It is one of the more fresh and lively wines in the lineup, with notes of passion fruits, jolly rancher, plums, spice and green herbs (Justin always finds a touch of watermelon rind from this site). 2009 Carlisle Sonoma Valley Petite Sirah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Carlisle Sonoma Valley Petite Sirah. A blend from Bedrock Vineyard and Rossi Ranch, two historic properties that produce deep, soulful, age-worthy wines. Tasting notes according to winemaker Mike Officer: "Black-purple with a magenta rim. Intense, high-toned aromas of blackberry, crushed rock, and anise. Medium-full to full bodied with flavors of blackberry, black olive, spice and violets. Mmmmm… So good! At present, more tightly coiled than our Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah but a wine that will reward greatly with patience. If you do decide to open one early, decant and/or pour through a Vinturi wine aerator and enjoy with a nice piece of grilled meat or some aged cheddar (I recommend Lincolnshire Poacher from Neal’s Yard). Otherwise, drink any time from 2016 through 2035." (MRO, 09/25/11)

2015 Booker "Fulldraw" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2015 Booker "Fulldraw" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L) (96RR, 95RP). Rhone Report: "The 2015 Fulldraw comes from a site located just beside Jensen’s estate Booker Vineyard and is 50% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 20% Syrah. It has a gorgeous, Châteauneuf du Pape-like (it reminds me of Domaine de Marcoux’s Vieilles Vignes cuvée) perfume of red and black fruits, spice-box, incense, fennel and cured meats. Ethereally textured and elegant, yet also ripe, powerful and concentrated, it has ripe tannin, it’s an incredible wine that builds with time in the glass. While beautiful today, it will be even better with short term cellaring and keep through 2027. (JebDunnuck.com)" (08/2017)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made entirely from a clone from the most famous vineyard in Burgundy, the 2014 Cix offers crisp acid, loads of black raspberry, forest floor and blueberry fruit, and tremendous density, richness, and intensity. (It’s interesting to note that these 2014s are all in bottle while the Chardonnays are still in tank awaiting bottling.) This is a wine with great fruit, terrific acids and a long finish. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Roar "Garys' Vineyard" Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir (93RP, 92CG, 92WE, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Garys’ is an overt, juicy Pinot, with less in the way of aromatic complexity but more fruit than the Rosella’s, largely owing to the warmer microclimate here. Sensual and caressing through to the finish, the Garys’ bottling is another stunningly beautiful wine from Roar. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2019. (AG)" (08/2011)

2008 Linne Calodo "Screwball" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2008 Linne Calodo "Screwball" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (1.5L) (94RP, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made from 70% Syrah and equal parts Mourvedre and Grenache, the 2008 Screwball (much of which comes from the superb Booker Vineyard) is another deep ruby/purple-colored wine with sweet and sour black cherry notes intermixed with black raspberry, pepper, roasted herbs, and spice. The vintage’s elegance and finesse come forward, but this is a deep, concentrated wine, again in a style that represents a bridge between a Burgundian Pinot Noir and a California Central Coast Rhone Ranger. Bid on this magnum lot of 2011 O'Shaughnessy Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (94VN, 91RP, 91ST). Vinous: " The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder is darker, richer and more powerful than the Howell Mountain. Dark cherry, plum, spice, new leather, licorice and cloves all blossom in the glass. The 2011 shuts down quickly in the glass, which is probably a very good sign of the wine's potential longevity. Today the Mt. Brooding aromas of black fruits, licorice, tar and fresh herbs; a bit less harmonious on the nose than the young 2006. 2012 Bedrock Wine Company "Weill a Way Vineyard - Exposition One" Sonoma Valley Syrah
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Bedrock Wine Company "Weill a Way Vineyard - Exposition One" Sonoma Valley Syrah (97RP, 91VN, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The '2012 Proprietary Red Weill Vineyard Exposition Project Trio' is three incredible wines from Sonoma County. This is Twain-Peterson’s take on the three LaLa wines from the Guigal family in Côte-Rôtie. He is emphasizing distinct clonal terroir and exposition differences as well as vinifying the wines separately. All three of the following wines were aged 36 months in 100% new French oak. The 2012 Proprietary Red Weill Vineyard Exposition 1, from an east-facing steep slope, is 100% Syrah and 100% whole-clusters. The wine flirts with perfection, with beautiful notes of roasted meats, new saddle leather, black olive tapenade, cassis and blackberry soaring from the glass of this dense purple blockbuster. It’s full-bodied, massive and just incredible. I suppose this would be the La Landonne version of what Peterson is trying

There is more tannin in the unusually austere finish, but the wine is remarkably complex, and should be exceptionally long-lived. (RP)" (08/2002)

