2001 Bruno Giacosa "Le Rocche del Falletto di Serralunga" Barolo Riserva
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Bruno Giacosa "Le Rocche del Falletto di Serralunga" Barolo Riserva (97RP, 97WS, 96ST). Wine Spectator: "This is a beautiful, seductive wine with power yet great finesse. It's full-bodied, with a massive silky mouthfeel and lovely raspberry and strawberry character. It's very, very long. All in harmony. Giacosa is a master. Not the 100-point 2000, but stupendous just the same. Best after 2009. (JS)" (10/2005)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2003 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri (96W&S, 93RP, 93VN, 92WS, 91WE). Wine & Spirits: "Great terroirs often prove themselves in the most extreme vintages, as Sassicaia has done in the violent heat of 2003. The vineyard produced a supple, subtle and elegant wine. To describe the fruit character one might resort to analogies with black currant and smoky black tea, but it's more a textural experience for now, a mass of pleasure, hard to grasp. Its oak treatment delivers the kind of heady richness found in young Latour; its soil character provides a completely different context, though no less grand. Probably best starting at ten to fifteen years of age, this is balanced to develop for years after that." (04/2007)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri (OWC - 97ST, 97WE, 94JS, 94WS, 93RP) in original wood. Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby-red. Captivatingly intense yet refined aromas of ripe red cherry, mint, smoke and black truffle, complicated by lovely mineral and floral elements. Ripe, rich and velvety on entry, then concentrated in the middle, with flavors of red cherry, cassis, spices, bay leaf, dark chocolate and espresso. Amazingly well balanced and fresh wine, with sound, bright acids supplying wonderful lift and precision and smooth, noble tannins adding considerable power and grace. The finish goes on for minutes, highlighted by an enchanting floral-mineral quality; in my experience, the appearance of this strong floral component (in the absence of herbal or peppery aromas and flavors more typical of lesser vintages) at this early stage of development is typical of the greatest versions of Sassicaia. One of the top dozen Sassic

2001 Biondi Santi (Tenuta Greppo) Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Biondi Santi (Tenuta Greppo) Brunello di Montalcino. Traditional values are strictly followed at the Greppo estate, where the Biondi Santi family is still involved, and have been for more than a century, in the high quality production of a wine that was created, raised and made outstanding here. Haunting, as only a top-nothc Brunello can be, this 2001 shows an harmonious, well structured, and warm palate with a pretty much perfect balance between tannins and acidity. The nose is all withered roses, and the finish sings of balsam and blue fruits. Outstanding today, this will last in your cellar for a decade at least.

1987 Biondi Santi (Tenuta Greppo) Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1987 Biondi Santi (Tenuta Greppo) Brunello di Montalcino Riserva. Monica Larner updates on the state of Biondi Santi in 2014: "Perhaps the most iconic image in Montalcino is that of the lanky Franco Biondi Santi walking, cane in hand, down the cypress-lined drive that leads to his beloved Il Greppo estate. It's painful to think he no longer exists in that tight corridor of shade between the trees. The Brunello pioneer died in April 2013, at 92 years of age. Today, the imposing figure who greets you past the tree line belongs to his son, Jacopo Biondi Santi. The legacy of this estate and the guardianship of Montalcino-s most prized wine tradition now rests squarely on his shoulders. "I'm not afraid to say it," Jacopo confides: "I'm daunted by the enormity of this responsibility.""

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Casanova di Neri "Tenuta Nuova" Brunello di Montalcino (100JS, 97WE, 95RP, 95VN, 95WS). James Suckling: "So much ripe fruit here with currants and sultanas, yet fresh and very clean. Dark berries too. Incredible ripe Sangiovese character. Full body, with masses of fruit and chewy tan nins. Plus, there’s black licorice and dried berries. Give it time to soften. What a bottle. Will it ultimately be better than 2001 Tenuta Nuova? Yes. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Il Poggione "Vigna Paganelli" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (97RP, 96WE, 94ST, 92WS, 91JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli is huge, powerful and totally implosive. The seductive allure of the 2007 is nowhere to be found. Instead, the 2006 is built on a serious spine of formidable tannin and dark red/black fruit. Hints of tar, licorice, rose petals and tobacco inform the powerful, virile finish. The 2006 is going to require considerable patience, but it is clearly a jewel of a wine, even at this early stage. (AG)" (04/2012)

