2009 Roederer Estate "L'Ermitage" Anderson Valley Brut Sparkling Wine

92 points Wine Spectator: "A luxurious sparkler, with toasty brioche, mineral and lemon brûlée aromas and rich, complex flavors of crisp apple and raspberry, showing accents of fresh ginger and spice. Drink now through 2017." (9/2016) 90 points Wine & Spirits: "The 2009 vintage grew lush Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on the northern California coast, and that vintage character defines Roederer Estate’s tête de cuvée: It’s broad and rich, its ripe apple flavor threaded with the toastiness of barrel-aged reserve lots, while a bright line of acidity gives it a healthy persistence." 2009 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Vinous: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is a relatively immediate Marthas, with a real feeling of mid-palate density and weight that is almost out of character for this estate. Sweet, silky tannins give the 2009 much of its succulence. Scents of mint, pine and eucalyptus wrap around the juicy, inviting finish. (AG)" (10/2015) Wine Spectator: "Shows notable herb, mint and bay leaf overtones, with a tight, dense core of dried currant and berry that is slow to open. This is very shut down for now, and should age for a long time. The flavors build on the finish. Drink no ...Read More »

2009 Williams-Selyem "Hirsch" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Soft and ripe enough to drink now, after a decent decanting, it shows pure raspberry, blueberry and cherry fruit flavors, subtlely accented with cola and baking spices, and all of it wrapped into thick but smooth tannins. Good as it is, it will gain traction over the next 15 years." (2/2012) 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Spicy red and dark berries and cherry-cola on the nose, with complicating notes of dried rose, white pepper and fruitcake. Light on its feet but very concentrated, offering powerful red fruit and floral pastille flavors that expand in the mid-palate. Beco ...Read More »

2009 Palmina Santa Barbara County Nebbiolo

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Editors’ Choice* Not only is this appellation blend the cheaper Nebbiolo offered by Steve Clifton's Italian varietal-focused winery, it's the best right out of the bottle. Bright strawberry, sweet rose, leather, star anise, cardamom, black-cherry-laced gingerbread and vanilla show on the rich and full nose. The tannins part to open dried strawberry, plum, rose hip and earthy flavors, proving both manly in presence but feminine in delicacy. 2009 Aubert "Lauren Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chardonnay Lauren Vineyard is one of the more understated wines in this lineup. It also shows a bit more freshness and brightness than the other 2009s. Tangerine, mint, light floral honey and spices are all beautifully layered into the detailed, nuanced finish. The French oak is better balanced here than in the Reuling, which allows the fruit to show the fullest breadth of its personality. Here, too, the finish seems to expand in every direction. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. This is a stunning set of wines from Mark Aubert... The Chardonnays ...Read More »

2009 Williams Selyem "Ferrington" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid ruby. High-pitched, seductive aromas of strawberry preserves, Asian spices, smoke and anise, with a strong mineral overtone. Juicy, tight and youthfully imploded but minerally and strikingly intense, with zesty red berry and bitter cherry flavors and solid tannic spine. Showing more minerality than sweet fruit today, this is built to age. Finishes with excellent length and resonating spice and floral notes. 2009 Morlet Family "Mon Chevalier" Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Mon Chevalier, from Knights Valley, is powerful, rich and imposing. A huge, muscular wine, the 2009 is endowed with deep, resonant layers of dark red cherries, plums, cloves, and crushed rocks. The Knights Valley tannins are present, but masterfully integrated. Smoke, incense, tobacco and scorched earth inform the dark, brooding finish. The 2009 is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 3% Merlot, 2% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon makes a good introduction to the house style. Layers of expressive dark red fruit, flowers, licorice and mint are nicely woven into an expressive, textured style that is very appealing. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2017. (AG)" (12/2011) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red-ruby. Expressive, open-knit aromas of currant and chocolate. Of the 2008 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Vinous writes: "Mocha, espresso, rosemary, lavender, plums and licorice emerge from the 2008 Opus One. Tasted from magnum, the 2008 is beautifully expressive. The firm tannins need more time to soften, but there is a lot to like in the 2008. Today the 2008 is showing beautifully. In magnum, the 2008 can be enjoyed today or cellared up to another 20 years or so. If opened young, the 2008 needs a few hours of air to soften. The bright, floral, spiced finish suggests a long life ahead. (AG)" (11/2013)

