1989 Harlan Estate "Fourth Leaf" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 1989 Harlan Estate "Fourth Leaf" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend. Bob Levy, Harlan Estate: "Modest quantities of wine were produced in 1987, 1988, and 1989 from grapes that represented the second, third, and fourth leaf of our estate vineyard. In each of those years a small number of barrels were produced in the hope of gaining a prescient glimpse into what the character of the land - never before cultivated - might have to offer. The wines were blended, bottled, and labeled with a special designation...1989 Fourth Leaf. A cooler vintage for Napa Valley. Flowering in late May, véraison mid-August. Our site enjoyed moderate, even summer temperatures. Harvest commenced September 5 and finished a mere 20 days later, drawn from just 24 producing acres. The blend that went to bottle was predominantly Merlot. A wine of medium-garnet color, with floral notes, tending to herbs and minerals. In the mouth it’s red currant, cherry compote, and spicy sage. Strikingly harmonious an

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Kistler "Cuvée Catherine-Occidental Station" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir ((95-97RP), 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The compelling 2007 Pinot Noir Cuvee Catherine from the Occidental Station Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast is made entirely from the Calera clone. Deep ruby/purple with crushed raspberries, violets, Chinese black tea, and chalky, almost wet stone-like notes, the wine is rich, full-bodied, multi-dimensional, with superb depth and length, and a remarkable finish. 2009 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (97WE, 93WS, 91CG). Wine Enthusiast: "So delicious now, you can hardly keep your hands off it. Blackberry tart, ripe blueberry, cassis, milk chocolate, licorice and sweet, smoky cedar flavors flood the mouth, dramatically huge and memorable, and lasting long into the finish. The tannins are obvious, but sweetly ripe and soft. A brilliant evocation of Napa Cabernet, despite a high production level of nearly 30,000 cases, which is about the same size as a Bordeaux first growth. Shows the class and potency this bottling has exhibited for many years, and believe it or not, the price is a is a relative bargain these days." (03/2012)

A wonderfully perfumed nose of violets, crushed blackberries, black cherries, mace and cloves leading into some smoked meat and mocha aromas with swirling. Very structured on the palate with high acidity, a medium to high level of fine tannins and a full body providing plenty of flesh in the mid-palate. Very long layered finish. (LPB)" (05/2010)

1979 Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1979 Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Four Stars Michael Broadbent: "First [tasted] in cask: high-toned, 'whole fruit' character as if macerated. Showing well in 1985, tannic, bell-pepper flavour. Next, a magnum in Houston in 1992: still very deep, black cherry colour; excellent fruit, perfect balance, fleshy, lovely." 2006 Sloan Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Sloan Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 97WS, 93JS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 is performing even better from bottle than it did from barrel. Sloan and McClellan decided to bottle it later than usual, recognizing the rugged, tough tannins of the vintage could be sweetened up with longer barrel aging. Their strategy worked. The wine’s dense ruby/purple color is followed by notes of white chocolate, burning embers, creme de cassis, coffee, and scorched earth (think Haut-Brion or La Mission Haut-Brion). It possesses terrific structure, melted, well-integrated tannins, full body, and is already bursting with complexity. A great success, it is one of the vintage’s most thrilling wines. Drink it over the next 20-25 years. 98+ points. (RP)" (12/2009)

