2009 Roederer Estate "L'Ermitage" Anderson Valley Brut Sparkling Wine

92 points Wine Spectator: "A luxurious sparkler, with toasty brioche, mineral and lemon brûlée aromas and rich, complex flavors of crisp apple and raspberry, showing accents of fresh ginger and spice. (TF)" (9/2016) 90 points Wine & Spirits: "The 2009 vintage grew lush Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on the northern California coast, and that vintage character defines Roederer Estate’s tête de cuvée: It’s broad and rich, its ripe apple flavor threaded with the toastiness of barrel-aged reserve lots, while a bright line of acidity gives it a healthy persistence." 2009 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

98 points James Suckling: "Stunning nose of lavender and flowers. Currants and raspberries. Subtle and intriguing. Full and dense but wonderfully balanced with firm and silky tannins and a persistent finish. Dusty texture. A wine so balanced that you want to drink it already. Better in 2017." (10/2012) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Dominus saw about 40% new oak compared to the 20% for Napanook. A seamless classic, it offers a symphony of red and black currants, Asian plum sauce, lavender, and underbrush. Sweet Christmas fruitcake characteristics emerge from this magnificent Dominus that finished at 14.5 ...Read More »

2009 Parallel "Black Diamonds" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Very rich, ripe and dramatically textured, this has explosive flavors of blackberry, crème de cassis, dried herb and smoked meat flavors, enriched by smoky oak. It shows the tough, hard tannins you often find in low production mountain Cabernets. Made by the well-known consulting winemaker, Philippe Melka, it has the structure of a wine that needs age. Give it at least eight years, and it could be one that lasts decades." (10/2012) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Firmly tannic and extracted, with a tight, rich mix of dried currant and dark berry flavors that show touches of dried herb an ...Read More »

2009 Opus One Napa Valley Proprietary Red Top Pick!
2009 Opus One Napa Valley Proprietary Red

94 points Vinous: "The 2009 Opus One is impeccable. It brings together the silkiness of the 2007 with the power and darkness of the 2008, a combination that is hugely appealing, to say the least. With a little air, the 2009 can be enjoyed young, but it is best cellared for at least a few years, which will allow some of the baby fat to drop off. The blend is 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot and 1% Malbec. 94+ Points (AG)" (6/2013) 93 points James Suckling: "Aromas of orange peel, currants, olives and subtle rosemary. 2009 Windy Oaks Estate "Limited Release Whole Cluster - Schultze Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid red. An explosively perfumed bouquet evokes candied red and dark berries, Asian spices and vanilla, with a sexy floral nuance that builds with aeration. Supple, sweet and penetrating black raspberry and cherry-cola flavors show a suave blend of richness and vivacity, with smoke and allspice accents adding complexity. Highly alluring and showing extremely well now but there's the depth here to reward patience. Finishes sweet, seamless and very long, with lingering red fruit and spice notes. 2009 Dalla Valle "Collina" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon New!
2009 Dalla Valle "Collina" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

This is the newest addition to the Dalla Valle range made mostly from the younger vines planted on the Dalla Valle estate. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Notes from Vinography: "Medium garnet in color, this wine smells of flowers and bright cherry fruit. In the mouth cherry, cocoa powder and exceptionally juicy acidity make this a difficult wine to spit out. Lush, vibrant, and quite compelling. By the time the powdery tannins emerge at the edges of the mouth you've already gone back for a second sip. Phenomenal." (05/2012)

2009 Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Connoisseurs Guide: "*Two Stars* Not the least bit shy about standing up to its big and pricey mate, this nicely crafted wine shares a keen focus on the currant fruit that makes Napa Valley Cabernets so special. It also shares a drift into slight fleshiness, and, in this case, shows greater willingness to be drunk up in the next five years even if keeping it longer is within its ability to age. Still, with a somewhat more open stance and more inviting price, this wine serves up lots to like while we wait for the Special Selection." 2009 Shafer "Red Shoulder Ranch" Carneros Chardonnay

The 2009 Red Shoulder Ranch is gigantic in pineapples, pears, mangoes, tangerines and honey, yet so minerally and crisp that somehow it finishes dry." (10/2011) 93 points Wine Spectator: "*#65 in Top 100 Wines of 2011* Pure, ripe and richly flavored, with tiers of nectarine, fig, honeysuckle and smoky oak. 2009 Heitz "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Vinous: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is a relatively immediate Marthas, with a real feeling of mid-palate density and weight that is almost out of character for this estate. Sweet, silky tannins give the 2009 much of its succulence. Scents of mint, pine and eucalyptus wrap around the juicy, inviting finish. (AG)" (10/2015) Wine Spectator: "Shows notable herb, mint and bay leaf overtones, with a tight, dense core of dried currant and berry that is slow to open. 2009 Anderson's Conn Valley "Eloge" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Eloge bursts from the glass with juicy dark cherries, flowers, mint, tobacco, licorice and earthiness. I especially like the immediacy of the fruit here. There is pure plushness and juiciness in the 2009 that is impossible not to love. Black cherries, tobacco, smoke and graphite all wrap around the intense, juicy finish. This is a terrific showing from Todd Anderson and his team. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2029. 2009 Carlisle Sonoma County Zinfandel

