2013 Petit Guiraud, Sauternes (375ml)

The second wine of Château Guiraud and made by Xavier Planty, Château Guiraud's oenologist since 1982. It is a modern style with a high proportion of Sauvignon Blanc (approximately one third), made from a blend of lots fermented in stainless steel (for minerality and freshness), and new French oak barrels, which promote the development of richness, body, and intensity of flavor on the palate. Guiraud has employed organic farming methods since 1996, and obtained organic certification in 2011.

2005 Raymond-Lafon, Sauternes (375ml)

91-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "No tasting note given." (4/2008) 93 points Wine Spectator: "This is pure and precise, showing rich apricot, peach and clementine flavors, but great cut too, with a mouthwatering edge that lets chamomile, green plum and honeysuckle notes dance through the finish. Gorgeous. (JM, Web-2011)" 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright yellow-gold. Superripe but precise aromas of mirabelle, white nectarine and honey. Supersweet, deep and powerful, with a fat, honeyed character and terrific spicy persistence. A big boy but with lovely balance. (ST)" (7/2008)

2005 Guiraud, Sauternes (Previously $60.00)

Lots of fruit with a tropical fruit undertone of mango and papaya on the palate. Intense finish. Too excellent not to drink." (7/2013) 97 points Wine Spectator: "*Highly Recommended and #4 on Top 100 of 2008* Delivers lots of botrytis spice, with lemon tart and cooked apple. 2013 Clos Haut Peyraguey, Sauternes (375 ml)

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Clos Haut-Peyraguey, now within the stable of Bernard Magrez, is slightly deeper in color than its peers. It has a gentle, slightly nutty and smoky bouquet that unfolds nicely in the glass. The palate is viscous on the entry with mellifluous honeyed fruit. There is plenty of botrytis here, good acidity with a concentrated, almost Climens-like finish. This is very fine and could merit a higher score after bottling. The finish sails on and on, coating the palate with a porcelain feel, while an echo of bitter almond hangs effortlessly, like a lace curtain hanging on an endless breeze. Stunning. 2009 Doisy-Védrines, Sauternes

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the château, the 2009 Château Doisy-Védrines already exudes impressive breeding on the nose with complex, beguiling scents of dried honey, quince, walnut and just a touch of barley sugar. The palate is medium-bodied with layers of viscous, honeyed fruit, superb acidity and wonderful precision on the finish. There is a sense of completeness and harmony to this Doisy-Védrines. Exotic, expressive aromas of apricot, honey, white raisin and caramel. Superripe and moderately thick but with sound acids giving it excellent balance. 2005 Climens, Barsac (375ml)

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the 10-Year On Tasting in Sauternes. The 2005 Château Climens just soars from the glass with layers of clear honey, marmalade, nectarine and minerals all beautifully carved. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh, vibrant honeyed fruit that builds and builds in the mouth in tandem with a killer line of acidity. 2013 Rayne Vigneau, Sauternes (375ml)

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Rayne-Vigneau, picked from September 21 until October 30 over four tries, is being blended from 28 lots and sees 40% new oak. It is still showing quite conspicuous oak on the nose, although there is clearly sufficient honeyed fruit to support it. With continued aeration, it reveals attractive but subtle almond and spice scents. The palate is well-balanced with a lively honeyed entry. This is already very cohesive, with fine delineation, and the finish is very composed, with a saltiness lingering on the aftertaste. It is a classic Rayne-Vigneau t ...Read More »

(4/2015) 94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château Doisy-Védrines 2014 is a blend of 85% Sémillon and 15% Sauvignon Blanc, a modest 134 grams per liter residual sugar and a pH of 3.55 (a figure that might be a little lower than recent vintages.) It has a fragrant bouquet that is actually qu ...Read More »

2015 Doisy-Daëne, Sauternes (Pre-Arrival)

95-97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Doisy-Daene has a detailed bouquet, very correct, nothing showy or flamboyant as is typical of Denis Dubourdieu's Barsac. The palate is extremely well balanced and very pure: citrus fruit infusing the honeyed botrytis, veins of white peach and quince, leading to a very precise and sustained finish that leaves you with a smile on your face...and the wine ain't even finished yet! Just a wonderful wine - full of class and nascent joie-de-vivre. Chapeau Denis! (NM)" (4/2016) 95-96 points James Suckling: "Wow. This is really impressive with a fabulous density and style. So much mus ...Read More »

