(10/2015) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Dark berry, underbrush and tobacco aromas lead the nose of this vibrant, structured wine while the palate doles out black cherry, fresh raspberry, licorice and clove. Fresh acidity and supple tannins balance the juicy flavors. Drink through 2018. (KO)" (9/2015) 92 points Wine Spectator: "*Smart Buy* This is rich and sumptuous, boasting pure flavors of cherry and raspberry, matched to a juicy texture. There are plenty of tannins neatly folded into ...Read More »
93 points Decanter: "Bright ruby and transparent, yet you find yourself searching the glass for a skeleton, skate-wing bones of neatly structured and delicate tannins fanning out through the fruit. Fine, focused and extremely drinkable. Drink 2015-2022" (6/2015) 92 points James Suckling: "A beautiful red with delicate but rich flavors, bright acidity and an orange-peel undertone. Medium body with fine tannins and a fresh, clean, savory, salty finish. Very Burgundian. Pure Sangiovese. Drink now or hold." (10/2014) 17 points Jancis Robinson: "17++, Mid ruby with orange tinges. Exotically spiced nose with black tea leaves and sweet red ...Read More »
94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From the 6.25-hectare Rancia vineyard, the 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia shows a more elaborate and stylized personality with ripe fruit tones, bursting cherry, perfumed violets and rose petal. Those floral notes add a feminine touch to what is in fact a wine of power and determination. It shows a beautiful evolution in the glass as well, with dusty mineral notes that add to the overall elegance of the dry, polished finish. This is one of the best Riservas of 2011. (ML)" (10/2014) 94 points Vinous: "94+: A wine of incredible density, the 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva ...Read More »
91 points James Suckling: "Aromas of fresh mushrooms, dried fruits and cedar follow through to a full body, round and silky tannins and a chewy finish. A wine with lots of ripe fruit and structure for a Chianti Classico. Drink now." (10/2015) 90 points Vinous: "The 2012 Chianti Classico hits the palate with serious intensity and power. Juicy red-fleshed fruit, tobacco, mint and spice open up in a large-scaled, wine built on resonance and depth. The 2012 is a bit on the flamboyant side, but nicely balanced just the same. (AG)" (9/2015) Wine Enthusiast: "This pure expression of Sangiovese offers alluring aromas of ripe pl ...Read More »
93 points James Suckling: "Aromas of dried tangerines and plums with hints of flowers. Full body with ultra-fine tannins and a delicious balsamic, dark-fruit and plum character. Savory and delicious. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold." (10/2014) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Reinforced by beefy tannins, this black cherry- and plum-filled version offers floral and spice accents. In a modern, fruity style, yet not oaky, this stays lively and persistent through the long aftertaste. Best from 2016 through 2027. 15,000 cases made. (BS)" (10/2014) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I am always impressed by the wines of Fontodi. The 2011 Chiant ...Read More »
Wine Spectator: "An easygoing, fruity style, on the light side, with candied cherry, cranberry and earth flavors. (BS, Web-2015)" K&L Notes: Cetamura is Coltibuono's well-made trattoria-style Chianti that's perfect for everyday meals and gatherings. It's produced entirely in steel tanks and offers delicious Sangiovese fruit from start to finish.
95 points Wine Spectator: "Honey, caramel, sea salt, walnut and dried apricot aromas and flavors signal this intense, complex dessert wine. Lively and harmonious, with fine length and a lingering, nutty finish. (BS, Web—2015)" K&L Notes: Villa Pillo is situated in the heart of the Chianti region, equidistant from the famed cities of Pisa, Florence and Siena. The winery was purchased by John and Kathe Dyson in 1989, who restored the estate, refurbished the winery and replanted many of the vineyards. Their Vin Santo, however, is made from Trebbiano (80%) and Malvasia (20%) planted in 1968. The b... Read More »
93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Earthy aromas of leather, tilled soil, blue flower, mature black fruit and a balsamic note waft from the glass. The firm palate delivers spiced plum, ripe black cherry, menthol, vanilla, mocha and well-integrated oak alongside youthfully assertive tannins. Drink 2015–2025. (KO)" (7/2015) 92 points James Suckling: "This is so decadent and beautiful with a dried-meat, berry and spice character. Full-bodied, round and savory. So juicy and gorgeous. Yummy. Drink now." 91 points James Suckling: "Firm and structured red with plum, cedar and tea leaves on the nose and palate. Full and slightly chewy yet polished and flavorful." (10/2012) 90 points Vinous: "Dark cherries, tobacco, scorched earth and leather emerge from a broad-shouldered frame in the 2008 Chianti Classico Riserva. Here, too, there is plenty of character in the glass. As good as the 2008 Riserva is, it could be a better wine if some of the rusticity were tamed a bit. (AG)" (8/2013) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Starting to show some mature notes of leather, autumn woods, spice and dried fruit, this red is traditional in nature. Firm a ...Read More »

La Gioia is 100% Sangiovese from biodynamically farmed and modest-yielding 40 year old vines. The wine is aged in a combination of new and second-use French oak for 3 years before bottling. The resulting wine displays a dark and rich spectrum of Sangiovese with power and excellent potential longevity.
93 points Vinous: "Isole e Olena's 2006 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, a wine that was originally produced for home consumption, turned out to be the drawing board for the Gran Selezione. Cherry jam, earthiness, spices, mocha, sweet herbs and French oak all meld together in the glass. The 2006 is marked by a slightly oxidative note in its aromatics it has always shown - the result of having spent three and a half years in oak. Otherwise, the 2006 is exceptional. (AG)" (9/2015)

90 points James Suckling: "I like the chocolate, berry and meat aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and porcini. Finishes with milk chocolate. Wonderful now." (12/2011) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Chianti Classico is a cool, inviting wine laced with dark wild cherries, licorice, leather and tobacco, all of which flow gracefully. This mid-weight Chianti Classico is all grace and elegance. Sweet, elegant tannins round out the finish. The Chianti Classico is 95% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 12 months in cask. (AG)" (8/2011) Wine Spectator: "This red is infused with a fresh minerality, show ...Read More »

91 points Wine Spectator: "Gorgeous reserve Chianti Classico. Wonderful aromas of roses, berries and violets. Full-bodied, with silky, polished tannins and a long, caressing, textured finish." (10/2000) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The serious 1997 Chianti Classico Riserva (4,000 cases of 100% Sangiovese) is structured, dense, concentrated, and ageworthy. It requires 1-2 years of cellaring. A deep ruby/garnet color is followed by aromas of dried herbs, roasted beef, black cherries, plums, cedar, and leather. On the palate, blackberry fruit makes an appearance. Sweet, pure, long, ripe, and moderately tannic... ...Read More »