2007 Felsina "Fontalloro" Toscana
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Felsina "Fontalloro" Toscana (96ST, 93RP, 92WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full red with a palish rim. Pure, superripe aromas of red cherry, violet, iodine and nutmeg. Superrich, highly concentrated and seamless, with densely packed flavors of raspberry, dark plum and marzipan. Finishes creamy-rich and explosively long, with a pretty violet note. This was so good I really had trouble letting the glass go. It's also the only time I can remember Fontalloro outclassing Rancia (of which I am a huge fan) by such a wide margin, something I had noticed even when tasting barrel samples of these two wines in the estate's cellar two years ago. I'd wait a good five years on this one, then enjoy it for another two decades. Proof positive that Sangiovese is one of the world's great grape varieties. (ID)" (08/2010)

Then juicy, intense and sharply delineated, with lovely lift to the flavors of dark berries, minerals and cedar. 2006 Felsina "Rancia" Chianti Classico Riserva
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Felsina "Rancia" Chianti Classico Riserva (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is another of the truly great wines in this tasting. It is most similar in style to the 2001 for its power, but also has some of the aromatic finesse and complexity of the 2004. Layers of fruit build to the explosive, huge finish. Today the 2006 is big, implosive and tightly wound, but it will be absolutely gorgeous in another few years. Actually, it already is. Since its release a few years ago, the 2006 has continued to move towards a more refined expression of Sangiovese while maintaining all of the structure it showed as a young wine. Sensual, layered and totally voluptuous in the glass, the 2007 shows the more flamboyant side of Barolo. I find the wine’s voluptuous, engaging personality impossible to resist. 2009 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2009 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo (1.5L) (96RP, 95JS, 95VN, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Because Monfortino was not produced this vintage, the 2009 Barolo Cascina Francia benefits from the extra fruit that would have otherwise gone toward the world's most celebrated Barolo Riserva. I tasted the 2009 Barolo Cascina Francia in barrel two years ago and am delighted by its steady evolution. This is a wine of sophisticated intensity and persuasion. The bouquet peels back to reveal dark fruit, licorice, tar and dried rose. The vintage was warm, resulting in extra plumpness and roundness in terms of mouthfeel. The style is slightly more immediate, but this is a great aging wine nonetheless. (ML)" (06/2015)

2007 Elio Altare Brunate Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Elio Altare Brunate Barolo (97RP, 95JS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Altare’s 2007 Barolo Brunate is dark and sensual in its plums, wild cherries, menthol and minerals. The French oak is decidedly more pronounced in the Brunate than some of the other wines in this lineup, so additional cellaring is a must. Still, it is impossible to miss the substance, purity and sheer greatness of what is in the glass. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2032. (AG)" (02/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2000 Tenuta San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri (95ST, 93JS, 93VN, 93WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep, bright red-ruby. Aromas of ripe red cherry, dark plum and kirsch are complicated by sexy woodsmoke, eucalyptus and bay leaf. Silky and rather lush, with considerable sweetness and creaminess to its ripe, sweet flavours of cassis, blackberry jelly and ripe black plum. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and lingering notes of minerals, herbs, dried flowers and smoke. Displays lovely balance and good length on the rich, seamless, creamy-ripe finish, which exhibits a lingering menthol note that reminded me of a Napa cabernet. The 2000 vintage was a warm one, especially in August, with some varieties such as merlot reaching high sugar levels before full polyphenolic maturity was achieved. However, the combination of a cooler microclimate and old cabernet vines allowed Tenuta San Guido to make a better wine than many on the Tuscan Coast this

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Felsina "Rancia" Chianti Classico Riserva (96RP, 92ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is another dazzling wine. This is a vintage of overt, sumptuous fruit and pure sexiness. Despite its richness, the 2007 never loses its sense of structure, but in this vintage the tannins are nearly buried by the huge fruit. Today the 2007 comes across as a hypothetical blend of the 2004 and 2006, with the finesse of the former and the size of the latter. Not a bad combination, to put it mildly. In the glass the wine is alive, vibrant and totally captivating. (AG)" (06/2012)
