2004 Roberto Voerzio Barolo Tasting Lot
Bid on this 3-bottle 2004 Roberto Voerzio Barolo Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 2004 Roberto Voerzio "Brunate" Barolo (97RP, 95VN, 95WS), 1-bottle of 2004 Roberto Voerzio "Cerequio" Barolo (97RP, 93WS, 92ST, 92VN), and 1-bottle of 2004 Roberto Voerzio "Rocche dell Annunziata Torriglione" Barolo (96RP, 96VN, 93WS). Of the 2004 Roberto Voerzio "Brunate" Barolo,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Voerzio’s 2004 Barolo Brunate captures the telltale balsamic notes of this justly famous site with gorgeous suggestions of mint, tobacco and licorice wrapped around an expressive, authoritative core of plush dark plums, prunes and black cherries. This dark, brooding Barolo finishes with big, building tannins that will require patience. A bottle of the 1997 I tasted alongside it had developed a flavor profile eerily similar to that of a 1991 Jaboulet A?n? Hermitage La Chapelle I tasted a few days prior. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (12/2007)

2007 Antinori "Tignanello" Toscana
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Antinori "Tignanello" Toscana (95RP, 95VN, 94WE, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Tignanello is ripe with promise for the future. The wine has just started its evolutionary track with aromas of blackcurrant, dried blackberry and cherry. This was a warm but balanced vintage that shows beautiful results today and exceeds my already high expectations. There is a steady thickness and determination to the wine that carries it forward. This was the last vintage made in the Tignanello winery before the structure saw a major overhaul. Given the staying power of this historic wine, I feel that this vintage will hold easily for another 20 years or more. (ML)" (10/2015)

Give it time still, if you can hold yourself back from drinking it." (04/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2005 Domenico Clerico "Percristina" Barolo (94RP, 93JS, 92WS, 91VN, 90WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Barolo Percristina is gorgeous. Mocha, dark cherries, flowers, spices and tar are some of the notes that flow from this beautifully delineated, layered Barolo. The 2005 impresses for its length, textural finesse and fabulous overall balance. Sweet red cherries, mint and flowers meld gracefully into the finish. In many years Percristina can be a very big wine, but the 2005 is much more finessed in style. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. (AG)" (04/2012)

1999 Giacomo Conterno "Monfortino" Barolo Riserva
Bid on this bottle of 1999 Giacomo Conterno "Monfortino" Barolo Riserva (98RP, 98VN, 96JG, (93-96ST)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1999 Barolo Riserva Monfortino takes things to another level, hard as that may be to believe. It is deeply expressive in its aromatics, with breathtaking nuances of roses, menthol, spices and licorice that emerge from the glass, melding seamlessly onto the palate where complex layers of dark ripe fruit captivate the taster in an endless counterpoint of aromas, flavors and sensations that are hard to fully capture with mere words. Boasting much intensity and a more full-bodied structure than the 1998, with building tannins that define the eternal finish, it is wine to taste now and over the next 6-9 months before it begins to shut down ... Anticipated maturity: 2014-2039. (AG)" (10/2006)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1999 Bruno Giacosa "Le Rocche del Falletto di Serralunga" Barolo (97VN, 96RP, 95WS). Vinous: "The 1999 Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto is a knock out. Dark red cherry, plum, incense and orange peel are all very much alive in the glass. The 1999 Rocche is rich, sensual and powerful to the core, with fabulous depth, explosive fruit and captivating intensity. Because of its greater power and richness, the tannins are nearly buried by the fruit. Here, too, the 1999 has moved on from its primary stage, but it is not mature, either. Ideally, readers should wait another few years until the 1999 Rocche enters the next stage of its life. I have had the 1999 Rocche on many occasions. It has always been expressive, profound and moving. (AG)" (08/2014)

2001 Antinori "Guado al Tasso" Bolgheri Superiore
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Antinori "Guado al Tasso" Bolgheri Superiore (96RP, 93WS, 92W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " Of the wines in this flight, the 2001 Bolgheri Guado al Tasso gave the most immediate pleasure. This wine is seductive, supple and soft thanks to its dark cherry, ripe fruit, exotic spice, cassis, grilled herb, crushed mineral and sweet chewing tobacco. The blend is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon (with smaller parts Merlot and Syrah). It shows integrity, conservation and purity. In fact, this edition of Guado al Tasso tastes a bit younger than it really is. There's nothing to not like here. The quality of fruit is forceful but pristine, and the mouthfeel is nicely layered and long in length. In the greater scheme of things, Antinori's landmark wine is slightly less complex than some of the great wines also presented at this Masterclass--but that gap is minimal. This is an impressive wine and if you have bottles in your cellar, you can count on it to award great