2002 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Peter Michael "Les Pavots" Knights Valley Bordeaux Blend (99RP, 94ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A great, great success...the 2002 Les Pavots, which I loved from barrel as well as bottle, still has a good 20+ years of life ahead of it. At this point, it is tasting like a vigorous young adolescent in its evolutionary development... Inky black/purple, with a nose of incense, licorice, balsamic and Asian soy notes interwoven with blackberry, blueberry and hints of truffle and camphor, this wine is full-bodied, opulent and voluptuously textured, with sensational mid-palate, depth and richness. This is a killer Bordeaux-styled, ripe, exuberant, flamboyant red from Peter Michael that stands as one of the all-time great Les Pavots cuvees ever made. It ideally needs another 3-4 years of cellaring, although it is quite accessible and should keep for a minimum of 20 or more years. Bravo! (RP)" (06/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend ((98-100RP), (93-95VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Called a classic JBV by Justin and possibly rivaling the sensational 2007, the 2013 James Berry Vineyard Proprietary Blend (45% Grenache, 29% Mourvèdre, 18% Syrah, 8% Counoise) sports a vibrant purple color to go with layered and decadent notes of violets, blueberries, blackberries, peppery herbs and crushed rock. Made in a more elegant, seamless style than the '07, it's nevertheless full-bodied, utterly seamless, silky and polished, with incredible purity and length on the finish. Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1978 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Over the years, my notes on the 1978 B.V. Private Reserve have been wildly inconsistent. In this tasting (February, 1995), the wine performed up to its highest standards, displaying fully mature aromas of roasted herbs, red and blackcurrants and cherries intertwined with caramel and spice notes. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Sine Qua Non "Patine - Eleven Confessions Vineyard" Santa Rita Hills Grenache (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Coming all from Manfred's Eleven Confessions Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills and a blend of 77% Grenache, 22% Syrah and 1% Viognier (fermented with 25% whole clusters), the 2011 Grenache Patine spent a full 33 months in almost all neutral oak, with just 11% being new. It offers perfumed and spice-laced notes of white pepper, black raspberry, blackberry and ground herbs that flow to a full-bodied, elegant, nicely concentrated 2011 that has nicely integrated acidity, no hard edges and a terrific finish. It's certainly one of the fresher, more elegant Grenaches from Manfred, yet it still has rocking levels of fruit. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and enjoy bottles over the following decade. It boasts an opaque purple color as well as copious notes of spring flowers, blackberries, black raspberries and wet rocks. The wine’s gravelly minerality and spectacular opulence and density make it an instant classic. This massive, full-bodied 2012 should drink beautifully for 15-20+ years. It showed incredibly well last year, and it still reveals the potential to possibly merit a 3-digit score – it’s that special. (RP)" (10/2014)

The finish goes on for a good 40-45 seconds. This is sensational Chardonnay and very much in keeping with this vineyard. Drink now-2020. (RP)" (08/2015)

2011 Abreu "Madrona Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 2011 Abreu "Madrona Ranch" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 95VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From the back hills of St. Helena, in the direction of Spring Mountain, comes Abreu’s first single-vineyard offering from vineyards planted in 1982, the Madrona Ranch. This cuvée usually contains at least 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and one of the highest percentages of Cabernet Franc, ranging from 33% to 45%. Tiny quantities of Petit Verdot and Merlot are also added, depending on how they fared in any given vintage. Last year I mentioned that the 2011 Proprietary Red Madrona Ranch was one of the rare Abreu wines that showed a little herbaceousness, but that has completely aged out. There is now a forest floor intensity to this full-bodied, opaque purple-colored 2011. After spending 26 months in 100% new oak, it exhibits great fruit, concentration and intensity. The fact that Abreu and Grimes do malolactic in their new oak barrels seems to integrate the wood better t

There are approximately 1,000 cases of this sensational Pinot, which Mark Aubert decanted 12 hours in advance of my visit. 2002 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2002 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Monte Bello Proprietary Red is a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. It tastes as if it hasn’t changed since I first sampled it in late 2003 and then again in bottle two years later. The color is healthy ruby/purple, and the wine displays some dusty, oaky, vanillin notes that jump out of the glass along with a touch of white chocolate as well as red and black currants and hints of cedar and forest floor. Extremely young and full-bodied, with some wood char still present, it is unevolved and tastes like it could be a barrel sample, except that it has been in bottle for nearly ten years! This is a blockbuster Ridge Monte Bello that still needs a minimum of another 10 years of bottle-age and should keep for 50+ years. Only for the young and patient!

