95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Taurasi Riserva Piano di Montevergine is a standout wine that excels on all fronts. The bouquet delivers an enormous level of harmony and intensity with well-articulated tones of spice, dark fruit, pressed blackberry, clove, cola and balsam herb. Nuanced mineral notes stand out very nicely and render a great sense of definition and focus. Equally impressive is the mouthfeel that moves over the palate with determination and elegance. The tannins are finessed, silky but extra firm. Thanks to the balanced acidity and its natural structure, this win ...Read More »
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From one of the most celebrated vineyards in Monforte d'Alba, the 2009 Barolo Bussia shows a tad more color and concentration upon first inspection. As expected, it also follows through with bigger aromas of dried cherry, spice and dark licorice, but nothing is out of place. It never abandons its promise of understated elegance. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028." (6/2013) 94 points James Suckling: "This smells like top Burgundy with light earth, flowers and berries. Full body, with ultra-fine tannins and a beautiful palate of subtle yet intense fruits and a long, long finish. Wonderf ...Read More »

96 points James Suckling: "This is the full treatment white from Italy and it always delivers. Aromas of cooked apple, cream, hints of toasted oak and peach. Full body, bright acidity, with tangy fresh fruit. Hints of yogurt and wood. Complex and truly great. Love the backbone of acidity that gives lovely form." (3/2016) 91 points Wine Spectator: "*Smart Buys* There's density to this minerally white, with flavors of kumquat, white cherry, graphite, chamomile and ground anise framed by rapierlike acidity that creates a sleek, almost lean impression on the zesty finish. Like a young Chablis, this should develop ...Read More »
95 points James Suckling: "Aromas of dark chocolate, berries, toasted nuts and vanilla bean follow through to a full body, firm tannins and a juicy finish. Lots of intense, beautiful fruit. Tight, layered red. All there. Better in 2017." (11/2014) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Fontalloro is a pure expression of Sangiovese with fruit sourced from the Chianti Classico area and the Colli Senesi area. It ages in new and once-used barrique for up to 22 months. Aromas flow with authority, spanning a large swath of fruit and oak-related attributes. 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Editors' Choice* Aromas suggesting underbrush, scorched earth, mature black-skinned fruit and a whiff of dried mint jump out of the glass. The big, chewy palate doles out mature Marasca cherry, graphite, chopped herb and dark cooking spice alongside firm, refined tannins. It’s delicious. This is an exciting new wine for me. Drink now." (10/2016) K&L Notes: This is an amazing wine, the first vintage ever from the Treves family who's been growing grapes for generations in Val d'Aosta who have decided to make wine from their own grapes, a whopping 280 cases. (10/2015) 90 points Vinous: "The 2010 Gattinara is a firm, classically austere wine with persistent tannins and a slightly compact personality. It will be interesting to see if the 2010 puts on weight in bottle, or if the tannins soften...Sweet dried cherries, tobacco, crushed herbs and dried flowers add shades of nuance through the middle and finish...Travaglini is one of the historic names in Gattinara. 91 points Vinous: "The 2012 Barolo Vendemmia is a very pretty entry-level offering from Barale. Sweet floral and spice notes meld into red cherry, tobacco, licorice and leather. Lifted and aromatically expressive, with good depth, the 2012 impresses for its balance and overall harmony. Best of all, the 2012 will drink well with minimal cellaring. The Barolo Vendemmia is a blend of fruit from the Preda, Monrobiolo and Coste di Rose vineyards." (11/2016)
92 points Wine & Spirits: "Full reviews to follow on their Aug 2016 issue:" (8/2016) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "With a little time in the glass, this eventually reveals subtle aromas of toasted almond, pressed yellow flower, beeswax and a whiff of honey. The honeyed note follows over to the enveloping palate, along with candied citrus peel, marzipan and mineral. Fresh acidity brightens the rich flavors and provides balance. It's already enjoyable but hold for more complexity. Drink through 2023." 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The NV Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige Brut offers a sophisticated and stylish presentation with exotic fruit, baked bread, peach cobbler and Golden Delicious apple. This pretty Cuvée (made with 75% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Bianco and 15% Pinot Nero) offers a great sense of richness and creaminess that adds to the fine and silky nature of the perlage. It has the natural acidity and bright freshness to pair with raw seafood. 91 points Vinous: "Black cherry plum, new leather, smoke, licorice and tobacco flesh out in the 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori. Dark, racy and inviting, the 2013 offers plenty of near-term appeal, but it should also drink well for another handful of years. 