2007 Turnbull Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "he brilliant 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is the real deal. Incense, forest flowers, black fruits, and crushed rock, jump from the glass of this inky purple-colored wine. Full-bodied, dense, and voluptuously textured, this is a beauty, a superb bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink well young but age 10-15 years. Bravo!" (12/2009) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Tight, firm and concentrated, this is well-focused on a core of earthy blackberry, currant, dried herb and cedary oak. Full-bodied and well-proportioned, with excellent structure, depth, length and persistence. Drink now thro ...Read More »

2007 Anderson's Conn Valley "Prologue" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauviginon Back In Stock!
2007 Anderson's Conn Valley "Prologue" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauviginon

We're not exactly sure what this is "Prologue" to in the eyes of the winemaker, but we know that when you open a bottle it's a start to a great night. A Napa Valley Cab through and through, this 100% Cabernet from the impressive 2007 vintage is aged for 18 months in 60-gallon French oak barrels. The oak influence is subtle and really complements the blackberry and currant fruit. It leads with a heady nose of black tea, new leather, coffee, chocolate, purple flowers and fruit, all of which carry over to the palate, which is full and sweet but impeccably b... Read More »

2007 Cain "Concept-The Benchlands" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

You won't find any reviews for Cain's current releases, since the winery stopped sending their offerings out to the critics in the early 2000s. It's probably for the best, since their wines don't fit into the big, powerhouse box that many critics have built for top-scoring wines. Cain's wines, rather, are finessed and balanced, with a chalky thread running through their entire lineup. Even in the incredibly ripe 2007 vintage, this blend of Cabernet (57%), Merlot (15%), Cab Franc (13%), and Petit Verdot (12%) is quite balanced, if a little more generous t... Read More »

2007 Hewitt Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is a slightly softer, more forward wine, but it should last just as long. It is more typically Californian in its opulent black currant fruit intermixed with notes of chocolate, crushed rocks, vanilla, and black fruits. The tannins are sweeter than in the 2006, and the wine is full-bodied with a layered texture, admirable purity and depth, and a blockbuster finish with no shortage of tannin. Approachable now, it will be better in 2-3 years, and should last for 20-25 years. (RP)" (12/2009) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Offers ripe, supple plum and currant fla ...Read More »

2007 Soter "1977-2007" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(made from 60% 2007 fruit and 40% from 2006; all from the Tulocay region of the Napa Valley; 40% cabernet franc, 40% cabernet sauvignon and 20% malbec): Opaque ruby. Intense blackberry, licorice, tobacco and floral pastille scents show impressive power and focus. Juicy, smoke-tinged dark berry flavors are complemented by succulent herb and dark chocolate notes; becomes sweeter with air. Suave floral pastille and black and blue compote notes linger on a long, smoky, penetrating finish that features supple, harmonious tannins. This wine was aged in 80% new ...Read More »

2007 Merus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted too late to make it into the December issue, Merus’s 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits an inky/purple color as well as an extraordinary bouquet of blueberry liqueur intermixed with graphite, charcoal, cassis, and spice. The wood seems pushed to the background given the extraordinary concentration of fruit. Full-bodied, powerful, and rich with chocolaty espresso notes intermixed with blackberries and blueberries, this pure, impressively textured, long Cabernet should evolve for two decades. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Spottswoode "Family Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (99RP, 98JS, 95WS, 94ST, 94VN, 94W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Retasting the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon was a treat as I believe it is the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon Spottswoode has ever produced. Wonderful aromas of black raspberries, blueberries, black currants and flowers jump from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-tinged Cabernet. As I have stated before, if Chateau Margaux were in Napa Valley, it would be Spottswoode. The purity, balance and delicacy of this wine are impressive. Perhaps slightly less dense and powerful than the 2008, the 2007 is flawlessly put together with nothing out of place. It, too, should age effortlessly for 20-30+ years. (RP)" (12/2010)

