2009 Cobb "Coastlands Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid ruby. High-pitched, heady red berry and floral aromas are complemented by star anise and mace. Zesty acidity adds lift and cut to the deep, sappy raspberry and cherry flavors, with a smoky quality emerging with air. The lively, precise finish lingers with outstanding floral persistence." (5/2012) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Juicy dark cherries, flowers, hard candy and sweet spices all meld together in the 2009 Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard. The 2009 shows considerable weight, richness and inner sweetness from the high percentage of shattered grapes for the year. Sweet flora ...Read More »

2009 Roederer Estate "L'Ermitage" Anderson Valley Brut Sparkling Wine

92 points Wine Spectator: "A luxurious sparkler, with toasty brioche, mineral and lemon brûlée aromas and rich, complex flavors of crisp apple and raspberry, showing accents of fresh ginger and spice. (TF)" (9/2016) 90 points Wine & Spirits: "The 2009 vintage grew lush Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on the northern California coast, and that vintage character defines Roederer Estate’s tête de cuvée: It’s broad and rich, its ripe apple flavor threaded with the toastiness of barrel-aged reserve lots, while a bright line of acidity gives it a healthy persistence." 2009 Montagna "Tre Vigneti Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* This starts out closed and tight, shut down by tannins and immaturity, but plenty of swirling reveals elusive black-licorice and blackberry notes, accented by smoky oak. The tannins really kick in toward the middle, but hard as they are, they exhibit great breed. Despite its sweet core of fruit, this is nowhere close to being ready. Give it 10 years." (10/2012) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Tre Vigneti possesses gorgeous juiciness and depth. 2009 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Vinous: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is a relatively immediate Marthas, with a real feeling of mid-palate density and weight that is almost out of character for this estate. Sweet, silky tannins give the 2009 much of its succulence. Scents of mint, pine and eucalyptus wrap around the juicy, inviting finish. (AG)" (10/2015) Wine Spectator: "Shows notable herb, mint and bay leaf overtones, with a tight, dense core of dried currant and berry that is slow to open. This is very shut down for now, and should age for a long time. The flavors build on the finish. Drink no ...Read More »

2009 Sea Smoke "Southing" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

92 points James Suckling: "Pretty aromas of ripe strawberries and citrus character. It shows a beautiful purity of fruit on the palate with very fine tannins and a long silky finish. Pretty acidity too. Firm. Better in 2014." (12/2011) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Sea Smoke's 2009 Pinot Noir Southing is gorgeous. It possesses striking textural depth and finesse. Juicy dark cherries, spices and flowers take shape beautifully as the wine fleshes out in the glass. The 2009 needs a few years to soften, but ultimately it stands out for its textured personality and terrific balance. 2009 Morlet "Joli Coeur" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Captivating if somewhat reticent aromas of raspberry, violet, crushed rock and chocolatey oak. Fat, broad and highly concentrated but a bit tight today, with superb energy to the youthful flavors of raspberry coulis, graphite and herbs. This boasts remarkable inner-mouth energy for a pinot at this octane level. Finishes with broad, oak-driven tannins and a surprisingly light touch. Aeration brought an emerging spicecake character. 2009 Joseph Phelps Napa Valley Syrah