1975 d'Yquem, Sauternes

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1975 Château d'Yquem stands as one of the towering successes of that decade and at 40 years of age, it shows no signs of losing any of its prowess. This bottle represented one of the best that I have encountered. Iridescent in color, the bouquet soars from the glass, a pyrotechnic display of quince, Clementine, honey and a touch of aszu, lending it a slight Tokaji-like personality. It is beautifully defined and intense. The palate is pure and detailed with a killer line of acidity, vibrant honeyed fruit and a mellifluous finish that is now fully expr ...Read More »

It is beautifully defined and intense. The palate is pure and detailed with a killer line of acidity, vibrant honeyed fruit and a mellifluous finish that is now fully expressive. It vies with the imperious 1971 as the greatest Yquem of that era. This is simply magnificent. (NM)" (06/2015)

2015 Doisy-Védrines, Sauternes (Pre-Arrival)

95-96 points James Suckling: "This has phenolic tension and power with so much dried fruit character from pineapple to mango. Full, medium sweet and lively. Really excellent." (4/2016) 93-96 points Wine Spectator: "A plumper, richer style than most Barsacs, with almond cream, ginger and hazelnut accents starting to develop alongside the orange, apricot and peach flavors. Offers a lovely feel. (JM)" (4/2016) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Doisy-Vedrines has quite an intense nose, perhaps less fat and honeyed than recent vintages, more finesse if not quite capturing the same level of details as the Doisy-Daëne this year. The palate is very ...Read More »

2014 Guiraud, Sauternes (Pre-Arrival)

94-97 points Wine Spectator: "A juicy, engaging core of apricot, nectarine and green fig is backed by ginger and spiced apple accents. Orange zest notes enliven the finish even more. Shows solid length, power and precision. (JM, Web-2015)" 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château Guiraud 2014 has a perfumed bouquet with clear honey, beeswax and honeysuckle aromas that are well defined. The palate is fresh and taut on the entry: good tension and focus here, very harmonious with a gently build in the mouth towards a satisfying marmalade and quince-driven finish. This is a finely crafted Guiraud that will be a class ...Read More »

2014 La Tour Blanche, Sauternes (Pre-Arrival)

95-97 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Barrel Tasting* The wine shows intensity and concentration, offering ripe yellow fruits and honeyed sweetness tempered by boytritis. Initially, it seems to be all sweetness, then that essential acidity creeps in with the wonderful freshness of squeezed lemon." (3/2015) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château La Tour Blanche 2014 is a blend of 82% Sémillon, 12% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle that has 130 grams per liter residual sugar, a level that might be lower than what I was expecting, though still around average for the vintage. The Sémillon is matured in wooden barrel, the o ...Read More »

1997 de Malle, Sauternes

91 points Wine Spectator: "Absolutely wonderful, with honey, vanilla and apple aromas that follow through to a full-bodied palate. Very good acidity and a long, flavorful finish. Best after 2001. (JS)" (1/2000) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An exotic, flamboyant bouquet of orange marmalade, honeyed citrus, caramel, coconut, and pain grille soars from the glass of this well-bodied, potentially outstanding effort. In the mouth, it reveals an unctuous texture with tangy underlying acidity, medium to full body, and gobs of fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2020. 2010 La Tour Blanche, Sauternes (375ml)

91-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, pale yellow-gold. Exotic aromas of apricot, kiwi and minerals, complicated by smoky botrytis. Very clean and focused in the mouth, with pure, penetrating orange marmalade and ripe citrus flavors lifted by minerals and saffron. Refined and elegant in its mouth feel and very long on the aftertaste. Extremely well done. (ID)" (8/2011) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Lush and captivating, showing layers of pineapple, peach, passion fruit and mango entwined with one another and carried by a bright green almond note through the finish. Not shy on depth, but offers a decidedly prettier ...Read More »

A big wine. (JM, Web-2016)" 92-95 points Vinous: "Candied orange peel, crème brulée, vanillin, pineapple and apricot jam meld together in the 2015 Clos Haut-Peyraguey. Deep, rich and unctuous - but with all of the finesse of the vintage - the Clos Haut-Peyraguey exudes depth, texture and pure class.
