2015 Fratelli Barale Langhe Nebbiolo

These grapes come from a vineyard planted in 1975 in the commune of Monforte d'Alba, fermented in 50hl wooden casks for 10 days and then aged in 15-30hl French oak barrels for one year. The wine is a classic Old World style Nebbiolo, very light in color but exceptionally well adapted for meals — foods with a more woodsy (mushroom or truffle) character, or poultry.

2013 Elvio Cogno "Cascina Nuova" Barolo (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2013 Elvio Cogno "Cascina Nuova" Barolo (Pre-Arrival)

97 points James Suckling: "Aromas of dark berries, flowers and truffles. Full-bodied, super-integrated and refined. Great texture and a fantastic finish. Don't miss this. So approachable now but will be great for years in the future." (7/2017) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Barolo Cascina Nuova is the most accessible of the various single-vineyard Barolos released by the Elvio Cogno winery. But this vintage is a little different. Proprietor and winemaker Valter Fissore says that 2013 reminds him of 1999 for the deeper sense of structure and depth demonstrated by Nebbiolo this growing cycle. The vines are ...Read More »

Slightly better than the already excellent 2011. Try in 2020." (3/2016) 91 points Vinous: "Bosco Agostino's 2012 Barolo La Serra is a very pretty La Morra Barolo. Dark cherry, tobacco, smoke, licorice and leather are front and center. The La Serra tannins, often quite pronounced in wines from this site, are nicely integrated.
