2010 Big Basin Vineyards "Paderewski Vineyard GSM" Paso Robles Rhone Blend

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Paderewski Vineyard is strikingly beautiful. A blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre, the 2010 impresses for the way it expresses the richness of Paso Robles fruit, but in a more refined, vibrant style than is typical of Paso. The new oak is beautifully balanced here. It is absolutely fascinating and eye opening that this wine tastes nothing like the wines being made in Paso from the very same site. This is a wine of pure finesse and elegance above all else. All of the fruit was picked between October 21 and 29. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020. ...Read More »

2009 Big Basin Vineyards "Homestead" Santa Cruz/Monterey Red Blend

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Homestead is 46% Grenache, 43% Syrah and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, mostly sourced from estate vineyards. This attractive red wine fleshes out nicely in the glass, with compelling dark fruit, sweet spices and flowers. Floral notes reappear on the finish adding brightness and lift. The Homestead is an attractive, fruit-forward offering best enjoyed over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. Bradley Brown crafts gorgeous artisan wines from his vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Monterey County. The wines are fermented with ambi ...Read More »

2014 Aubert "UV Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As for the 2014 Pinot Noir UV, this wine comes two-thirds from the Calera clone of Pinot Noir and the rest from a Vosne-Romanée clone (which we all know, but no one’s saying, probably emanated from the famous Domaine de la Romanée Conti estate). Lots of soft strawberry, sweet cherry and blueberry notes emerge from this wine, giving it a Côte de Nuits-like character. Slightly lighter than the Ritchie, feminine, fragrant, and beautifully round and juicy, this wine should drink well young and last ten or more years. (RP)" (12/2015) 92 points Vinous: "The 2014 Pinot Noir UV Vine ...Read More »

2010 Big Basin Vineyards "Homestead" Santa Cruz/Monterey Red Blend

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Big Basin’s 2010 Homestead is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre. Violets, black cherries, plums, menthol and tar are some of the many notes that develop in the glass. This is a pretty, mid-weight Rhone blend that shows the freshness of the year. I very much like the understated fleshiness here. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015. I tasted a bevy of gorgeous wines with proprietor Bradley Brown this year. These new and upcoming releases are impeccable and strongly suggest Brown is one of the up and coming stars of the region. I can hardly wait to see ...Read More »

2007 Big Basin Vineyards "Fairview Road Ranch" Santa Lucia Highlands Syrah

91 points Vinous: "Deep ruby-red. Pungent, expressive bouquet displays blackberry, boysenberry, cracked pepper and smoky mineral scents, with nuances of pipe tobacco and herbs adding complexity. Broad and sweet but also spicy, with tangy red and dark berry flavors and a sexy suggestion of candied flowers. Closes down on the finish, with the spice and pepper notes repeating. This benefited from air and should be even better with a few more years of bottle aging. (JR)" (11/2009) 90 points Wine Spectator: "This intense, firm red is marked by full-bodied, beefy currant, cranberry, herb and sage flavors th ...Read More »

2011 Big Basin Vineyards "Rattlesnake Rock" Santa Cruz Mountains Syrah

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing lots of cool climate white pepper, mulberry, sappy pine tree and underbrush, the 2011 Syrah Rattlesnake Rock is medium-bodied, vibrant and juicy on the palate. There's a sappy greenness here, but it works and this excels on its purity, prettiness and elegance. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years. (JD)" (10/2015) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated ruby. Pungent dark berries, olive and smoked meat on the perfumed nose. Sweet and tightly focused, displaying very good clarity to its juicy boysenberry and dark cherry flavors. Shows real energy on the finish, with the smoky note ...Read More »

2011 Big Basin Vineyards "Odeon" Santa Cruz Mountains Red Blend

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even better, the 2011 Syrah Cabernet Odeon is gorgeous on all account. Cassis, black raspberry, lead pencil, mint and violets all emerge from the glass, and this medium to full-bodied, seamless and elegant blend will thrill for over a decade. (JD)" (8/2014) 92 points Vinous: "A blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2011 Odeon is quite pretty in this vintage. Dark red and black stone fruits, grilled herbs, smoke and licorice meld together in a supple, effortless wine that captures the best of what was possible in this very challenging growing season. (Drink between 2014- ...Read More »

2012 Big Basin "Odeon" Central Coast Red Blend

94 points Vinous: "One of the stars in this lineup, the 2012 Odeon is a blend of Syrah from Brosseau and Cabernet Sauvignon from Betcher, a combination that works beautifully. Striking aromatics meld into a deep, pliant core of fruit as the 2012 shows off its striking personality. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, new leather and smoke add nuance in a wine loaded with pure appeal. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. The 2012 captures all of the potential I saw in barrel last year. (AG)" (7/2015)
