2001 Paolo Scavino "Bric dël Fiasc" Barolo
Bid on this bottle of 2001 Paolo Scavino "Bric dël Fiasc" Barolo (96RP, 95WS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is a gorgeous wine laced with smoke, tar, licorice and menthol. The 2001 remains powerful and authoritative, with more than enough fruit to balance its huge tannins. Today it comes across as almost impenetrably young. There is plenty of upside to cellaring this fabulous Barolo. (AG)" (04/2012)

This has amazing opulence, yet it's profound and structured. A fabulous wine. The best Sperss ever made. (JS)" (12/2007)

Of the 2006 Brovia "Rocche" Barolo,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Usually rather open and expressive, in 2006 the Barolo Rocche has the makings of a long-distance runner. From time to time its perfumed red fruit makes an appearance yet this remains a powerful, inward Rocche in need of significant cellaring. There is plenty of muscle in the glass, in fact the wine continues to gain weight with air. Sweet roses and tar have the last word on the magnificent, perfumed finish. The Rocche has become marvelously expressive since I tasted it last year. (AG)" (12/2010)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2007 Antoniolo Osso San Grato Gattinara (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Gattinara Osso San Grato is a thrilling Gattinara. It is one of the very best Gattinaras I have ever come across. The 2007 combines the freshness and drive of the San Francesco with the inner perfume, guile and pliancy of the Castelle. Expressive red cherries, flowers, rosemary, mint and minerals wrap around the silky, totally satisfying finish. Fond memories of the 1990 linger on my mind. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2027. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Isole e Olena "Cepparello" Toscana (96VN, 93ST). Vinous: "The 2006 Cepparello is a super classic wine. It brings together the best elements of the house style in its breathtaking aromatics, delineated fruit and striking overall balance. All of the elements are in the right place for the 2006 to develop into a spectacular wine. The 2006 stands apart for its nuance, depth and overall detail. Juicy red cherries, raspberries, rose petals and licorice build to the huge, dramatic finish. The 2006 is one of the all-time great Cepparellos. It bears more than a passing resemblance to the stunning 1988. The 2006 has blossomed beautifully in bottle over the last few years, and it is now clear I underestimated its potential. (AG)"

2004 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino (95RP, 93ST, 92WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is awesome. This finessed, regal Brunello flows onto the palate with seamless layers of perfumed fruit framed by silky, finessed tannins. The wine remains extremely primary at this stage, and its full range of aromas and flavors have yet to emerge, but the sheer pedigree of this Brunello is unmistakable. The elegant, refined finish lasts an eternity, and subtle notes of menthol, spices, licorice and leather add final notes of complexity. The estate's 2004 Brunello is a wine to buy and bury in the deepest corner of the cellar. Brunello is never inexpensive, but this is the real deal, and in relative terms, it is one of the world's great values in fine, cellar worthy wine. Incredibly, there are 18,000+ cases of the 2004 Brunello, so it should be fairly easy to source in various markets. The Brunello is made from four vineyards rangi

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Elio Altare Barolo (94RP, 93WS, 92JS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo is simply breathtaking. A bouquet that recalls Pinot Noir melds into pure Nebbiolo fruit as this captivating, sensual Barolo reveals off its pedigree. This shows remarkable detail, nuance and sheer clarity, with gorgeous depth and a radiant, totally engaging personality. Most of the attention here is generally focused on the single-vineyard wines, but readers should not look past the straight Barolo, a wine that has built an extraordinary track record for developing beautifully in bottle. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Le Vigne presents a beguiling combination of explosive, ripe fruit and finessed silky tannins that make it a thrilling wine to taste, even at this stage in its development. Small red berries, minerals, crushed flowers, vanillin and sweet spices are woven together in a fabric of undescribable elegance. The French oak has never been better balanced, while the vibrant, crystalline finish leaves a lasting impression. The 2007 Le Vigne has all the potential to develop into a spectacular wine--actually, it already is. This is a totally stunning bottle of Barolo. (AG)" (02/2011)