91+ (AG)" (10/2016) K&L Notes: Note: This is the Chianti Classico Riserva, not the IGT Super Tuscan from the winery: "This rounded, full-bodied wine is the result of careful selection of the best Sangiovese and Cabernet grapes grown in the Tignanello vineyard. (2/2016) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The La Fortuna 2011 Brunello di Montalcino reminds us of the elegant and nuanced side of Sangiovese that can be harnessed even in a challenging vintage like this. Despite the warm growing season, this wine shows depth and precision with wild berry tones that are followed by lingering aromas of balsam herb and licorice." 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The entry-level 2013 Etna Rosso unfolds to beautiful notes of wild berry, sour cherry, spice, grilled herb and volcanic ash. It shows elegant simplicity and a balanced level of intensity that is both genuine and bright. There are no rough edges to this Nerello Mascalese. The mouthfeel is silky and long with more fruit flavors to come. This is a well-made expression born in volcanic soils." (9/2015)
97 points James Suckling: "You can smell the potential and structure to this wine with dried mushroom, bark, dried cherry and berry aromas. Full body, firm and chewy tannins, yet this turns soft and fresh. Succulent and beautiful. A drink-me wine. This is foot todden before undergoing a long period of maceration and 2 1/2 years in old oak casks and barrels. Better in 2017 but a fabulous wine already. Pure Sangiovese." (8/2015) K&L Notes: 100% Sangiovese from one of Chianti Classico's classic estates.
Terre del Palio is located in Siena and exclusively produces wines from their 160 hectares of estate vineyards. Their Brunello di Montalcino undergoes a slow maceration and fermentation at controlled temperatures before aging for three years in Slavonian oak barrels and previously used French barriques. Ruby red color introduces complex aromas of red fruit and spice. From the elegant nose, the palate picks up in terms of power before the finish once again transitions back to purity and grace.
94 points Wine Spectator: "Textbook aromas and flavors of rose, cherry and tar, along with shadings of tobacco and mineral, combine with a firm, vibrant structure in this elegant, intense red. The long aftertaste echoes the flavors, while the juicy texture enhances them. Best from 2018 through 2032. (BS)" (9/2016) 92 points Vinous: "The 2012 Barbaresco Ronchi is a bit more immediate than the Ovello, but with larger-grained tannins and more power, both of which give it that slight burliness that Barbarescos from Ronchi can sometimes show. Dark cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and game hit the palate in a ...Read More »

(AG)" (2/2016) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing great depth and a clean, tonic style, the 2013 Rosso di Montalcino is streamlined and tight with bright berry fruit that emerges high and tall from the bouquet. 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Sporting a new label design, the 2011 Brunello di Montalcino represents a philosophical divide from previous vintages. In the past, Castiglion del Bosco was focused on soft and immediate Brunellos for near-term consumption. Despite the warm conditions of the 2011 growing season, this wine shows far more elegance, nuance and grace than I expected. This massive property is comprised of various vineyard sites for more blending possibilities. The bouquet is redolent of wild berry, cola and grilled herb. The tannins are silky but long in terms of persistence. ...Read More »
92 points Vinous: "The 2011 Barbaresco is round, sensual and inviting, with tons of near and medium-term appeal. This is an especially large-scaled, ample entry-level Barbaresco that shows just how compelling this vintage is here in the Barbaresco zone. Ripe, silky tannins wrap around the voluptuous, engaging finish. The Barbaresco emerges from a parcel just outside Montestefano with a more northerly exposure that in this vintage helped preserve nuance and precision. This is a striking wine from the Rivella family. (AG)" (11/2015) K&L Notes: The Barbaresco comes from 1.5 acres of viney... Read More »
91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing power and determination, the 2009 Nebbiolo d'Alba sees a two-week maceration period and aging in traditional oak casks. The wine is full and generous with tones of dark fruit, spice, balsam herb, licorice and dried mint. The best Nebbiolo fruit goes toward Roddolo's Barolo, but the 2009 vintage saw a good crop for both the production of the higher- and lower-tier wines. (ML)" (6/2015)
Fattoria Rodano only produces 500 cases of this super Tuscan blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Sangiovese. Grapes were hand-harvested from the organically certified Viacosta vineyard which features 35-45 year old vines with a beautifully situated, south-facing amphitheater-like exposure. For a luxurious touch, the wine was aged in 60% new French barriques before bottling.
