2006 Terre de' Trinci "Ugolino" Sagrantino di Montefalco

Jancis Robinson: "Considered a riserva from a 45-year-old vineyard with ridiculously low yields of 30 hl. Vineyards in Montefalco and Bevagna, and the cantina is in Foligno. Beautiful mid ruby with the beginning of orange tinges. Savoury more than fruity at the moment and a little locked up on the nose. Yet it has a supple palate and not heavy at all. Rich tannins on the finish. Aged for at least 18 months in new barrique, which is pretty amazing, because you hardly notice it on the nose. It may have added more tannins, whereas with less new oak you would have had a reall ...Read More »

2006 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino

97 points James Suckling: "Love the nose on this with blackberries, sweet tobacco, blueberries. Full body, with soft and silky tannins and a light jammy finish. Lots of dark fruits. Long finish. Loads going on in this one." (1/2011) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino flows with gorgeous layers of dark red fruit. This is one of the more muscular, virile wines of the vintage. Slow to reveal its character, the Valdicava Brunello will require significant patience, but I have seen the wine blossom beautifully, even in the smallest of vintages. A blast of iron, smoke, tar, licorice and new l ...Read More »

Loads going on in this one. Give it three to five years. Or more." (1/2011) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino flows with gorgeous layers of dark red fruit. 2006 Silvio Nardi "Vigneto Manachiara" Brunello di Montalcino

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Austere and reserved with a dark side of exotic spice, anise and mature black fruit, Vigneto Manachiara is a savory, masculine and intense Brunello. In the mouth, the wine tastes dense, concentrated and opulent. This is a real crowd pleaser." (4/2011) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full medium red. Aromas of plum, redcurrant, coffee, mocha and oak. Broad, silky, sweet and seamless, but today a strong spine of acidity gives it a rather backward impression. Not yet as sweet or delineated as the normale, but this wine's tight bitter cherry and redcurrant fruit and rather clenched tann ...Read More »

Stunningly beautiful and vivid, the 2006 possesses tons of pedigree. Silky tannins, expressive floral notes and delineated, red-toned fruit set the stage for powerful, voluptuous Barolo that satisfies all the senses. Like the Cannubi Boschis, the 2006 Le Vigne is in a gorgeous spot to deliver phenomenal drinking pleasure now and over the next 10-15 years, perhaps longer. (AG)" (02/2017)

2006 Canalicchio di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Back In Stock!
2006 Canalicchio di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Here is a generous, modern and bold expression of Sangiovese Grosso whose soft layers of chocolate and dark cherry fruit help soften the natural acidity and structure of the 2006 vintage. A polished mineral note adds attractive definition on the finish. Tight and very firm; age this wine 10-20 years." (5/2012) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a big, broad-shouldered wine endowed with tremendous depth and richness. Black cherries, licorice, new leather and tobacco wrap around the palate in this dramatic, sweeping Brunello. Despite the wine's size, ...Read More »

2006 Il Poggione "Vigna Paganelli" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2006 Il Poggione "Vigna Paganelli" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (97RP, 96WE, 94ST, 92WS, 91JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli is huge, powerful and totally implosive. The seductive allure of the 2007 is nowhere to be found. Instead, the 2006 is built on a serious spine of formidable tannin and dark red/black fruit. Hints of tar, licorice, rose petals and tobacco inform the powerful, virile finish. The 2006 is going to require considerable patience, but it is clearly a jewel of a wine, even at this early stage. (AG)" (04/2012)

2006 Luciano Sandrone "Cannubi Boschis" Barolo
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Luciano Sandrone "Cannubi Boschis" Barolo (97RP, 96VN, 95WS, 91JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Barolo Cannubi Boschis is seductive, round and sweet in its ripe dark fruit. The wine continues to gain weight in the glass, showing a level of density that nearly manages to cover the tannins. Floral notes add lift on the finish. This is a powerful, linear Cannubi Boschis with tons of energy and muscle, but it will require quite a bit of patience. Sandrone harvests his three parcels in Cannubi Boschis separately. Vinification takes place in stainless steel. The wines undergo malolactic fermentation and are aged in 500-liter barrels (roughly 20% new) for a year. Once the final blend is assembled, the wine goes back into oak for another year prior to being bottled in the spring. Sandrone is one of the earliest producers to bottle, which he does to preserve as much freshness as possible. (AG)" (02/2010)

2005&2006 Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore Vertical
Bid on this 3-bottle 2005&2006 Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore Vertical, including 2-bottles of 2005 Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore (95RP) and 1-bottle of 2006 Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore (92WE, 91RP, 91WS). Of the 2005 Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Dal Forno should really change the name of his 2005 Valpolicella Superiore. It is really an Amarone for all practical intents and purposes, as it is made entirely from fruit that has been dried, albeit for less time than that legally required for Amarone. Firm, sturdy tannins frame blackberries, blueberries, violets and new leather in the 2005 Valpolicella. This is an especially structured, shut-down wine, even within the context of Dal Forno. The wine’s gorgeous inner perfume and sheer depth suggest that all that is required is patience. With time in the glass the tannins soften just enough to get a glimpse of what is in store for those who can wait a few years.
