95 points James Halliday: "*Special Value Selection* Light straw-green; a complex blend with considerable presence and attitude from the first whiff to the conclusion of the long, multi-flavoured and multi-textured palate; a small left field component was wild-fermented in stainless steel barrels. It is the overall intensity of the wine that really grabs attention, engineered by the way the flavours build across the palate."
97 points James Halliday: "*Special Value Selection* Estate-grown 40yo vines, and only free-run juice, gives the wine a flying start. Its intensity is exceptional, driving along the palate with high speed, the Bickford's lime juice flavours running unabated through the finish and well into the lingering aftertaste. An exceptional wine."
98 points James Suckling: "This is a scintillating wine that fuses concentrated fruit presence and power with assertive structure and bracing acid drive. The nose has chalky notes with fresh hazelnut and a flinty, attractive reductive edge, plus stone fruits and citrus intermingled. The palate has commanding weight, neatly crafted shape and impressive length, with winding white peach and an array of citrus fruit flavors long into the finish. Enlivening, modern Aussie Chardonnay at its finest." (2/2015)97 points James Halliday: "An exceptionally complex Chardonnay both in terms of texture and flavour; hand-pi ...Read More »
Winemaker's notes: "Opportunist Sauvignon Semillon is a crisp, dry, tangy white wine. Displaying tropical fruits and citrus aromas on the nose, the wine then offers a delicate elegance and structure on the palate, culminating in a lingering finish. Both the Semillon and Sauvignon grapes were brought separately into the winery and crushed. Fermentation took place in large steel tanks. The wines are blended together once fermentation is finished."

98 points James Suckling: "No.9 in Top 100 Australian Wines: There's a very assertive nose here that has a gently flinty edge, some nicely handled oak and hints of pithy lemon across more peachy stone fruits; tropical hints too, plus a chalky element. Very fresh and tightly wound. The palate has a very composed style to it with great depth and oak integration; long and powerful but quite sleek through the middle. A great example, this is tightly coiled for now and releases a slow-burning grilled nut flavor through the finish. The Aston Martin of Chardonnay, with sleek lines and pl ...Read More »
92 points James Halliday: "*Special Value Selection* Simple stainless steel fermentation at a relatively low temperature has thrown all the emphasis on the very attractive array of fruit aromas and flavours spanning snow pea, citrus and passionfruit, and doing so without assaulting the senses." (12/2013) K&L Notes: Mount Trio was named one of James Halliday's Top 10 "Dark Horses" of up-and-coming wineries for 2014. This small family estate owned and managed by veteran winemaker Gavin Berry and his wife. Together they make wines from their own lovingly hand-tended 20 acres in the Porongurup su... Read More »
94 points James Halliday: "Light straw-green; it is a tribute to the quality of the Art Series Chardonnay that this should be Leeuwin's entry point wine; there is a perfect balance between the grapefruit spectrum and the white peach spectrum, oak a near-invisible net holding the parts together, the length exceptional"92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is remarkably lush and full-bodied, yet remains lively and mouthwatering. Toasted nuts frame ample flavors of grilled pineapple and melon. Drink now 2017. The success of this wine should be a good indicator that, when released, the 2012 Art Series will be somethin ...Read More »
95 points James Halliday: "Single vineyard; wild yeast-fermented with fine solids in new (66%) and 1yo French barriques, aged on lees for 16 months with natural mlf, no stirring. A focused and elegant wine, balance the key, but also having exemplary length to its white stone fruit flavours; the lingering finish and aftertaste also score." (1/2015) K&L Notes: Winemaker's Notes: "Mid straw in colour with a hint of green to the hue. The aroma shows citrus fruits in the company of exotic tropical notes of pineapple and guava, accents of spice and wood smoke add to the complexity. The palate is in ... Read More »
95 points James Halliday: "Hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed direct to French oak puncheons for fermentation and 10 months maturation. Here the slightly richer and layered nature of Lower Yarra Valley fruit is the point of difference, although this and the '12 Guerin Vineyard both have the hallmark Yarra Valley length of flavour; white peach and grapefruit make equal contributions to the overall flavour." (12/2013)92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 J&J D’Aloisio Vineyard Chardonnay opens with aromas of apple tart, apricots and brioche with touches of cashews and mandarin peel. Medium-bodied and accented by a ...Read More »
94 points James Halliday: "A 70/30% blend, the grapes picked at different harvest times, but held in stainless steel at low temperatures to settle and combine prior to fermentation on fine solids in new and 1-year-old French oak, held on lees for 9 months. The oak cost, combined with the ultra-low extraction rate through basket pressing (less than half the extraction through a pneumatic press, at around 320l per tonne) make this a very expensive wine to produce, further insult to injury through the small bottling run of 200 dozen." (3/2014) K&L Notes: Winemaker's Notes: "Light straw in colour,... Read More »