91 points Wine Spectator: "Well-structured, intense and minerally, tightly wound, with dried berry, sage, roasted herb and cedar; a classy effort that is best cellared or given a long decant, as it is just beginning to ease into approachability." (2/2012) Connoisseurs Guide: "*One Star* Well-ripened blackberry fruit is very much at center stage here, and while fit with a nice bit of sweet oak, the wine underplays the varietal's spicier side. Balanced and harmonious, with a chocolate, oaky finish. Delicious and long. (SB)" (3/2014) K&L Notes: The 2009 Oakville Cab from Far Niente has just a splash of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. 2009 Alpha Omega "Era" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Era is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based red with 8% Petit Verdot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. It is a dark, powerful wine bursting with plums, espresso, mocha, sweet French oak and licorice, all of which come together in a powerful, virile style. Layers of black fruit build effortlessly towards the opulent, caressing finish. Despite the wine’s richness, there is excellent underlying structure. This is a distinctly sweet style that lacks the finesse of the 2008 tasted alongside it. (AG)" (12/2011) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full, deep ruby-red. 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is a broodingly big, muscular, backward red offering hints of wet pebbles, scorched earth, sweet black currants, blackberries, cassis, loamy soil, underbrush and foresty notes. Muscular, dense and tannic, it is meant for those with considerable patience as it will require 4-5 years in the cellar. It should last for three decades. (RP)" (10/2013) 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Impressive deep ruby color. Blackberry, licorice and minerals on the nose, sexed up by Taransaud mocha and dark chocolate. 2009 O'Shaughnessy Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2009 O'Shaughnessy Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is all minerals, graphite and pure Howell Mountain. Layers of dark red fruit come to life in this articulate, pedigreed Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2009 needs another few years in the bottle, but it is already quite striking, especially with some time in the glass. Saline notes frame the long finish. The 2009 is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec, 5% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 5% St. Macaire and 2% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. This is a thrilling set of wines from the gregarious Betty O’Shaughnessy and her winemaker Sean Capiaux. The Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon includes a host of other varieties, while the Mt. Rich, opulent and beautifully textured throughout, the 2009 is going to provide fabulous, viscerally thrilling drinking pretty much right out of the gate. This is a great Hillside Select. Wine Enthusiast: "Shows lots of rich blackberry and cherry sour candy flavors, with a smoky coating of oak, and smooth, easy-to-drink tannins that make this Cabernet ready to open now." (3/2012) K&L Notes: For the past 20 years, Frog's Leap has been making incredible Napa Valley Cabernet, wines that buck the trend toward higher alcohol and bigger fruit. At 13.7 abv, the 2009 leads with aromas of ripe bing cherry, plum, and rose petal, followed by a supple and round medium-bodied palate with fresh acidity, velvety tannin, and plenty of fruity appeal. Of the 2007 Sea Smoke "Ten" Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir,Wine Enthusiast writes: " *Best of 2010, Cellar Selection* This very dense, tannic Pinot Noir represents a triumph for both the winery, the vintage and the region it represents. A multi-clone blend (hence the name) with high, cool-climate acidity and aged in 100% new oak, it’s still young, fresh and tight. The astringency throws a cloak over the raspberries, cherries, rosehip tea and Indian spice flavors, which reveal themselves only reluctantly. Of the 2007 Ridge Vineyards "East Bench" Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel,Connoisseurs Guide writes: "Here is marvelous proof that high ripeness and fine balance need not be mutually exclusive, for while the wine checks in at 15.4% alcohol, it is as deep in defined fruit and as carefully structured as any Zinfandel in this month's survey. It is simply brimming with berries from the first, and, while fully ripe, it is not in the least bit overdone. It is laced with briary spice and complementary oak, and its long, tannin-firmed finish is as well-focused on outgoing fruit as its intense, deep and handsomely crafted aromas. Pungent, expressive bouquet offers dark berry compote, cola, vanilla bean and incense qualities, along with slow-building spiciness and notes of clove and mocha. Lush, palate-coating blackberry and mulberry flavors are lifted by gentle acidity and complicated by notes of spicecake and candied violet. 2009 Williams Selyem "Westside Road Neighbors" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

95 points Connoisseurs Guide: "The release of this wine along with Williams Selyem's appellation bottlings might suggest that the winery sees it as one of its early maturing wines, but if that be the case, then we must respectfully disagree. This wine is slow to unfold in the glass, and despite the sweet, ripe character that emerges, it is also a wine that falls in distinct sections at this point. There is an inner sweetness and sheer depth that make the 2009 compelling. The 11% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre make themselves heard clearly in adding layers of depth and pure richness. 2009 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98VN, 97WS, 96RP, 96ST). Vinous: "Once again, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon pays homage to the 2007, but the aromas and flavors seems to be just a touch brighter, which might just be a function of the wine's age. A wine of remarkable precision, the 2009 is totally dialed in from start to finish. Layers of intensely sweet, perfumed fruit are woven together with remarkable elegance and sheer polish. Today, the 2009 isn't quite as radiant as it has been in the past, and seems headed for a stubborn phase. It is still striking, though. Even if a bit less exotic than the 2007, the two wines share a silkiness and overall sense of textural finesse. A translucent, weightless finish rounds things out in style. Endless layers of fruit saturate the palate as this rich, intense wine conquers the heart and intellect. A totally vivid wine, the 2009 is even more impressive from bottle than it was from barrel. 2009 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, saturated ruby-red. Deep aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, cola, chocolate, minerals and spicy oak. Dense, concentrated and sweet, with an almost confectionery quality to the chocolatey dark fruit flavors. A strong spine of tannins gives this very rich cabernet plenty of support. Finishes with powerful fruit and palate-staining length. I would probably opt to enjoy this wine over the next seven or eight years, for its youthful fruit." (5/2012) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Intense and concentrated, with a rich array of dark berry built around currant, blackberry, mineral, ...Read More »

