Wine Spectator: "Ripe cherry and raspberry flavors exude from this rich red, accented by leafy tobacco notes. This is firm too, with a moderately long finish. Drink now through 2019. (BS, Web-2016)"
91 points James Suckling: "This is very aromatic with dried-berry, mineral and floral character. Full body with firm tannins and a juicy finish. Lots of tannins but polished and chewy." (3/2015) Wine Enthusiast: "Blue flower, ripe black fruit, black pepper and cedar are just some of the aromas offered by this blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Sagrantino. 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aged in cement vats, Edi Keber's 2014 Collio is a pristine blend of 70% Friulano, 15% Ribolla Gialla and 15% Malvasia Istriana. The wine follows a local winemaking philosophy that sees structure thanks to Friulano, acidity thanks to Ribolla Gialla and fragrance from the Malvasia. Edi Keber dedicates most of his effort to this one wine. Beautiful tones of yellow rose and honey segue to creamy persistence. (ML)" (5/2016) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "A blend of 70% Friulano, 15% Ribolla Gialla and 15% Malvasia, this is perfumed with scents suggesting yellow flower, apple, citrus fruit an ...Read More »
Christian Kerschbaumer is a young winemaker and proprietor of Weingut Garlider in Alto Adige's Eisack Valley. English wine writer and critic Stuart Pigott writes: "His white wines are of a very special class... The Grüner Veltliner is also dynamic, yet more athletic and stress-laden, the aromas come from the glass: with wonderfully ripe, yellow fruits, but also cool, slightly iodine spice, which unfolds with every sip. Almost as if a primordial sea were breeding against the alpine pastures! When the vines grow older and this wine gets a bit more deep, a ... Read More »
91 points James Suckling: "Lots of dried berry, apple and lemon aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, outstanding acid tension and a long and flavorful finish." (10/2015) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Barbera d'Alba Bricco dei Merli is a dark and generous wine that is loaded tight with bright fruit flavors. The Cogno family describes it as having the exuberance of the 2011 vintage and the elegance of 2012. It's true that 2013 marches to the beat of its own drum with pretty fruit contours surrounded by a fringe of spice and light leather. It ages in large oak casks for 12 months and rests on the lees ...Read More »
90 points Wine Spectator: "A high-pitched red, featuring firm tannins that frame the black currant and bilberry fruit. Fragrant, racy in structure and elegant, with a long finish. Drink now through 2019. 125 cases imported. BS" (11/2016) K&L Notes: The 2013 vintage was cold and damp in Alba, but a sunny fall and a steady hand at the sorting table helped create beautiful, intricate wines. Tasting notes from the winery: "Hints of blackberries and spices. On the palate, it's full and harmonic. A perfect match for roasted meats, game dishes and seasoned cheeses."
Fattoria Rodano only produces 500 cases of this super Tuscan blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Sangiovese. Grapes were hand-harvested from the organically certified Viacosta vineyard which features 35-45 year old vines with a beautifully situated, south-facing amphitheater-like exposure. For a luxurious touch, the wine was aged in 60% new French barriques before bottling.
Though it's relatively unusual to find Italian Malbecs, the grape, in fact, is very well suited to the climate and soils of Maremma, the region best known for producing famed Super Tuscans such as Sassicaia and Ornellaia. Its tufo soils are so revered that they inspired the name Vie Cave, which is a nod to the early Etruscan roads carved into this volcanic rock. The 2009 vintage started wet and mild, but by harvest time, the grapes were beautifully ripe and balanced. The resulting Malbec is luxurious, but maintains a nice core acidity to make it food fri... 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "The nose is initially subdued but eventually reveals inviting aromas of spiced plum, leather, vanilla and a whiff of blue flower. The structured but elegant palate conveys blackberry, dried cherry, mint, savory herb and clove alongside bracing but fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. The lingering finish ends on a licorice note. Drink 2016–2023. (KO)" (3/2015) 90 points James Suckling: "A soft, fruity red with a plum, milk-chocolate and almond aftertaste. Full and delicious." (11/2015) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Here's a wine that gives ample room to varietal expression. The 2012 Negroamaro Masseria Maìme d ...Read More »
