2014 Cep (Peay Vineyards) Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Winemaker Notes: "The 2014 Cep pinot noir is really delicious. It is made up mostly of barrels from the 35 acres of Pinot noir we grow at our estate vineyard. The remaining barrels come from Campbell Vineyard and the Occidental region of the Sonoma Coast. The 2014 delivers the balance, elegance and complexity you would expect from de-classified barrels of Peay Vineyards Estate Pinot noirs. The high toned nose is captivating with raspberry/strawberry notes mingled with deeper anise and tea notes. The mouth feel is round though precise with a medium length... Read More »

1997 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Back In Stock!
1997 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Wine & Spirits: "(no tasting note given)" (6/2001) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Cassis, violet and lightly tarry, spicy oak. Ripe, dense and very concentrated; thick and deep. Not at all overly sweet or dominated by the wood. Has superb material and verve. Finishes very long, with thoroughly ripe tannins. The finest vintage for this wine in a long time, and one that avoids the excesses of (American) oak that have plagued so many recent vintages." (12/2000) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at 'The Sampler' icon tasting in London. The nose is still very closed but begins to open with aeration with burnt match, tertiar ...Read More »

2012 Pied á Terre Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

A collaboration between New York sommelier Richard Luftig and Sonoma native Clay Mauritson. According to the winery: "The 2012 growing season provided ideal conditions for grape growing. The vintage was bountiful and provided beautiful ripe red fruits and excellent phenolic concentration. Our fruit came from some of the best vineyards in Sonoma: Grable (Knights Valley), Mauritson (Alexander Valley), Chamizal (Sonoma Valley), Rockpile (Rockpile AVA), Aunt Cathy (Dry Creek Valley), Wild Iris (Chalk Hill), and Clajeaux Vineyard (Sonoma Valley). As usual, th... Read More »

2013 Cep (Peay Vineyards) Sonoma Coast Syrah

Vinous: "The 2013 Syrah is another pretty, plummy, entry-level wine with lovely fruit to match its mid-weight personality. Drink the 2013 over the next year or two, while the flavors remain bright and focused. The Syrah is the only Cep wine that is made 100% from Peay estate fruit. (AG)" (1/2016)

2015 Pied á Terre Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc

Richard Luftig spent 20 years as a professional wine buyer in New York before turning his focus to making wine in Sonoma. His raison d'être is to make soulful wines for affordable prices that meet his exacting standards (he'd rather scrap a whole vintage than bottle something that doesn't). Along with winemaker Clay Mauritson, he crafts a Sauvignon Blanc from two vineyards in Bennett Valley that, according to his tasting notes, has a "restrained, subtle aroma of lime and sour green apple." This is easy drinking and fresh, with a great mouthfeel.

1997 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An inky/plum/purple color is accompanied by a stunning bouquet of violets, charcoal, creme de cassis and a hint of toast. Prodigious when it hits the palate with a full-bodied expansiveness, there is not a hard edge to be found in the 1997, only velvety tannins, compelling depth and fruit intensity, and stunning purity. It is a perfect expression of Napa viticulture and wine that should continue to age effortlessly for two decades or more. (RP)" (11/2013) 97 points Wine Spectator: "Dense, rich and focused, youthful and concentrated, with hints of maturity on the edge of the core cur ...Read More »

2013 Aubert "UV Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The rich, prodigious, full-bodied 2013 Pinot Noir UV, made from the Calera and Vosne-Romanée clones, is a denser, richer wine offering abundant notes of blueberries, blackberries, forest floor and strong hints of Asian hoisin sauce, dark fruits and forest floor. There are approximately 1,000 cases of this sensational Pinot, which Mark Aubert decanted 12 hours in advance of my visit. There is not a trace of new oak in this wine, which spent 10 months in 100% new barrels. Like all the 2013 Pinot Noirs, it has a decade or more of aging potential. (RP) ...Read More »

2013 Turley "Dogtown" Lodi Zinfandel

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, slightly lower acidity, and a big, fleshy, full-bodied, multi-layered mouthfeel characterize the 2013 Zinfandel Dogtown Vineyard from Lodi. This vineyard was planted in 1944 on rolling hills largely composed of volcanic soils and come clay. The 2013 is a terrific example of Dogtown and stands out as one of the great successes Larry Turley and his winemaking team have had in this vineyard they have farmed for so long. The alcohol is heady (15.9%), but again, it throws the myth of excessive alcohol under the bus. The wine ...Read More »

2013 Williams Selyem "Olivet Lane" Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "***Cellar Selection*** Silky, with pronounced tannins that should mellow in time, this is an earthy, stemmy and perfumed wine. Succulent and balanced, it’s brightly exuberant in black cherry yet brooding and complex throughout, changing slightly from savory to floral and back again. It’s an incredible wine out of the gate; cellar with confidence, through 2021. (VB)" (7/2015) 92 points Vinous: "The 2013 Pinot Noir Olivet Lane Vineyard is open, immediate and seductive, with radiant, expressive fruit and fabulous overall balance. Silky tannins add considerable polish to the sua ...Read More »

2011 Big Basin Vineyards "Rattlesnake Rock" Santa Cruz Mountains Syrah (Previously $50)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing lots of cool climate white pepper, mulberry, sappy pine tree and underbrush, the 2011 Syrah Rattlesnake Rock is medium-bodied, vibrant and juicy on the palate. There's a sappy greenness here, but it works and this excels on its purity, prettiness and elegance. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years. (JD)" (10/2015) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Saturated ruby. Pungent dark berries, olive and smoked meat on the perfumed nose. Sweet and tightly focused, displaying very good clarity to its juicy boysenberry and dark cherry flavors. Shows real energy on the finish, with the smoky note ...Read More »
