2015 Petrolo "Galatrona" Toscana (Pre-Arrival)

99 points James Suckling: "Terrific aromas of violets, roses and raspberries with hints of strawberries and brown sugar. Full body. Phenomenal layers of focused fruit and polished velvety tannins. This is the Galatrona that everyone has been waiting for. It's the vintage that shows depth and power yet wonderful finesse and focus. Best ever. Drink from 2023 but already electrifying. *Ranked #2 on Top 100 of 2017*" (8/2017) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Galatrona is one of the best Merlots made in Italy (definitely in the top five) and this vintage keeps the banner flying high. 2006 Elio Altare Barolo (Pre-Arrival)

92 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe, featuring plum and black cherry flavors, laced with spice and tobacco. This is kept honest by the upright tannins and lively acidity. There is power, but also grace. Fine length. Best from 2013 through 2025. (BS)" (2/2011) 90 points James Suckling: "The raspberry, fresh fruit and flowers on the nose excite me. The red is full and silky, with lots going on. Racy. Better after 2013." (1/2011) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Barolo is a medium-bodied offering with attractive, perfumed fruit. Though somewhat slender, the wine offers excellent balance, albeit in a smaller-scaled style than is normally the ...Read More »

2015 Fattoria Le Pupille "Saffredi" Maremma Toscana (Pre-Arrival)

99 points James Suckling: "I love the currant and rosemary character of this wine. Some sage, too. Complex aromas that draw you in. Full body, extremely tight and chewy with a long and intense finish. The tannins are fantastic - so polished. Focused and beautiful. Mineral undertone with ash and hot stone highlighting the dark fruits. It goes on for minutes. Needs three or four years to come together. But a serious red all the way. *Ranked #9 on Top 100 of 2017*" (8/2017) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Saffredi is a sultry and velvety wine from the Tuscan Coast. 2012 La Massa "Giorgio Primo" Toscana 1.5L (Previously $130)

Give this a few years in the bottle to completely come together. Better in 2016." (11/2016) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made with Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (30%) and Petit Verdot (5%), the impeccable 2012 Giorgo Primo is attractive from every angle. 2012 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino (Pre-Arrival)

Very structured for the vintage." (11/2016) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Valdicava represents its own school within the greater Brunello philosophy. 2014 Fontodi "Flaccianello della Pieve" Toscana (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Vinous: "The 2014 Flaccianello della Pieve will probably drink well a bit earlier than the Vigna del Sorbo, as it has more midpalate creaminess, softer contours and a slightly more immediate personality. Even so, the translucent finesse of the vintage is very much in evidence. A rush of black cherry, plum, tobacco, licorice, chocolate and spice infuses the sweet, creamy finish. The 2014 spent 18 months in oak (less than was once the norm), 80% of it new. Full body, silky tannins and a juicy finish. I love the tension and texture of this great red. So gorgeous to taste now but better in 2021. *Top 100 of 2017*" (8/2017) K&L Notes: Once a blend, Graetz made the conversion to 100% Sangiovese in Testamatta starting in 2006 and notched a WS98 score that placed it among the top single-varietal Sangiovese bottlings from this great vintage. Dark cherry, cherry pit, blood orange, orange peel, exotic spice and mint are all laced together in a chiseled Barolo that bristles with energy. Addictively beautiful and inviting, the Via Nuova is endowed with a super-classic, mid-weight feel, knock-out aromatics and fabulous overall balance. Full bodied, with soft and velvety tannins and an amazing depth of fruit. Balanced and super long. I can't get over the wonderful texture to this young red. It touches every inch of your palate and caresses it. Leave it for four or five years still, but it's hard not to drink." Very long and powerful yet very fine and fresh. This is getting better and better in the bottle. Drink or hold." (10/2015) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Pure cherry, rose and raspberry aromas and flavors are expressive in this complex, ripe Brunello. (1/2017) 94 points Vinous: "The 2013 Barolo Gattera is sensual, open-knit and quite expressive. Red cherry, plum, mint, chocolate, leather and deeply spiced notes shape this radiant, supple Barolo from the Gattera vineyard in La Morra. 2008 Francesco Rinaldi "Cannubbio" Barolo

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Barolo Cannubbio exhibits all of the classic notes typically found in wines from this site. Sweet, open floral notes lead to tobacco, leather, anise and spices as this gorgeous Barolo shows off its class. There is more than enough fruit to balance the tannins, but the 2008 remains tight and in need of further cellaring. Still, there is so much to admire in this classy, mid-weight Barolo. In 2008, the Cannubbio is all class and finesse. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038." (10/2012)

