2006 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino

97 points James Suckling: "Love the nose on this with blackberries, sweet tobacco, blueberries. Full body, with soft and silky tannins and a light jammy finish. Lots of dark fruits. Long finish. Loads going on in this one. Give it three to five years. Or more." (1/2011) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino flows with gorgeous layers of dark red fruit. This is one of the more muscular, virile wines of the vintage. Slow to reveal its character, the Valdicava Brunello will require significant patience, but I have seen the wine blossom beautifully, even in the smallest of vintages. A blast o ...Read More »

2006 La Poderina Brunello di Montalcino

95 points James Suckling: "Blueberries, flowers and raspberries. Love the nose, like so many others. Full body, with fine tannins and a silky textured finish. So much going on here. Class. Best after 2013." (1/2011) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "La Poderina's Brunello shows impressive balance between its bright fruit and sassy spice components. On the close, the wine exhibits a tight, firm and penetrating feel that is carried forth by acidity and the natural firmness of the tannins." (4/2011) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full red. Withdrawn but pure aromas of cherry and iron. Juicy red fruit and mineral flavors are a bit sullen today but ...Read More »

2006 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona "Vigna di Pianrosso" Brunello di Montalcino

96 points James Suckling: "This is a very rich Sangiovese on the nose with dried black cherries and strawberries. Lots of dark chocolate too. Loads of black chocolate cake and dried coffee cake character. Full and very powerful. Lots of ripe tannins. Goes on for minutes. Better in 2014." (1/2011) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Silky and elegant, offering cherry, raspberry, currant and violet aromas and flavors. Detailed and firmly structured, with refined tannins and a lingering aftertaste of red fruits. A Brunello of finesse and harmony. Best from 2012 through 2028." (8/2011) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Pianro ...Read More »

James Suckling: "So much ripe fruit here with currants and sultanas, yet fresh and very clean. Dark berries too. Incredible ripe Sangiovese character. Full body, with masses of fruit and chewy tan nins. Plus, there’s black licorice and dried berries. Give it time to soften. What a bottle. Will it ultimately be better than 2001 Tenuta Nuova? Yes. 2006 Collemattoni Brunello di Montalcino Back In Stock!
2006 Collemattoni Brunello di Montalcino

93 points James Suckling: "I love the aromas of strawberry pie and cream, with hints of dried berries. Full bodied, with velvety tannins and lots of ripe fruit. Long and beautiful. Succulent. Hard not to drink now, but will improve with age. Decadent. Made from organic grapes." (1/2011) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. Slightly reduced, musky aromas of raspberry, cherry, smoke, chocolate and minerals. Sweet, vibrant and taut; in fact, a bit youthfully imploded, with terrific pinot-like lift and minerality to its flavors of cherry, cola, flowers, leather and earth. At once sappy and elegant. Fin ...Read More »

2006 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino (96JS, 96RP, 96ST, 96VN, 94WS, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fuligni’s 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the stars of the vintage. Sweet floral notes weave through a core of expressive red fruit as the wine opens up in the glass. The 2006 shows incredible purity and finesse, most notably in its silky, polished tannins. This isn’t a blockbuster, but rather a wine that conquers through its sheer finesse. The wine spent 27 days on the skins. The volume and weight are influenced by the modern school, everything else is traditional all the way. The 2006 is the first vintage in which the percentage of French oak has been dropped to 25%, which has allowed the purity of the fruit to shine through to a degree that I have seldom, if ever, seen here. Rain during June naturally lowered yields and may partly explain why Fuligni’s 2006 is so phenomenal. Simply put, readers won’t want to miss this superb Brunello. Anticipate

2006 Domenico Clerico "Pajana" Barolo
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Domenico Clerico "Pajana" Barolo (96RP, 93JS, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Barolo Pajana reveals incredible aromatic complexity and intensity, something this particular site isn’t always capable of. There is lovely definition to be found as this classic feeling, mid-weight Pajana opens up in the glass. Layers of ripe dark fruit, spices, flowers, licorice and minerals develop seamlessly through to the close. I am floored by the wine’s volume, depth and length. Quite simply, this is a magnificent effort from Clerico. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031. (AG)" (02/2010)

2006 Scarzello Barolo Back In Stock!
2006 Scarzello Barolo

A small, 5-hectare vineyard located in the heart of Barolo, the Scarzello estate has a long and impressive history. Since its very beginning some three-hundred years ago, having been one of the only estates not owned by the extremely powerful Marchese Falletto (the grandfather of the Barolo wine), Scarzello has prided itself on its independence and its individuality. This tradition continues in full-force today, as the property remains to be family-owned and operated just as it has been for the past eight generations. The current winemaker and oenologist... 2006 Galardi "Terra Di Lavoro" Roccamonfina (1.5L)

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I am thrilled with the 2006 Terra di Lavoro, which easily lives up to the praise I bestowed upon it last year. This wasn’t an easy vintage for Galardi. The weather was uneven, and a drastic selection was necessary in the cellar. Overall production was even lower in 2006 than in 2005, but the estate’s commitment to quality paid off in a big way. The 2006 Terra di Lavoro presents an intriguing combination of compelling inner sweetness wrapped around a firm, imposing frame. This is a very Barolo-like Terra di Lavoro that gradually opens up to reveal is pedi ...Read More »
