2013 Ornellaia "Ornellaia" Bolgheri Superiore

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine will be released in May 2016. The 2013 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia is an integrated and seamless blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Alex Heinz tells me that 2013 was a difficult vintage especially towards the early part of the growing season. It balanced out during the summer and allowed for steady ripening of fruit before the harvest. But 2013 was not as hot as 2011 and 2012 overall, and this edition of Ornellaia is beautifully tonic and shapely as a result. The bouquet is very developed in terms of aromas t ...Read More »

2010 Antinori "Pian delle Vigne-Vigna Ferrovia" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

98 points James Suckling: "Fantastic aromas of dark fruits, mineral, bark and fresh mushroom follow through to a full body, firm and silky tannins and a long, long finish. Beautiful mouthfeel of velvety tannins. One of the greatest Brunellos ever made by Antinori. Drink or hold." (2/2016) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Plum cake, underbrush, dark berry, menthol and a touch of mocha unfold in the glass. The taut, full-bodied palate offers chewy black cherry, raspberry jam, licorice and sage framed in youthfully assertive, fine-grained tannins. A tobacco note closes the finish. Drink 2022-2032. 1997 Castello Banfi "Poggio all'Oro" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

96 points Wine Spectator: "Dark ruby red. Aromas of blackberry, dried flowers and cherry. Very intense and concentrated nose. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long flavorful finish. Lots of light vanilla and crushed dark fruits on the finish. Solid now, but better with age. (Web-2007)" 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Rock solid and compact. This wine is true-blue Brunello, meant to be cellared for 10 or more years. Flavors of plum, cherry and currant are pure, and there’s far more fruit here than wood. But the tannins are like nails and they get harder and harder with each sip. Yes, it’s a top-flight Brunel ...Read More »

2010 Donatella Cinelli Colombini Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

97 points Wine Spectator: "*Highly Recommended* There are plenty of bass notes here, augmented by plum, licorice, spice and chocolate hints, along with cherry and floral flavors. The solid structure suggests this will age at a glacial pace, though the long aftertaste indicates a lot of future pleasure. Shows excellent balance and harmony overall. Best from 2019 through 2036." (6/2016) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing a dark garnet color and thick consistency, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a very beautiful expression of Sangiovese executed in a generous and opulent style. Full body, bright acidity and a savory finish. Juicy and lively. Better to drink this beginning in 2020 but so impressive now." (2/2016) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Bolgheri Sassicaia is released 30 years after the death of Tenuta San Guido founder, Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, and in the same year that his son Nicolò celebrated his 80th birthday. Hard not to drink now, but will be even better with a little more bottle age." (4/2007) 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, dark ruby-red. Silky, open-knit and gracious, the 2012 is surprisingly delicious today. This is a decidedly mid-weight, approachable Barolo that is already quite open and delicious. Best of all, the 2012 won't need years to come together. Mascarello fans should buy the 2012 to drink over the near and medium-term, while some of the more structured vintages age in the cellar. Dark cherry, lavender, mint, hard candy, and a host of balsamic-inflected notes soar from the glass as this towering, structured Rivera shows off its personality. This is one of the more tannic, backward Riserva of the vintage. As such, demands patience. Just as extraordinary as it was last year, the Riserva once again shows just how magical this vintage was for Andrea Costanti. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli is huge, powerful and totally implosive. The seductive allure of the 2007 is nowhere to be found. Instead, the 2006 is built on a serious spine of formidable tannin and dark red/black fruit. Hints of tar, licorice, rose petals and tobacco inform the powerful, virile finish. 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Flaccianello della Pieve is super elegant, polished and impeccably refined, just as it always has been. At the same time, it is one of the bigger 2004s from Tuscany readers will come across. Dark red berries, flowers, spices and menthol are layered into the finish. Today the aromatics aren’t fully developed, but that should not be an issue in another few years. There is plenty of underlying structure to support many years of fine drinking. Superconcentrated, layered and dense, with the structure of a great 1945 claret, such as Latour. Still a blockbuster. Spellbinding. Needs a little time. (Web Only-2010)" 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino, good as it is, is rather perplexing. The wine offers a pristine narrative of both grape and place with crystalline aromas of cherry, blackberry, spice, leather, smoke and Mediterranean herb. 2006 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri (97VN, 96RP, 95JS, 95ST, 94WE, 94WS). Vinous: "The 2006 Sassicaia may very well go down as one of the all-time great recent vintages for this Tuscan thoroughbred. The year started off very warm but by August evening temperatures had moderated, leaving the fruit with a stunning combination of ripeness, perfume, acidity and tannin. The wine is simply glorious, that's all there is to it. Layers of dark fruit meld into smoke, leather, violets, menthol, earthiness and tar as this profound wine opens up in the glass. The creamy, silky finish lasts an eternity, as waves of fruit caress the tannins with breathtaking elegance. Everything is in the right place in this magical Sassicaia. This is one for the ages. In a word: Awesome. (AG)" (08/2009)

