2011 Stonestreet "Estate" Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Top Pick!
2011 Stonestreet "Estate" Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* This wine is quite an accomplishment in flavor and complexity given the vintage and the price. From high-altitude vineyards atop the Mayacamas, it delivers peppercorn, herb and fine, well-integrated tannins, with mellow oak. Graphite and cedar also figure into the mix, with a shock of black cherry and cassis weaved within. Drink now through 2019." (12/2015) K&L Notes: Praise for the producer from Robert Parker: "Stonestreet’s wines continue to go from strength to strength under the direction of South African winemaker Graham Weerts. 2011 Trinchero Napa Valley Meritage (Previously $40)

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a hearty Meritage employing all five red Bordeaux varieties. The color is black and the fruit equally dark and rich, offering muscular tannins around rich notes of blackberry, cedar and herb. (VB)" (3/2015) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Proprietary Red Meritage, a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 4% Malbec, reveals surprisingly soft, round, easygoing flavors of black cherries, black currants, spice and earth. 2011 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Top Pick!
2011 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Silver Oak's 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was carefully and selectively harvested over more than a month at the end of the cool 2011 growing season. Blended with 14.5% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 0.5% Malbec, the varietal composition was determined early in the aging process and the blended lots were then aged in new American oak barrels for two full years. In keeping with Silver Oak's practice of releasing the wine only when it is ready to drink, the bottles were then aged an additional two years before release. From the winery... Read More »

2011 De Su Propia Cosecha "La Cosecha" Central Coast Rhône Blend

While the Central Coast is certainly known for its Pinot Noir, there are plenty of other great wines there as well. Take, for example, the wealth of Rhône-styled wines in the greater area. The 2011 De Su Propia Cosecha "La Cosecha" Central Coast Rhône Blend is one of the new steals we found on our recent Central Coast trip. With pretty tones of violet, rich pork fat, fine spices and a touch of blackberry, this juicy, plump wine was a treat and a shocking value. Cocoa powder, beef au jus and black pepper dovetail seamlessly to create a fun yet serious win... Read More »

2011 Philip Togni "Estate" Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $105) Top Pick!
2011 Philip Togni "Estate" Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $105)

94 points Vinous: "Pine, menthol, savory herbs, licorice, dark cherry and plum notes emerge from the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon. With time in the glass, the 2011 fleshed out beautifully while retaining a classic, mid-weight profile. My sense is that the 2011 will develop along the lines of the 1994, a wine that remains distinctly floral, savory and medium in body, with less of the explosiveness of years such as 1985 or 1997, but with tons of class and style. It is going to be interesting to find out. The 2011 was bottled just a few months ago, so I will not be surprised if it ...Read More »

2011 Qupé "Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard - K&L Selection" Edna Valley Syrah

Arguably the most popular of the co-branded wines with our staff last year was the 2010 version of this wine so it had a lot to live up to this year. The good news is the staff is every bit as excited about it this year and we hope that enthusiasm will rub off on you. Bob Lindquist was more than happy to work with us again this year and put together this 100% Syrah bottling from certified Demeter biodynamically grown vines in the cool Edna Valley Appellation. Fresh, vibrant and energetic to the core, this stunning, beautifully delineated Cabernet Sauvignon might need another decade to show the full breadth of its pedigree, but it's all there. 2011 Robert Mondavi "To Kalon Vineyard Reserve" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Vinous: "Black cherries, plums, mocha, leather and cloves are some of the many notes that meld together in the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve To Kalon Vineyard. A dark, pliant, brooding wine, the 2011 has an element of gravitas that is impossible to miss. All the elements meld together nicely in the glass. Hints of black cherry jam and spices show an element of racy sweetness from the late harvest. This is the first vintage in which the Reserve is 100% To Kalon. 2011 Au Bon Climat "Pioneering-Nuits Blanches au Bouge" Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay (Elsewhere $40)

