2009 Kosta Browne Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid ruby. Vibrant nose suggests candied cherry, rose petal and smoky minerals. A pliant, sweet fruit bomb in the mouth, with fresh flavors of red fruit preserves and flowers. A refreshingly bitter herbal note adds complexity to the persistent, penetrating finish. This is already delicious. (ST)" (5/2011) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh, bright, ripe black cherry, raspberry and light floral scents lead off in this supple, fleshy, full-bodied red, which is complex and layered on the palate, maintaining its core fruitiness and gaining subtle touches of dark berry and spice. 2009 Palmina Santa Barbara County Nebbiolo

90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red. Vibrant red berry and cherry aromas are complicated by notes of zesty minerals and fresh lavender. Poised and focused on the palate, with energetic red fruit flavors joined by musky licorice and rose pastille. Silky tannins are smoothly folded into the spicy, energetic fruit, adding firmness to the finish." (11/2013) 90 points Vinous: "A rich, ample wine, the 2009 Nebbiolo blossoms on the palate with striking depth. Orange peel, leather and spices meld together in a mysterious, exotic Nebbiolo with tons of complexity. A slightly oxidative note lingers on the fini ...Read More »

2009 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Vinous: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is a relatively immediate Marthas, with a real feeling of mid-palate density and weight that is almost out of character for this estate. Sweet, silky tannins give the 2009 much of its succulence. Scents of mint, pine and eucalyptus wrap around the juicy, inviting finish. (AG)" (10/2015) Wine Spectator: "Shows notable herb, mint and bay leaf overtones, with a tight, dense core of dried currant and berry that is slow to open. This is very shut down for now, and should age for a long time. The flavors build on the finish. Drink no ...Read More »

2009 Lillian California Syrah

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky purple. Explosive aromas of candied dark berries, incense, violet and patchouli, with woodsmoke, olive and Asian spice nuances adding complexity. Lush, palate-coating black and blue fruit compote flavors are energized by bright spice and mineral notes. Picks up candied violet and licorice notes on the sweet, impressively long finish, which is given grip by late-arriving tannins. With its suave marriage of power and energy, this is built for the long haul. There's no way I'd have guessed that this wine clocked in at 15.2% alcohol save for its fr ...Read More »

2009 O'Shaughnessy Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2009 O'Shaughnessy Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder is impeccable from start to finish. It shows marvelous detail and completeness in its perfumed red berries, mint, flowers and licorice. Tar, ash and a host of other darker nuances add considerable complexity. This is a marvelous showing. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. This is a thrilling set of wines from the gregarious Betty O’Shaughnessy and her winemaker Sean Capiaux. 2009 Samsara "Turner Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Syrah Turner is a more immediate wine than the Melville, with more overt fruit and less tannic heft. It shows gorgeous purity in its fruit and fabulous overall balance. In 2009, the Turner Syrah is fleshy, radiant and full of varietal character. Chad Melville used 100% whole clusters here, but kept the new French oak at just 10%. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. (AG)" (8/2012) 93 points Vinous: "Inky purple. 2009 Mount Eden "Reserve" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay

95 points Vinous: "Mount Eden's 2009 Chardonnay Reserve boasts considerable depth and resonance. Graphite, smoke and butter add shades of dimension to the tropical, honeyed flavors. Even with its considerable oiliness and viscosity, the 2009 retains a gorgeous sense of energy. My impression is that the 2009 is likely to age at a slightly faster pace than some of the surrounding vintages, but in exchange it will drink well with minimal cellaring. Once again, the overall balance here is beyond impeccable. (AG)" (6/2015)

Exotic spiced notes linger on the finish. The 2009 boasts serious intensity, richness and depth, but it remains quite tannic and in need of further bottle age. The vintage saw both frost and drought, two conditions that are a little unusual in the same year. It has a slightly darker hue to its ruby color, more raspberry, boysenberry and darker fruits, and slightly more restrained aromatics. While it doesn't seem to be an ager, it's a lovely wine to decant over a few hours." (11/2012) Wine Spectator: "Presents a tight mix of spicy currant and black fruits, firm tannins and floral scents that end with touches of fresh earth and graphite. (JL)" (10/2012) K&L Notes: According to Napa lore, the spirit of George C. Yount, credited as the first person to plant vines in the Valley and for whom the town of Yountville is named, inhabits what has since been named the "Ghost Block" vi... Read More »

2009 Spottswoode "Family Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another super-impressive effort, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts stunning depth and sheer power. Black currants, pencil shavings, mocha, incense and melted road tar are all woven together gracefully in this powerful, opulent wine. The tannins remain firm, so another few years of cellaring is a must. There is serious density and sheer power to burn. Today the 2009 is a touch less vibrant than the 2010, but more overt and voluptuous. A brooding, muscular finish rounds things out beautifully. The 2009 is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% P ...Read More »

