2007 La Fortuna Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (Elsewhere $75) Top Pick!
2007 La Fortuna Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (Elsewhere $75)

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "La Fortuna's riserva shows a touch of sweetness on the nose with aromas of plump cherry, melted chocolate, exotic spice and fragrant blue flower. In the mouth, Sangiovese Grosso's natural austerity and freshness brings out the wine’s nuanced complexity and long persistency." (5/2013) 92 points James Suckling: "Interesting aromas of dried berries with cherries and watermelon. Full body, with integrated, chewy and polished tannins. Tangy finish. Pretty citrus undertones here. Drink or hold." (2/2013) 92 points Wine Spectator: "This ripe red delivers cherry, plum, raspberry and floral notes on a rich, dense textur ...Read More »

2007 Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino (Pre-Arrival)

97 points James Suckling: "Aromas of blackberries and blueberries follow through to a full body and velvety tannins. This is so layered and deep. Fabulous texture. Better in 2014. We will see in the end whether 2006 or 2007 is better. Try in 2016." (1/2012) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino wraps across the palate with layers of sweet red cherries, flowers, licorice and spices. Soft and sensual, the 2007 impresses for its impeccable balance and long, suave finish. The 2007 kept improving over the time I followed it. This is a vintage built on silky elegance and expressive fleshiness i ...Read More »

2007 Paolo Conterno "Ginestra" Barolo Riserva (Pre-Arrival, Elsewhere $117)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Riserva Ginestra is born in extremely difficult conditions. Fruit is sourced from a hillside plot with impossibly steep inclines and shallow soils (with white tufo and clay) for limited root penetration. These factors help curb the natural vigor of the grapevine and result in high quality fruit. This wine sees a long maceration period (up to 40 days) and almost six years of barrel aging in botte grande. The results are spectacular with rich floral and menthol aromas folded within the wine’s silky texture. This 2007 Riserva feels much youn ...Read More »

2007 Scacciadiavoli Sagrantino di Montefalco

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Montefalco Sagrantino shows off layers of dark fruit, juniper berries and sweet medicinal herbs in a sumptuous expression of Sagrantino. All of the elements come together nicely here, as the hard Sagrantino tannins and some of grape's wildness have been tamed but without the loss of too much varietal character. A lush, refined finish rounds things out nicely. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019." (6/2011) Jancis Robinson: "Dark ruby with bricky rim. Balsamic cherry with real depth and a little earthy. Elegant palate weight and big tannins. Quite pure fruit on the finis ...Read More »

2007 Antinori "Tignanello" Toscana
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Antinori "Tignanello" Toscana (95RP, 94WE, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Antinori's 2007 Tignanello is wonderfully ripe and seductive in its dark cherries, flowers, spices, tobacco, sage, cedar, mint and minerals. This is as opulent a Tignanello as I have ever tasted but there is just enough acidity and structure from the Sangiovese to keep things from going over the top. The wine's richness and warmth are such that in a blind tasting I mistook the 2007 Tignanello for a wine from Maremma! The dense, muscular fruit follows through to an impeccable finish with no hard edges and impossibly fine, silky tannins. Simply put, the 2007 is a magnificent Tignanello...80% Sangiovese aged in 300-liter French oak barrels (1/3 new), 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, both aged in 100% new 225-liter French oak barriques. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2027." (10/2010)

2007 Vietti "Rocche" Barolo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Vietti "Rocche" Barolo (99RP, 98JS, 96ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Vietti's 2007 Barolo Rocche is shaping up to be one of the wines of the vintage. The bouquet alone is transcendental. The voluptuous, classy Rocche shows off endless layers of fruit in an exciting and totally alluring expression of Nebbiolo. The wine seems to float on the palate, as the essence of geraniums, red berries, hard candy and minerals conquer all of the senses. Fine, silky tannins frame a finish of breathtaking beauty. The Rocche spent a full 5 weeks of contact on the skins. Like all the Vietti Baroli, malolactic fermentation was carried out in French oak after which the wine was racked into large, neutral casks for aging. The 2007 Rocche is the very finest wine I have ever tasted from Vietti. I only hope Alfredo Currado had a chance to taste this at least a few times before he passed away last year. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2032. " (02/2011)

2007 Aldo Conterno Barolo "Cicala" 1.5L (Pre-Arrival)

96 points James Suckling: "This is stunning, with licorice, flowers and dark fruits all over. Full and super silky and sexy. I am in love with this wine already. It will age for decades, but it is so in harmony and beautiful now. Gorgeous." (5/2011) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Scented with black cherry and plum, this international-style red shows plenty of smoky, toasty oak on the palate. It's rich, with sweet fruit, ample power and complexity, but will take some time to integrate the tannins. Best from 2016 through 2035. 300 cases imported. –BS" (4/2012) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Cicala is every bit as compelling as the ...Read More »

2007 Sesti (Castello di Argiano) Monteleccio Toscana

Jancis Robinson: "A nose of red berries and satsuma peel. Wonderful character in the bright lively concoction of oranges and black olives, tarragon and cherry. Very forward. The only small detractor for me is that the tannins are slightly drying. (TC) 16 Points" (3/2010)
