1995 Calon-Ségur, St-Estèphe

97 points James Suckling: "I always loved this wine from the first time I tasted it in 1998. It has such purity and power yet it's reserved and beautiful. It's one of the best Calons ever. I drank a bottle with some friends in Manhattan last week and it was the wine of the evening. It was full-bodied with silky tannins and a focused and intense finish. Lots of currant and berry character and hints of dried spices. It's finally opening up and giving real pleasure now like so many 1995 Bordeaux at the moment." (6/2016) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Incredible nose of crushed berries, flowers, spices and nuts. Full ...Read More »

1995 d'Yquem, Sauternes

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Served from an ex-chateau bottle. The 1995 Chateau d’Yquem is moving into its secondary aroma phase. A deep golden color, it has a dense and almost Barsac-like bouquet with tangerine, apricot, acacia and melted candle wax. It displays good intensity, unfolding beautifully in the glass. The palate has a strident opening, with a slight bitter edge that lends this Yquem great tension. One can discern layers of marmalade infused with honey fruit, with a powerful, spicy finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is drinking perfectly now, but will surely age ...Read More »

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1994-1996 d'Yquem, Sauternes Vertical, including 1-bottle of 1994 d'Yquem, Sauternes, 1-bottle of 1995 d'Yquem, Sauternes (95RP), and 1-bottle of 1996 d'Yquem, Sauternes (96WS, 95RP). Of the 1996 d'Yquem, Sauternes,Wine Spectator writes: "This leans toward the tropical side, with mango and guava notes out front, while maple, date, blood orange and citrus oil flavors fill in behind. The finish kicks into another gear, taking off with honeysuckle, orange blossom and frangipane accents. Has almost unbridled power today, while maintaining serious cut. A very impressive showing in a rather overlooked vintage. (JM, Web Only-2014)"

1995 Clos du Marquis, St-Julien (375ml)

93 points Wine Spectator: "Wonderfully perfumed, with violets, flowers, fruit and cedar. Full-bodied, with loads of fruit and a powerful structure. Powerful and reserved. (Web Only—2007)" 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I have indicated numerous times in this journal, the second wine of Las Cases, Clos du Marquis, is one of the finest second wines being made in Bordeaux. Over recent years, it has become a wine of classified growth quality. The 1996 may turn out to be even better than the outstanding 1995. Both are exceptional wines, with the 1996 slightly thicker and more viscous, with more noticeable new oak, ...Read More »

1995 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac

93 points James Suckling: "This is surprisingly delicate and fine now with currant and spice character and hints nuts. It is full body with refined texture and a beautiful finish. No reason to wait on this red. It's ready to drink." (6/2016) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A stylish, elegant, more restrained style of Pichon Baron, with less obvious new oak than usual, this deep ruby/purple-colored wine offers a pure black currant-scented nose with subtle aromas of coffee and smoky toasty oak. In the mouth, the wine displays less weight and muscle than the 1996, but it offers suave, elegant, rich fruit presented in ...Read More »

1995 Grand Mayne, St-Emilion

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An unqualified sleeper of the vintage, the opaque purple-colored 1995 Grand-Mayne displays a sweet, creamy, black raspberry-scented nose with subtle notes of smoky, toasty oak. Both powerful and elegant, this wine exhibits layers of richness, nicely integrated acidity and tannin, and an impressive full-bodied, long finish. This offering should be drinkable early, and keep for over a decade. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2013. -RP" (2/1998) 90 points Wine Spectator: "In-your-face aromas of toasted oak, ripe berries and chocolate. Full-bodied, with loads of ripe fruit and a long, smoke a ...Read More »

1995 Ferrière, Margaux Back In Stock!
1995 Ferrière, Margaux

94 points Wine Spectator: "What? Who? This is rich and powerful with masses of fruit, character and tannins. One of the sleepers of the vintage. Long, long finish." (1/1998) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "If it were not for the 1996, the 1995 would be the best Ferriere I have ever tasted. The wine exhibits an impressively saturated ruby/purple color, and an attractive nose of sweet toasty oak, licorice, and jammy black fruits. In the mouth, the attack begins well, with good ripeness, purity, and fruit, but it narrows out with an uninspiring mid-palate, and gobs of tannin in an astringent, tough-textured finish. 1995 Rieussec, Sauternes Back In Stock!
1995 Rieussec, Sauternes

For several generations, Château Rieussec has been a leading name in Sauternes wines. As early as 1868, Charles Cocks remarked that "beyond any of the others, Rieussec produces wines that are very similar to Yquem wines." Today, it is Wine Advocate singing its praises: "It is safe to say that Château Rieussac has both feet firmly cemented within the highest echelon of the Sauternes hierarchy, tucked neatly just behind Château d'Yquem. A brief glance at my notes illustrates how this wine delivers year after year, a consistency that has sealed its reputati... Read More »

1995 Calon-Ségur, St-Estèphe (1.5L)

96 points Wine Spectator: "Greatest Calon-Ségur ever made. An absolutely amazing red, this third-growth Bordeaux is remarkable for its layers of berry, violets and perfume. It's full-bodied and very velvety on the palate, with masses of character and an ultralong finish. Best after 2004." 92+ Robert Parker: "The 1995 may be the most impressive Calon-Ségur since 1988. The deep, healthy dark ruby/purple color is followed by a nose without any of the kinky, earthy, musty barrel smells that often afflict Calon-Ségur. Although backward, the wine reveals terr... 1995 La Tour Haut Brion, Graves Back In Stock!
1995 La Tour Haut Brion, Graves

94 points Robert Parker: "The 1955 (tasted in 1990), while not having quite the blockbuster bouquet of its sibling--the 1955 La Mission--is still an enormously concentrated, chewy, old-style Graves that should continue to last for a minimum of two more decades. It is a shame that La Tour-Haut-Brion is no longer made in this style, but shrewd buyers at auctions are well advised to seek out top vintages of old La Tour-Haut-Brions that may show up from time to time."