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Colgin "Herb Lamb Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (98RP, 97VN, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I realize perfection in wine, like perfection in anything, is in the eyes of the beholder, and there are those who believe perfection is simply unobtainable. But in my mind, the 1996 and 1995 come close to perfection. Why? First of all, these extraordinary expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon are awesomely concentrated and endowed, while at the same time elegant and amazingly harmonious. The equilibrium between the wines' component parts - new oak, alcohol, tannin, acidity, and extract - is right on, with nothing out of place. The 1996 and 1995 could be mistaken for identical twins, although close examination reveals that the 1995 has a slightly firmer tannic edge, and the 1996 slightly lower acidity ... (RP)" (12/1997)

Bid on this magnum lot of 2012 Aubert "CIX" Sonoma Coast Chardonnay (1.5L) (99RP, 95VN, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine that stood out for its complexity and intensity was the 2012 Chardonnay Cix Estate. Planted with the Reuling clone of Chardonnay, this vineyard is situated next to the vineyard from which Mark Aubert makes the Lauren Chardonnay. There are only 600 cases of this prodigious wine. The vines were planted in 2007, so this is only the fifth leaf, but, wow, what a Chardonnay. Copious notes of pineapple, mango and guava along with wet stone, caramelized citrus, tangerine and orange marmalade characteristics are followed by a wine with a full-bodied mouthfeel as well as remarkable purity, texture and intensity. One of the most individualistic and greatest Chardonnays I have ever tasted, this amazing wine should drink well for 7-10 years. (RP)" (12/2014)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Having performed spectacularly well last year in the retrospective of ten-year old Napa Cabernets, this 2001 remains incredibly young, with all of its potential waiting to burst forth. Its dense purple color is followed by notes of mulberries, creme de cassis, blackberries, licorice, graphite and subtle smoke. The wine reveals fabulous fruit along with full-bodied power and a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood. With one of the few split scores ever given by Connoisseurs' Guide. Most tasters loved the power, loved the tightly focused black cherry, slightly dried currant fruit, loved the boldness and the way there is a sense of polish developing in the background, loved the structure that promises to keep the wine going for a couple of decades yet. The dissenting voice questions whether the higher alcohol and the slight bit of stalkiness at the edges will eat into the wine's aging potential. It is still a baby and we are going to wait the better part of the next decade before opening our next bottle." (04/2010)

Of the 2001 Anderson's Conn Valley "Éloge" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "One of the most complex Bordeaux blends to emerge from California over recent years is Conn Valley’s Eloge, which is meant to represent a California-styled St.-Emilion. The 2001 Eloge is a brilliant offering. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, it boasts a dense purple color as well as an extraordinary nose of menthol, blackberries, cassis, cedarwood, and spice box. It is unctuously-textured, full-bodied, with moderate tannin in the finish. Ideally, I would give this wine 2-3 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following two decades. 1996 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1996 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (95RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aged 22 months in 100% new French oak, this blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Merlot reveals a powerful core of red and black fruits, dusty, loamy soil, lavender and a hint of toast. I would not describe it as elegant, but rather, it is a big, backstrapping, Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine that should continue to drink well for 15 or more years. (RP)" (11/2013)

Of the 2005 Bond "Vecina" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Vecina is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in 100% new oak, like the other cuvées. It is from an 11-acre site directly southeast of the Bond Winery, close to Harlan Estate. This wine tends to be the closest to the Harlan Estate in quality, with notes of new saddle leather, blackberry, roasted coffee and a hint of chocolate -- and again -- graphite and subtle smoke. Opaque purple, but still incredibly youthful, the wine is spicy, inte

2004 Agharta "Black Label" North Coast Syrah
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Agharta "Black Label" North Coast Syrah (98RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Proprietors Pam and Pax Mahle have fashioned a 2004 Syrah called Agharta. Aged 58 months (that’s not a typo) in French oak casks (the 2005, 2006, and 2007 vintages will spend 45-48 months in cask), the extraordinary 2004 is a 475-case blend of 92% Syrah, 5% Grenache, and the rest Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussane. Most of the Syrah comes from the Alder Springs Vineyard in Mendocino. This profound wine’s inky/purple color is followed by aromas of smoky barbecue meats, grilled Provencal herbs, and exotic tropical fruits intermixed with blackberry, cassis, blueberry, and graphite. This super-rich effort tastes like the nectar of Syrah, yet it is dry, elegant, and remarkably fresh and precise. In the mouth, the impression is like that of a multilayered cake -- everything is there. This is an amazing, very multi-dimensional wine that must be tasted to be believed. It can be

2003 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2003 Caymus "Special Selection" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 93WE, 93WS, 91W&S, 90CG). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Current vintages of the luxury cuvee, the Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection, are bottled much earlier than in the past and they remain one of Napa's most classic Cabernets. The 2003's opaque purple color suggests a wine much younger than ten years of age. Copious amounts of creme de cassis, graphite, spice box and a whiff of new saddle leather result in a classic, authoritative, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with no hard edges. This big, mouthfilling, textured, multidimensional Cabernet still tastes like an adolescent, and is capable of lasting another 15-20 years. Some tannins are present, but their sweetness along with the wine’s voluptuous character are irresistible. (RP)" (06/2013)