Deceptively medium in body, the 2009 boasts considerable structure and intensity to match its highly appealing mid-weight personality. Like many 2009s, today the Endre is a bit tight and in need of another year or so of bottle age. The blend is 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petite Verdot. 2009 Hundred Acre "Kayli Morgan" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pure sensuality in the glass, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan Vineyard is going to be nearly impossible to resist in its youth. At the same time, the Kayli Morgan has a track record of developing beautifully in bottle, and I imagine that is exactly what will happen here. Cedar, spice box, cassis and plums burst from the glass in this impressive, layered wine. A hint of mocha develops later, but it is pretty clear the 2009 is playing its cards close to the vest. The 2009 needs a few years to soften, but ultimately it stands out for its textured personality and terrific balance. Exotic spiced notes linger on the finish. The 2009 boasts serious intensity, richness and depth, but it remains quite tannic and in need of further bottle age. The vintage saw both frost and drought, two conditions that are a little unusual in the same year. Dense, concentrated and sweet, with an almost confectionery quality to the chocolatey dark fruit flavors. A strong spine of tannins gives this very rich cabernet plenty of support. Finishes with powerful fruit and palate-staining length. I would probably opt to enjoy this wine over the next seven or eight years, for its youthful fruit." Then intensely flavored, sappy and powerful, with savory dark berry and game flavors framed and lifted by black peppery acidity. No easy sweetness here. A melange of rose petals, mint and licorice follows as the James Berry shows off its breathtaking clarity and finesse. Fine-grained, chalky tannins frame the exceptional finish. Frankly, I am surprised this is the first wine of the tasting. Where does one go from here? (AG)" (8/2011) 97 points James Suckling: "Beautiful aromas of violets and sandal ...Read More »

2009 Bryant Family "Bettina" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

98 points Vinous: "The estate's 2009 Bettina offers up sweet red berries, freshly cut flowers, mint, spices and crushed rocks. The 2009 Bettina stands out for its bright, high-toned aromas and flavors, as well as its intense, saline minerality. Everything about the 2009 is in the right place. This is a flat-out great bottle of wine. In a word: Fabulous. Wow! (AG)" (12/2012) 95 points Wine Spectator: "This red shares the plush texture and savory herb, spice and lavender notes of the Cabernet, presented in a tight mix of dried currant, mineral, crushed rock and tobacco flavors. 2009 Kobalt Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon flows across the palate with waves of dark red fruit, spices and licorice. The 2009 doesn’t have the delineation or elegance of the 2008, but it is exceptional just the same. The aromas and flavors build beautifully to the big, seamless finish. Readers who enjoy full-bodied, hedonistic Cabernets will be thrilled with this effort. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. (AG)" (2/2012) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(from Coombsville cabernet; blended with 3% malbec): Saturated dark ruby. Cassis, blackberry, licorice and violet on the nose. 2009 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Proprietary Blend Harlan Estate is just as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. Cloves, dark plums, cherries, smoke and graphite add richness and resonance to this powerful, incisive wine. Juicy and exuberant, the 2009 has always had a certain raciness that is impossible to resist. Layers of fruit continue to build to the enveloping, sensual finish. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this hugely delicious wine. (AG)" (12/2012) 97 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated ruby to the rim. 2009 Kapcsandy Family "Estate Cuvée - State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Cuvee State Lane Vineyard spent 20 months in 100% French oak, and like all the Kapcsandy dry reds came in under 14% alcohol, in this case, 13.5%. A true synthesis between Napa Valley’s bold and exuberant richness and the more subtle elegance of France, this wine exhibits a deep ruby/plum color, hints of white chocolate, black currants, and bouquet garni, decent acidity and a stylish, medium-bodied, spicy, ripe mouthfeel. It can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years. (RP)" (10/2013) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Sm ...Read More »

2009 Blankiet "Rive Droite - Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Blankiet "Rive Droite - Paradise Hills Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 96VN, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the finest Merlot-based wines in all of California, the 2009 Rive Droite Paradise Hills Vineyard is a blend of 79.8% Merlot, 11.8% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. Unfortunately, there are only 200 cases compared to 510 cases of the 2009 Proprietary Red. It finished at 15.2% alcohol, and reminded me of the pre-1975 vintages of Petrus. Robust and full-bodied with abundant notes of kirsch, mocha, mulberry and plum fruit intertwined with grilled meat and charcuterie, new saddle leather and fudge characteristics. This superb, opulent, voluptuously textured 2009 can be drunk now or cellared for 20-25 years. (RP)" (10/2013)

2009 Sea Smoke "Botella" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Botella sweeps across the palate with deep, rich layers of dark fruit. Smoke, licorice, incense and leather develop in the glass. The Botella is one of the more extroverted, juicy Pinots in this lineup. The wine’s persistence, depth and overall sense of harmony are all first-rate. 2009 Williams Selyem "Williams Selyem Estate Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* From the winery’s own Westside Road vineyard, formerly called Litton, comes this grandiose, if immature, Pinot Noir. In its youth it’s all about primary, jammy raspberry and cherry fruit. On the edges are fine acidity, smooth tannins and a perfect appliqué of oak. Shows the hallmarks of this great, emerging vineyard, but needs serious time to come around." 2009 Sine Qua Non "Upside Down" Grenache (Previously $300)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Grenache Upside Down emerges from the glass with layers of dark red fruit as it sweeps across the palate. There is an inner sweetness and sheer depth that make the 2009 compelling. The 11% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre make themselves heard clearly in adding layers of depth and pure richness. Tar, anise and graphite meld together on the rich, dramatic finish. This is a striking wine endowed with tons of pure textural dimension. The 2009 was sourced from Eleven Confessions (72%), Cumulus (22%) and Bien Nacido (6%) vineyards.
