2013 La Massa "La Massa" Toscana (1.5L)

93 points James Suckling: "A solid and chewy young red with dried blackberries, licorice and hints of toasted oak and walnuts. A full-bodied, energetic red from the Chianti Classico region of Panzano. Needs two to three years of bottle age. A blend of Sangivoese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante." (8/2015) 93 points Vinous: "A dark, sumptuous beauty, the 2013 La Massa opens with superb depth and textural richness. Inky blue/purplish fruit, smoke, white pepper and violets are all super-expressive. Pliant, concentrated and deep, the 2013 is shaping up to be a real beauty. I especially like the de ...Read More »

2010 La Gerla "Riserva gli Angeli" Brunello di Montalcino (1.5L)

96 points James Suckling: "Very fresh and aromatic with flowers, blueberries, dried cherries, oyster shell and seaweed. Full-bodied, tight and poised. Compressed palate. Very long and powerful yet very fine and fresh. This is getting better and better in the bottle. Drink or hold." (9/2015) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Pure cherry, rose and raspberry aromas and flavors are expressive in this complex, ripe Brunello. Hints of leather, tobacco, mineral and spice lay in wait, but this is all about the fresh fruit at this stage. Very harmonious, yet with plenty of structure. Long on the finish. Best from 2017 throug ...Read More »

2013 Fontodi "Flaccianello della Pieve" Toscana (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

97 points James Suckling: "Very precise and focused with blueberry, blackberry and currant character. Chewy tannins and tight. Full body, fabulous density and length. A classic. Needs five or six years to completely open but so beautiful in its youth. Real deal. From organically grown grapes." (7/2016) 97 points Vinous: "The 2013 Flaccianello della Pieve is a powerhouse. In this vintage, Flaccianello has all of its typical richness but also a good deal of freshness that will help it age. Interestingly, the stylistic difference between Flaccianello and Vigna del Sorbo is more accentuated in 2013 than i ...Read More »

2007 Aldo Conterno Barolo "Cicala" 1.5L (Pre-Arrival)

96 points James Suckling: "This is stunning, with licorice, flowers and dark fruits all over. Full and super silky and sexy. I am in love with this wine already. It will age for decades, but it is so in harmony and beautiful now. Gorgeous." (5/2011) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Scented with black cherry and plum, this international-style red shows plenty of smoky, toasty oak on the palate. It's rich, with sweet fruit, ample power and complexity, but will take some time to integrate the tannins. Best from 2016 through 2035. 300 cases imported. –BS" (4/2012) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Cicala is every bit as compelling as the ...Read More »

2010 San Filippo "Le Lucere" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

100 points James Suckling: "Amazing young Brunello with superb concentration and depth. Full body, chewy yet polished tannins and mineral, oyster shell and blueberry flavors. Goes on for minutes. Leave it until 2020 to open. A triumph." (10/2015) 96 points Wine Spectator: "The sweet, ripe fruit has an immediate impact, offering notes of cherry, strawberry and currant, followed by light oak spice, leather, tobacco and earth accents. The tannins peek through on the finish, but overall this is balanced and long. So harmonious that you may want to enjoy now, but this should only get better with time. Best from 201 ...Read More »

2000 Bruno Giacosa "Asili" Barbaresco Riserva (1.5L - some lightly torn labels)

98 points James Suckling: "The nose alone on this is reason enough to buy this. Rich and decadent with dried meats, dried mushrooms, ripe fruits, all tied together by flowers and a light cigar box character. The palate isn't bad either, loads of dried fruits, full-bodied and rich. Total decadence with a wild character. Makes me smile." (5/2012) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Barbaresco Riserva Asili is as it always has been; impeccably refined, nuanced and silky from start to finish. I have tasted (or drunk!) this wine at least a dozen times since it was first released. The bouquet shows the faintest sig ...Read More »

2004 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2004 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello "Monprivato" Barolo (1.5L) (96RP, 96VN, 92ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Mascarello’s 2004 Barolo Monprivato is an explosive wine with an almost Pinot-like expression of purity in its fruit. This round, sweet Barolo is extremely primary at this stage, with tons of dense fruit that almost cover the wine’s tannins completely. Subtle overtones of roses and tar develop in the glass, rounding out this majestic wine. Monprivato is one of the world’s very finest values in collectible, age-worthy wine, and the 2004 is another classic in the making. I was blown away by this wine’s sheer balance and harmony, both of which are remarkable considering the wine’s age. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2034. (AG)" (10/2008)

1999 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia "Ornellaia" Bolgheri Superiore (1.5L - soiled label)

Deep, satisfying flavors of plum, black currant and vanilla lead into an ultrasmooth finish that is clean as a hospital emergency room. (MS)" (8/2002) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Ornellaia (magnum) does not disappoint. This vivid, energetic wine emerges from the glass with a myriad of graphite, menthol, licorice, leather and dark fruit wrapped around a powerful core. The bouquet alone is worth the price of admission. Though not as opulen ...Read More »

Trudy and Sting's best wine ever. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. Very drinkable now but better in 2017." (10/2014) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Violet, black currant and boysenberry flavors highlight this fruity, supple red, showing abundant support from well-integrated tannins and lively acidity. Fine length. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2022 ...Read More »

1985 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia "Ornellaia" Toscana (1.5L) (soiled label)

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full medium-red color. Pretty, floral aromas of raspberry, licorice, mocha, cedar and smoke. Lush but vinous, with nicely integrated acidity giving shape and grip to the flavors. Not a big wine but sappy, classy and precise. Finishes with very firm but fine tannins and lovely purity. (ST)" (9/2004) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1985 Ornellaia (magnum) is big and full-bodied, with gorgeous complexity in its dark fruit, sweet cedar and spices. At nearly 25 years of age, the 1985 remains beautifully balanced. This is an exceptional wine, especially considering the vines were only thre ...Read More »
