2010 Heitz Cellar "Trailside Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

From the winemaker: "In the early 1980s, the Heitz Family acquired a marvelous Rutherford vineyard bordered on one side by the Silverado Trail and nudged on the other by the Conn Creek. In 1989, we introduced our Trailside Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon--an opulent wine that consistently expresses its lineage in bold, luscious statements. Our Trailside Vineyard produces Cabernet grapes that are incredibly intense and flavorful. We try to enhance that natural bravado during our extended aging process by using new French oak barrels."

2010 Kukkula "Lothario" Paso Robles Red Blend (Previously $38)

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(34% grenache, 33% mourvedre and 33% zinfandel; 15.2% alcohol): Bright purple. Ripe raspberry and blueberry on the nose and in the mouth. Juicy, spice-accented berry compote flavors show an appealingly silky quality and pick up a floral nuance with air. Closes on a gently sweet note, with lingering blue fruit and spice qualities. No shortage of fruit here." (11/2012) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Lothario is another of the more restrained wines in this lineup from Kukkula. It shows good depth and persistence, with pretty notes of tobacco, wild flowers and dried cherries that l ...Read More »

2010 Foley Johnson Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points James Suckling: "A red with lots of iodine, stone, currant and spice character. It's full-bodied, chewy and juicy. I like this slightly better than the Estate Bottled in 2010. Needs a least three or four years to soften: better in 2016." (5/2014) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon’s dark ruby/purple color is followed by clean, pure aromas of black currants and underbrush, medium body, excellent purity and an alluring texture. This delicious, accessible Cabernet Sauvignon should also drink well for 7-8 years. Moreover, the pricing is realistic for Napa. (RP)" (10/2013) Wine & Spirits: "This is a new ...Read More »

2010 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is striking in its beauty. Freshly cut flowers, mint, dark cherries, cloves and violets seem to jump from the glass. A crystalline, pure Pinot, the 2010 is loaded with energy and brightness. Though medium in body, the 2010 is all about vibrancy and nuance. This is a terrific entry-level Pinot from Kosta-Browne. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2017. 2010 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Top Pick!
2010 Heitz Cellar "Martha's Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Vinous: "Not surprisingly, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is the least expressive of these wines. At the same time, so much of its appeal is in its tightly-coiled energy and tension. Cherry pit, smoke, blood orange, mint and spice open up with time in the glass, but the 2010 is clearly built for cellaring. The wine's brightness and focus are compelling, but the 2010 needs time. 2010 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is built from completely different sources. Sixty-six percent came from the St. Helena Home Ranch, 18% from the Chabot Vineyard, and the rest from Beringer's estates in St. Helena, Rutherford and Coombsville. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that came in at 14.6% natural alcohol with a pH of 3.8. Perhaps the greatest Beringer Private Reserve since the 2007, 2005, 2002 and 2001, the 2010 offers up notes of lead pencil shavings, creme de cassis, subtle smoke, wet rocks and background oak. Full-bodied, rich and impre ...Read More »

2010 World's End "Wavelength" Napa Valley Red Wine (Elsewhere $70)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Wavelength Proprietary Red is an intriguing blend of 65% Syrah and 35% Cabernet Franc. Its saturated purple color is followed by aromas of flowers, blueberries, blackberries, forest floor and spice. The wine hits the mouth with medium to full body, glorious fruit, sensational purity, wonderful texture and length, and a finish that lasts 40-45 seconds. Usually blending Cabernet Franc and Syrah together would not be a high priority on most winemaker’s agenda, but Maltus marches to the beat of a different drummer and clearly has something special o ...Read More »

2010 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Vinous: "The 2010 Monte Bello is just as stunning as it has always been. Today, the 2010 appears to be entering a closed phase, so it is best left alone for at least another 5-10 years, perhaps longer. The signatures are super-ripe, exotic fruit, sweet aromatics and firm tannins, all of which ensure the 2010 will be utterly magnificent in a few decades. The growing season was characterized by mostly cold weather, with an unexpectedly intense heat spike in mid-October that gave the fruit a final push. One of the things that makes this vintage so compelling is the ...Read More »

