2014 Cep (Peay Vineyards) Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Winemaker Notes: "The 2014 Cep pinot noir is really delicious. It is made up mostly of barrels from the 35 acres of Pinot noir we grow at our estate vineyard. The remaining barrels come from Campbell Vineyard and the Occidental region of the Sonoma Coast. The 2014 delivers the balance, elegance and complexity you would expect from de-classified barrels of Peay Vineyards Estate Pinot noirs. The high toned nose is captivating with raspberry/strawberry notes mingled with deeper anise and tea notes. The mouth feel is round though precise with a medium length... Read More »

2013 Kistler "Vine Hill" Russian River Valley Chardonnay

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From the vineyard in front of the winery, the 2013 Chardonnay Vine Hill Road Vineyard offers up the classic Old Wente clone style of white peach, white currants, honeysuckle, apple blossom, medium to full body, gorgeous purity and richness in a style similar to a Corton Charlemagne from Burgundy. (RP)" (3/2016) 94 points Vinous: "The 2013 Chardonnay Vine Hill is one of the more aromatic, lifted wines in this range. Gracious and delicate to the core, the 2013 is quite understated in this vintage, perhaps because the slightly higher than normal yields bring out more of the flo ...Read More »

2012 Pied á Terre Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

A collaboration between New York sommelier Richard Luftig and Sonoma native Clay Mauritson. According to the winery: "The 2012 growing season provided ideal conditions for grape growing. The vintage was bountiful and provided beautiful ripe red fruits and excellent phenolic concentration. Our fruit came from some of the best vineyards in Sonoma: Grable (Knights Valley), Mauritson (Alexander Valley), Chamizal (Sonoma Valley), Rockpile (Rockpile AVA), Aunt Cathy (Dry Creek Valley), Wild Iris (Chalk Hill), and Clajeaux Vineyard (Sonoma Valley). As usual, th... Read More »

2013 Cep (Peay Vineyards) Sonoma Coast Syrah

Vinous: "The 2013 Syrah is another pretty, plummy, entry-level wine with lovely fruit to match its mid-weight personality. Drink the 2013 over the next year or two, while the flavors remain bright and focused. The Syrah is the only Cep wine that is made 100% from Peay estate fruit. The wines from Cep Vineyards, Peay's second label, reliably deliver solid quality and value." (1/2016)

1979 St. Clement Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (6L) (Previously $500)

Not dissimilar to the wonderful '77--deep, rich and concentrated black fruits, ample tannins and drinking quite nicely at this point. 90 points from the Wine Spectator. St. Clement continues to fly under the radar, great for folks who wish to drink quality aged wine at what has to be considered a bargain price. (Joe Zugelder, K&L Old and Rare Buyer)

2009 Gemstone Vineyard Estate Napa Valley Red Wine

90-93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep medium ruby. Vibrant aromas of crystallized blackberry and rocky minerality. Tightly wound and backward, even youthfully tough today; this could support a longer than normal elevage. Finishes with substantial tannins. More site-typical than vintage-typical, this masculine, Pauillac-like wine will need patience once it's bottled." (6/2011) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Red Wine is a gorgeous, fleshy offering laced with expressive dark red fruit, flowers, mint and licorice. It shows wonderful radiance and silkiness in a hugely approachable and flat-out delicious st ...Read More »

2012 Kenneth Volk "Enz Vineyard" Lime Kiln Valley Mourvèdre

The little-known Lime Kiln Valley AVA is located 23 miles east of Monterey Bay, in a unique geological setting created by the San Andreas Fault. With soil of decomposed granite and limestone, plus the cooling benefit of the nearby ocean, it's ideally situated to producing bright, lip-smackingly food-friendly Mourvèdre. Seven acres of Mourvèdre was planted at Enz Vineyard back in 1922, and has been dry farmed ever since. Kenneth Volk first got his hands on some of these grapes in 1994, and has been making an elegant wine each year that exudes aromas of of... Read More »