2012 Fontodi "Flaccianello della Pieve" Toscana

97 points Vinous: "The 2012 Flaccianello della Pieve, a selection of the estate's best fruit, presents a darker, more virile expression of Sangiovese. Here, too, the purity of the flavors is truly striking. Cinnamon, cloves, new leather, licorice and plums are some of the notes that soar from the glass. The 2012 is full-bodied and voluptuous, in classic Flaccianello style, but the new French oak is much better integrated than it often is at this stage, the result of a move to lower toast levels over the last few years. This is one of the finest young Flaccianellos I can re ...Read More »

2012 Felsina "Rancia" Chianti Classico Riserva 1.5L

94 points Vinous: "94+: A ripe, powerful wine, the 2012 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia offers a level of finesse that balances some of the more overt intensity of the year. Dark cherry, plum, spice, tobacco, menthol and licorice add shades of nuance as this beautifully delineated Rancia opens up in the glass. Because of its mid-weight structure, I expect the 2012 will give up its charms relatively early by Rancia standards, which means around age 15-20. The 2012 is not an obvious or explosive Rancia, rather is a wine built on compelling overall harmony." (9/2015) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Full-bodie ...Read More »

Complex and succulent on the finish. Drink or hold." (6/2016) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fuligni’s 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva captures the richness of the vintage while maintaining plenty of classicism in its structure. Some balsamic and citrus fruit underneath it all. Needs a little time to soften. Pure Sangiovese. From organically grown grapes. Better in 2016." (9/2014) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Flaccianello della Pieve is 100% Sangiovese aged 24 months in new French oak and two months in large oak cask. Aromatically precise and finely sculpted, the 2013 possesses superb balance. In 2013, the Cannubi is all class. This is one of the most refined and gracious of Chiara Boschis' 2013 Barolos and a very typical wine for the vintage. In a word: terrific! 2014 Pietradolce "Vigna Barbagalli" Etna Rosso (Pre-Arrival)

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It's hard not to be moved by the extraordinary 2014 Etna Rosso Vigna Barbagalli. This wine is soaring in character and quality and is fast on its route to becoming one of the icons of vino Italiano. It's hard to know where to start. Many great Etna reds are Burgundian in character, but oddly, this wine appears more Bordelaise, especially in this excellent vintage. The wine is beautifully conditioned and fine, yet it is exuberant and fruit forward at the same time. It opens to delicate aromas of dried flowers, spice, wild berry and black currant. Better in 2020." (3/2016) 95 points Vinous: "The 2012 Barolo Cannubi is super-finessed, open-knit and gracious, with striking aromatic lift and plenty of precision. Sweet red berries, mocha, flowers, new leather and spices are some of the many notes that are layered in this sumptuous, totally beautiful wine. The 2009 stands out for its silky tannins and phenomenal overall balance. This is one of those wines that will probably enjoy a long drinking window. 2013 San Giusto a Rentennano "Percarlo" Toscana

98 points Vinous: "A wine of extraordinary finesse, the 2013 Percarlo is utterly magnificent. Creamy and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2013 speaks to finesse more than the power and explosiveness that is often found here. With time in the glass, the mid-palate fleshes out and the flavors gain in intensity and darkness. When young, Percarlo is often forbiddingly tannic, but the gradual move towards larger format barrels and casks has, among other things, given the wine much more textural elegance. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is another of the truly great wines in this tasting. It is most similar in style to the 2001 for its power, but also has some of the aromatic finesse and complexity of the 2004. Layers of fruit build to the explosive, huge finish. Today the 2006 is big, implosive and tightly wound, but it will be absolutely gorgeous in another few years. Actually, it already is. Since its release a few years ago, the 2006 has continued to move towards a more refined expression of Sangiovese while maintaining all of the structure it showed as a young wine. 2007 Felsina "Fontalloro" Toscana
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Felsina "Fontalloro" Toscana (96ST, 93RP, 92WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full red with a palish rim. Pure, superripe aromas of red cherry, violet, iodine and nutmeg. Superrich, highly concentrated and seamless, with densely packed flavors of raspberry, dark plum and marzipan. Finishes creamy-rich and explosively long, with a pretty violet note. This was so good I really had trouble letting the glass go. It's also the only time I can remember Fontalloro outclassing Rancia (of which I am a huge fan) by such a wide margin, something I had noticed even when tasting barrel samples of these two wines in the estate's cellar two years ago. I'd wait a good five years on this one, then enjoy it for another two decades. Proof positive that Sangiovese is one of the world's great grape varieties. (ID)" (08/2010)

1999 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

93 points Wine Spectator: "A modern style, with densely packed plum and berry on the nose, with light licorice and eucalyptus notes. Full-bodied and tight, with a core of crushed black fruit, firm tannins and a long, long minerally finish. Very closed now, but should be fantastic after a year or two.
