(9/2015) 91 points Vinous: "The 2011 Barolo Neirane is a lovely, mid-weight wine that captures plenty of Verduno personality in its lifted, perfumed aromatics and bright, finely sculpted fruit. 2011 Einaudi "Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi" Barolo (Previously $60)

93 points Vinous: "The 2011 Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi is the most complete of the wines in this range, largely the result of this site's slightly shelted exposure, something that is always an asset in warmer years. Expressive aromatic overtones add lift and precision to a core of pliant, racy fruit in a Barolo that captures the best qualities of the vintage while retaining plenty of poise. Dark red stone fruits, cherry pit, menthol and cinnamon are some of the many notes that are laced into the enticing finish. The Costa Grimaldi is quite a bit deeper and darker th ...Read More »

2012 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo (Pre-Arrival)

95 points Vinous: "Freshly cut flowers, mint, raspberry and red stone fruits all lift from the glass in the Maria-Theresa Mascarello's 2012 Barolo. Silky, open-knit and gracious, the 2012 is surprisingly delicious today. This is a decidedly mid-weight, approachable Barolo that is already quite open and delicious. Best of all, the 2012 won't need years to come together. Mascarello fans should buy the 2012 to drink over the near and medium-term, while some of the more structured vintages age in the cellar. 2008 Francesco Rinaldi "Le Brunate" Barolo

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Barolo Le Brunate is quite a bit richer, deeper and more powerful than the Cannubbio, as one might reasonably expect. Here the fruit boasts tons of pure resonance and stuffing while never losing its essential classicism. Plums, black cherries, leather, tar and licorice meld together, supported by firm yet beautifully integrated tannins. The 2008 Brunate is an explosive wine just waiting to emerge. When it does, it should be striking. Actually, it already is. (AG)" (10/2012)

Finely cut and chiseled, the Gavarini exudes energy and tension, both signatures of this high-altitude, Monforte site. Crushed flowers, dark red berries, mint, and crushed rocks are some of the signatures. So many 2012s are open-knit, but Grasso's Gavarini is going to need at least several years in barrel. 2008 Bava Castiglione Falletto Barolo

These grapes come exclusively from vineyards planted in a calcareous-clay soil in the commune of Castiglione Falletto, home to producers like Vietti, Cavalotto and Scavino. It will age for decades, but it is so in harmony and beautiful now. Gorgeous." (5/2011) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Scented with black cherry and plum, this international-style red shows plenty of smoky, toasty oak on the palate. It's rich, with sweet fruit, ample power and complexity, but will take some time to integrate the tannins. Best from 2016 through 2035. 300 cases imported. –BS" (4/2012) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Cicala is every bit as compelling as the ...Read More »

2010 Monchiero "Rocche di Castiglione Falletto" Barolo

Jancis Robinson: "Castiglione Falletto. Healthy mid ruby with orange rim. Unobtrusive, yet multilayered soft nose with hints of dried fruit and stewed tea leaves and orange peel. Bags of grainy tannins and juicy fruit on the finish. Still firmly in the grip of tannins, and certainly far from ready. (WS) 16.5 Points" (6/2014)

2008 Ciabot Berton Barolo

91 points James Suckling: "A beautiful balance to this wine with plum, chocolate and cedar character. Medium-to-full bodied, it shows the quality and complexity of 2008. Drink or hold." (12/2013) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Ciabot Berton’s 2008 Barolo is a gorgeous entry-level wine laced with expressive red berries, crushed flowers and licorice. The 2008 impresses for its overall sense of balance, poise and harmony. In particular, the tannins are considerably more polished and harmonious than has been the case in the recent past. This is one of the very best Baroli I have ever tasted at Ciabot Berton. The 2008 ...Read More »

1990 Poderi Aldo Conterno "Granbussia" Barolo Riserva (1.5L)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Barolo Riserva Granbussia is a ripe, exotic beauty endowed with plenty of tar, roses, licorice and wild herbs. Still spectacularly rich and intense, this full-bodied, layered Barolo offers superb length and a sweeping finish where the glycerin and sheer weight of the vintage come through in spades. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. (AG)" (2/2010) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Rich and powerful but very elegant. Dark ruby color. Aromas of black pepper, spices and berries with a floral character beneath it all. Full-bodied, with well-integrated, fine tannins and a finish that goe ...Read More »

2011 Parusso "Bussia" Barolo

94 points Vinous: "The 2011 Barolo Bussia is the most tannic of Parusso's 2011 Barolos. Firm tannins provide the backdrop for a huge, powerful wine built on serious depth. Sweet floral and savory notes from the whole clusters add aromatic lift and striking perfume, but the Bussia remains a decidedly vertical Barolo that emphasizes structure. Far from an easygoing wine, the 2011 Bussia is going to need time to fully blossom. (AG)" (3/2015) James Suckling: "Slightly high octane with berry, floral and earth character. Full body, chewy tannins and a very ripe finish. Rich and juicy on the finish ...Read More »

2000 Parusso "Bussia Vigna Fiurin" Barolo

93 points Wine Spectator: "Earthy, with meaty and floral aromas over the ripe and rich fruit character. Full-bodied, with beautiful fruit and silky tannins. Long, long finish. Very silky and tightly packed. Fine wine. Give it air and enjoy." (7/2004) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Barolo Bussia Vigna Fiurin is from a plot with a more western-facing exposure, which contributes to some of the spiced, balsamic notes that take shape in the glass. My impression is that the fruit will dry out before the tannins fade, so the Fiurin needs to be enjoyed over the next handful of years, while its balance remains. ( ...Read More »

2001 Roberto Voerzio "Sarmassa" Barolo (1.5L) (nicked and lightly soiled label)

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Barolo Sarmassa (magnum) flows onto the palate with crushed rose petals, truffles, spices and sweet herbs. It shows gorgeous mid-palate pliancy and depth through to the round, opulent finish. The Sarmassa has aged quite gracefully. There is more than enough rich, dark fruit to support another two decades of very fine drinking. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2026. (AG)" (4/2012) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Round and very rich with blackberry, vanilla and chocolate character. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long finish. This is a generous and very attractive Barolo. Always ...Read More »

1990 Aldo Conterno "Colonnello" Barolo

94-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The super-concentrated 1990 Barolo Vigna Colonnello Bussia is an outstanding wine. When I tasted it, it appeared more structured, tannic, and backward than the 1989. Perhaps it is just the one year difference in age, but the advantage the 1989 enjoys over the 1990 at present is that its fruit is sweeter and more evolved. (RP)" (4/1994) 92 points Wine Spectator: "A chewy wine with generous, concentrated flavors, tarry and smoky up front, with a grace note of sage to the basic berry and black cherry flavors. Tannins coat the mouth, but so do the flavors. Seems to have enough in reserv ...Read More »