93 points Vinous: "Au Bon Climat's 2011 Chardonnay Nuits-Blanches au Bouge is quite overt within the style of the year. Yellow stone fruit, honey, mint, butter, spices and wild flowers flesh out in a supple, expressive Chardonnay endowed with notable depth and intensity. The finish alone is utterly exquisite. Jim Clendenen makes a wide range of wines across several distinct labels. I was only able to taste a smattering of representative wines, but what I saw was terrific. Relatively forward (especially when compared to the locked up Bone Rock), with fabulous purity and freshness, it exudes notions of creme de cassis, blueberry, pepper, crushed flowers and sweet oak on the nose. Full-bodied, seamless and elegant, yet with building richness and rock star length, it’s an elegant version of the cuvee to drink over the coming 15 years or more. Jospeh Swan began as a winemaking hobbyist in 1973, but with a little help from his friend Andre Tchelistcheff, he found that he had a true knack for creating outstanding wines. From the winery: "Medium deep garnet color. Aromas of dark berry compote with hints of fig, baking spices and black pepper. In the mouth the aromas are echoed but with a bit more brightness due to its excellent acidity. Still fairly tannic. Decanting and/ or opening a couple of hours ahead of drinking is highly recommended for this young pup!"

Cain Five is the estate's top blend of the five Bordeaux varietals. But, the real story is in the vineyards, which face east toward the Napa Valley below, and are just barely sheltered from the Pacific westerlies by a mountain ridge. By picking not early, but just in time, winemaker Chris Howell has taken Cain's Cabernet blends to a new level of savory flavors and complexity--or rather, allowed them to express themselves. 2011 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2011 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (96W&S, (93-95RP), 94VN, 93JS). Wine & Spirits: "The cool 2011 season turned out a pristine vintage of Monte Bello, made from Cabernet (88 percent) grown on a limestone-inflected ridge high above Silicon Valley, blended with some Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The team at Ridge let the fruit recover for two weeks following an early October storm before picking, and were more aggressive in their extraction than normal, drawing as much color and structure as possible from the delicate fruit. The aromas revolve around oak at first—anise, wood smoke, cedar bark and cinnamon—but the wood’s contribution is fine and integrated, shading gradually toward bright fruit as the finish lengthens with floral aromas and the tang of tiny, concentrated black currants. It’s even better with a day of air, as the tannins turn to velvet, allowing red-fruited acidity to take the lead and brighten the wine’s savory, p

Perhaps it’s the higher altitude Mt. Veeder AVA that was the key to her success. 2011 Pride Mountain Napa/Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points James Suckling: "Aromas of tar, dark berries and hints of walnut. Full body with velvety tannins and a juicy finish. Savory young red. Very well done for the vintage. Try in 2017." (3/2015) 92 points Vinous: "The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is dark, powerful and implosive. A cool, reticent wine, the 2011 is playing its cards close to the vest today. Plum, black cherry, graphite, rosemary, licorice and melted road tar emerge from the glass, but only reluctantly. The 2011 is big, rich and tannic. Ideally it needs a few years in bottle to fully come together. (Drink between 2016-2031) (AG) ...Read More »

2011 Williams Selyem "Allen Vineyard" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "***Cellar Selection*** You can taste the California sun in every sip of this gorgeous Pinot Noir. It brims with luscious raspberries and cherries accented by brisk acidity and a hint of sweet, smoky oak. It's terrifically complex, with notes of mushroom, orange zest, cola, rosehip tea and persimmon. Dry and elegant, with a wonderful mouthfeel, it's gorgeous now, but will gain earthy complexity over the next 15 years." (2/2014) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Black raspberry, cherry-cola and fresh flowers on the highly perfumed nose. Fleshy, nicely concentrated red fruit pres ...Read More »