2009 Hall "Kathryn Hall" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Wine Spectator: "Ultrarich and multiflavored, with a range of deep, baked berry notes. Intense and focused, balanced and persistent, this ends with touches of red and black licorice and subtle, grainy earth accents and tannins." (10/2012) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall is one of the more subdued wines in this lineup. The blend includes 14% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec, which probably accounts for much of the wine’s personality. Sweet red cherries, flowers and spices are some of the nuances that emerge from this silky, polished Cabernet Sauvignon. As outs ...Read More »

2009 Araujo "Eisele" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard is one of the great wines of the vintage. It brings together gorgeous aromatics, juicy, expressive red fruit and silky tannins. Now seemingly past a period of closure post-bottling, the 2009 looks like a wine that will drink well pretty much throughout its entire life. The 2009 is a totally sexy Cabernet endowed with stunning depth and a rich, enveloping personality. This is pure Araujo and pure Eisele.(AG)" (12/2012) 95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red-ruby. Musky, deep nose offers crushed blackberry, cassis, graphite and coffee. 2009 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (98RP, 97WS, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard is a gorgeous, clearly California version of a grand cru from Burgundy, such as Clos Saint-Denis or Clos de la Roche. This deep plum/garnet-colored wine offers intense berry fruit along with forest floor, spice box, earth and loads of plum, cherry and strawberry notes, moving toward darker fruits, as well as earthy, autumnal, foresty scents. The wine is full-bodied, with great intensity, sweet tannins and good acidity. Drink it over the next decade or more. (RP)" (08/2015)

2009 Clark-Claudon "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Plums, menthol and spices are some of the notes that emerge from Clark-Claudon’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an especially soft, supple Cabernet that appears best suited for drinking over the next few years. Sweet, silky tannins frame an attractive, floral-infused finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. (AG)" (12/2012) K&L Notes: Clark-Claudon tends 17 acres of sustainably farmed vineyard on the northeast side of Howell Mountain. 2009 Robert Craig Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder is a big, broad-shouldered wine loaded with class and personality. Firm tannins provide the backdrop for layers of dark red fruit in this super-expressive, racy Cabernet Sauvignon. Tar, licorice, menthol, iron and smoke nuances develop in the glass, adding a sense of gravitas. This is a striking, totally beautiful wine from Robert Craig. The 2009 Mount Veeder is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. (AG)" (12/2011) 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full ruby-red. 2009 White Rock Napa Valley Chardonnay

From Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium bright gold. Lemon, minerals, nutty oak and spearmint oil on the nose, along with a suggestion of sake. Firmly built, with good zippy acidity framing the citrus, mineral and oak flavors and giving the wine a light touch. Fruity now, this will go honeyed with time in bottle." (May/June '11) From Wine Spectator: "Chablis-like, built on green fruit, tasting of apple, pear and melon flavors that are clean and vibrant. Medium- to full-bodied, ending with a citrusy and minerally edge. Drink now throug... Read More »

2009 Aubin Cellars "Verve-Stuhlmuller Vineyard" Alexander Valley Chardonnay

This is Aubin Cellars' first Chardonnay release, and there were only 92 cases made, so don't dawdle. It comes from the low-yielding, 40-year-old Stuhlmuller Vineyard in the Alexander Valley, and was fermented in a large wooden cask before aging in 25% new French oak barrels for six months. The wine is wondefully layered, with tart pomelo and tropical fruit aromas and flavors complemented by rich leesiness and a hint of toast. This has great texture, viscosity, and forward fruit without being one-dimensional. A very fine first effort, indeed!

2009 Kanzler Vineyards Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

94 points Wine Spectator: "A firm, assertive style, showing well-structured wild berry and blackberry fruit, with touches of mineral and spice. Very tight and closed, yet dense and concentrated, ending with a mix of mineral and ripe berry. Drink now through 2019." K&L Notes: This ruby-hued Pinot Noir is is already alluring, with rose petal, blueberry, spice and earth notes on the nose, but on the palate its firmer acidity suggest that it will get even better with air or age. Right now its dominated by blueberry, blackberry and plum fruit with a little orange zest and a smidge of dark chocolate... Read More »

2009 Kobalt Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon flows across the palate with waves of dark red fruit, spices and licorice. The 2009 doesn’t have the delineation or elegance of the 2008, but it is exceptional just the same. The aromas and flavors build beautifully to the big, seamless finish. Readers who enjoy full-bodied, hedonistic Cabernets will be thrilled with this effort. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021." (2/2012) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(from Coombsville cabernet; blended with 3% malbec): Saturated dark ruby. Cassis, blackberry, licorice and violet on the nose. Quite dark in character but s ...Read More »

2009 Araujo "Altagracia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Altagracia is a rich, textured wine layered with perfumed red fruit. Ripe, silky tannins frame the long, exceptional finish. The 2009 impresses for its breadth and volume, all while maintaining a very classic profile. The delineation of the 2008 is missing, but in exchange readers will find a soft, supple wine loaded with class. In 2009 the blend is 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Malbec. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.