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Casanova di Neri "Tenuta Nuova" Brunello di Montalcino (93JS, 93RP, 92WE, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is quite a bit darker and richer than the straight Brunello. Cherries, plums, spices and French oak meld together beautifully in this silky, textured red. In 2005 the Tenuta Nuova boasts fabulous overall balance in a fairly restrained style for this bottling. Kirsch, roses and spices linger on the dark, enveloping finish. This is a terrific effort from Casanova di Neri. The Tenuta Nuova is made from vineyards in Le Cetine and Pietradonice, both located in the southern part of Montalcino. (AG)" (04/2010)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Gaja Ca'Marcanda "Camarcanda" Toscana (96RP, 95WS, 94JS, 93WE, 92ST, 91VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Bolgheri Camarcanda is an exceptional wine with a level of aromatic intensity and integrity that is impossible to exaggerate. The blend is Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, in that order of importance. The bouquet is impeccable and refined, with deep layers of Morello cherry, cassis, dried blackberry and spice that peel back in quick succession. The oak component is beautifully integrated, imparting notes of chocolate and tobacco that complete this beautiful portrait of Tuscan winemaking. Hold this bottle for a few more years. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino (96JS, 96RP, 96ST, 96VN, 94WS, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fuligni’s 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the stars of the vintage. Sweet floral notes weave through a core of expressive red fruit as the wine opens up in the glass. The 2006 shows incredible purity and finesse, most notably in its silky, polished tannins. This isn’t a blockbuster, but rather a wine that conquers through its sheer finesse. The wine spent 27 days on the skins. The volume and weight are influenced by the modern school, everything else is traditional all the way. The 2006 is the first vintage in which the percentage of French oak has been dropped to 25%, which has allowed the purity of the fruit to shine through to a degree that I have seldom, if ever, seen here. Rain during June naturally lowered yields and may partly explain why Fuligni’s 2006 is so phenomenal. Simply put, readers won’t want to miss this superb Brunello. Anticipate

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Barolo Pajana reveals incredible aromatic complexity and intensity, something this particular site isn’t always capable of. There is lovely definition to be found as this classic feeling, mid-weight Pajana opens up in the glass. Layers of ripe dark fruit, spices, flowers, licorice and minerals develop seamlessly through to the close. I am floored by the wine’s volume, depth and length. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli is a phenomenal achievement and a wine that captures not only the spirit of this classic vintage, but the true essence of an age-worthy wine like Brunello. This single vineyard Riserva is sharp, pristine and immaculate. It starts slow and shy, but then blossoms to beautiful intensity and aromatic brilliance. It delivers a very authentic and genuine read of Sangiovese with wild berry aromas followed by pressed violets, wet earth, tobacco and lightly toasted spice. The bouquet is seamless and very long in persistence. The same holds true for the mouthfeel. The wine delivers a fine and silky texture with a good dose of power and personality at the rear. 98+ (ML)" (03/2016)

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Pieve Santa Restituta (Gaja) "Rennina" Brunello di Montalcino (94RP, 90ST, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "1995 was the first vintage where Angelo Gaja had total control over the viticulture and vinification of these Brunello di Montalcinos. This wine is spectacular, and among the finest I tasted from this vintage. The 1995 Brunello di Montalcino Rennina's dense dark ruby/garnet color is followed by a superb nose of chocolate, mocha, cedar, smoke, jammy berry, cherry, and strawberry fruit. This full-bodied, sweet, ageworthy offering exhibits super-extraction as well as high tannin. Flamboyant, it will be even better with 2-3 years of cellaring, and should last for two decades. This is an exceptionally impressive Brunello from Angelo Gaja. (RP)" (08/2000)