1995 Pride Mountain Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points and a Highly Recommended designation from the Wine Spectator: "Dark, ripe and high in extract, this wine is overflowing with young currant, anise, plum and spicy Cabernet flavors from the first sip to the last. Turns complex on the finish, where it picks up a dusty, cedary, chocolaty accent. Best from 1999 through 2004." (11/97)

2003 Big Basin Vineyards Rattlesnake Rock Syrah Santa Cruz Mountains (Previously $50)

90 points Robert Parker: "The 2003 Syrah Rattlesnake Rock Vineyard possesses copious notes of spicy vanillin along with hints of crushed rocks, charcoal, creme de cassis, and pepper. This harmonious, medium to full-bodied, concentrated, full-flavored Syrah should drink well for 7-8 years. This small estate, which produced only 140 cases in 2003 and 375 in 2004, exhibits considerable potential." (06/05) K&L's notes - This is the second vintage of this very limited Syrah made by Bradley Brown at his new estate above China Grade. The vineyards are planted... Read More »

2004 Peay Vineyards "Les Titans" Sonoma Coast Syrah

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated ruby. Explosively aromatic, room-filling bouquet of blueberry, blackcurrant, licorice, smoked meat, baking spices and dried flowers. Lush and sweet, with expansive dark berry liqueur flavors and a gentle suggestion of tangy minerality lending energy and lift. Picks up an exotic cinnamon toast quality on the impressively long, juicy finish. This is really impressive." (5/2007) 92 points Wine & Spirits: "Les Titans, named for the redwoods that surround the Peay Vineyard in Annapolis, is a selection of the meatier Syrah, a wine Andy Peay describes as more brooding and somewha ...Read More »

2006 Big Basin "Fairview Road Ranch" Santa Lucia Highlands Syrah

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Syrah Fairview Ranch, from the Santa Lucia Highlands, is more evolved from a structural standpoint, with a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, alcohol, and wood. It is broad yet elegant, with pure cassis and blackberry fruit, a hint of spring flowers, and a distinct earthiness. At present, this cuvee appears to be the safest choice. (RP)" (6/2008) 91 points Wine & Spirits: "2006 Santa Lucia Highlands Fairview Ranch Syrah A big-shouldered syrah with rich, velvety tannins, this shows full-on Santa?Lucia Highlands ripeness checked by the fine white pepper and savory smoke ...Read More »

2013 Williams Selyem "Olivet Lane" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "***Cellar Selection*** Silky, with pronounced tannins that should mellow in time, this is an earthy, stemmy and perfumed wine. Succulent and balanced, it’s brightly exuberant in black cherry yet brooding and complex throughout, changing slightly from savory to floral and back again. It’s an incredible wine out of the gate; cellar with confidence, through 2021. (VB)" (7/2015) 92 points Vinous: "The 2013 Pinot Noir Olivet Lane Vineyard is open, immediate and seductive, with radiant, expressive fruit and fabulous overall balance. 1980 St. Clement Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (6L) (Previously $500)

The house and grounds that St. Clement Vineyards is situated on were constructed in 1878. Passed on to several different owners over the decades, winemaking has always occurred at the estate. The current winery, founded in 1975, seeks to maintain those deep roots in Napa Valley history. This vintage was produced by winemaker Dennis Johns during his 19-year stint at St. Clement. Though Johns has since moved onto other projects, he helped establish St. Clement's reputation for producing premium wines, particularly intense, fruit-driven Cabernet Sauvignon.

2011 Big Basin Vineyards "Rattlesnake Rock" Santa Cruz Mountains Syrah

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing lots of cool climate white pepper, mulberry, sappy pine tree and underbrush, the 2011 Syrah Rattlesnake Rock is medium-bodied, vibrant and juicy on the palate. There's a sappy greenness here, but it works and this excels on its purity, prettiness and elegance. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years. (JD)" (10/2015) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated ruby. Pungent dark berries, olive and smoked meat on the perfumed nose. Sweet and tightly focused, displaying very good clarity to its juicy boysenberry and dark cherry flavors. Shows real energy on the finish, with the smoky note ...Read More »