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sensational buy, the 2009 Zinfandel Sonoma (15.9% alcohol) is an outrageously rich, concentrated Zin that includes 15% Petite Sirah in the blend. This wine over-delivers for its price. Deep, briery, blue and black fruit and spice aromas soar from the glass of this perfumed, full-bodied, pedal-to-the-metal style of Zinfandel that is loaded with fruit. It is a blend of two Zinfandel vineyards, the Rossi Ranch in Sonoma and the Lingenfelder in Russian River. The Petite Sirah component comes from the Teldeschi Ranch in Dry Creek. 2009 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Connoisseurs Guide: "It is quite clear by now that 2009 is proving to be a standout year for Cabernet, but within the crowd of outstanding wines, this one holds its head just a bit higher. It is, as Insignia always is, a wine of exceptional crafting and polish, and yet in this outing, it seems to have an extra measure of richness and fruity strength, not to mention plenty of grippy structural tannins. There is an almost brooding aspect about it that suggests that it is not yet even close to showing all that it has, and it looks very likely to be among the more age-worthy and ...Read More »

Drink now through 2016." (07/11) Lewis' Barcaglia Lane bottling receives four additional months of barrel aging on the lees resulting in broad texture and fine detail. Lush, palate-coating blackberry and mulberry flavors are lifted by gentle acidity and complicated by notes of spicecake and candied violet. 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Ovid is stunningly beautiful. At times it shows a little more depth, power and richness than the Hexameter, but both wines are compelling. Endless layers of fruit saturate the palate as this rich, intense wine conquers the heart and intellect. A totally vivid wine, the 2009 is even more impressive from bottle than it was from barrel. 2009 Carlisle "Palisades Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Sirah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Carlisle "Palisades Vineyard" Napa Valley Petite Sirah ((94-96RP), 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another wine for readers who suffer from clogged arteries is the massive, super-tannic, phenomenally concentrated 2009 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard. Made from Napa Valley fruit and tipping the scales at 16% alcohol, this wine possesses a boatload of glycerin and concentration. It is a 30-40-year wine given the glacial pace at which Petite Sirah evolves. A dense purple color is accompanied by scents of graphite, blueberry liqueur and ink as well as hints of oak and crushed rocks. The wine is so concentrated, full-bodied and intense that it is nearly painful to taste. In spite of the stratospheric level of the tannins, they are remarkably sweet and well-integrated. Forget this one for 4-5 years and drink it over the following 3-4 decades. (RP)" (02/2011)

2009 Maybach "Amoenus" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Amoenus, which I previously tasted from barrel when it was a lot more open, has shut down completely (as a lot of 2009s seem to be doing). Full-bodied and rich, it reveals notes of damp earth, blackberries and creme de cassis as well as a distinctive terroir character. Although there are elevated tannins, they seem relatively sweet and not the least astringent. Nevertheless, this cuvee has gone into a firm, closed state and several years of bottle age is recommended. It should keep for 15-25 years. Mourvedre is a difficult varietal, but this effort is ripe with silky tannins rather than vegetal with tea-tasting fruit and excessively astringent tannin. 2009 Big Basin "Coastview Vineyard" Monterey Pinot Noir

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid red. Black raspberry and cherry on the highly perfumed, spice-accented nose. Broad, juicy and very precise, with energetic dark berry flavors and notes of spicecake and vanilla. Finishes sweet, smoky and very long, with lingering florality and excellent clarity. This wine was fermented with 15% whole clusters, according to owner/winemaker Bradley Brown." (11/2011) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Coastview Vineyard sweeps across the palate with layers of plump, dark fruit. It is an expansive Pinot loaded with personality and class. The Coastview Pinot shows g ...Read More »

2009 Williams Selyem "Westside Road Neighbors" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

95 points Connoisseurs Guide: "The release of this wine along with Williams Selyem's appellation bottlings might suggest that the winery sees it as one of its early maturing wines, but if that be the case, then we must respectfully disagree. This wine is slow to unfold in the glass, and despite the sweet, ripe character that emerges, it is also a wine that falls in distinct sections at this point. Its pulpy fruit reminiscent of dried cherries and raspberry preserves leads to an initially mouthfilling, viscous impression but also to flavors that are more than a little on the tight side ...Read More »

2009 Big Basin Vineyards "Homestead" Santa Cruz/Monterey Red Blend

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Homestead is 46% Grenache, 43% Syrah and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, mostly sourced from estate vineyards. This attractive red wine fleshes out nicely in the glass, with compelling dark fruit, sweet spices and flowers. Floral notes reappear on the finish adding brightness and lift. The Homestead is an attractive, fruit-forward offering best enjoyed over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. Bradley Brown crafts gorgeous artisan wines from his vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Monterey County. The wines are fermented with ambi ...Read More »

2009 Araujo "Altagracia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend New!
2009 Araujo "Altagracia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Altagracia is a rich, textured wine layered with perfumed red fruit. Ripe, silky tannins frame the long, exceptional finish. The 2009 impresses for its breadth and volume, all while maintaining a very classic profile. The delineation of the 2008 is missing, but in exchange readers will find a soft, supple wine loaded with class. In 2009 the blend is 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Malbec. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. (AG)" (12/2011) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Cassis, blueberry, licorice and violet on the nose, wi ...Read More »

2009 Buccella Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Both of these wines showed well, with the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon (94% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) revealing slightly more structure as well as a more reserved style. This impressive endowed 2009 exhibits lots of creme de cassis, licorice, violets and new oak. A big, full-bodied wine with tannin to shed, so it may require some additional bottle age. Both wines are multi-AVAs from five vineyards spread across Napa Valley. It should last two decades. (RP)" (10/2013) 91 points James Suckling: "A rich, velvety red with sweet-berry and cherry ...Read More »