1985 San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri
Bid on this bottle of 1985 San Guido "Sassicaia" Bolgheri (100RP, 99WS, 98VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " ... In truth, the 1985 Sassicaia does reveal a new perspective onto its perfection each time you have the fortune to taste it. I noticed a layer of bright almond-like sweetness that I don't recall tasting before. The wine seems to be getting younger, not older. Even its appearance is remarkable. Of the various samples presented from the 1980s, this wine exhibited the brightest garnet color and the most youthful personality. It shows stunning volume. The integration is seamless and the wine's many complicated pieces fit together with utmost precision like a jigsaw puzzle that renders a most beautiful Italian masterpiece when admired at completion. 2007 Castello di Neive "Santo Stefano" Barbaresco
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Castello di Neive "Santo Stefano" Barbaresco (95RP, 94WE). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barbaresco Albesani Santo Stefano shows the weight and richness that is typical of this south-facing site in Neive. A rich fabric of dark fruit, fresh roses, new leather and menthol completely cover the palate. The Santo Stefano is impeccable in its generous, enveloping fruit. The intensity and sheer depth of the fruit manages to virtually bury the tannins, but they are there. As delicious as this is today, it will be even better in a few years- time. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027. Castello di Neive, one of the historic producers in Barbaresco, seems to fly under the radar, but the best of the wines are well worth discovering and offer terrific quality for the money. 2003 Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (94RP, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pepe’s 2003 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a bomb. Tar, leather, scorched earth and black fruit emerge from this dark, imposing Montepulciano. The wine comes together beautifully in the glass, as the aromas and flavors gain breadth and dimension. Despite the rich style, there is nothing excessive or over-ripe here, just exceptional balance of ripe fruit as captured by a traditional approach to vinification. A final blast of tar informs the long finish. Pepe fans will flip over the 2003, but readers who prefer subtlety over power will want to cellar this for a few years to allow for some of the baby fat to melt away. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2028. Emidio Pepe is one of Abruzzo’s reference-point producers. These traditionally made wines can show some rough edges when they are young, but they rarely disappoint when given an opportunity to mature in the cellar. (AG)" (06/2010)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Rocche dei Manzoni "Vigna d'la Roul" Barolo (95RP, 92WS, 91ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2001 Barolo Vigna d'la Roul is the most classic of these 2001 Barolos. It reveals phenomenal balance in its layers of dark cherries, violets, tar, new leather, sweet toasted oak and mentholated, balsamic overtones that develop in the glass. This massively structured, large-scaled Barolo reveals an unusual amount of detail for such a big wine. It will require considerable patience, but will offer much pleasure to those who can wait. Vigna d'la Roul is the oldest of the family's holdings and was the principal component of many of the estate's legendary wines, including the 1978 Valentino Riserva. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2026. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2003 Feudi di San Gregorio "Serpico" Irpinia (92RP, 91WE, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 is a fascinating Serpico. The wine boasts impressive concentration in its dark, rich fruit. This is an incredibly primary Serpico, with little in the way of tertiary development. Ideally, it is best left alone for another few years, but readers fortunate enough to own this are in for a thrilling ride once the wine opens up a bit. 2007 Paolo Conterno "Ginestra" Barolo Riserva
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Paolo Conterno "Ginestra" Barolo Riserva (96RP, 93VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Barolo Riserva Ginestra is born in extremely difficult conditions. Fruit is sourced from a hillside plot with impossibly steep inclines and shallow soils (with white tufo and clay) for limited root penetration. These factors help curb the natural vigor of the grapevine and result in high quality fruit. This wine sees a long maceration period (up to 40 days) and almost six years of barrel aging in botte grande. The results are spectacular with rich floral and menthol aromas folded within the wine’s silky texture. This 2007 Riserva feels much younger than it really is. Drink: 2016-2035. (ML)" (06/2014)

