2013 Sergio Barale "La Preda" Barbera d'Alba Superiore

Barale's 1.2 acre, southwest-facing Preda vineyard is in the commune of Barolo and was planted in 1994. The grapes are harvested in the last half of October giving it a bit more richness but not overripeness. The grapes are destemmed and fermented in 50hl wooden barrels for 8 days and then aged for one year in 500 liter Tonneaux. The wine shows a supple richness on the palate and is best adapted for grilled meats or heavier pasta.

2008 Bava Castiglione Falletto Barolo

These grapes come exclusively from vineyards planted in a calcareous-clay soil in the commune of Castiglione Falletto, home to producers like Vietti, Cavalotto and Scavino. Fermented in wooden tanks and then aged in a blend of 50hl barrels and some older barriques for three years. The 2008 vintage was classically styled. This is elegant, aromatic and supple with a bit of tannic grip in the finish.