2012 Sine Qua Non "Rattrapante - Eleven Confessions Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Grenache
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Sine Qua Non "Rattrapante - Eleven Confessions Vineyard" Sta. Rita Hills Grenache (100RP, 97VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A perfect wine any way you look at it, the 2012 Grenache Rattrapante comes all from the Eleven Confessions Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills and spent 33 months in 27% new French oak. My notes start - and end - with “Wow.” Giving up tons of black raspberries, peppery herbs, licorice, dried flowers and cured meats, it’s a massively concentrated, rich and layered Grenache that somehow manages to stay graceful, lively and fresh on the palate. There are roughly 800 cases of this elixir and any Grenache lover should do their best to latch onto a bottle (or two). It’s also worth noting that this cuvee saw 26% whole clusters, which is a small change from past vintages. (JD)" (08/2016)

A seductive style that balances ripe, concentrated currant, cherry, fresh earth, mineral and sage notes with toasty, cedary oak. 2009 Sine Qua Non "Upside Down" Grenache
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Sine Qua Non "Upside Down" Grenache (96RP, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Grenache Upside Down emerges from the glass with layers of dark red fruit as it sweeps across the palate. There is an inner sweetness and sheer depth that make the 2009 compelling. The 11% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre make themselves heard clearly in adding layers of depth and pure richness. Tar, anise and graphite meld together on the rich, dramatic finish. This is a striking wine endowed with tons of pure textural dimension. The 2009 was sourced from Eleven Confessions (72%), Cumulus (22%) and Bien Nacido (6%) vineyards. (AG)" (04/2012)

2007 Maybach Family "Materium" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Maybach Family "Materium" Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 98WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The prodigious 2007 Materium exhibits an even more opaque purple color, and ratchets up the level of intensity and aromatic complexity. Blackberry, black raspberry, blueberry, and cassis aromas intermixed with notes of crushed rocks, spring flowers, and toasty new oak are found in this beauty. Outstanding intensity along with full-bodied power and beautifully integrated acids, tannins, alcohol, and wood suggest this 2007 should hit its peak in 5-7 years, and evolve for three decades or more. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Williams Selyem Russian River Valley Unoaked Chardonnay (90ST). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Greenish gold. Pungent, precise scents of lime pith, orange, quinine, minerals and herbs. Racy citrus flavors show good depth and appealing spiciness, with a touch of candied flowers on the back. The clinging finish features notes of orange and lime zest, plus a sneaky anise quality. This wine didn't go through malolactic fermentation. (ST)" (06/2011)

2014 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 97WS, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The sensationally pure and seamless 2014 James Berry Vineyard Proprietary Red (42% Grenache, 24% Mourvèdre, 21% Syrah, 8% Counoise and 5% Roussanne) was brought up in a mix of barrels and foudre, followed by six months in concrete tanks. The wine offers incredibly rich and layered notes of black raspberries, creme de cassis, crushed flowers, melted licorice and peppery herbs in its full-bodied, impeccably balanced profile. Showing the more upfront, hedonistic style of the vintage, this full-bodied beauty still has ample underlying tannin, beautiful mid-palate depth and a killer finish that keeps you coming back for more. Of the 2005 Carlisle "Cardiac Hill" Bennett Valley Syrah,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Pepper, earth, blueberry, and black currant aromas jump from the glass of the 2005 Syrah Cardiac Hill. This full-bodied, powerful, tannic wine needs plenty of bottle age as it is one of the more unevolved examples in this portfolio. 2014 Sine Qua Non "Shakti" California Grenache
Bid on this bottle of 2014 Sine Qua Non "Shakti" California Grenache ((96-98RP), (95-96VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Leading off the 2014s from barrel, the 2014 Grenache Shakti (88% Grenache, 6% Mourvedre, 4% Petite Sirah and the rest Touriga Nacionale) comes largely from the Cumulus Vineyard, with smaller portions from Eleven Confessions, the Third Twin and Bien Nacido. Aged almost entirely in neutral barrels (6% new), it has a supple, sexy profile as well as killer base notes of black raspberries, cassis, ground herbs and violets. Deep, concentrated, full-bodied and laced with sweet tannin, I continue to be baffled why so few people in California get close to this level of quality with Grenache. (JD)" (08/2016)

Of the 2009 Shafer Napa Valley Merlot,Connoisseurs Guide writes: " *Two Stars* It seems that Shafer can be counted on year in and year out for some of the richer, well-filled Merlots to be had, and this latest, while not wanting for ripeness, stands again with the best of the vintage. It leads with very deep aromas of black cherries, root beer and sweet cream, and its very like-minded flavors are as concentrated as they are juicy.