2011 San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri

95 points Wine Spectator: "*Collectibles* Ripe black cherry and blackberry flavors pick up rosemary, mineral and spice accents in this red, which is concentrated and intense, fresh and focused. Racy midpalate, this leans toward black currant and cedar notes on the solid finish. (BS)" (10/2014) 94 points James Suckling: "The aromas of this Sassicaia shows a wet earth, ripe blackberry and black currant character. Some nectarines as well. Full body, with round and velvety tannins and a succulent juicy finish. Savory and delicious already." (3/2015) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "0 Aromas suggest blackberry, cedar and Mediterranean scrub. 2003 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri

96 points Wine & Spirits: "Great terroirs often prove themselves in the most extreme vintages, as Sassicaia has done in the violent heat of 2003. The vineyard produced a supple, subtle and elegant wine. To describe the fruit character one might resort to analogies with black currant and smoky black tea, but it's more a textural experience for now, a mass of pleasure, hard to grasp. Its oak treatment delivers the kind of heady richness found in young Latour; its soil character provides a completely different context, though no less grand. Probably best starting at ten to fifteen ye ...Read More »

1999 Lisini "Ugolaia" Brunello di Montalcino New!
1999 Lisini "Ugolaia" Brunello di Montalcino

93 points Wine Spectator: "Sweet plum and berry aromas follow through to a full body, with ripe, pretty fruit, silky tannins and a round, juicy finish. Still a little chewy. Could use a year or two more of bottle age.--'99 Brunello blind retrospective (2009). Best after 2010. (Web Only-2010)" 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Intoxicatingly smoky nose, like fine wood burning slowly on a cold night. The mouth is jam-packed with vanilla, chocolate and cream as well as black cherry and dark currants. Sweet and easy throughout, with a touch of coffee on the finish. Lovely, chewy stuff." 1997 Vietti "Villero" Barolo Riserva New!
1997 Vietti "Villero" Barolo Riserva

97 points Wine Spectator: "Blockbuster. Ruby-garnet color with a brick-red hue. Aromas of ripe berry, almost prune, with coffee and mahogany, turning to berry and plum. Full-bodied, with firm chewy tannins and a long plum, smoke and spicy aftertaste. Giant wine. This still needs lots of time.--1997 Italian blind retrospective. Best after 2010. (JS, Web-2007)" 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1997 Barolo Riserva Villero is at the early part of its drinking window. It shows drop-dead gorgeous intensity and marvelous inner perfume, all supported by plenty of tannic heft. This is pure Villero and pure 1997, both a ...Read More »

2004 Giuseppe Quintarelli Valpolicella Classico Superiore
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Giuseppe Quintarelli Valpolicella Classico Superiore. The reputation of the estate of Giuseppe Quintarelli is simply legendary. Their beautifully crafted wines are celebrated worldwide and naturally the Amarone gets most of the prestige. But the Valpolicella Classico Superiore deserves just as much recogntion for delivering an excellent performance at a much more attainable price than the prestigious Amarone wines. This value is even more pronounced in a particularly fine vintage like 2004. Fruit for the Valpolicella Classico Superiore is sourced from the same 11 hectares of estate vineyard as the Amarone wines, with vines planted in limestone and basalt soils and averaging 30 years old. A ripasso wine, the grapes are crushed immediately after harvest and fermented on indigenous yeast. The wine is held until February when it is racked onto the must and lees of the Amarone wines, which begins a second fermentation and the wine gains further extraction f

2003 Antinori "Solaia" Toscana New!
2003 Antinori "Solaia" Toscana

95 points Wine Spectator: "* Collectibles * Fantastic aromas of crushed blackberry, licorice and strawberry. Full-bodied, with rich, velvety tannins and a long, fruity finish. Fruit-forward and exciting. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best after 2008." (10/2006) 92 points Vinous: "Antinori's 2003 Solaia clearly reflects the personality of the dry, torrid vintage. The 2003 has aged impeccably. It will drink well for another decade, although the style will naturally always be on the opulent side of things." (12/2013) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Despite the heat, this vintage lives up to the Solaia reputation with a slightly ...Read More »
