2012 Damilano "Lecinquevigne" Barolo (Previously $33.00)

93 points James Suckling: "Very clean and bright aromas of crushed berries, chocolate and spices, yet this is subtle and pretty. Full body, firm and silky tannins and a long, long, polished and tannic finish. Drink or hold." (11/2016) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a wine I highly recommend especially for those who can't resist the beautiful taste of Nebbiolo in a more informal dining scenario (like around the kitchen table with family and friends). The 2012 Barolo Lecinquevigne sees fruit sourced from five vineyard sites, and all that mixing and matching gives the winemakers more flexibility for achievin ...Read More »

2012 Fratelli Barale Barolo

91 points Vinous: "The 2012 Barolo Vendemmia is a very pretty entry-level offering from Barale. Sweet floral and spice notes meld into red cherry, tobacco, licorice and leather. Lifted and aromatically expressive, with good depth, the 2012 impresses for its balance and overall harmony. Best of all, the 2012 will drink well with minimal cellaring. There isn't a whole lot of subtlety here, but there is plenty of power. Here, too, readers will have to be patient. Still, I don't expect the 2012 will ever be particularly polished. Cappellano Barolo Chinato (750ml)

The originator of this fabulous bitter aperitif wine, Cappellano is truly top dog when it comes to Chinato. This is absolutely the most overtly appealing and drinkable Chinato I have ever tasted. The family's secret recipe was developed over 100 years ago by Giuseppe Cappellano, the pharmacist son of this storied estate's founder, Filippo. While he died of tropical fever in Tunisia, his recipe lives on. This is the first Chinato I could imagine sitting down with and finishing the bottle, but it works so well as a mixer, you must experiment. Don't be shy... Read More »

2012 Francesco Rinaldi Barolo

Vinous: "The 2012 Barolo tasty, entry-level offering from Rinaldi. The mid-weight personality of the year comes through in this deceptively understated wine that offers good depth but plenty of supporting tannin. I would give the 2012 a year or two in bottle to fully come together, but this is a solid wine with potential. Dried flowers, sweet tobacco and dried cherries meld into the expressive finish.
