Montechiara Prosecco DOC $9.99
This has become a go-to favorite for customers and staff at K&L. Priced at a level that allows for corks to pop any old time it suits you, the Montechiara phenomenon continues to gain followers by the hour. See for yourself why this value sparkler is getting so much attention.
Just a note to clear up some nomenclature issues with this brand. Silvano Follador has added an extra word to their label, "Nature." It means that the finished wine has less than 3 grams per liter of residual sugar, so even though their wines are Brut, Brut can be decidedly higher. Nature is a designation that is more definitive. Most Prosecco is Extra Dry and that is 12-20 grams per liter which could go from dry-ish to outright sweet. Follador is looking to distance themselves from the rest of the pack.
90 points Wine & Spirits: "There's a hint of complexity in the interplay between this wine's gentle sweetness and crisp acidity, like biting into a freshly picked ripe pear. It's lean and focused, a match for warm goat cheese on crostini." (12/2009) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The non-vintage Prosecco del Valdobiaddene Extra Dry is a featherweight Prosecco displaying light, crisp, grapefruit and citrus notes, pure flavors, good acidity and a zesty, but not overly aggressive effervescence. Enjoy it over the next year. (RP)" (6/2014) Wine Enthusiast: "This offers aromas of wisteria, jasmine, white stone fruit and a whiff of almond. ...Read More »
90 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Best Buy* Delicate aromas of white flowers, stone fruit and pear lead the way. On the palate, a core of green apple and citrus is carried by vibrant, fresh acidity. Small, lively bubbles lend finesse. (KO)" (12/2015) Jancis Robinson: "Quince, herbs and a touch of aspirin. This really has a lot more fruit depth than most Proseccos at this price. Medium dry but finishes fresh. Well priced, just a slight sensation of boiled sweets on the finish – but I’d rather this than the more bland style that seems so common now Prosecco is everywhere." (11/2015) Wine Spectator: "A clean Prosecco, with appl ...Read More »
91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige Brut offers a sophisticated and stylish presentation with exotic fruit, baked bread, peach cobbler and Golden Delicious apple. This pretty Cuvée (made with 75% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Bianco and 15% Pinot Nero) offers a great sense of richness and creaminess that adds to the fine and silky nature of the perlage. It has the natural acidity and bright freshness to pair with raw seafood. (ML)" (9/2015) 90 points Decanter: "Bright and lively, with a lovely stream of tiny bubbles and rich stone fruit and floral flavours. 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The non-vintage Prosecco del Valdobiaddene Particella 68 comes from a hillside vineyard planted with 40-60-year-old Glera vines in rocky soils. It reveals more minerality along with honeyed grapefruit and apple-like fruit. Crisp and light-bodied with more intensity and flavor than its sibling ... (RP)" (6/2014) 90 points Vinous: "Bright straw-green. Sexy, clean aromas of floral white peach, apricot and tangerine. On the palate, soft citrus and pineapple flavors are enlivened by vibrant acidity and nicely extended on the creamy, luscious back end. (ID)" (9/2011) Jancis Robinson: "Very different ...Read More »