2009 Dehlinger "Altamont Vineyard" Russian River Valley Syrah

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Syrah Altamont is another classy wine. It boasts tremendous depth and richness with a bit more structure than the Goldridge, although it is built along similar lines. Intense floral notes, licorice, new leather and black olives wrap around the fruit on the finish. This is another terrific showing. The 2009 is the first Syrah Estate to carry the Altamont vineyard designation, although previous years have also been made from this site. (AG)" (12/2011) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky purple. A heady bouquet evokes dark berry preserves, incense, Indian spices and candied violet ...Read More »

2009 Williams Selyem "Vista Verde" San Benito County Pinot Noir

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Deep, sexy aromas of blackberry liqueur, cherry, vanilla bean, rose and Moroccan spices. Broad, sappy and sweet, offering palate-coating red and dark berry flavors and silky tannins. With air, this picks up exotic floral notes that carry through the smoky, lip-smacking finish. On the muscular side but not lacking for energy. Give this a little air." (6/2011) Wine Spectator: "Compelling aromatics of rich plum and blackberry are trimmer on the palate in this well-structured, vibrant red. Ends with a spicy citrusy edge. Needs time. Drink now through 2018. (Web- ...Read More »

2009 Marcassin "Blue Slide Ridge" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Marcassin "Blue Slide Ridge" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (98RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The prodigious 2009 Pinot Noir Blue Slide Ridge reminds me of one of the great vintages of the DRC Vosne-Romanee. Notes of forest floor, jammy raspberries, blueberries, boysenberries and spring flowers are followed by a full-bodied, textured, layered mouthfeel, and great intensity, precision and freshness. This stunning 2009 is already showing considerable complexity, and should age effortlessly for 10-15 years. The visionary husband and wife team of John Wetlaufer and Helen Turley have created a largely unprecedented legacy of extraordinary quality that is unsurpassed by anyone else in Northern California. 2009 Aubert "Larry Hyde and Sons Vineyard" Carneros Chardonnay

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard comes across as rich, round and layered. Dried apricots, peaches, flowers and tangerine are some of the notes that flow from this sumptuous, well-spoken Chardonnay. The wine turns more and more delicate with time in the glass. I loved it. This is a great showing from Mark Aubert. (AG)" (2/2012) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Sleek and refined, with spicy citrus, pithy lemon peel, anise, smoked fig and roasted marshmallow flavors, gaining depth and persistence on the long, detailed finish. 2009 Marcassin "Three Sisters Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Marcassin "Three Sisters Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (94RP, 93WS, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The soft, dark ruby-hued 2009 Pinot Noir Three Sisters exhibits notes of Asian soy, ripe plums and sweet cherries. Fruit-forward and medium-bodied with good acidity, it is an excellent, but not outstanding Pinot Noir to drink over the next 6-10 years. The visionary husband and wife team of John Wetlaufer and Helen Turley have created a largely unprecedented legacy of extraordinary quality that is unsurpassed by anyone else in Northern California. 2009 Vineyard 29 "29 Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium ruby. Dark, brooding aromas of cassis, licorice, graphite and chocolate, lifted by a floral topnote. Lush, sweet and seamless, with excellent lift to its ripe black fruit and mineral flavors. Most impressive today on the very long, juicy back end, which features wonderful suave soft tannins for this site I underrated this wine from barrel last year. This superb wine is harmonious already but should really be cellared for at least a few years. 2009 Dehlinger Russian River Valley Claret

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Dehlinger's 2009 Claret is surprisingly rich and bombastic. Dark black fruit, savory grilled herbs, graphite, menthol and licorice all jump from the glass. Though very much an extrovert, the 2009 possesses fabulous balance and plenty of harmony. (AG)" (4/2013) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Opaque ruby. Alluring aromas of cassis, cherry compote, Indian spices, iron and graphite, with a vanilla nuance that builds with air. A deep, youthfully structured wine that offers sweet red and dark fruit flavors laced with mocha, cola and vanilla. Concentrated and fleshy but comes across as lively, ...Read More »

A model of total finesse and elegance, the 2009 wraps around the palate with what feels like endless layers of aromas and flavors. 2009 Colgin "Cariad" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

98 points James Suckling: "Ripe and rich fruit on the nose with dried berry and dark chocolate character. Full body, with a seamless and stunning texture. It goes on for minutes. Phenomenal texture. Sexy." (5/2014) 98 points Vinous: "The 2009 Cariad Red Wine is a blend of fruit sourced from Thorevilos and Madrona Ranch in St. Helena. It is deep, sensual and beautifully balanced in its dark black fruit, menthol, spices and licorice. This is a much firmer and more structured wine than the Tychson Hill. It doesn't have that wine's sheer early appeal, but it does have the structure to age gracefully for y ...Read More »
