2010 Terre da Vino "Essenze" Barolo

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This straightforward, inviting Barolo boasts classic Nebbiolo aromas of rose, leather, berry spice and tilled earth. It’s not loaded with complexity, but the sour cherry, black pepper and clove flavors are delicious. It closes on a note of subtle oak alongside a drying, tannic finish. (KO)" (10/2014)

2010 Cantine Ascheri Barolo

Matteo Ascheri is in charge of a vibrant wine cellar and is producing really complex and interesting wines for excellent price points. The winery has been in his family and making wine since 1880 but really blossomed upon Matteo taking the reins. This 2010 Barolo is a blend of three different Barolo communes 50% comes from Serralunga d'Alba where the most powerful wines are made and blended with 40% from La Morra and 10% from Verduno where high tone aromatics add a top end to the wine. This Barolo is made with 100% Nebbiolo, was harvested in mid October... Read More »

2008 Francesco Rinaldi "Le Brunate" Barolo

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Barolo Le Brunate is quite a bit richer, deeper and more powerful than the Cannubbio, as one might reasonably expect. Here the fruit boasts tons of pure resonance and stuffing while never losing its essential classicism. Plums, black cherries, leather, tar and licorice meld together, supported by firm yet beautifully integrated tannins. The 2008 Brunate is an explosive wine just waiting to emerge. When it does, it should be striking. Actually, it already is. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038. (AG)" (10/2012) Jancis Robinson: "Barolo - La Morra. Mid ruby with broad or ...Read More »

2010 Damilano "Liste" Barolo

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Barolo Liste is utterly seductive and charming from start to long finish. This wine awards a high pleasure quota with the proverbial opulence and hedonistic plumpness that is not easy to achieve with the austere Nebbiolo grape. The Liste vineyard delivers the natural characteristics that are appropriate for dark and shapely wines. Thick extraction is followed by dark fruit, pressed blackberry, exotic spice, cola and balsam herb. It ages for two years in oak and two years in bottle, but it needs more time to lose its baby fat. 2010 Sergio Barale Barolo "Bussia" New! Top Pick!
2010 Sergio Barale Barolo "Bussia"

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Still tight, young and nervous, the 2010 Barolo Bussia Sergio Barale is aged in large oak casks like Barale’s other top Barolo expression. That slow oxidative process, combined with the extraordinary quality of the 2010 vintage has produced a classic Barolo that will endure in time and promises a long evolution ahead. In general, fruit from the Bussia cru tends to be more robust and structured as evidenced here. The wine’s garnet appearance is vibrant and bright and the finish boasts energy and verve. This is a delicious product that tastes simply divine with a bite of bitter chocolate. This wine is so alive and vibrant in the mouth and it shows exotic spice, cedar, spice box, dried rosemary, ginger, tar, cinnamon, dried roses and so much more. This digestivo will last decades. (10/2014) 90 points Vinous: "The 2010 Barolo Serralunga is a gorgeous entry-level wine. Crushed flowers, red berries, tobacco and anise are all laced together nicely. 2011 Einaudi "Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi" Barolo

93 points Vinous: "The 2011 Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi is the most complete of the wines in this range, largely the result of this site's slightly shelted exposure, something that is always an asset in warmer years. Expressive aromatic overtones add lift and precision to a core of pliant, racy fruit in a Barolo that captures the best qualities of the vintage while retaining plenty of poise. The pliant, expressive fruit and overall open-knit personality are those of a warm vintage, but the flavors are quite classic and old school-leaning. This is a very beautiful and expressive Barolo from Barale. Best of all, the 2011 will drink well upon release. The 2011 is a bit forward, but there is plenty to like. (AG)" (12/2015)

Fruit is sourced from a hillside plot with impossibly steep inclines and shallow soils (with white tufo and clay) for limited root penetration. These factors help curb the natural vigor of the grapevine and result in high quality fruit. This wine sees a long maceration period (up to 40 days) and almost six years of barrel aging in botte grande. Dark red cherry, plum, cloves, new leather, rose petal and mint notes are all wonderfully alive and delineated. The Tre Tine is a blend of fruit from Ravera, Cannubi-San Lorenzo and Le Coste, all in the town of Barolo. In the warm 2011 vintage, the significant presence of fruit from Ravera, a high-altitude site, gives the Tre Tine its sense of freshness and linear energy.
