2015 Andrew Murray "Tous les Jours" Santa Ynez Valley Syrah

Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Syrah Tous les Jours comes from a multitude of sites in the Santa Ynez Valley and is 100% Syrah that saw a touch of whole cluster and aging all in neutral barrels. I always love this wine and it reminds me of a youthful Côtes du Rhône with its raspberry, pepper and garrigue-scented bouquet. Forward, delicious, beautifully textured and ready to go, drink it over the coming 2-4 years. I’ve always loved the wines from Andrew Murray, and his latest 2015s are rock solid across the board. In addition, they all have singular, impeccably made characters ...Read More »

2014 Shafer "Relentless" Napa Valley Syrah Top Pick!
2014 Shafer "Relentless" Napa Valley Syrah

92-95 points Vinous: "Shafer's 2014 Relentless is fabulous. The most expressive and varietally expressive of the three vintages of Relentless I tasted. In 2014, Relentless has 11% Petite Sirah, which, along with the personality of the year, kicks up the aromatics and flavors in a meaningful way. Lavender, mint, violets and crème de cassis notes are laced into the super-expressive finish. The 2014 is shaping up to be a real gem. 2014 Stolpman "Originals" Ballard Canyon Syrah (Previously $40)

95 points Connoisseurs Guide: "One of the first wineries to see Ballard Canyon's potential as an important locale in which to grow and make wines from classic Rhône varieties, Stolpman is very much an original and continues to produce some of the state's finest Syrahs. This particular effort shows great varietal definition and depth with loads of peppery spice and a strong gamy streak indelibly marking it as nothing other than Syrah. It is a big, intense, fully ripe, well-constructed wine that does not abandon structure and balance in its successful pursuit of richness, and, in the en ...Read More »

2014 Stolpman "Estate" Ballard Canyon Syrah

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Dark aromas of black currant and black olive meet with charred beef and supple herbs of dill and anise on this wine's excellent nose. The sip is very full and hefty in body, allied with a juicy acidity and fruity character of concentrated blackberry that's imminently appealing. More elegant touches of lavender, rosemary and incense round out the palate." (3/2017) 91 points Vinous: "The 2014 Syrah Estate is surprisingly succulent for a young Stolpman Syrah, which Peter Stolpman attributes to warmer nights and softer extractions. 2013 Holus Bolus Sta. Rita Hills Syrah Back In Stock!
2013 Holus Bolus Sta. Rita Hills Syrah

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "#6 on Top 100 *Best of 2016, Editors' Choice* Though this bottling is Peter Hunken's least-expensive Syrah, it gives his single-vineyard expressions a serious run for the money for best of vintage. Amazing aromas of chipped asphalt, smoked beef, dense boysenberry, soy, cedar, sandalwood and soy drop into a palate of peppery berry juice, beef jerky, underripe blackberry and elderberry, and pepper-crusted teriyaki beef. 2014 Eric Kent "Atoosa's Vineyard" Russian River Valley Syrah

Winemaker's Notes: "The EK Russian River Valley Syrah of the past few years has proudly grown into our newest vineyard-designated wine! Atoosa’s Vineyard now brings its own distinctive expression of Syrah to our line-up. Located on the cool southern edge of the Russian River Valley, the superb fruit from this the late-ripening spot has been adding a vital element to our Kalen’s and formed the core of our Russian River Valley Syrah since 2012. 2015 Tensley "Colson Canyon Vineyard" Santa Barbara County Syrah

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Syrah Colson Canyon Vineyard is a straight up, beast of a Syrah. Its glass staining purple color is followed by a smorgasbord of Syrah goodness; blackberry jam, plums, exotic flowers, hints of tapenade, scrub brush and violets all literally soar from the glass. This gives way to a full-bodied, unctuous, and concentrated 2015 that has sweet tannin, notable freshness and a great finish. It’s primary and incredibly un-evolved, and needs 2-3 years of cellaring, yet is a sensational wine. 2014 Tensley Santa Barbara County Syrah

90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted as a barrel sample, the 2014 Syrah Santa Barbara is a sexy, sweetly fruited and voluptuous Syrah that offers up a rockin' bouquet of blueberry, blackberry, violets and pepper. It should drink nicely on release and over the following 5-6 years. Santa Barbara County’s Joey Tensley continues to make ripe, textured and voluptuous wines that deliver serious bang for the buck. The latest 2013s and 2014s are all outstanding. However, recent vintages are pushing on the sweetness level, and in a number of cases, there’s obvious residual sugar in the wines ...Read More »

