2008 Saint-Pierre, St-Julien

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I predicted from barrel, this stunning effort is a wine to buy by the case. Its opaque ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of graphite, barbecue smoke, blackberries and black currants. The full-bodied, textured 2008 Saint-Pierre reveals a skyscraper-like mouthfeel along with tremendous viscosity and unctuosity. One of the richest and potentially longest-lived 2008s, it is a fabulous sleeper of the vintage. Drink it over the next 20+ years. (RP)" (5/2011) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "At 40 acres, Saint-Pierre is small for the Médoc, but it is certainly performing well. As fine a ...Read More »

2008 Providence, Pomerol

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A brilliant effort for the vintage, this muscular, dense purple-colored, powerful, rich 2008 offers notes of graphite, truffles, black cherries and blackberries along with moderately high tannins, full-bodied richness, impressive purity and a multidimensional mouthfeel. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and enjoy it over the next two decades. It should prove to be one of the longer lived wines of the vintage. (RP)" (5/2011) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A rounded, concentrated wine, rich and initially soft. Chocolate and ripe plum flavors give a superripe and spicy wine. As with many of t ...Read More »

2008 Gloria, St-Julien

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A stunning sleeper of the vintage, this beautiful, already irresistible, plum/garnet-colored 2008 is a wine to purchase by the case. It possesses a dense plum/purple color, a glorious perfume of Christmas fruitcake, cedarwood, black currants, jammy cherries and licorice, medium to full body and a silky personality. It will provide both a hedonistic and intellectual turn-on over the next 10-15 years. (RP)" (4/2011) Wine Spectator: "This polished red shows good grip from the ripe, well-integrated tannins, which support plum, currant, loam and tobacco flavors. Not heavy, but ...Read More »

2008 L'Eglise-Clinet, Pomerol

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A remarkable wine in this vintage, L’Eglise Clinet’s 2008 has a color almost as dark as the barrel sample of 2010. Classic mocha and caramel-infused creme de cassis and black cherry notes, with hints of licorice and loamy soil soar from the glass of this opaque ruby/purple, aromatically compelling wine. Opulent, expansive, and savory, with a broad texture, a full-bodied mouthfeel, terrific purity and a layered finish, this is another big, massive wine that transcends the vintage character, and will probably need 7-10 years of bottle age. It should keep f ...Read More »

2008 de Fieuzal, Pessac-Léognan

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A big time sleeper of the vintage and a terrific success for Fieuzal, the 2008 is a wine to buy given its realistic price. Dense plum/purple-colored with a soaring bouquet of blue and black fruits, unsmoked cigar tobacco, lead pencil shavings and spring flowers, it is a suave, savory, medium to full-bodied, remarkably silky, appealing wine to enjoy over the next 12-15 years. Bravo! (RP)" (5/2011) 90 points James Suckling: "A chewy young red, with plum and vanilla aromas and flavors. Full and juicy yet tight and rich. Give it a few years to soften. Best after 2012." (12/2010) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright re ...Read More »

2008 La Violette, Pomerol

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fashioned from yields of 18 hectoliters per hectare with 13.5% natural alcohol, the opaque ruby-hued 2008 exhibits tell-tale floral notes intertwined with raspberries, sweet black cherries, licorice and cassis. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and strikingly pure as well as multilayered, the 2008, despite its precociousness, will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for 20-25 years. It is one of the top successes of the vintage. (RP)" (5/2011) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Superripe aromas of blackberry and licorice. Fat, lush and sweet, with excell ...Read More »

2008 Belair-Monange, St-Emilion

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The first substantial and reassuringly great Belair-Monange in many decades, the 2008 represents the epitome of elegance and minerality. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by sweet red and black fruits intermixed with notes of spring flowers and crushed rocks, a layered mouthfeel, superb nobility and remarkable intensity offered in a finesse-filled format. Kudos to Edmond and Christian Moueix for their resurrection of this iconic 6.2 acre vineyard." (5/2011) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red-ruby. Fresh, mineral-driven aromas of bitter cherry, redcurrant, flowers and ros ...Read More »

2008 Lafleur, Pomerol 6-pack in OWC

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Lafleur is a wine to buy from this very under-rated vintage. A blend of 54% Cabernet Franc and 46% Merlot, the wine has a similar color to the 2010, only less purple. With a beautiful nose of boysenberry , black cherry, damp earth and truffle-like notes in what is clearly a classic style, it is built in a masculine, full-bodied manner along the lines of the 1988 or perhaps 1996. This wine needs a good 5-7 years of cellaring and should keep 30 years. It is certainly one of the most backward 2008s from Pomerol." (5/2011) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, moderately saturated ...Read More »
