2012 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

"Blue Chip." That is always one of the phrases I use when talking about the Silver Oak Napa Valley bottling. Year after year Silver Oak produces some of the most reliably delicious wine that Napa has to offer. It might not be most "culty," nor the highest rated on someone's 100 point scale but it is always exactly what you know it to be: rich, powerful, heavily fruited, laced with spicy oak and full of structure but still enjoyable upon release. Perfect for gifts, important client meetings, special dinners and a great mid-term wine for any smart collecto... Read More »

2014 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) Top Pick!
2014 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley has a dense opaque purple color, a kiss of blackberry and cassis fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel with ripe tannin and a long finish. It is very Caymus in its immediate accessibility, but has plenty of staying power and depth. This is lush, full, intense and pure. Drink it over the next 15 or so years. (RP)" (12/2016) K&L Notes: The little brother to Caymus' famed "Special Selection" Cabernet Sauvignon, the winery's Napa Valley release has also been a consistent 91+ point wine in Wine Spectator for the past 10 years--although the... 2011 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

Wine Spectator: "Inviting aromas of plum, dried berry and cedary oak turn dry and savory. Very much in sync with wines of the vintage, making this a good, well made effort that's hollow at midpalate. Drink now through 2020. (JL, Web-2015)" K&L Notes: 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14.5% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 0.5% Malbec. 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Insignia (their 40th vintage) is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, and the rest Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. This wine is aged 24 months in 100% new French oak barrels, and the production can vary from just over 10,000 cases to nearly 20,000 cases in a very abundant vintage. There were 12,300 cases produced in 2013, and this vintage of Insignia is certainly going to turn out to be one of the great ones. 2013 Justin Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

Connoisseurs Guide: "*One Star* Fairly ripe yet moderately fruity with aromas of black cherries set against a creamy background of oak, this rounded, moderately full-bodied effort follows with easy-to-taste flavors that reiterate the inviting cherry-like traits of the nose. It is free of angles and edges with gentle tannins lending welcome finishing firmness, and, if never a wine that flaunts concentration and high extract, it is a well-crafted one with plenty of near- to mid-term appeal." 2014 Ridge "Geyserville" Alexander Valley Zinfandel (1.5L)

Made from a blend of 60% Zinfandel, 24% Carignan, 12% Petite Sirah and the rest Mourvèdre, this is a big-time winner in 2014, with copious quantities of juicy blackberry and black cherry fruit, some wood spice and loamy soil undertones. Full-bodied, fleshy and seductive, the wine is clean, pure, textured, and offers sensational drinking now and over the next 7-8 years. It's smooth in tannins and soft in acidity, with luxurious black cherry, blueberry, cassis, plum and new oak flavors. Drink now-2018." (3/2014) Connoisseurs Guide: "*One Star* Richness rather than specific fruit is the principal message of this fairly open and accessible wine, although it wears its high percentage of Merlot on its tactile sleeve. Prodigious when it hits the palate with a full-bodied expansiveness, there is not a hard edge to be found in the 1997, only velvety tannins, compelling depth and fruit intensity, and stunning purity. It is a perfect expression of Napa viticulture and wine that should continue to age effortlessly for two decades or more. 2014 Tablas Creek "Esprit de Tablas" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L)

It reveals solid aromatics of garrigue, black raspberries, pepper and violets to go with a medium to full-bodied, bright, fresh style on the palate. 2011 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)

94 points Vinous: "The 2011 Opus One comes across as quite powerful and intense. Raspberry jam, rose petals, savory herbs and mint, all come together beautifully in the glass. The tannins are going to need a few years to soften, but the 2011 continues to develop very nicely in bottle. This is a very strong showing, especially within the context of the year. A blend of 75% Syrah and 25% Grenache (from Colson Canyon and Rodney’s Vineyard), the 2011 BMT is flat-out gorgeous with its brambly, complex bouquet of peppered meat, olive tapenade, underbrush, plum and wild flowers. 2012 Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot (1.5L)

It is moderately tannic and just rough enough on the back end to dissuade hasty drinking, but at the finish, just as at every stop along its vigorous, well-focused flavors, deep and decisive, black-cherry fruit is its governing message and will continue to be for a good many years to come." 2001 Ridge "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

