2007 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml)

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the finest Private Reserves made over the last two decades, this phenomenal wine is obviously still an infant in terms of development, but it exhibits a dense purple color as well as an extraordinary nose of blackberries, white chocolate, licorice, tobacco leaf, smoky barbecue, charcoal and a burning ember-like note reminiscent of a Graves from Bordeaux. A dense, luscious, full-bodied, opulent style, with sweet tannin, this locked and loaded, intense, full throttle Private Reserve should be accessible in 5-6 years and last for 25-30. 2007 Provenance Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This beautiful Bordeaux blend is based mostly on Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s likeable now for the soft, refined texture and luscious flavors of tart cherry candy, accented with nearly half new oak. Shows real balance and flair, from a winery known for objective pricing. Now 2013." (01/10) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Aromas of fresh earth and mineral are taut and firm on the palate, with dried currant, sage, cedar and crushed rock. 2007 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted too late to make it into the December issue, Merus’s 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits an inky/purple color as well as an extraordinary bouquet of blueberry liqueur intermixed with graphite, charcoal, cassis, and spice. The wood seems pushed to the background given the extraordinary concentration of fruit. Full-bodied, powerful, and rich with chocolaty espresso notes intermixed with blackberries and blueberries, this pure, impressively textured, long Cabernet should evolve for two decades. 2007 Rhys "Family Farm Vineyard" San Mateo County Pinot Noir

90-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Under the flagship Rhys moniker, the Rhys 2007 Pinot Noir Family Farm Vineyard looks to be a brilliant Pinot Noir from clay/loamy soils and sandstone. This Pinot exhibits intense red cherry and black raspberry fruit intermixed with some damp earth and forest floor notes. The wine is medium to full-bodied, elegant, pure, and just hinting at its ultimate potential. Backward, with an attractive acid profile, and sweet, noble tannin, this wine should hit its peak in about 3 years and last for at least a decade. 2007 Carlisle "Rosella's Vineyard" Santa Lucia Highlands Syrah

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky ruby. Explosively perfumed bouquet displays red berry, cassis, violet, rose and white pepper scents, along with slow-building Asian spice and mineral qualities. Deeply concentrated red and dark berry flavors are alluringly sweet and pure, with candied floral and tangy mineral notes adding energy and complexity. Refuses to let up on the spicy, sweet, extremely persistent finish. This was fermented with 50% whole clusters, and it shows it in its spiciness. 2007 Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The dark ruby-colored 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa exhibits abundant aromas of earthy, berry fruit intermixed with black currants, tobacco leaf and spice. Enjoy this medium-bodied, supple, seductive Cabernet over the next 7-10 years. (RP)" (12/2010) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby. Medicinal blackberry and licorice on the nose, plus a whiff of band-aid. Densely packed and sweet on entry, then juicy and tight in the mid-palate, with a slightly metallic medicinal quality to the dark berry and bitter chocolate flavors. The edgy tannins call for at least 12 to 18 months of patience ...Read More »

2007 William Cole "Cuvée Claire" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

A fourth generation Napa Valley winemaker, owner William Ballentine, Jr. purchased a 19th century ghost winery in 1999 and since then had been crafting handmade Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay ever since. From the Robb Report: "Representing the fourth generation of his family to make wine in Napa Valley, owner and winemaker William Ballentine Jr. operates a three-acre vineyard in St. Helena that boasts a historic stone winery dating to the 1870s. 2007 Dana Estates "Helms Vineyard" Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

Abundant aromas of black cherries, black currants, cedar, spice box, and licorice are followed by a wine boasting terrific intensity, full-bodied power, and an expansive, long, savory finish with no hard edges. The integration of wood, tannin, and acidity is flawless. This is a riveting example of Rutherford Bench Cabernet Sauvignon that should age effortlessly for 25+ years. 2007 Crocker & Starr "Stone Place" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (375ml)

One hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in French oak, this 500- to 550-case cuvee from the organically managed Stone Place Vineyard is a dense ruby/purple color, with a classic nose of unsmoked cigar tobacco intermixed with blackberries, licorice, subtle barbecue smoke, and cassis. 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The phenomenal 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour is the greatest BV Private Reserve made since the 1970 and 1968. The good news is 11,000 cases were produced. The return of this superb Napa classic is fabulous news, and the brilliance of this wine is evidenced by its opaque purple color and its big, sweet, blackberry, cassis, subtle smoke, graphite, and spicy oak-scented nose. 94 points and a Cellar Selection, Wine Enthusiast: "Here's a Cab to put in the cellar. It's big and rich and frankly sensational, just massive in blackberries, currants and sweet dark chocolate. The tannins are fierce, but very fine, and the overall balance is impeccable. Too astringent now, even with decanting, but should easily improve in the bottle throughout the next decade." 2007 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (98RP, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I had always believed the 2007 Pinot Noir was the finest Helen Turley and John Wetlaufer had produced at their Estate Vineyard, but after doing this vertical and seeing the performances of the 1998, 2002 and 2004, that belief rings somewhat hollow. The still young, incredible 2007 has all the potential needed to achieve a three-digit rating in a few years. A dense plum/purple color is followed by notes of subtle smoke, barbecue spice, blueberries, red and black currants, flowers, and a smoky meat-like character that I first compared to the aroma of Peking duck. There is something exotic about this full-bodied, dense 2007. Young and vibrant, it should hit its peak in 5-6 years, and last until 2030-2035. This world-class, prodigious Pinot Noir is probably better than 90% of the red Burgundies being produced. 98+ points. (RP)" (06/2014)

It is full but not heavy on the palate and already exhibits the wonderfully lush texture of fine Pinot Noir. Deep and flavorful, open and quite accessible, structured for aging and able to be enjoyed today, this is a wine to be remembered. *Two Stars*" (7/2009) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Firm, tight, elegant and understated, this offers fresh, vibrant flavors of black cherry, wild berry and raspberry. ...Read More »

In the mouth, more white chocolate notes appear, along with meatiness and some silky tannins. Its great purity, density and richness make me think this wine could even improve a few points and flirt with perfection. This stunning wine should drink nicely for another 10-15 years. The wine itself is totally dry and silky and firm in acidity, yet soft in fine tannins. You might call it noble. It's eruptive in cherries, sweet smoky bacon, raspberry granola and oaky sandalwood. It rates with the best showing from the best Pinot makers in California, and this outstanding wine comes out at the head of an altogether remarkable class. It is at once deep and profoundly fruity with a lavish display of optimally ripe cherries and perfectly fit oak, and, although high in extract and muscle, it is uncannily well-balanced and never less than brilliantly controlled.
