2006 Cain "Five" Spring Mountain District Bordeaux Blend

Jancis Robinson: "Dark purplish crimson. Appealing juicy fruit with a little overlay of walnuts on the nose. Some personality and a fruity core. Quite dusty and full blooded with slightly rustic tannins. Distinctive! I like the fact that the winemaker has not been afraid of tannin. Quite burly rather than super smooth. Out of the mould – so therefore mountain fruit..? I just wonder whether the fruit won’t fade a little bit too early for the tannins? Dry finish. But this is serious artisanal wine. (JR)" (3/2010) K&L Notes: The 2006 Cain Five is a warm, plump, plush wine. It has a nice ... Read More »

2006 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (95CG, 94RP, 94WE, 94WS, 92JS, 92VN). Connoisseurs Guide: " *Three Stars* Already amazingly seductive with wonderfully rich aromas of sweet oak, cocoa and fully expressed fruit making a first-rate introduction, this riveting young wine in no way lets up on the palate and delivers deep, multi-faceted flavors that combine ripeness, sweet oak and very precise fruit in near-perfect proportion. As is often the case with Insignia bottlings, it is so beautifully balanced that it invites early drinking, and, while we do not condemn giving in to its charms, we also would lobby strongly for patience as its best years lie down the line." 2006 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

93 points James Suckling: "I for one prefer the 2006 Opus to the 2007. I really appreciate the silky, refined, and aromatic quality of this wine. It’s full yet balanced with blueberry, currants, and spices on the finish. Racy is a word that comes to mind." (3/2012) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 comes across as a bigger, more structured wine than the 2007. The tannins are bolder, more dramatic, and more present. The wine displays impressive depth, not the velvety elegance of the 2007, but is a more muscular wine that begs for 2-3 years of cellaring and should drink well for 20-25 years. 93+ points. 2006 Hundred Acre "Ark Vineyard" Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More tannin and earthiness are apparent in the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard. Last year, this wine revealed considerable softness, but that has morphed into a more delineated, beautifully dense, full-bodied Cabernet with dazzling fragrance and glycerin in addition to an extravagant fruit character. It, too, should drink beautifully for 20 years. (RP)" (12/2008) 95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red-ruby. Knockout claret-like aroma of currant, tobacco, mocha, licorice and loam. Sweet and lush, with lovely energy and a distinctly rocky mineral character contributing to the w ...Read More »

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Ineo, a 250-case blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Merlot, reveals an elegant, Bordeaux-like personality along with good acidity, and plenty of white chocolate, black cherry, black currant, and loamy soil characteristics. Medium to full-bodied with outstanding concentration, lovely purity and depth, good balance, and sweet tannin, it should age effortlessly for two decades. (RP)" (12/2008)

2006 Futo Oakville Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Futo Oakville Bordeaux Blend (95RP, 94ST, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Futo (75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot) exhibits a deep ruby/blue/purple color, a flawless integration of tannin, acidity, wood, and alcohol, and gorgeous opulence. While Futo is situated on western hillsides overlooking Oakville, it displays a style that has more in common with the purity and elegance found in Screaming Eagle, which is a few miles to the east, on the valley floor. This beautiful 2006 is a resounding success for this vintage, which had some issues with rustic tannins. It should drink well for 15+ years. This new, tiny operation, with a beautiful vineyard overseen by David Abreu, and Mark Aubert making the wines, had its debut release in 2004, followed by a brilliant 2005. (RP)" (12/2008)

2006 Gemstone "Ten" Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points James Suckling: "I like the generous fruit in this wine, the reserve and polish adds to the overall quality. Lots of chocolate, berry, and fresh herbs on the nose. Full bodied, with soft and round tannins, and a pretty, juicy, fruity finish. Bright and attractive. Give this two or three years of bottle age before trying." (2/2011) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The superb 2006 Gemstone Proprietary Red (an 890-case blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot) is from the cooler Oakville / Yountville sector of Napa. It exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as a beautiful bouquet of subtle ne ...Read More »

2006 Ackerman Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (Previously $110)

Wine of the Week, St. Helena Star: "This 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon is all Coombsville: expressive, complex fruit and fresh acidity. While this vintage sports a Napa Valley price tag, it is one of those wines that is worth it for a special occasion. If you have a bottle or more in your cellar already, it should continue to age nicely as well. The wine has black cherry fruit with integrated spice and vanilla flavors built on a balanced structure with refreshing acidity." (July 21, 2014)

2006 Erna Schein "Fat Boy" Napa Valley Proprietary Red

96 points Wine Spectator: "Sleek and stylish, yet complex, offering red currant, clove and spice notes, with rich, layered black cherry, mocha and espresso flavors that take on momentum toward ripe but deep tannins. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc." (7/2009) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red. Restrained but sexy aromas of redcurrant and smoke. Suave and nicely perfumed, with a light touch to the flavors of redcurrant, milk chocolate, tobacco and licorice. A silky wine with juicy acidity and building dusty tannins. Mostly from Madrona Ranch fruit. (ST)" (5/2009)

2006 Blankiet "Rive Droite" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

93 points James Suckling: "Fascinating aromas of dark fruits, souis bois, sweet tobacco and chocolate. Full bodied, with a round and soft tannin structure and lovely chocolate, coffee bean, and spice notes. The finish turns to floral notes of lilacs and violets. Don't touch this until 2014. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot." (2/2011) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep, bright ruby-red. Highly aromatic nose combines mulberry, boysenberry, tobacco and flowers. Intensely flavored and sweet, with a scented quality to the fruit-driven flavors of ripe plum, mulberry and flowers. For all its breadth and sweet ...Read More »

2006 Dana Estates "Helms Vineyard" Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Helms Vineyard possesses the vintage’s structure and power. While this vintage is more irregular than the 2005, it has a tendency to produce more masculine-styled wines with loads of concentration, but less charm and finesse (at least at this stage). The 2006s are somewhat reminiscent of the 1996s, which followed the brilliant years of 1994 and 1995. The deep ruby/purple-hued 2006 Helms Vineyard cuvee offers subtle notes of spicy oak intermixed with forest floor and new oak. It exhibits a powerful, dense, rich finish, but over ...Read More »