94 points James Halliday: "Is already settling into a sound drinking place. It's all strung on a taut line of acidity but the lemon, apple, hay and spice notes give something to enjoy now. That said, it shows all the signs that, over the medium term at least, it will mature deliciously." (7/2014)91 points James Suckling: "Sliced apples and peaches on the nose follow through to a full body, bright acidity and a tropical fruit aftertaste. Drink or hold. Screw cap." (10/2013) K&L Notes: The Hunter Valley is renowned for producing some of the best Semillon in the world. This wine displays fresh, lifted citrus characters, a l... Read More »
93 points James Halliday: "A complex, full-flavoured riesling, with notes of spice and talc along with the citrus of the bouquet; the palate has layers of lemon-accented fruit, but needs a touch more acidity to freshen and lengthen the finish." (6/2015)93 points Wine Spectator: "Lithe, vibrant and light-footed, but explosive, with flavors of pear, honeysuckle, apple and cinnamon, glowing brightly on the long and expressive finish. Drink now through 2024. 2,800 cases made." (8/2015)91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still quite closed, the Springvale Riesling shows faint citrusy aromas of lemons and yuzu with a dusting of chalk and white pepper ...Read More »
95 points James Halliday: "*Special Value Selection* Hand-picked, free-run juice, some wild ferment to add texture, which you meet in the entrance lobby before going through to the dining room with guava, passionfruit and sliced lemon piled on platters yea high. Having had your fill, leaving through the lobby brings forth a savoury farewell." (3/2015) K&L Notes: Winemaker's Notes: "The Adelaide Hills is recognised as one of Australia’s finest Sauvignon Blanc growing regions: the altitude, soils and weather patterns seem to draw the best from this variety and in 2014, I was lucky enough to take... 95 points James Halliday: "Dalwhinnie's Chardonnay is the best from the region in virtually every vintage; barrel fermentation in French oak is not carried to extremes (solids, sulphides, etc), its quality coming from its finesse and perfectly ripened stone fruit woven through the oak." (2/2014) K&L Notes: This iconic estate nestled into a natural amphitheatre 2,000 feet up in Victoria's Pyrenees mountain range produces some of the country's most highly regarded and awarded wines that have attracted very high points from the world's top critics. We are extremely happy to offer a limited alloca... Read More »
90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Chardonnay has a nose of honeydew, ripe nectarines and poached pears with a toasty undercurrent. Medium-bodied, it fills the palate with lively melon and peachy flavors with a suggestion of creaminess to the texture and a good long finish. Drink it now to 2018. 90+ (LPB)" (8/2014)
92 points James Halliday: "*Special Value Selection* Grown biodynamically and matured in used oak. Tastes quite neutral at first but it reveals notes of nuts, ginger, honeysuckle and mineral as it opens and warms in the glass. Crisp finish but the palate is slippery and textural. Sweetish aftertaste. Delicious." (7/2014) K&L Notes: Winemaker's Notes: This wine's flavours and aromas are more about the soil it grew in and the savoury characters of Roussanne than the primary fruit. The texture is its distinguishing feature, developed from the tannins in the skins, the waxy nature of the variety a... Read More »
In case you aren't super in the know about Verdelho, this has lovely, ripe, round fruit flavors of stone fruit, pineapple and citrus that keep you coming back sip after sip. Just about all seafood! This is one white wine with good enough balance and ripe enough fruit to go with just about any simply prepared chicken or grilled summer vegetables. We also love it with soft, ripe cheeses, almonds and dried stone fruit. According to Wine Spectator: "A weighty, extracted style, with vibrant greengage plum and spice flavors, lingering on the slightly tart fin... Read More »

93 points James Halliday: "Bright straw-green; this is a very good wine that will handsomely repay the cellaring it needs (five-plus years), but I'm not convinced the high natural acidity and low pH are best left alone - witness the R9." (8/2012) K&L Notes: The super-dry "R0" (as in zero residual sugar) has intense lime/citrus florals combined with a balanced, elegant palate. A great acid line and backbone ensures that this wine will continue to improve for many years. Perfect for seafood.
93 points James Halliday: "*Special Value Selection* As much about texture as it is about flavour; though it lacks none of the latter. Apple, mandarin and lime notes with a slip of sweetness; it feels easy-going and delicious for the most part but then thrusts dry, complex flavour out through the finish, like a twist in the tale. All the while, it feels velvety on your tongue."
92 points James Halliday: "Pale straw-green; rich fruit salad and cream style; no shortage of flavour, ready now. Trophy Best '13 Verdelho, Swan Valley Wine Show '13." K&L Notes: Really exciting wine...the back story on this is that while in college I once found a few closeout cases of Swan Valley Verdelho in a random rundown corner shop liquor store...long story short, the stuff was delicious and it became our house wine for as long as the supply lasted! While traveling in Swan Valley some years later I was excited to taste this lovely bottle from Sittella and be transported back to my first ... Read More »
95 points James Halliday: "Pale straw-green; a truly lovely young wine; near perfect balance of all its components, despite the (deliberately) high residual sugar; all-up, elegant but intense; the '10 gives a glimpse of its future." (7/2012)
