2011 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Top Pick!
2011 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Silver Oak's 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was carefully and selectively harvested over more than a month at the end of the cool 2011 growing season. Blended with 14.5% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 0.5% Malbec, the varietal composition was determined early in the aging process and the blended lots were then aged in new American oak barrels for two full years. In keeping with Silver Oak's practice of releasing the wine only when it is ready to drink, the bottles were then aged an additional two years before release. From the winery... Read More »

2011 De Su Propia Cosecha "La Cosecha" Central Coast Rhône Blend

While the Central Coast is certainly known for its Pinot Noir, there are plenty of other great wines there as well. Take, for example, the wealth of Rhône-styled wines in the greater area. The 2011 De Su Propia Cosecha "La Cosecha" Central Coast Rhône Blend is one of the new steals we found on our recent Central Coast trip. With pretty tones of violet, rich pork fat, fine spices and a touch of blackberry, this juicy, plump wine was a treat and a shocking value. Cocoa powder, beef au jus and black pepper dovetail seamlessly to create a fun yet serious win... Read More »

2011 Domaine Carneros Brut Sparkling Wine

90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Insistently yeasty and charged with long-lasting bubbles and in all ways a wine of obvious refinement, this well-made Brut shows the energy and minerally edge of a good Blanc de Blancs while conveying a fine sense of volume and richness. It is dry and firmly balanced but stops short of being austere, and, if evoking the discreetly creamy traits of full autolysis one moment, it follows with structured crispness the next." (11/2015) Wine & Spirits: "'Fruit-sweet, but not sugar-sweet,' one taster commented about this wine. 'It’s what it should be.' It’s simple but delicate, w ...Read More »

2011 Philip Togni "Estate" Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $105) Top Pick!
2011 Philip Togni "Estate" Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $105)

94 points Vinous: "Pine, menthol, savory herbs, licorice, dark cherry and plum notes emerge from the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon. With time in the glass, the 2011 fleshed out beautifully while retaining a classic, mid-weight profile. My sense is that the 2011 will develop along the lines of the 1994, a wine that remains distinctly floral, savory and medium in body, with less of the explosiveness of years such as 1985 or 1997, but with tons of class and style. It is going to be interesting to find out. The 2011 was bottled just a few months ago, so I will not be surprised if it ...Read More »

2011 Grgich Hills "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Back In Stock!
2011 Grgich Hills "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright medium red-ruby. Tight aromas and flavors of dark berries and licorice complicated by tobacco, spicecake and flowers. Bright and juicy in the mouth, with a touch of sweetness counterpointed by sound acidity. Nicely avoids the greenness of the vintage and finishes with a fine dusting of tannins, good energy and moderate length." (6/2014) Wine Enthusiast: "This is a classic Napa Valley floor Cabernet, enhanced with handfuls of Petit Verdot and Merlot. Dusty in red currant and herb, it offers mellowed tannins and a peppery underbelly." (11/2014) Wine Spectator: "Well-balanced, if shade ...Read More »

2011 Joseph Swan "Zeigler Vineyard" Russian River Valley Zinfandel

Jospeh Swan began as a winemaking hobbyist in 1973, but with a little help from his friend Andre Tchelistcheff, he found that he had a true knack for creating outstanding wines. From the winery: "Medium deep garnet color. Aromas of dark berry compote with hints of fig, baking spices and black pepper. In the mouth the aromas are echoed but with a bit more brightness due to its excellent acidity. Still fairly tannic. Decanting and/ or opening a couple of hours ahead of drinking is highly recommended for this young pup!"

Fresh, vibrant and energetic to the core, this stunning, beautifully delineated Cabernet Sauvignon might need another decade to show the full breadth of its pedigree, but it's all there. 2011 Qupé "Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard - K&L Selection" Edna Valley Syrah

Arguably the most popular of the co-branded wines with our staff last year was the 2010 version of this wine so it had a lot to live up to this year. The good news is the staff is every bit as excited about it this year and we hope that enthusiasm will rub off on you. Bob Lindquist was more than happy to work with us again this year and put together this 100% Syrah bottling from certified Demeter biodynamically grown vines in the cool Edna Valley Appellation. From high-altitude vineyards atop the Mayacamas, it delivers peppercorn, herb and fine, well-integrated tannins, with mellow oak. Graphite and cedar also figure into the mix, with a shock of black cherry and cassis weaved within. Drink now through 2019." Relatively forward (especially when compared to the locked up Bone Rock), with fabulous purity and freshness, it exudes notions of creme de cassis, blueberry, pepper, crushed flowers and sweet oak on the nose. 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Green-tinged gold. Captivating, high-pitched aromas of lime zest, quince, iodine and pungent flowers. Juicy, tight and penetrating, with noteworthy clarity to its flavors of citrus fruits, minerals and toasted grain. At once lively and dense, with strong finishing cut and smoky persistence. (JR)" (6/2013) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Chardonnay Lorenzo is a successful effort in this much-maligned and excessively criticized vintage. Aromas of lemon brioche, honeyed citrus and white peaches emerge from this medium-bodied, clean, pure Chardonnay. It is best consumed over the nex ...Read More »

2011 Hall "Jack's Masterpiece" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* The 4% Petit Verdot in this dark, inky Cabernet Sauvignon is doing its job in terms of color and structure, adding much of both to the mix. Overall the wine is savory and full-bodied on the palate, with bits of spicy clove and sage around black cherry and toasted oak. Enjoy through 2030. (VB)" (2/2015) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full red-ruby. Red berries and spicy oak on the nose, along with a green pepper streak. Then a bit riper in the mouth, showing good intensity and decent depth to the currant and tobacco leaf flavors. Shows nice definition and a restrained ...Read More »

2011 Rhys "Horseshoe Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Syrah

94 points Vinous: "Inky ruby. Heady cherry compote, blackberry, olive and cola scents are sharpened by cracked pepper and minerals. Stains the palate with sweet dark fruit and floral pastille flavors, showing uncommon density and power for the vintage while remaining fresh and energetic. Bitter cherry and spicecake qualities carry through the finish, which is firmed by dusty, building tannins and juicy acidity. (JR)" (5/2014) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A step back from the bigger, richer 2012, the 2011 Syrah Horseshoe Vineyard has classic Cote Rotie-like notes of pepper, green olive tapenade, smoked m ...Read More »

2011 Rochioli "Estate" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Pinot Noir Estate is fleshy, seductive and quite pretty. Freshly cut flowers, dark red cherries, mint and anise are nicely balanced. A vinous, inviting Pinot, the 2011 is best suited for drinking over the next few years. There is a tremendous amount of early appeal here. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018." 2011 Duckhorn Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker notes: "A true mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, there is an unmistakable wildness to this wine—both in its robust structure and in the character of its fruit. Complex aromas of wild berries, dried herbs, truffle and hibiscus leap from the glass. These notes continue on the rich, firm palate, where they mingle with flavors of cassis, Mission fig, dark chocolate, mint and lavender, all supported by fine, age-worthy tannins."

2011 Bishop's Peak San Luis Obispo County Pinot Noir

Handcrafted by Talley Vineyards, Bishop's Peak offers consistently excellent values in Central Coast Pinot Noir. Thanks to El Nino, theses vineyards in Southern San Luis Obispo County received above average rainfall in 2011. A wet spring followed by a long, cool summer resulted in very low yields (30% below average) of concentrated Pinot Noir fruit for Bishop's Peak, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly over a long hang-time while preserving natually fresh acidity. The result is a delicious, balanced Pinot Noir packed with birght cherry and strawberry ar... Read More »
