2013 San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri (Pre-Arrival)

98 points James Suckling: "Fabulous structure for a Sassicaia with powerful, polished, chewy tannins and ripe, subtle fruit. Aromas of blueberry, black currant, rosemary and lavender. Full body, bright acidity and a savory finish. Juicy and lively. Better to drink this beginning in 2020 but so impressive now." (11/2016) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Bolgheri Sassicaia is released 30 years after the death of Tenuta San Guido founder, Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, and in the same year that his son Nicolò celebrated his 80th birthday. This is a wine of excellent execution, beautiful balance and seamless in ...Read More »

2012 Duemani "Duemani" Toscana Top Pick!
2012 Duemani "Duemani" Toscana

99 points James Suckling: "The clarity and beauty to this wine are breathtaking. The aromas of peaches, orange peel, blueberries and blackberries are truly amazing. Full body, phenomenal depth of fruit and silky tannins. There is polish and finesse, yet the strength is monumental. Better in 2018 but why wait? Demeter certified as biodynamic." (8/2015) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The lovely 2012 Duemani is a wine that will show its potential further down the road. 2010 Antinori "Pian delle Vigne-Vigna Ferrovia" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

98 points James Suckling: "Fantastic aromas of dark fruits, mineral, bark and fresh mushroom follow through to a full body, firm and silky tannins and a long, long finish. Beautiful mouthfeel of velvety tannins. One of the greatest Brunellos ever made by Antinori. Drink or hold." (2/2016) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Plum cake, underbrush, dark berry, menthol and a touch of mocha unfold in the glass. The taut, full-bodied palate offers chewy black cherry, raspberry jam, licorice and sage framed in youthfully assertive, fine-grained tannins. A tobacco note closes the finish. Drink 2022-2032. 2010 Costanti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

98 points Vinous: "The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is fabulous. Dark cherry, lavender, mint, hard candy, and a host of balsamic-inflected notes soar from the glass as this towering, structured Rivera shows off its personality. This is one of the more tannic, backward Riserva of the vintage. As such, demands patience. Just as extraordinary as it was last year, the Riserva once again shows just how magical this vintage was for Andrea Costanti. 2000 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia "Ornellaia" Bolgheri Superiore

97 points Wine & Spirits: "(No tasting note given.)" (4/2004) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* Deep and delicious, with an earth-driven nose that conveys quality. Chunky plum pervades the chewy, dark palate, which offers a gorgeous mouthfeel and admirable depth. Only on the finish do you get a slight hint of oak. Overall it’s entirely solid and very likable, but as good as it is, it’s not quite on the level of the ’98 or ’99, which were amazing. (MS)" (11/2003) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Ornellaia (magnum) is a pretty, well-balanced offering with good concentration and complexity. 2010 La Gerla "Riserva gli Angeli" Brunello di Montalcino (1.5L)

Very long and powerful yet very fine and fresh. This is getting better and better in the bottle. Drink or hold." (9/2015) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Pure cherry, rose and raspberry aromas and flavors are expressive in this complex, ripe Brunello. Hints of leather, tobacco, mineral and spice lay in wait, but this is all about the fresh fruit at this stage. Very harmonious, yet with plenty of structure. Long on the finish. 2007 Isole e Olena "Cepparello" Toscana
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Isole e Olena "Cepparello" Toscana (96RP, 93ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Cepparello comes across as rich, round and totally seductive in this tasting. Stylistically, it shares many attributes with the 1990 and 1997, although in my view it is more elegant than those wines. There is an immediacy about the 2007 that is highly appealing, and which will make the wine accessible relatively early. Layers of fruit build beautifully to an exciting crescendo of aromas and flavors. This is an undeniably sexy Cepparello. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027 ... (AG)" (06/2012)

2003 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri
Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2003 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri (96W&S, 93RP, 93ST, 92WS, 91WE). Wine & Spirits: "Great terroirs often prove themselves in the most extreme vintages, as Sassicaia has done in the violent heat of 2003. The vineyard produced a supple, subtle and elegant wine. To describe the fruit character one might resort to analogies with black currant and smoky black tea, but it's more a textural experience for now, a mass of pleasure, hard to grasp. Its oak treatment delivers the kind of heady richness found in young Latour; its soil character provides a completely different context, though no less grand. Probably best starting at ten to fifteen years of age, this is balanced to develop for years after that." (04/2007)

2012 Gaja Barbaresco

Barbaresco with clarity and finesse. This has some wine from the top crus of Gaja such as Sori Tildin and Sori San Lorenzo in the blend because they were not bottled. Drink or hold." (10/2015) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Editors' Choice* In 2012, Gaja didn’t bottle his single-vineyard crus because they didn’t reach his high quality standards, and many of the grapes from these celebrated vineyards finished in this elegant, firmly s ...Read More »

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri (97VN, 96RP, 95JS, 95ST, 94WE, 94WS). Vinous: "The 2006 Sassicaia may very well go down as one of the all-time great recent vintages for this Tuscan thoroughbred. The year started off very warm but by August evening temperatures had moderated, leaving the fruit with a stunning combination of ripeness, perfume, acidity and tannin. The wine is simply glorious, that's all there is to it. Layers of dark fruit meld into smoke, leather, violets, menthol, earthiness and tar as this profound wine opens up in the glass. The creamy, silky finish lasts an eternity, as waves of fruit caress the tannins with breathtaking elegance. Everything is in the right place in this magical Sassicaia. This is one for the ages. 2010 Donatella Cinelli Colombini Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

