Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1985 Flaccianello della Pieve caresses the palate with soft red fruit, dried cherries, spices, licorice and leather. This is another wine that has reached its full maturity, although in the case of the 1985 there is plenty of fruit to support at least another few years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014. 2006 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino (96JS, 96RP, 96ST, 96VN, 94WS, 93WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fuligni’s 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the stars of the vintage. Sweet floral notes weave through a core of expressive red fruit as the wine opens up in the glass. The 2006 shows incredible purity and finesse, most notably in its silky, polished tannins. This isn’t a blockbuster, but rather a wine that conquers through its sheer finesse. The wine spent 27 days on the skins. The volume and weight are influenced by the modern school, everything else is traditional all the way. The 2006 is the first vintage in which the percentage of French oak has been dropped to 25%, which has allowed the purity of the fruit to shine through to a degree that I have seldom, if ever, seen here. Rain during June naturally lowered yields and may partly explain why Fuligni’s 2006 is so phenomenal. Simply put, readers won’t want to miss this superb Brunello. Anticipate

Bid on this magnum of 2004 Gaja "Sori Tildin" Langhe (1.5L) (97RP, 95WS, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Gaja’s 2004 Sori Tildin floats on the palate. It is the most nuanced of these single-vineyard offerings, with gorgeous notes of tar, smoke, roses, violets, sweet toasted oak and earthiness that emerge from the glass in a counterpoint of sublime elegance and stunning purity. It possesses superb length and elegant, silky tannins to round out the finish. This extraordinary Sori Tildin will require at least a few years of bottle age, but it is destined to be one of the vintage’s legendary wines. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)" (10/2007)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The compelling 1997 Barbera Ris Pozzo Dell'Annunciata (only 1,350 magnums produced) may be the greatest Barbera I have ever tasted. 1997 Albino Rocca "Vigneto Brich Ronchi" Barbaresco
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1997 Albino Rocca "Vigneto Brich Ronchi" Barbaresco (97RP, 93ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a spectacular Barbaresco. It is awesomely thick, rich, and textured, with unreal opulence as well as glycerin levels that define the finest offerings from the 1997 vintage. Albino Rocca hit the bull's eye in 1997. Awesome, the 1997 Barbaresco Vigneto Brich Ronchi is a tour de force in winemaking. Its dark plum/ruby color is accompanied by explosive blackberry/cherry fruit aromas. In the mouth, its viscous texture, low acidity, and overripe Nebbiolo characteristics provide remarkable intensity, and extraordinary flavor richness with notes of blackberries, cherries, coffee, smoke, licorice, and earth. The finish lasts for nearly 45 seconds. (RP)" (06/2001)

Classic notes of tobacco, dried cherries, spices, leather and underbrush all emerge from this sweet, layered offering. This richly textured generous Tignanello has put on significant weight in bottle and shows remarkable overall balance. In 1999 Tignanello comes across as more complete than Solaia. Lush and sexy, with medium to full body, an alluring texture, low acidity, and an evolved, complex style. (RP)" (08/1999)

1978 Bruno Giacosa "Le Rocche di Castiglione Falletto" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 1978 Bruno Giacosa "Le Rocche di Castiglione Falletto" Barolo (96VN). Vinous: "1978 is one of the all-time legendary Barolo vintages. An irregular flowering resulted in the plants carrying very little fruit that year. The grapes were thick-skinned and yielded massively tannic wines, many of which are still quite youthful today. It was also a defining vintage for Bruno Giacosa, who released a number of extraordinary wines, three of which we tasted. This bottle of the 1978 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione was the finest I have ever had. Many tasters actually preferred it to the Red Label Riservas from the same vintage that followed, perhaps because it is the closest of these 1978 Barolos to being ready to drink. It showed the open, generous aromatics that are typical of the Rocche vineyard along with beautifully delineated layers of fruit that provided much enjoyment. The Rocche di Castiglione has always been the most accessible of Giacosa’s 1978 Barolos and we were for

1970 Giacomo Conterno "Monfortino" Barolo Riserva
Bid on this bottle of 1970 Giacomo Conterno "Monfortino" Barolo Riserva (100VN, 94JG). Vinous: "The 1970 Monfortino is spectacular from the moment it is opened. Superb. This is the only wine in our tasting made from purchased fruit in the pre-Cascina Francia days. Savory, perfumed and delicate, the 1970 is the quintessential iron fist in a velvet glove. At 44 years of age, the 1970 shows itself to be one of the greatest Monfortinos ever made. In a word: breathtaking. (AG)" (05/2014)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1996 Albino Rocca "Vigneto Loreto" Barbaresco (93ST, 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red. Burgundian, fruit driven aromas of plum, redcurrant and nutty oak, plus a whiff of tar. Thick, sweet and lush, with notes of marzipan and grilled nuts. Harmonious already thanks to its strong extract. Very rich and long, with strong fruit outlasting big, ripe tannins. A superb showing. (ST)" (11/1998)

1996 Luigi Einaudi Barolo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1996 Luigi Einaudi Barolo (90RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The backward 1996 Barolo offers a classic bouquet of licorice, tar, and black cherries. It is extremely powerful, large-scaled, and full-bodied, yet austere, seriously endowed, and aggressively tannic. Cellaring should smooth it out, but it is an old-styled powerhouse. (RP)" (08/1999)

1999 Moccagatta "Cole" Barbaresco
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Moccagatta "Cole" Barbaresco (93VN, 90ST, 90WS). Vinous: "A dark, brooding beauty, Moccagatta's 1999 Barbaresco Cole races across the palate with waves of dark fruit, smoke, licorice, tar, crushed rocks and menthol. At age thirteen, the 1999 isn't especially accessible, but will it ever be? Even with its incisive, powerful tannins, the Cole is the best balanced of this trio of 1999 Barbarescos from Moccagatta. Only the first signs of early maturity are present today. (AG)" (08/2014)