2011 Kapcsandy "Roberta’s Reserve - State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

96 points Vinous: "Amazingly, the 2011 Roberta's Reserve may turn out to be better than the 2010. Today it is certainly much more polished, finessed and persistent than the bombastic 2010. Sweet herbs, wild flowers, mint and new leather are all layered together on the finish. The 2011 is all about purity, finesse and balance. What a gorgeous wine this is. The 2011 is 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc." (11/2013) 95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red-ruby. Sappy aromas of redcurrant, lavender and minerals, plus a balsamic cedary quality. Like liquid velvet in the mouth, boasting a remarkably glossy textur ...Read More »

2011 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 3L (Previously $519)

Producer Note: "Our 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant representation of Napa Valley Cabernet from a cool vintage. It presents an opaque garnet hue in the glass and reveals aromas of sandalwood and roasted meats. Flavors of vanilla, coffee beans and raspberries are buttressed by dusty tannins, firm acidity and a mouth-coating texture. Given proper cellaring, this wine should provide drinking pleasure through 2029."

2011 Bond "Matriarch" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

91 points Vinous: "The 2011 Matriarch is soft, silky and quite pretty. Naturally the 2011 is a smaller-scaled wine than normal, but there are no hard edges. I would prefer to drink the 2011 over the next few years, while the fruit is supple and forward. Hints of red cherry, mint and tobacco add to an overall impression of graciousness. (AG)" (12/2014) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The soft, round 2011 The Matriarch Proprietary Red Blend offers notes of blackcurrants, forest floor, chocolate and unsmoked cigar tobacco. This easygoing 2011 is best drunk over the next 7-8 years. (RP)" (10/2014) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby-red. ...Read More »

2011 Favia "Quarzo" Amador County Syrah

93 points Vinous: "The 2011 Quarzo appears to have even more concentration and depth than the 2010, at least today. A rich, powerful wine, the 2011 remains an infant. Expressive savory and floral notes begin to make an appearance, but only with great reluctance. This is another wine best buried in a cold corner of the cellar for at least another few years." (11/2013) 92 points Wine Spectator: "A rich, gutsy effort, intensely flavored, with firm tannins wrapped around a core of dense dark berry, mineral, black licorice, leather, cedar and fresh-turned earth. Drink now through 2024. 370 cases made. ...Read More »

2011 Donelan "Obsidian Vineyard" Knight's Valley Syrah

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From black marble-like soils, the 2011 Syrah Obsidian Vineyard is the strongest of the 2011s from the Donelan Family. Aged 22 months in 33% new French oak, this 300-case cuvee of 100% Syrah used 30% whole clusters, and was fermented with indigenous yeasts. A deep blue/black color is followed by notes of blackberries, blueberries, kirsch, licorice, camphor and a hint of barbecued meat. This full-bodied, mineral-laced, multi-dimensional, long Syrah tastes like it came from a much greater vintage than 2011. This forward and evolved wine can be drunk now and ...Read More »

2011 Favia "Rompecabezas" Amador County Rhone Blend

91 points Vinous: "The 2011 Rompecabezas comes across as a bit floral and fleeting in this vintage. The distinct floral and savory notes are there, but I see less concentration and depth overall relative to the best years. My sense is that the 2011 is a wine to drink sooner rather than later given its medium-bodied structure. (AG)" (11/2013) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Dense, rich and meaty, offering a muscular core of crushed rock, dried dark berry, black licorice and cigar box notes. This is drying on the finish, with tannins giving the flavors traction. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Drink now thro ...Read More »

2011 Seghesio "Old Vine" Sonoma County Zinfandel

92 points Wine Spectator: "Densely structured and full of character, offering bold cherry and licorice aromas that lead to layered flavors of savory plum, grilled herb and Asian spice. The finish is framed by ripe but big tannins. Best from 2016 through 2022. (TF)" (6/2014) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Zinfandel Old Vine, made from a collection of their numerous resources for old vine Zinfandel, reveals an evolved dark ruby color along with an attractive bouquet of plum sauce, raspberry jam and a hint of strawberry. Its front end-loaded style turns slightly compact and abrupt, but it is an attractive, ...Read More »