91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(51% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot; from David Abreu's Howell Mountain vineyard and Hudson Vineyard fruit) Good red-ruby color. Ripe, sweet aromas of currant, cherry, coffee and chocolate, with an enticing floral element. Broad and sweet in the mouth, with currant and chocolate flavors dominating. 2007 Anderson's Conn Valley "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I indicated last year, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a brilliant effort. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it has begun to shut down slightly, but reveals an opaque purple color along with deep, sweet, cedary, black currant aromas intermixed with hints of tobacco leaf, licorice and graphite. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the perfect wines from Shafer is the 2007 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select. Think it over – in the first decade of the 21st century, Shafer scored three perfect scores and two 99s – that’s about as high a praise as I can give any producer in the world. Opaque purple in color, the 2007 has a stunning nose of sweet crème de cassis, black cherries, licorice, and toasty oak, a multilayered, full-throttle personality, and a texture that builds and builds. Great purity, fabulous fruit intensity and a richness without heaviness characterize this massive, prodigious effort from Shafer. It’s still very young, despite this vintage, which seems to be maturing precociously. I don’t believe this wine will hit its stride for at least another 5-10 years and drink well for at least 2-3 decades. (RP) " (12/2014)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 100JS, 100RP, 97WS, 96ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Scarecrow's inky/purple-colored 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is a prodigious effort. It reveals a liqueur of crushed rocks intermixed with a smorgasbord of spring flower, blueberry, creme de cassis, and assorted blue, black, and red fruit characteristics. It also possesses extraordinary concentration, but what sets it apart is the fragrant aromatics combined with uncommon purity and elegance for such a full-bodied, massively concentrated wine. Its perfect balance suggests it can be drunk at a relatively young age, but it should easily evolve over 30-35 years. Congratulations to all involved! (RP)" (12/2009)

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 is a dense bluish purple blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc, 11% Merlot, and 7% Petit Verdot. It displays beautifully perfumed blue and black fruits intermixed with some pen ink, acacia flowers, and black raspberries. Gorgeous, subtle smoke and a floral character follow through into the sweet tannins of this full-bodied, opulent wine, which builds incrementally and has a gloriously luxurious texture. It should drink nicely for a decade or more." (12/2008) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red-ruby. Bid on this bottle of 2007 Colgin "Cariad" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100JS, 100RP, 95ST, 95WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 550-cases of the perfect 2007 Cariad (original rating was 99), a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. One of northern California’s watershed vintages for Bordeaux varietals, according to Allison Tauziet, this wine revealed great potential from the day the first grapes were crushed. It possesses a dense purple color, massive fruit, soft but high tannin, and a structural profile somewhat similar to the 2002. There appears to be more underlying minerality in the 2007, but the sweetness of the tannin, the enormous concentration of fruit (blackberry, blueberry, cherry) intermixed with graphite, chocolate, coffee and crushed rock characteristics is striking. This is a compelling, even prodigious wine that hits all the palate’s sweet spots, possesses phenomenal upside potential, and is a mod

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Screaming Eagle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 100RP, 100VN, 98WS, 96JS, 96ST) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As impossible as it might seem, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon takes things to another level. An exquisite, celestial bouquet melds into endless layers of fruit as this rich, voluptuous wine blossoms on the palate. Full-bodied and seductive, the 2007 conquers all of the senses with its head spinning, beautiful personality. As always, Screaming Eagle is a bit more restrained next to Napa Valley's other heavy hitters, yet the pedigree of this opulent vintage comes through in spades. A kaleidoscope of aromas and flavors flows through to the creamy, textured finish. I have tasted the 2007 several times recently and it has always been magnificent. The 2007 appears to be shutting down just a touch, but that is probably a good thing for the future. (AG)" (12/2012)

Like most vintages of Seavey (the 1990 and 1991 are still very young wines), it will require patience. This is a decidedly mid-weight, gracious 2007 that stands out for its classiness and understated personality. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.