Interestingly, 60% of the production from the winery’s 108 acre Monte Bello Vineyard made it into the 2001’s final blend (their 40th anniversary, by the way). The unusual blend is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, a whopping 36% Merlot, and 8% Petit Verdot. It also carries 14.2% alcohol, which is high for this estate. This is a beautiful Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon. Layers of gorgeous fruit and some kirsch liqueur followed by blacker currants and plums jump from the glass of this opaque ruby/purple-colored wine. The BMT wraps around the palate with serious intensity. Layers of fruit continue to build as the wine flows through to its vibrant, perfumed finish. 2012 Iron Horse "Winter's Cuvée" Green Valley of Russian River Valley Brut Sparkling Wine (1.5L)

The Winter's Cuvée is an ever so slightly sweeter blend that's warmed up with just a dash of estate Pinot Noir brandy that the Sterlings made way back in the late 1980s. The elegant way to enjoy a winter warmer on frosty nights.

2004 Schrader "Old Sparky" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2004 Schrader "Old Sparky" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (98RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Old Sparky is made from clones 4, 6 and 337, the same as the Schrader, and comes from the Beckstoffer To Kalon vineyard as well. It tips the scales at the highest alcohol for them – 14.7%. It was aged 20 months in 80% Darnajou and 20% Taransaud and there are only 100 cases. This is a spectacular wine that is very sexy and forward, with great creme de cassis, and blackberry fruit intermixed with hints of coffee, unsmoked cigar tobacco, licorice and graphite. Full-bodied and layered, it is a sensational wine to drink now and over the next 20-25 years. (RP)" (02/2014)

2012 Tensley "OGT" Santa Barbara County Syrah 1.5L(torn label)

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Slightly more structured and restrained, the 2012 OGT is another stunning, full-bodied effort that gives up plum, black raspberry, creamy licorice and spring flower aromas and flavor. Finishing with serious length and sweet tannin, it should be a mid- to upper- ninety scoring effort that will make eyes roll back in their heads for upwards of 15 years or more. Drink 2014-2026. (JD)" (8/2013) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(in magnum) Glass-staining ruby. A heady, exotic perfume brings forth candied black and blue fruits, incense and blood orange. Sappy, deeply concentrated blueberry an ...Read More »

2008 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (1.5L) (bin soiled label)

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made in a more masculine style, the 2008 Dominus has all of that along with bigger body and more structure, fat, density and texture. Both are brilliant wines and they represent the finest back-to-back vintages for Dominus since 2001 and 2002 or 1990 and 1991. Both the 2007 and 2008 Dominus should drink well for 25-30 years." (12/2010) 95 points James Suckling: "This is very pure fruit for Dominus. This will be interesting to see how it develops in the future. 2008 was a very small crop. Very perfumed and beautiful, with currants, flowers, and notes of mint. Full bodied, with round ...Read More »

1983 Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L(high shoulder) Back In Stock!
1983 Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1.5L(high shoulder)

Wine Spectator: "Fairly supple for an '83, with true Cabernet fruit and more than a hint of herbaceousness, but it's attractive and worth drinking..." (7/1987) K&L Notes: "Thirty years later, the 1983 Jordan visually displays evidence of age with an opaque red hue, fading into a caramel rim. The nose delivers a pleasant concentration of prune and raisins with faint notes of burnt caramel and dark chocolate in the background. While the wine doesn’t attack the front palate as it may have in its youth, the acidity certainly still delivers a bright liveliness to the overall mouthfeel and... Read More »

2011 Robert Foley Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain (1.5L)

From the producer: "The 2011 vintage produced remarkable balance and maturity for our estate-bottled Cabernet. Inky dark in appearance, this wine's aromas and flavors of ripe black cherry and currant flood the palate with balanced natural acidity and gently gripping tannins. Seamlessly even across the mid-palate, this mountain Cabernet maintains an elegance all the way through the long finish with hints of black licorice. Delicious in its youth, this bottling will reward the enthusiast with bottle aging for decades to come."