92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Giacomo Neri has produced a very approachable wine in this warm vintage. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is plump and juicy with loads of dark fruit and mild spice at the back. It doesn't have the depth or complexity of the gorgeous 2010 vintage, but the wine does a very good job presenting the main traits you look for in Brunello. The fruit is lively and the acidity gives the wine a sense of buoyancy and brightness. The tannins are very well integrated. It doesn't reach Brunello greatness, but it is a good Brunello. (10/2015) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Barbera d'Alba Bricco dei Merli is a dark and generous wine that is loaded tight with bright fruit flavors. The Cogno family describes it as having the exuberance of the 2011 vintage and the elegance of 2012. 94 points Vinous: "Fèlsina's 2012 Maestro Raro (Cabernet Sauvignon) is a real head-turner, although it is also an infant and in need of considerable cellaring. A bold, dark wine, the 2012 is vivid in the glass, with remarkable detail for such a big wine and exceptional overall balance. The 2012 is sweeping and dramatic in style, with plenty of that year's exotic fruit and opulence, along with plenty of sweet tobacco, rosemary, sage and cedar notes that add nuance. The 2012 needs time to fully meld together, but it is fabulous, even today. (AG)" (9/2015) 93 points James Suckling: "A traditional Super ...Read More »

Oak-driven tones of vanilla and caramel are immediately apparent, but quickly followed by candied fruit, butterscotch and orange peel. The wine follows a local winemaking philosophy that sees structure thanks to Friulano, acidity thanks to Ribolla Gialla and fragrance from the Malvasia. Edi Keber dedicates most of his effort to this one wine. Beautiful tones of yellow rose and honey segue to creamy persistence. 94 points Vinous: "Terlano's 2012 Lagrein Riserva Porphyr is darker and inkier than the Riserva. It also captures more of the blue/purplish notes that are so typical of Lagrein. As always, Terlano presents a distinctly tamed style of Lagrein, but at the same time, all of the elements are very nicely balanced. What a gorgeous wine this is. Corvina 70%, Molinara 5%, Rondinella 25%. After harvest, the grapes were loaded onto special racks where they were allowed to dry at room temperature in a ventilated room for three months. After pressing and fermentation, the wine spent two years in barrique before being bottled and allowed to age a further year before release.
93 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Best of 2016* Made with 70% Carricante and 30% Catarratto, this elegantly structured wine has enticing aromas of Mediterranean herb, fragrant yellow flower, citrus and a whiff of acacia. The fresh, savory palate shows juicy lime, ripe pear, chopped herb and mineral alongside tangy acidity. The lingering finish closes crisp and clean. (KO)" (8/2016)
Wine Enthusiast: "Here’s a cheerful Prosecco Brut (in bright green packaging) with distant aromas of stone fruit, melon, kiwi and white stone. It offers creamy foam and a soft approach on the palate followed by lively acidity." (7/2009) K&L Notes: Franceso Drusian is the third generation of his family to make wine from the Prosecco grape, but the first to make sparkling Prosecco, which he has been doing since 1986.