Bid on this bottle of 2010 Fontodi "Flaccianello della Pieve" Toscana (97RP, 96VN, 96WS, 94JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I remember the thrill this wine gave me when I tasted it upon release. The 2010 Flaccianello della Pieve is a spectacular effort that has only just started its evolutionary journey. This wine has a long, long way to go and I hope to be able to check on its progress with some degree of frequency. In fact, I'm moving the drinking window up by a few years to give it more breathing room. The wine opens to a rich and masculine appearance, and there are iron-like notes that seem specific to this vintage. More mineral and granite stone add great definition. At the core of this wine is a dark and savory serving of black cherry and spice that aspire to seamless integration. The tannins are still firmly on-guard, and this wine needs more time to complete its integration and start its elegant cellar evolution. (ML)" (10/2015)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is a striking wine that shows uncompromising varietal pureness, albeit in a most concentrated and elaborate form. This is what great Sangiovese is all about. There's so much happening on the nose and the wine brings you to cherry, spice, licorice, cured meat, pressed rose and grilled meat in equal measure. No one element overpowers the next. The mouthfeel is also tight and bright with the kind of fruit intensity that promises long cellar aging. This Brunello is only at the beginning of a long road ahead. The longer the wine stays in the glass, the more it offers in terms of complexity and intensity. It, too, is quite subtle and understated. The 2008 is a gorgeous, mid-weight wine laced with sweet red cherries, flowers, spices, mint and minerals. This is a decidedly feminine, gracious Cannubi Boschis that impresses for its elegance, class and finesse. Sweet floral notes add brightness on the Pinot-like, vibrant finish. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is a deeply layered expression with bold tones of dark fruit that are softened and enhanced by spice, leather, tobacco and balsam herb. The wine is very beautiful and polished with slightly less depth and complexity compared the outstanding (100 point) vintage that precedes it. 2009 Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore (92VN, 91WS). Vinous: "Black cherries, plums, graphite, tapenade, melted road tar and game hits the palate as Romano Dal Forno's 2009 Valpolicella Superiore shows off its personality. The 2009 brings together the signature richness of a wine made from 100% dried fruit with distinctly wild, almost Syrah-like overtones. Inky and intense, with considerable tannic backbone, the 2009 is really more of a junior Amarone than a Valpolicella. Readers will want to give this super-expressive wine another few years in the cellar, but there is a lot to like, even today. (AG)" (07/2015)

2007 Elio Altare "Arborina" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Elio Altare "Arborina" Barolo (96RP, 93JS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Arborina is another stunner. The intense aromatics are a dead give-way for what is to follow, which is to say a virtual explosion of flavors. The Arborina boasts fabulous balance, intensity and raciness in a style that brings to mind the wines of Henri Jayer. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2032 ... (AG)" (02/2011)

2012 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2012 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino (95JS, 95WE, 93VN, 92RP, 92WS). Wine Enthusiast: "Forest floor, aromatic herb, dark spice and eucalyptus aromas come together with a floral twist. Bright and elegant, the palate shows succulent wild cherry, white pepper, star anise and chopped mint flavors. With its taut, fine-grained tannins and firm acidity, it needs time to unwind and fully develop. (KO)" (04/2017)

2008 Produttori del Barbaresco "Montefico" Barbaresco Riserva
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Produttori del Barbaresco "Montefico" Barbaresco Riserva (95RP, 92ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Barbaresco Riserva Montefico hits the palate with a blast of fruit intermingled with copious acidity and pure structure. Montefico shares a boundary with Ovello, and shows many of the structural elements typically associated with that side, but with more depth in its fruit, probably because of the southern exposure. The high altitude of these parcels ensures there is plenty of freshness and vibrancy. The Montefico is dazzling, but it will require considerable patience. (AG)" (10/2012)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2011 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino (96IWR, 95RP, 94VN, 93JS, 91WS). International Wine Review: "The 2011 Il Poggione is an absolutely striking Brunello. Elegant and classy with aromas of fresh red fruits, floral, minerals and touch of spice all coming together in the gorgeous wine. This displays remarkable overall balance, depth and focus with a beautiful silky texture and wonderful finesse as it leads up to the long, expansive finish. A simply incredible showing from Il Poggione in 2011. (Best 2018-2032) " (02/2016)

2010 Pieve Santa Restituta (Gaja) Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Pieve Santa Restituta (Gaja) Brunello di Montalcino. Part of the Gaja landholdings, Pieve Santa Restituta was acquired by the family in 1994 and consists of 16 hectares of white, rocky soils. Antonio Galloni says of the estate and the vintage: "For some reason, Pieve Santa Restituta doesn't seem to get much attention within the Gaja lineup, which is a shame, as it seems pretty clear the Gaja family's Montalcino estate is second only to their Piedmont properties when it comes to quality and pedigree. The Pieve Santa Restituta Brunellos are often quite flashy when they are young, but in my experience they need at least a few years in bottle to truly blossom." (Vinous, 01/2015)

2010 Val di Suga "Spuntali" Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Val di Suga "Spuntali" Brunello di Montalcino (95RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing much riper fruit characteristics, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Spuntali offers dark fruit and blackberry backed by spice, leather and tobacco. This is a profound and powerful wine that is released as a Riserva with one extra year of bottle aging after the five years you get with a Brunello annata. The results are sophisticated and deep with many layers of fruit, spice and balsam herb. The wine feels young in the mouth thanks to the tight tannins and bright acidity. These qualities should help it age throughout the years. I like this expression because it delivers loads of fruit and power at the same time. (ML)" (03/2016)