The finest Syrah John Alban has yet produced, its inky/ruby/purple hue is accompanied by gorgeously sweet aromas of flowers, blueberries, black raspberries, blackberries, and subtle hints of smoky oak, bacon fat, and licorice. It is a big, concentrated Pinot Noir that makes a mockery of all the over-cropped Pinots that are promoted as "authentic expressions of terroir," when in fact, they are made from over-cropped vineyards and prey on those not familiar with what top-flight Pinot Noirs should taste like. 1974 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1974 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (100VN, 92RP). Vinous: "Remarkably dark and vivid, especially for a wine of its age, the 1974 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Bello is a reference point for what California Cabernet Sauvignon can be. The 1974 is sweet, perfumed and impeccably balanced, with remarkable depth and exceptional harmony. All the elements are in the right place. The 1974 is an utterly moving, transcendental wine that takes me back to the handful of greatest California Cabernet Sauvignons I have ever tasted. Quite simply, this is as good as it gets. Interestingly, Paul Draper adds that the 1974 took 20-25 years to show the full breadth of its potential. The 1974 was made entirely from the original 1940s plantings, including a parcel believed to be one of the three oldest surviving Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in California. It goes without saying, but readers who still own the 1974 should be thrilled. To be honest, it is

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Kistler "Cuvée Elizabeth - Bodega Headlands" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (95RP, 95ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Bodega Headlands Cuvee Elizabeth comes across as a bit firmer and less expressive than the Cuvee Catherine. There is a salty, saline quality that runs through the fruit in this powerful, structured wine. Waves of fruit crescendo on the explosive finish. Full-bodied, fleshy and succulent, with sweet tannins in the finish, this 2002 has not yet hit full maturity. Give it another 2-4 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following two decades. 2010 Larkmead "LMV Salon" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2010 Larkmead "LMV Salon" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (97VN, 96JS, 94RP, 94ST). Vinous: "The 2010 Proprietary Red Wine LMV Salon is rich, dark and seamless. Vivid notes of graphite, pencil shavings, plums, cassis and grilled savory herbs come to life in a vivid, kaleidoscopic wine of notable pedigree. The aromatics alone are breathtaking, but the truth is that everything about the 2010 is phenomenal. Endless layers of fruit flow through to the complex, insanely beautiful finish. This is a dazzling effort. I can't wait to see how the 2010 develops over the coming year. The 2010 LMV Salon is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and 9% Petit Verdot. (AG)" (12/2012)

Connoisseurs Guide: "Intensely aromatic and redolent of raspberries, cassis, cocoa and touches of loam, this very rich and powerful young wine follows through with wonderfully concentrated flavors that are every bit as big and fully filled as expected. Although its sheer sense of mass and immediacy will hold it in reasonable stead as a near-term partner to meats on the bone, it has the strength and the structure to grow even better with time and deserves a wait of at least five years if not ten." Of the 1995 Joseph Phelps Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon spent 16 months in cask (primarily French oak), and was bottled with minimal filtration. It exhibits a dark ruby/purple color, as well as an attractive black cherry, cassis, and dried herb-scented nose with spicy oak. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Kapcsandy Family Winery "State Lane Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "98+ points. The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, which was 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc (600 cases), reveals loads of licorice, graphite, and blackcurrants in a sexy, toasty style with hints of earth, loamy soil notes and a floral underpinning. The wine is fragrant, with great intensity, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and almost a Mouton-Rothschild-like crème de cassis element. It is deep, medium to full-bodied, rich and quite youthful at age ten. The wine is not as complex as it is certainly very young. (RP)" (06/2015)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2011 Sine Qua Non "Patine - Eleven Confessions Vineyard" Santa Rita Hills Syrah (98RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine that needs to be forgotten in the cellar for 5-6 years, the 2011 Syrah Patine checks in as a blend of roughly 97% Syrah and the balance Roussanne and Viognier. It too comes all from the estate's Eleven Confessions Vineyard and saw 39 months in 63% new French oak. Backward, tight, concentrated and structured, with full-bodied richness and depth, it gives up Guigal La Landonne like aromas and flavors of graphite, sweet oak, smoked meats, pepper and black raspberry and cassis-like fruit. While it shows the vintage's cooler nature, it has a stacked mid-palate and will evolve gracefully for 15-20 years. (JD)" (08/2015)