(11/2016) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This luminous sparkler opens with aromas of jasmine, orange blossom and white peach. Wine Spectator: "Well-spiced and fruit-forward, with candied black cherry and crème de cassis notes, backed by lively acidity. Graphite, spice and orange zest details show on the finish." (12/2015)
Located in the picture-perfect village of Casilglione Tinella, in the heart of the Langhe (Piedmont), the Saracco family has been growing Moscato d'Asti for four generations. The soils here are comprised of limestone mixed with sandy veins and the vineyard's elevation provides the right temperature and humidity balance. This wine has lots of fresh peach, pear and jasmine on the nose and a gentle sparkle on the palate that brightens the fruit. Try as an apertivo or as a refreshing finish to a meal.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Moscato 100% Intense grape, floral and honey aromas. Spicy. Sweet with crisp acid to balance. Moderately fine bubbles. Light body and alcohol (7%). Long finish, straightforward, some minerality. (LPB)" (3/2010) K&L Notes: Muscat grapes, being particularly aromatic, require a special winemaking technique in order to preserve the fruit's potent fragrance and to create a wine that is light on its feet and a fine accompaniment to fruit and nut-based desserts. The gently pressed grape juice is kept in refrigerated tanks until it is processed into the autoclave to obtain a... Read More »
Oblio is a blend of Lambrusco Salamino, Lambrusco Maestri and Ancellotto. This is not as dry as their Terra Calda and not as sweet as their Lambruco Dolce. Dense and full-bodied, it possesses just a hint a sweetness, reminiscent of strawberries and wild flowers, with a dry, dusty finish. This Rosso Frizzante is a must-serve for your holiday parties.
Wine Enthusiast: "This dry sparkling red wine opens with an inky dark color and offers pulpy tones of raw fruit and blackberry jam with tart cherry and cranberry on the finish." (8/2013) K&L Notes: Concerto is the world’s first single vineyard vintage Lambrusco. A sparkling dry red wine, its lively bubbles are achieved through natural fermentation. Grapes from the prestigious Tenuta La Rampata vineyard in Reggio Emilia province are grown on Cordone Speronato (cordon trained and spur pruned) vines in clay soil with highly limited yields. The wine is best served at a temperature of 57 t... Read More »

About the producer: "Driven by an infallible love for his land, Enzo Manicardi founded his winery in the hills of Castelveto more than 30 years ago. He had the intuition to choose one of the most fertile areas within Emilia Romagna: a prosperous place surrounded by forests and rows of vines. Over the years, leadership of the company has been passed down to the second generation, who grew up cultivating the same principles and sharing the same values of his father. This has in fact been able to maintain that perfect and almost magical balance between Emil... Read More »
Wine Enthusiast: "Here’s a cheerful Prosecco Brut (in bright green packaging) with distant aromas of stone fruit, melon, kiwi and white stone. It offers creamy foam and a soft approach on the palate followed by lively acidity." (7/2009) K&L Notes: Franceso Drusian is the third generation of his family to make wine from the Prosecco grape, but the first to make sparkling Prosecco, which he has been doing since 1986. He cares for his vineyards in Conegliano and Valdobbiadene biodynamically, and this comes through in his wines. This Prosecco shimmers in the glass, casting glints of gold ... Read More »

92 points Vinous: "Bright copper-tinged pink. Knockout aromas and flavors of red berries, nectarine, minerals, herbs and orange peel. Creamy but with juicy verve and lovely floral lift extending the stone and citrus fruit flavors on the long back end. Outstanding; this is the best Rosato bubbly from Murgo I have memory of. (ID)" (4/2016) 90 points Wine & Spirits: "Nerello Mascalese grapes harvested for this wine underwent twenty-four hours of skin contact, imparting a pale salmon color and delicate flavors of red berries underlined by a fine minerality. Brisk acidity gives it a crisp, clean finish while a note of white almond signals the close. Small persistent bubbles add finesse. (KO)" (10/2015) K&L Notes: At K&L we give this wine two thumbs up and three stars for value. On the nose, there are generous notes of apples, peaches, tropical fruits and pear blossom. It’s wonderfully balanced and elegant, with a pleasurable spiciness. The palate is rich and creamy, with pret... Read More »
Bellini is a cocktail which, according to the original recipe, is composed of two parts of sparkling wine, one part of white peach juice (obtained from select, perfectly ripe peaches) and a few drops of wild raspberry. It is a classic aperitif, with an alluring peach fragrance. Bellini, estate-bottled in clear, satin-finished glass bottles, is the result of the fruit drink processing technology perfected by Canella after many years of long and scrupulous research, which guarantees its natural character. It is best enjoyed chilled.