97 points Wine Spectator: "*Highly Recommended* There are plenty of bass notes here, augmented by plum, licorice, spice and chocolate hints, along with cherry and floral flavors. The solid structure suggests this will age at a glacial pace, though the long aftertaste indicates a lot of future pleasure. Shows excellent balance and harmony overall. Best from 2019 through 2036." (6/2016) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing a dark garnet color and thick consistency, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a very beautiful expression of Sangiovese executed in a generous and opulent style. Needs five or six years to completely open but so beautiful in its youth. Real deal. From organically grown grapes." (7/2016) 97 points Vinous: "The 2013 Flaccianello della Pieve is a powerhouse. 1999 Fanti (Tenuta San Filippo) Brunello di Montalcino

98 points Wine Spectator: "Very dark in color, with aromas of raisin, blackberry jam, espresso and nuts. Full-bodied, with loads of powerful fruit and big, velvety tannins. Superconcentrated, layered and dense, with the structure of a great 1945 claret, such as Latour. Still a blockbuster. Spellbinding. Needs a little time. (Web Only-2010)" 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino, good as it is, is rather perplexing. Turns tight and almost tough. Needs time to open. (Web Only-2010) (JS)" 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The single-vineyard 1999 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli, riper and spicier in aroma than the regular bottling, full and with interesting notes of anisette and tar, features flavors of an important richness and density, slightly backward but very substantial and sustained. 2001 Rivetti La Spinetta "Valeirano" Barbaresco

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Moderately saturated medium red. Highly perfumed aromas of rose petal and marzipan ("like Serralunga Barolo in its perfume," notes Rivetti). Then powerful, vibrant and deep, with an almost Barolo-like density and plushness. Thanks to acidity a half-gram higher than that of the other 2001 Barbarescos the wine maintains superb vinosity and perfume in the mouth, and carries its high alcohol gracefully. (2/2016) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a wine that shows immense harmony and inner poise. 2007 Giuseppe Quintarelli Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

In 2011, Antonio Galloni wrote: "Giuseppe Quintarelli's passing earlier this year left a huge void in the wine world that isn't likely to ever be filled. The aromas are seamless and capture the essence of chocolate fudge, sweet cherry, blackberry, spice and vanilla. It boasts thick, dense extraction, excellent structure and amazing persistence." 2003 Tenuta di Trinoro Toscana Rosso

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet in color, the nose is scented of dried plums, kirsch, coffee grounds, leather, cigar boxes and grated nutmeg. Crisp in the full bodied mouth with firm fine tannins, there’s a good concentration of earthy / savory flavors and a long layered finish. (LPB)" (11/2010) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red-ruby. Ripe, pure black cherry, spicy plum, black pepper and hints of mocha on the nose, with the slightest hint of a roasted character. 2012 Vietti "Lazzarito" Barolo

96 points Vinous: "The 2012 Barolo Lazzarito impresses for its precision and class, two qualities that aren't easy to find in wines from this Serralunga site. Iron, smoke and white pepper lift from the glass in a vertical, structured Barolo endowed with real pedigree. A rush of pomegranate, red cherry jam, wild flowers and blood orange meld into the huge, bright finish. In 2012, the Lazzarito reconciles power and finesse like few vintages in the past. For the last few years, the Lazzarito has been knocking on the door of the big boys in this lineup, the Rocche and Ravera. ...Read More »

94 points Wine Spectator: "Dark ruby in color, showing aromas of currant, new oak and fresh herbs, with hints of spices. Full-bodied, with very chewy tannins and an outstanding concentration of fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Needs plenty of bottle age. Best after 2012." (10/2008) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Sassicaia is another strong effort from Tenuta San Guido. 2012 Vietti "Rocche di Castiglione" Barolo

97 points James Suckling: "Wow. The rose petal aroma is gorgeous with ripe strawberry and cherry undertones. Full body, dense and powerful. Chewy and rich tannins. Lasts for minutes on the palate. Best in 2022 but already stunning." (3/2016) 95 points Vinous: "The 2012 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is one of the bigger, richer wines in the lineup, which is a bit atypical. Readers should expect a huge, dramatic Rocche built on power, intensity and volume. At the same time, the Rocche is incredibly precise and layered. It is that very interplay of richness and finesse that makes the Rocche so alluring. R ...Read More »

2012 Vietti "Brunate" Barolo

97 points James Suckling: "The aromas of licorice, violets and bramble berries impress. Full body, incredible length and texture. Lasts for minutes on the palate. Give it at least five years to soften." (3/2016) 94 points Vinous: "A dark, powerful wine, the 2012 Barolo Brunate is the most brooding and inward of these wines. With time and a good bit of air, the Brunate becomes a bit more precise and nuanced, yet it remains a bit monolithic next to the other wines in the range. A host of savory herbs, licorice, tobacco and dark fruits meld into the huge, explosive finish. There is no shortage of depth o ...Read More »

96 points James Suckling: "This is stunning, with licorice, flowers and dark fruits all over. Full and super silky and sexy. I am in love with this wine already. It will age for decades, but it is so in harmony and beautiful now. Gorgeous." (5/2011) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Scented with black cherry and plum, this international-style red shows plenty of smoky, toasty oak on the palate. It's rich, with sweet fruit, ample power and complexity, but will take some time to integrate the tannins. Best from 2016 through 2035. 300 cases imported. –BS" (4/2012) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Cicala is every bit as compelling as the ...Read More »

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2002 Redigaffi is sweet and balsamic in its expression of jammy plum fruit, elegant and ample on the flow and with an expanding volume, firmness, and grip which should guarantee maximum pleasure for another decade and a half. (DT)" (4/2006) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Wonderful ripe fruit aromas of crushed blackberries and cherries. Full-bodied, with loads of vanilla and hints of tar, with an underlying raspberry jam character. Impressive New World style. An excellent wine for the vintage. (JS)" (10/2004)