The tannins are quite firm and suggest the 2008 will require considerable patience. Readers who can wait will be treated to a superb wine. This thick, opaque-purple colored wine offers up notes of scorched earth, ground pepper, and blackberry liqueur intermixed with cassis, licorice, camphor, and tar. This full-bodied classic displays notes of forest floor, earth, crème de cassis, blackberry liqueur, licorice and some pen ink. 2012 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2012 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection has a dense blackish/purple color and creamy, sweet crème de cassis fruit, blackberries, a touch of graphite and vanilla, This exuberant, boisterous, in-your-face style of Cabernet Sauvignon is clearly a fruit bomb, so be warned. Full-bodied and opulent with stunning concentration and richness, the wine has no hard edges and is much in the Caymus style of terrific fruit intensity (most of it black and blue), voluptuous texture, and a stunning finish with plenty of glycerin, wood and spice. The alcohol on the label is listed at 14.8%, which seems about accurate. I have Caymus Special Selection in my cellar back to some of the historic wines made by Chuck Wagner’s father in the early 1970s, and while the style’s gotten more precocious and consumer-friendly, these wines, even the more latter-day styles, have

2003 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2003 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 98WE, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the most backward yet promising wines of the vintage is the 2003 Harlan Estate. Its dense opaque plum/purple color is accompanied by a sumptuous bouquet of graphite, camphor, creme de cassis, smoky barbecue wood and a hint of forest floor. Similar flavors hit the mouth with full-bodied splendor, a multidimensional mouthfeel and texture, and the sensational finish lasts more than 45 seconds. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "These proprietary reds are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, and the 2007 is the finest wine yet produced at Futo. A blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, a whopping 33% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Petit Verdot, it boasts a dense purple color as well as a gorgeously sweet bouquet of blue and black fruits, spring flowers, and crushed rocks, full-bodied power allied to compelling elegance, and a layered, multidimensional personality. There is plenty of depth in this beauty, and it is no doubt capable of putting on lots of weight and complexity given the Cabernet Franc component. 2004 Agharta North Coast Syrah
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Agharta North Coast Syrah (98RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Proprietors Pam and Pax Mahle have fashioned a 2004 Syrah called Agharta. Aged 58 months (that’s not a typo) in French oak casks (the 2005, 2006, and 2007 vintages will spend 45-48 months in cask), the extraordinary 2004 is a 475-case blend of 92% Syrah, 5% Grenache, and the rest Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussane. Most of the Syrah comes from the Alder Springs Vineyard in Mendocino. This profound wine’s inky/purple color is followed by aromas of smoky barbecue meats, grilled Provencal herbs, and exotic tropical fruits intermixed with blackberry, cassis, blueberry, and graphite. This super-rich effort tastes like the nectar of Syrah, yet it is dry, elegant, and remarkably fresh and precise. In the mouth, the impression is like that of a multilayered cake -- everything is there. This is an amazing, very multi-dimensional wine that must be tasted to be believed. It can be drunk now or c

1958 Inglenook "Cask F 30" Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1958 Inglenook "Cask F 30" Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. According to the Wine Spectator: "For most wine lovers, the Inglenook that thrived under the leadership of visionary owner John Daniel Jr. is a distant and fading memory, if it registers at all. The man who dedicated his life to uncommonly high winemaking standards died years ago, broken, bitter and disillusioned after financial hard times forced him to sell this Napa Valley treasure. But those who have had the opportunity to taste Daniel's Inglenook Cabernets know that they are among the greatest red wines ever made. The string of magnificent vintages made by Daniel and his stern and exacting winemaker, George Deuer, began in the 1930s with the repeal of Prohibition and ended in the 1960s with his sale of the winery. Despite efforts to revive the winery and restore its reputation after Daniel's death in 1970, none of the wines made after 1964 measure up to the Daniel-era classics..." (10/31/01)

Bid on this magnum of 2007 Levy & McClellan Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (OWC - 96RP, 95ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon has closed down slightly since last year. Now in bottle, it exhibits an opaque purple color as well as a similar but more subdued bouquet of lead pencil shavings, burning embers, blueberry liqueur, creme de cassis and flowers. Powerful, rich and pure, its statuesque structure, lavish concentration and formidable tannin levels suggest 3-5 years of bottle age is warranted. This may turn out to be the finest Cabernet Sauvignon produced in the short history of the Levy and McClellan Diamond Mountain winery, although the 2008 has the potential to equal it.