Rich, fat and unctuous on the palate, with plenty of freshness and purity, it tastes like it costs two to three times the price. Violets, incense, spring flowers, blackberries and blueberry notes all flow to a full-bodied, elegant, seamlessly textured Syrah that has plenty of classic pepper and spice, solid mid-palate depth and ripe tannin on the finish. It needs an hour in the decanter if drinking over the coming 2-3 years, and will have 15+ years of overall longevity. 2015 Melville "Estate" Sta. Rita Hills Syrah

92 points Vinous: "The 2015 Syrah Estate (Sta. Rita Hills) is very pretty, but like all of these 2015s, it also needs time to be at its best. Floral and lifted, with tons of energy and tannin, the 2015 is shaping up to be a real beauty. Hints of lavender, licorice, smoke, plum and black cherry build into the super-expressive finish in this soulful midweight Syrah from Melville. (AG)" (9/2017) 91 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Syrah Sta. Rita Hills is another terrific wine that's always a good value. Medium to full-bodied, fruit-loaded and forward, with tons of plum, cracked pepper and garrigue, it has notable tannin and a great, decadent and heady finish. (TF, Web Only-2017)" 90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "A very polished Syrah whose ripe, youthful fruit is well-buttressed by a layer of very rich, creamy, slightly caramelly oak, this wine steers comfortably wide of the variety’s potent capabilities, and, instead relies on measured, balanced character for its attractions. 2014 Qupé Central Coast Syrah (375ml)

Wine & Spirits: "Bob Lindquist’s multivineyard blend has its typical savory bent in 2014-tobacco, dried herbs, bitter chocolate, tangy acidity. It’s lean and simple, a quaffable syrah for pork chops." (10/2016) K&L Notes: Qupé (pronounced 'kyoo-pay') is the Chumash Indian word for California poppy, and for many, is also the "first word" in the Central Coast area's Rhône-style wines.

It is rich, full and fleshy with great varietal integrity, and its deep, very precise, blackberry fruit is infused with plenty of the grape’s distinctive pepper-and-game spice. 2014 Marietta "Gibson Block" McDowell Valley Syrah

93 points Vinous: "The 2014 Estate Syrah Gibson Block, a Syrah-based field blend, exudes depth and concentration. Black cherry, blackberry, cloves, leather and licorice give the wine its inner sweetness and textural richness, but there is also plenty of aromatic freshness and lift. Violet, camphor, savory herb and scorched earth give the wine a real sense of gravitas. I was quite frankly blown away by the wines I tasted at Marietta this year. 2014 Baker Lane "Sonoma Coast Cuvée" Sonoma Coast Syrah

93 points Wine & Spirits: "Grown at the organically farmed Baker Lane estate, this shows the sunny warmth of the 2014 vintage, providing an unusually muscular expression of coastal syrah. It starts out with a compact, meaty black-olive flavor, then keeps gaining nuance with air, turning toward manzanita bark and peppercorn, spicy brightness breaking through the savory bulwark of structure and the alcohol warmth so that a fresh, iron-tinged woodland flavor lasts. Dark, pliant and inviting, but not at all heavy, the 2015 has much to offer. Floral and savory overtones from a combination of cool sites and 30% stems add notable character. 2013 AP Vin "Trick - Law Vineyard" Paso Robles Syrah (Previously $60)

We're awfully glad owner/winemaker Andrew P. Vingiello decided to shorten his name for his wine label A.P. Vin; it saves us from embarrassing spelling errors and we wouldn't want anything to come between you and finding his wines. Now offering his fourth vintage, Andrew's wines have been steadily gaining more attention and it's not hard to see why. Mentored by Brian Loring of Loring Wine Company, Andrew has built relationships with some of the top Syrah and Pinot Noir producers and growers in California. The resulting wines are a wine lover's delight.

2012 DuMol "Jack Robert's Run" Sonoma Coast Syrah

95 points Connoisseurs Guide: "***Three Stars*** Intensely spicy with a wealth of pepper and game tagging it as Syrah in no uncertain terms yet also wonderfully deep in ongoing blackberry-like fruit, this exquisitely structured wine manages to be big, balanced and uncommonly well-polished all at the same time. It is showy in some ways and still nascent in others, and it impresses as a wine with great places to go. It would be a shame to pour it before its fifth or sixth birthday, and it should continue to grow for at least twice as long." 94 points Vinous: "The 2015 Syrah Que Syrah Vineyard powerful, rich and also massively tannic. Bright, pungent and super-expressive, the 2015 possesses notable intensity as well as structure. I don't see the finesse of the other wines in the lineup, but time may ultimately have something to say about that. Ripe red cherry, pomegranate, mint, chalk and wild herbs built into the deep finish. The 100% whole clusters are pretty much buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit.
