " (06/2002)

2009 Tensley "OGT" Santa Barbara County Syrah (1.5L)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Joey Tensley’s 2009 OGT Syrah is another beautiful wine. A blend of fruit from Colson Canyon (50%), Turner (25%) and Thompson (25%), it bursts from the glass with dark fruit, leather, smoke, incense and tobacco. The OGT has an inner strength and steeliness that is impossible to miss. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021." (8/2012) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Rich, intense and complex, with a range of loamy earth, dried currant, wild berry and cranberry that have a spicy black licorice edge. Ends with chewy tannins. Best from 2012 through 2020. 195 cases made. (Web-2011)" K&L Notes: A club-only wine fr... Read More »

1996 Bacio Divino Napa Valley Red Blend (1.5L)

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A terrific offering from this producer, the 1996 Bacio Divino (a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Sangiovese, 9% Petite Sirah, and 8% Merlot) offers a spicy, oaky nose with notions of jammy cassis, strawberries, and cherries. Full-bodied and complex, with a dominant black fruit element upstaging the new oak nuances, this fleshy, ostentatious, pure, gorgeously seductive wine will drink well for 7-8 years. Kudos to wine-maker/proprietor Claus Janzen. (RP)" (8/1999) Wine Spectator: "At a good drinking stage, with mature herb, dried currant, mint and anise. Smooth-textured ...Read More »

2014 Aubert "Larry Hyde and Sons Vineyard" Carneros Chardonnay(1.5L)

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Chardonnay Larry Hyde and Sons is a bigger wine, no doubt the alcohol slightly higher, but the acids are present. The wine reveals terrific white peach and honeysuckle notes along with some quince and marmalade. Rich, full, powerful and long, it is a stunner that should drink well for 10-15 years." (12/2015) 95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Chardonnay Larry Hyde and Sons opens with strikingly beautiful aromatics. Sensual, layered and polished, the Hyde boasts fabulous purity, nuance and class. Apricot pit, honey, candied lemon, crème brulee, wild flowers, mint and lightl ...Read More »

2014 Aubert "Sugar Shack Estate" Napa Valley Chardonnay (1.5L) (Previously $400)

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another stunner is the 2014 Chardonnay Sugar Shack. This wine, which was harvested August 18, 2014, was one of the earliest picks Mark Aubert had ever done. The wine offers up great fruit, which includes notes of pineapple, green apple, honeysuckle and peach marmalade. It is full-bodied with exceptional purity, lingering across the palate. Drink it over the next 7-12 years. This is the only vineyard for Chardonnay that he has in Napa Valley. (RP)" (10/2016) 95 points Vinous: "One of the most flamboyant, exotic wines in this range, the 2014 Chardonnay Sugar Shack wraps around ...Read More »

2010 Schrader "Old Sparky" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Old Sparky, made from clone 4, 6 and 337, displays a dense opaque purple color as well as an incredible nose of graphite, cedarwood, incense, licorice, Christmas fruitcake, vanillin and abundant blackberry and black currant liqueur. Gorgeously rich and textured with a nearly endless finish, this super intense, full throttle wine needs 5-7 years of bottle age and should drink well over the following 25-30 years. It was aged 20 months in 100% new oak barrels. (RP)" (10/2013) 98 points Vinous: "he 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon ...Read More »