2010 Williams Selyem Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

91 points Connoisseurs Guide: "The new crop of Pinots from Williams Selyem clearly reflects the cooler constraints of the 2010 vintage, yet, in this instance, the tendency to pert acid is tempered with a wealth of keen fruit, and the wine is both lively and fairly rich. It shows touches of dusty roses and dried flowers as adjuncts to its persistent ripe-cherry fruit, and, while accessible and inviting in its youth, it has the vitality of an ageworthy wine." (6/2012) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid red. Fragrant, highly perfumed bouquet evokes raspberry, gingerbread and fresh rose. 2010 Mount Eden "Reserve" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Only slightly darker in color than the Estate Chardonnay, the 2010 Chardonnay Reserve is a barrel selection from the standard Santa Cruz Mountain Chardonnay that's moved to stainless steel barrels, gets a single lees stirring, and then is left alone for 12 months before being bottled. It offers rocking notes of ripe orchard fruits, honeysuckle, orange blossom and vanilla cream on the nose. 2010 Philip Togni "Estate" Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Vinous: "After going through a period of post-bottling dormancy, Philip Togni's 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon has really begun to show well from bottle over the last six months or so. Of course, the 2010 is far too young to deliver maximum pleasure, but it is nevertheless superb tonight. Beams of acidity and tannin give energy to the dark fruit and its accompanying floral/savory/mineral overtones. The 2010 is a classic Philip Togni wine that will thrill readers who appreciate classically built Cabernets. Recent bottles from the early 1990s and 2000s show just how much ...Read More »

2010 Iron Horse "Classic Vintage Brut" Sonoma County Sparkling Wine

93 points Wine & Spirits: "The 2010 vintage on the North Coast was mostly cool, until a blistering late-August heat wave created sunburn challenges and uneven ripening in many vineyards. At the cool Iron Horse estate in Green Valley, the effects were less drastic. In fact, winemaker David Munksgard’s pinot-dominant Classic Vintage Brut is remarkably pure in 2010, the flavors intense and red-fruited at first, slowly receding in a delicate mousse that lasts on cool scents of chamomile, lemon blossoms and biscuit. The acidity is bright, the texture gentle, evoking the ocean breezes a ...Read More »

2010 Mayacamas Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Vinous: "Graphite, smoke, licorice, game, savory herbs and a host of inky blue/blackish stone fruits make an appearance in the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. Beautifully layered and intense, the 2010 offers a compelling interplay of finesse and power. Still, my sense is that the 2010 is holding back much of its potential. Readers need to be patient, but the 2010 is shaping up to be a gem. Every time I go to Mayacamas there is something new to see. 2010 Mount Eden "Estate" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay

95 points Vinous: "Mount Eden's 2010 Chardonnay is stunning. Honeysuckle, tangerine, apricot, and crème brulee literally jump from the glass A vivid, exotic wine, the 2010 is constantly changing in the glass. Stylistically, the 2010 is a little richer than Mount Eden fans are used to, but all the elements are in the right place. The 2010 verges on the edge of tropical aromas and flavors that are quite rare for young Mount Eden Chardonnays. 2010 Rocca "Grigsby Vineyard" Yountville Napa Cabernet Sauvignon (Elsewhere $75)

93 points Connoisseurs Guide: "*Two Stars* Although mildly minty, framed with sweet oak and hinting ever so slightly at a bit of dusty dry earth, this very deep and confident, young Cabernet Sauvignon is directed first and foremost by its incisive, keenly varietal, blackcurrant fruit. It is fleshy and quite supple on entry with an early inclination to roundness, but ample structural tannins then make their mark even if they are fairly refined and far from abrasive. 2010 Ovid Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Ovid Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend ((96-98RP), 97VN, 95ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Sweet dark cherries and plums are some of the notes that explode from the 2010 Ovid. An utterly vivid, breathtaking wine, the 2010 impresses for its incredible balance and overall sense of harmony. Flowers of all sorts, sage and rosemary develop in the glass, adding tons of complexity. Today the 2010 is a little reticent next to the decidedly more exuberant 2009, which is quite typical of wines from Pritchard Hill at this stage in the evolution of these vintages. Power, pure vibrancy and intensity are the hallmarks of the 2010. This is another stunning wine from the team at Ovid. I can’t wait to see how the 2010 develops in bottle. (5/2014) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The compelling 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Solari (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) boasts an opaque purple color as well as notes of bla ...Read More »