Bid on this bottle of 1997 Biondi Santi (Tenuta Greppo) Brunello di Montalcino (93ST, 93WE). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Intense ruby overlaid with garnet. Very fresh aromas of ripe plum, cherry and pipe tobacco. Sweet cherry fruit emerges in the mouth, along with hints of licorice, mint, sage and white pepper. A high-toned, vibrant, elegant wine, displaying a lovely sense of balance and delineation. The texture is glossy and the tannins are full but polished. His comment makes perfect sense and offers incredible insight into the profound beauty beholden before us. You almost feel the crunch of the young tannin and the snap of its presence in the mouth. The bouquet is perfectly matched to the wine. Elegance and finesse add contrast to the wine’s sheer power and determination. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2004 Terredora di Paolo "Pago dei Fusi" Taurasi DOCG (95RP, 91WS, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Taurasi Pago dei Fusi is a single-vineyard wine that has previously not been available in the US. Hopefully that will change, as this is a rock-star wine. The Pago dei Fusi shows a touch more depth and inner sweetness than the regular bottling, but without abandoning what is essentially a classic style. Dark cherries, plums, tobacco, licorice and incense are woven together in a fabric of superb richness. The finish is long, precise and exceptionally pure, with crystalline, mineral notes that add freshness. The Riserva shows a touch more inner sweetness, richness and depth in its fruit than the regular bottling, plus a bit more French oak as well. The wine has just started its evolutionary track with aromas of blackcurrant, dried blackberry and cherry. This was a warm but balanced vintage that shows beautiful results today and exceeds my already high expectations. There is a steady thickness and determination to the wine that carries it forward. This was the last vintage made in the Tignanello winery before the structure saw a major overhaul. 2006 Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino (97JS, 96RP, 95WS, 94WE, 91ST). James Suckling: "Giancarlo Pacenti has been making superb Brunello di Montalcinos for decades at his family estate, Siro Pacenti. He is one of the leaders of his generation in advocating modern viticulture and precision winemaking...I can't believe how the nose changes from white truffle to berry and black cherry and then goes blueberries and citrus fruits. Full and soft and velvety. It is layered and massive with so much going on. Now sweet tobacco and berries. A wine that is in evolution every moment. " (01/2011)

2007 Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino Toscana
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino Toscana (94RP, 93JS, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino wraps around the palate with dark red fruit, licorice, anise and sweet herbs. Silky tannins frame the fruit as the wine shows off its breadth and volume. This is a very representative 2007 Brunello with generous fruit and an open, accessible personality. I don’t see the 2007 being a super long-term ager, but I doubt that will be much of an issue considering how delicious the wine is today. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027. (AG)" (04/2012)

2010 Gaja Ca' Marcanda "Magari" Toscana
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2010 Gaja Ca' Marcanda "Magari" Toscana (94RP, 92JS, 90VN, 90WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing spectacular traits of the vintage, the 2010 Magari (50% Merlot and 25% each Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc) is a dark and modern wine with a thick fabric of dark fruit, blackberry preserves, spice and tobacco woven tightly together. The mouthfeel is exceedingly plush and there’s a sweet oak note of toasted almond or Spanish cedar on the close. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2026. (ML)" (08/2013)

1997 Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino
Bid on this bottle of 1997 Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino (97VN, 94WS, 92W&S, 92WE). Vinous: "Very dark garnet with saturated purple hues. Penetrating aromas of underbrush, sweet tobacco and wild mushroom. Quite juicy, but also sumptuous and deep, with rich flavors of mocha, espresso and anise over a firm mineral backbone. There is no evidence of excess weight in spite of the wine generous structure. The long close features glossy tannins and a flavor of cassis. At once powerful and elegant. Among the largest producers in Montalcino, Castello Banfi is arguably the one making the best Brunellos today, with a remarkable string of successes since 1990. (EB)" (07/2002)
