Wine Spectator: "Pure, rich and graceful, with an elegant mix of plum, currant, blackberry, licorice, savory herb and dusty oak notes. Very complete and easy to enjoy now. The tannins are chewy and gripping, but this one is ready and should hold another five years with ease.-2006 California Cabernet blind retrospective (December 2015). Drink now through 2022. 2006 Opus One Napa Valley Proprietary Red

95 points James Suckling: "Sage and mint in the nose, it is Opus style. Full bodied and layered, with polished tannins and wonderful length. This is tight, but fascinating still. This wine has a good future, very juicy, and will only keep getting better." (2/2011) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 comes across as a bigger, more structured wine than the 2007. The tannins are bolder, more dramatic, and more present. The wine displays impressive depth, not the velvety elegance of the 2007, but is a more muscular wine that begs for 2-3 years of cellaring and should drink well for 20-25 years. 2006&2007 Opus One Napa Valley Tasting Lot

Of the 2007 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Vinous writes: "There is so much to like about the 2007 Opus One. A wine that captures the essence of the year, the 2007 is exotic, flashy and striking. Kirsch, rose petals, pomegranates and spices form a fabric of compelling beauty. The 2007 is rich, sumptuous and generous, just as it should be. Threads of striking perfume are woven throughout, adding aromatic lift and pure sensuality. Readers who like more structured wines are likely to gravitate towards vintages such as 2010, but years like 2007 offer immense pleasure and an immediacy I find impossible to resist. A sumptuous, layered finish rounds things out in stunning style. (AG)" (06/2013)

Like a world class ballerina. It is held back and beautiful. Please leave this alone until 2015!" (2/2011) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Harlan Estate has turned out better than I originally predicted. 2006 Hewitt Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Hewitt's 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon is a large-scaled, structured effort displaying plenty of dusty, earthy notes intermixed with chocolate, licorice, spice box, black currant, and new oak smells. With an opaque purple color as well as terrific depth and intensity, this seriously-endowed 2006 will require some cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2035. 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Les Pavots (a 2,730-case blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot) exhibits big notes of chocolate fudge intermixed with dark berry fruit, forest floor, underbrush, and some smoky oak. The wine is full-bodied, with remarkable intensity, low acidity, and a fleshy, opulent mouthfeel. This wine should drink well for 15-20+ years." Finishes long and perfumed, with fine-grained tannins." A big heat wave in July was the salient weather factor in this vintage. The harvest began early and continued for five weeks. 2006 Etude Carneros Pinot Noir (Previously $45)

90 points and one star from the Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "Generous, outgoing scents of concentrated cherries make a fine start here, and only a hint of dried fruit holds it back from taking all the honors. Still, this is a deep, rich wine on the palate, and it has both a certain fleshy fullness and enough fruit to pull it off without being heavy or overdone. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (95VN, 94RP, 93JS, 92W&S). Vinous: "A dark, brooding beauty, the 2006 Monte Bello is still very, very young. The aromatics alone are enticing, but the tannins still need time to soften. The 2006 is a masculine, vertical Monte Bello that demands cellaring. Even so, it is pretty impressive today. Scents of lavender, sage, mint and savory herbs add closing flourishes. The perfumed sweetness of the fruit (one of the hallmarks of the very late harvest) remains one of the signatures of the 2006. Most of the fruit comes from the Stagecoach Vineyard and the Waters Ranch. Sweet, smoky, meaty aromas interwoven with melted asphalt, camphor, blackberry, cassis, and charcoal scents emerge from the complex aromatics. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied, displaying sweet tannin, a concentrated mouthfeel, and a long, heady finish with substantial fruit, glycerin, and extract. 2006 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon is stunning. A wine that is only now beginning to shed its tannin, the 2006 stands out for its vibrancy and energy. All of the classic Screaming Eagle notes are in the glass, but with a little more edge and cut than in most vintages. Sweet red berries, crushed rocks, flowers and spice box are alive in the glass. Over time, hints of sage, mint rosemary and pencil shavings add complexity. The 2006 is a decidedly cool-weather wine with less opulence than either the 2007 or 2009, but it is absolutely singing today. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Absolutely brilliant, the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon cuvee, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Solari Reserve (825 cases) has gorgeous notes of cedar wood, creme de cassis, creosote, and forest floor in its fragrant, full-bodied, velvety textured, opulent style. It must be considered in the running as a candidate for wine of the vintage in Napa. Just sensational stuff, this wine should drink well for at least 20-30+ years." (12/2008)