2010 Morlet "Mon Chevalier" Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Mon Chevalier bursts from the glass with smoke, scorched earth, tobacco, incense and dark plums. There is plenty of Knights Valley character in the glass, but at the same time the fruit is so pure and refined as to make the tannins much more polished than is often the case. The Mon Chevalier is another deep wine endowed with serious depth and power. (AG)" (12/2012) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good ruby-red. Highly complex, very sexy nose combines blackberry, blueberry, musky mocha and coffee bean and cigar box. Ripe and plush on the palate, if a bit less ...Read More »

2010 Ridge Vineyards "Mazzoni Home Ranch" Sonoma County Red Blend

From the winery: "Giuseppe Mazzoni and his fourteen-year-old brother-in-law, Abramo Trusendi, arrived from Italy in 1898 and went straight to work at the Italian Swiss Colony vineyard cooperative in Asti, California. In 1899, the two managed to acquire hillside acreage nearby overlooking Alexander Valley from the west. By 1910 they had built a winery and begun making wine. Except for the Prohibition years, the Mazzoni family produced wine there until 1978. They were great believers in the contribution each varietal in a field blend could make to the fini... 2010 Chasseur "Graton's Choice" Russian River Valley Chardonnay (Previously $50)

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright yellow-gold. Fresh orange, pear and white flowers on the highly perfumed, smoke-accented nose. Fleshy but energetic and precise, offering palate-staining orchard and citrus fruit flavors that become spicier with air. Shows excellent clarity and power on the finish, which leaves subtle iodine and buttered toast notes behind. (ST)" (5/2013) 90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "*One Star* Once again running right to the brink and a very viscous, very full-bodied wine that ranks with the bigger and more expressive Chardonnays to be had, Chasseur's Graton's Choice offering is a wine unconce ...Read More »

2010 Etude Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa, a multi-AVA blend, is a brilliant 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 22 months in primarily new French oak. This beauty offers a dense purple color, lots of creme de cassis, licorice and forest floor notes, a youthful personality, and a quasi-Bordeaux-like tannic structure. (RP)" (10/2013) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Pure and deftly balanced, exhibiting a complex mix of fresh-turned earth, dark berry, spice, cedar and mocha. Most interesting on the finish where the flavors weave together. Ends with grippy, fine-grained tannins. (JL)" (11/2013) 90 points Vinous: "The 2010 Caber ...Read More »

2010 Samsara "Turner Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah

94 points Vinous: "The 2010 Syrah Turner Vineyard is pure excitement in the glass. Complex and totally unrestrained, the 2010 is loaded with expressive varietal character. Veins of underlying acidity and minerality give the 2010 its raciness, tension and pure breed. There is a lot to look forward to in this superb Syrah from Samsara." (7/2013) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Chad fashions two superb Syrahs. The 2010 Syrah Turner Vineyard (100% whole cluster, all neutral oak) has thrilling white pepper, game, exotic flowers, peach pit and darker fruit that flows seamlessly to a medium-bodied, elegant Syrah ...Read More »

2010 Favia "Rompecabezas" Amador County Rhone Blend

94 points Vinous: "The 2010 Rompecabezas is a wine of notable concentration, power and depth. A striking wine, the 2010 impresses for its dense, totally primary fruit. The aromatics have yet to fully develop in a full-bodied red that is clearly endowed with superb textural finesse and elegance. With time in the glass hints of sage, rosemary and dark red fruit begin to emerge, but only with great reluctance. The 2010 is 37% Grenache, 33% Mourvedre and 30% Syrah, done with 20% whole clusters and aged in a combination of neutral oak and concrete. Today, it is drop-dead gorgeo ...Read More »

2010 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour" Private Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Vinous: "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Freshly cut flowers, mint, spices, licorice and graphite all burst from the glass as the 2010 shows off its personality. While some of Beaulieu's 2010s are ripe and flashy, the Georges de Latour is wonderfully fresh and alive in the glass, not to mention absolutely classic in feel. Graphite, violets and pencil shavings linger on the close. The 2010 has captured every bit of the potential I sensed last year."
