90 points Wine Spectator: "*Ranked #40, Top 100 Wines of 2015* Graceful, with fragrant orange blossom, ruby grapefruit and white peach flavors that are fresh and lively, set on a light, lithe body. Appealing lime zest and passion fruit accents show on the long finish. Drink now. 38,000 cases made." (11/2015) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc Pomelo (only 44,000 cases produced) is elegant, crisp, and probably has some residual sugar, but it is light-bodied, fresh and quite enticing. (RP) Mason Cellars certainly knows how to deliver quality and value. The three whites are all big crowd-please ...Read More »
"Year in and year out one of our best values is Pinot Noir. If you don't believe me, just ask any K&L customer." (Illya Haase, K&L Staff Member) This wine comes to us from Sonoma County's Martin Ray Winery, owned by Courtney Benham (creator of the Blackstone brand). This multi-county blend of Pinot Noir has been well-received in recent years, maybe not tipping the point-scales over 90, but earning consistent praise for the solid, varietal character it delivers for only a modest fee.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Crisp, tart, melon, tangerine and bubble gum-like aromas jump from the glass of this 2013 Chenin Blanc/Viognier (80% and 20% respectively). Aged totally in stainless steel, it no doubt has much of its malolactic fermentation blocked given its crisp acid profile." (11/2014) K&L Notes: Last call on the 2013 Vintage! Pine Ridge's Chenin Blanc-Viognier blend has impressed drinkers and critics alike. And now, what started as an experiment in the early-1990s, has become one of the winery's most sought after wines. From the winery: "Brilliant and refreshing, this bottling o... Read More »
92 points Wine & Spirits: "First produced by the Wetzel family in 1978, Sin Zin now comes from vineyards throughout Alexander Valley, from the valley floor to the benchlands and hills. While this wine’s name might suggest excess, it’s not an excessive Zinfandel at all. In fact, it’s quite clean and balanced, its mouthwatering acidity carrying refreshing black raspberry and bay laurel aromas through a cool, granular structure that feels earthy yet polished." (3/2015) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Slightly less concentrated and savory, but still meritorious is the 2012 Sin Zin, a broad, round, juicy Zinfandel reve ...Read More »
Producer notes: "Dark garnet in color with a bouquet that is full of dark berry fruit, such as Blueberry, Blackberry and Black Cherry. Oak aging has contributed just a hint of smoke to the nose. The round, creamy wine delivers an abundance of the fruit flavors promised by the olfactory. The fruit and oak are well integrated and the complexity of the wine plays on the tongue long after the wine has been ingested."
From the winery: "Dark purple in color, this 2012 Mambo Red Blend showcases some earthy mushroom and sweet leather aromatics that take a turn to sweet plum and dark blackberry fruit with hints of Herbs De Provence and toasted cedar. In the mouth, the wine has a rich and wonderful depth showcasing flavors of black currants, molasses, tart black cherry, plum sauce, and hints of preserved orange rind, toasted dill, and blackened marshmallow. Our 2012 Hey Mambo red blend brings wonderful rich color and a layered decadent wine to your table. You can see eleme... Read More »
A perennial value-based favorite, Ravenswood's Vintners Blend Shiraz packs big punches full of mulberry, dark chocolate and roasted meats. Made by one of California's iconic producers.
According to the winery: "The 2014 California Sauvignon Blanc has aromas of pineapple, ripe stone fruit and citrus. The wine fills the palate with bright fruit flavors and a round fullness, finishing with crisp, refreshing acidity. Throughout California, the 2014 growing season produced one of the best vintages to date. A dry winter followed by light spring rains and a warm, temperate summer caused fruit to mature slightly faster than normal resulting in optimal ripeness with a good balance of sugar and acidity in time for harvest. The warmer tropical a... Read More »
From the winery: "For three decades, we’ve crafted flavorful Chardonnay grapes from the Edna Valley into award-winning wine. Our Edna Valley Vineyard Chardonnay displays an attractive bouquet of quince, pear, ripe apple, apricot and light pineapple, with underlying brown spice notes of cinnamon and clove. Wine Enthusiast: "*Best Buy* Welcoming and easy to drink, this full-bodied wine has mellow, ripe fruit flavors, light oaky accents and a warm sense of ripeness that doesn’t go over the top. Subtle tannins support the texture while keeping it smooth. The blend includes Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah." (11/2015) Wine Spectator: "Soft and straightforward, with modest notes of raspberry and spicy herb. Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Sirah. (Web Only—2015)" K&L Notes: A juicy blend of California’s of Old Vine Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Sirah, thi... Read More »
Jancis Robinson: "Slightly grassy creamy citrus aroma. Very creamy texture, almost unctuous even with such crisp acidity. Likely to be QGV (Quite Good Value). (JH)" (9/2015) Wine & Spirits: "Leesy richness gives this wine’s jasmine aroma a toasty counterpoint. The texture is cool, with pear skin astringency." (8/2015) K&L Notes: From Central Coast winemaker Stephen Ross.
89 points Wine Spectator: "*Smart Buys* An appealing touch of coconut water adds some richness to the peach, melon and citrus flavors, with accents of floral, citrus zest and mango. Drink now." (11/2015) Wine Enthusiast: "This white is quite tropical, with a hot, spicy note of jalapeño. Light in terms of texture and body, it finishes with a suggestion of orange peel and mango." (12/2015)
Wine Spectator: "A zesty little Zin, with just enough dried cherry, plum, toasty herb and spice flavors to keep this fun and interesting. Drink now through 2018." (6/2014)
Connoisseurs Guide: "*Good Value* Mixing light notes of lemon zest with wet grass and weedy notes in its clean, if modest aromas, this medium-bodied effort comes with more than a bit of early roundness by way of invitation and finds decent balance from mid-palate to finish. It ends with an edge of trailing bitterness, but even that aspect gives it a useful bit of sinew at the back." (12/2014) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Sauvignon Blanc Pomelo (55,000 cases) is a more exotic white, it offers notes of tropical fruits, fresh acids, a honeyed mid-palate, and soft, off-dry flavors. This white wine de ...Read More »
Wine Enthusiast: "This is a slightly grassy, green white wine that fans of this style may enjoy; others not so much. Light in alcohol, it has medium body and crispness." (7/2015) K&L Notes: From the winery: "Napa Valley's complex and varied soil types are the result of volcanic activity, ocean incursions and mountain water run-off that have occurred over millennia. Our Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from vineyards that are blessed with the ideal soil and weather conditions to create delicious fruit with concentrated flavors, ideally balanced acidity and rich, aromatic qualities. Wine Enthusiast: "This stainless study shows crisp and ripe yellow apple flesh, with white rock and slate minerality. Apples, from Golden Delicious to red, also dominate the flavor profile, which is straightforward and accessible, though not complex." (5/2015) Wine Spectator: "This offers a mix of citrus-infused green apple, pineapple and mango notes, presented in a fresh, snappy style, with flavors that linger on the finish. Drink now through 2019." (6/2015)

89 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Best Buy* There was no oak used on this stainless steel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc, but it does contain a splash of Viognier. It’s dry, crisp in acidity and savory in lime, orange, kumquat and vanilla flavors that finish long and clean. It will pair with everything from bruschetta with olive tapenade to fried chicken, Chinese food and sushi." (6/2014) Wine Spectator: "A grassy, fresh hay note forms a pleasant accent to the vivid lemon and lime flavors. Light-bodied and juicy overall."