2006 Pax "Cuvée Moriah" Sonoma County Rhône Blend

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red. Strikingly fresh and pure bouquet of strawberry, raspberry and dried flowers; smells like Pinot Noir. Clean and brisk, with a silky texture, sweet red berry flavors and soft tannins. Becomes chewier on the finish but maintains admirable finesse and clarity, closing with tangy mineral lift. Pretty suave stuff. (ST)" (5/2008)

2006 Pax "Alder Springs, Emerald Pool" Mendocino County Syrah

Noted winemaker Pax Mahle sought to return to traditional methods for his Pax label (while his Wind Gap label is geared toward more esoteric varietals.) Working with distinctive organically farmed cool-climate sites, Mahle's focus is on small production, minimal-intervention winemaking, with native-yeast fermentations, and no fining or filtering. He seeks to let the terroir and the vintage speak through the wine. Alder Springs is a high-elevation, sandstone vineyard with a long, cool growing season.

2006 Pax "Alder Springs" Mendocino County Syrah

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The two cuvees from the Alder Springs Vineyard include the 2006 Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard, which is 100% Syrah with 75% whole clusters utilized. It is a generous style of wine, with loads of fruit that expresses the character of the vintage in its front-end loaded ripeness and headiness. Big, sweet fig, tobacco leaf, blackberry, and cassis notes with some spice and earth are all present in this beautifully rich wine. (RP)" (12/2007) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Opaque purple. Smoky cassis and blueberry aromas are complicated by cracked pepper, violet and dusty minerals. Juicy and s ...Read More »

2006 Sine Qua Non "The Raven No. 9" Grenache

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah, largely from the 11 Confessions Vineyard, with a small amount from Bien Nacido, spent 21 months in barrel. It is really strutting its stuff now, and showing even better than my original note predicted in August of 2009. The wine has loads of meat, licorice, smoke, charcoal and graphite, as well as huge peppery, blackberry and black cherry notes. Full-bodied, with great acidity, nicely integrated tannin, an admirable mouthfeel and tremendous length, this killer Grenache is still young ... 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Zinfandel Forchini Vineyard (14.6% alcohol) has a dense ruby/purple color, a fabulous concentration of black fruits intermixed with camphor, pepper, seaweed, and charcoal. It is a beautiful wine that is earthy, full-bodied, and impressively pure. (RP)" (12/2008)

2006 Arietta Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep medium ruby. Very dark, perfumed aromas of crushed cassis, blueberry, mocha and menthol. Dense, sappy and spicy, with terrific energy to the flavors of dark berry liqueur, game, licorice and menthol; I picked up a note of Cointreau. This superconcentrated wine boasts a generous texture but also has superb supporting structure and energy to ensure a long evolution in bottle. Finishes with big, broad tannins and terrific length. (ST)" (5/2009) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Earthy spice, sage and savory dried berry flavors are full-bodied and well-crafted, tightly wound and appropria ...Read More »

2006 Carlisle Yorkville Highlands Petite Sirah

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Petite Sirah from the Yorkville Highlands is black/purple to the rim, with an exceptional nose of blueberry and blackberry liqueur intermixed with incense and a perfumed spring flower garden note. Huge, rich, and full, this is a great wine with terrific intensity, length, and purity. Mike Officer deserves huge accolades for these extraordinary wines, and I can’t recommend them highly enough." (12/2007) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Opaque purple. Powerfully scented nose offers ripe blackberry, blueberry, cured tobacco and espresso. Round, sappy and chewy, with velvety dark ber ...Read More »

2006 Crocker & Star "Stone Place" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Stone Place possesses some obvious minerality, a boatload of tannins, and more austerity. Nevertheless, it is packed and stacked with black fruits given the fact that it is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. (RP)" (12/2009) K&L Notes: Crocker & Starr's Cabernet Sauvignon is made from old, heritage clone estate vines which are sustainably and organically farmed.

2006 Pax "Castelli-Knight Ranch" Russian River Valley Syrah

2006 was Pax Mahle's last vintage with the winery (he has since gone on to found Wind Gap, also focusing on Rhône varieties). The Castelli-Knight Ranch is one of the Pax sites that produces the ripest grapes and wines with the biggest punch.
