2006 Cain "Five" Spring Mountain District Bordeaux Blend

Jancis Robinson: "Dark purplish crimson. Appealing juicy fruit with a little overlay of walnuts on the nose. Some personality and a fruity core. Quite dusty and full blooded with slightly rustic tannins. Distinctive! I like the fact that the winemaker has not been afraid of tannin. Quite burly rather than super smooth. Out of the mould – so therefore mountain fruit..? I just wonder whether the fruit won’t fade a little bit too early for the tannins? Dry finish. But this is serious artisanal wine. (JR)" (3/2010) K&L Notes: The 2006 Cain Five is a warm, plump, plush wine. It has a nice ... Read More »

2006 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (95CG, 94RP, 94WE, 94WS, 92JS, 92VN). Connoisseurs Guide: " *Three Stars* Already amazingly seductive with wonderfully rich aromas of sweet oak, cocoa and fully expressed fruit making a first-rate introduction, this riveting young wine in no way lets up on the palate and delivers deep, multi-faceted flavors that combine ripeness, sweet oak and very precise fruit in near-perfect proportion. As is often the case with Insignia bottlings, it is so beautifully balanced that it invites early drinking, and, while we do not condemn giving in to its charms, we also would lobby strongly for patience as its best years lie down the line." 2006 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

93 points James Suckling: "I for one prefer the 2006 Opus to the 2007. I really appreciate the silky, refined, and aromatic quality of this wine. It’s full yet balanced with blueberry, currants, and spices on the finish. Racy is a word that comes to mind." (3/2012) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 comes across as a bigger, more structured wine than the 2007. The tannins are bolder, more dramatic, and more present. The wine displays impressive depth, not the velvety elegance of the 2007, but is a more muscular wine that begs for 2-3 years of cellaring and should drink well for 20-25 years. 93+ points. 2006 Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The soft, round 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa possesses good berry fruit, seductive tannins, and minimal depth. It represents a very fine glass of Cabernet for enjoying over the next 6-7 years. (RP)" (12/2008) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red-ruby. Black fruits, licorice and exotic spices on the somewhat medicinal, uncompromising nose. Then sweeter in the mouth than the nose suggests, with dark berry, licorice and mint flavors joined by tobacco and graphite. Not complex but finishes with good lift and length-and not at all cooked. (ST)" (6/2009)

2006 Chateau Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points James Suckling: "This has a leafy currant, mint, and raspberry nose. Complex and very pretty. Full bodied and very firm, with super fine tannins and a long, long finish. This is subtle and complex, but needs another three years." (2/2011) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby-red. Blackberry, cassis and boysenberry aromas complemented by licorice, violet, menthol and bitter chocolate. Juicy, intensely flavored and quite fresh but a bit youthfully disjointed, with a firm tannin/acid spine supporting the crushed dark berry and menthol flavors. The wine's substantial tannins will need time to knit, bu ...Read More »

2006 Merryvale "Profile" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend Back In Stock!
2006 Merryvale "Profile" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Profile has been an important, but sometimes overlooked, member of the Napa Valley pantheon for many years, and their ’06 shows why. It’s a rich, complex and smooth wine. Packed with blackberry, cassis and smoky, new oak flavors, it shows a firm structure of tannins and acidity. Beautiful now with a grilled steak, and should age well for at least a decade." (12/2009) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Profile (82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) is a beauty. The sweet, ripe tannins nicely frame this large-scaled, full-bodied wine. Its o ...Read More »

Of the 2006 Bond "Pluribus" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend,Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Saturated bright ruby. Black fruits, mocha and a whiff of truffle on the rather clenched, slightly porty nose. Plush, sweet and large-scaled, but with almost surprising vinosity giving shape to the flavors of dark berries, coffee, mocha and iron. A huge wine with outstanding palate-staining persistence. The major tannins spread out to saturat

2006 Screaming Eagle "Second Flight" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Screaming Eagle "Second Flight" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Second Flight is a beautiful classy wine. Here the significant presence of Merlot (33%) helps to round out the Cabernet Sauvignon that is so distinctive in Screaming Eagle. Overall, this is a fairly generous expression of the year with plenty of the estate’s signatures. Over time, a compelling melange of savory herbs, spices and minerals comes alive in the glass. This is a super-impressive first vintage for Second Flight. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. I have had a number of fabulous tastings at Screaming Eagle, but this was one of the most memorable. The biggest news at Screaming Eagle is the release of a second wine, a project that has been in the works for a number of years. Owner Stan Kroenke and his team wanted to make sure their new wine was up to the estate’s standards, and have only released the first vintages over the last few months. I

2006 Blankiet "Rive Droite" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

93 points James Suckling: "Fascinating aromas of dark fruits, souis bois, sweet tobacco and chocolate. Full bodied, with a round and soft tannin structure and lovely chocolate, coffee bean, and spice notes. The finish turns to floral notes of lilacs and violets. Don't touch this until 2014. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot." (2/2011) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep, bright ruby-red. Highly aromatic nose combines mulberry, boysenberry, tobacco and flowers. Intensely flavored and sweet, with a scented quality to the fruit-driven flavors of ripe plum, mulberry and flowers.
