2009 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Estournelles St-Jacques" (Pre-Arrival) New!
2009 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Estournelles St-Jacques" (Pre-Arrival)

91-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Palish medium red. Perfumed aromas of cherry, redcurrant, licorice and crushed stone. Sweet, pliant and concentrated; at once very ripe and elegant, with lovely lift for the vintage. Wonderfully expressive, penetrating wine, finishing with tangy red fruits and minerals and a light touch. But will it top the 2008? (ST)" (1/2011) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles St. Jacques emerges from the glass with explosive dark fruit. This is an especially large scaled, big style of Gevrey, but all of the elements come together nicely in the glass. The tannins tu ...Read More »

2009 Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des 60 Ouvrées" (Pre-Arrival)

94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Sweet Spot Outstanding* The ripest nose to this point exhibits liqueur-like notes of plum, blue berry and violets that complement well the equally ripe, opulent and mineral-inflected flavors that are also quite full-bodied, all wrapped in a detailed, vibrant and hugely long finish. The underlying material here is superb and this should easily improve for the next 12 to 15 years and last for an equivalent period thereafter." (5/2011) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full, bright red. Reticent but pure aromas of redcurrant, truffle and licorice; subdued but not at all roasted. Silky o ...Read More »

2009 Domaine Faiveley Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full yellow. Peach nectar, honey, vanilla and musky lees on the nose. Concentrated, sweet and deep; wonderfully chewy grand cru and surprisingly open-knit today. A saline character adds an element of interest to the lingering finish. This seems approachable now but should have the stuffing to age. (ST)" (9/2011) 91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Relatively generous wood sets off a ripe nose of honeysuckle, acacia blossom and liqueur of pear nuances that is followed by mouth coating, powerful and wonderfully rich flavors that possess a luxurious mouth feel due to the abundant amount of extr ...Read More »

2009 Château de la Tour Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru

94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Visible but reasonably well-integrated wood sets off somber, very ripe and distinctly earthy dark berry fruit liqueur aromas. There is impressive richness to the powerful broad-shouldered flavors that brim with dry extract that does an excellent job of buffering the very firm tannins on the beautifully balanced, long and quite serious finish. This is an excellent example whose only fault lies in being completely overshadowed by its '09 VV counterpart." (1/2012) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, deep red. 2009 Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru "Charmes"

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A relatively reserved nose of exceptionally fresh and bright white peach, pear and dried apricot is followed by rich and impressively concentrated flavors that retain fine detail as well as a wonderful sense of underlying tension on the clean, precise and lingering finish. This is really quite good and like the Genevrières, this is a classy wine of grace and harmony that should handsomely repay 5 to 7 years of cellar time." (6/2012) 92 points Vinous: "The 2009 Meursault Charmes flows across the palate with layers of seamless fruit. The wine fleshes out beautifully on the mid ...Read More »

2009 Domaine Louis Carillon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Perrieres"

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrieres is another fairly immediate, round wine. With time in the glass the wine opens to reveal pretty layers of fruit. There is an attractive inner minerality here that makes me think the Perrieres isn’t showing all of its cards just yet. This is an attractive, sensual Burgundy that will drink beautifully, especially if given another year or two. Today it is a bit on the simple side. (AG)" (9/2011) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale yellow. White peach and minerals on the nose. 2009 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru "Vieilles Vignes"
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru "Vieilles Vignes" ((94-97RP), 96BH, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Musigny Vieilles Vignes fleshes out beautifully with endless layers of fruit that caress the palate in stunning style. Sweet floral notes meld into expressive dark red fruit in this mysterious, evocative Burgundy. There is a weightless intensity to the Musigny that is achingly gorgeous. Waves of flavor continue to build towards the sexy, racy finish as the 2009 shows off its pedigree. The 2009 will always be an exuberant Musigny, but time in bottle will help shed some of the baby fat. This is likely to be a great, great wine for several decades. Anticipated maturity: 2024-2039. 2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Boudots" (Pre-Arrival)

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "In 2009, the nose is more Vosne than Nuits with ample amounts of spice to the very ripe liqueur of cassis and red cherries that gives way to highly complex, intense and concentrated medium weight plus flavors that culminate in a rich, suave and superbly long finish. This is right at the limit of what I personally prefer in terms of ripeness but many will find this to be highly seductive." 2009 Domaine Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Louis Jadot Bonnes Mares Grand Cru (95RP, 94ST, 93BH, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Bonnes-Mares is another wine that is showing very little of its potential today. Black cherries, cassis, licorice, graphite and spices are some of the many notes that emerge from this powerful, super-intense Burgundy. The finish turns implosive and incredibly mineral. This, too, should be a jewel when it awakens from its current state of dormancy. The 2009 is at once sensual yet powerful. In other words, it captures the nuance, complexity and pedigree of this site to the maximum. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. (AG)" (04/2012)

2009 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru

This is actually relatively expressive and approachable for a young Cham yet the balance and harmony is present for this to age for decades. A brilliant effort and one of the best vintages ever for this justifiably revered wine. (AM)" (1/2012) 97 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "97+ ...Read More »

2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Richebourg Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Richebourg Grand Cru (97BH, 96ST, 94RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also on the restrained side with a discreet nose that features a spicy, cool, ripe and elegant nose of primarily blue and black pinot fruit and wet stone nuances that continue onto the focused, powerful and substantial broad-shouldered flavors that possess superb mid-palate concentration and flat out amazing length. Grivot told me that the 2009 version of his Richebourg is the best that he has ever made and from my perspective, I agree as even the amazing 2005 did not show as well at the same point in its evolution. In a word, brilliant" (01/2012)

88-91 points Wine Spectator: "and the fleshy, dense Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots, full of saturated black currant and black cherry flavors and brooding tannins" (2/2013) 87-89 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(tasted from barrel; 100% vendange entier): Good bright, deep red. Chocolate, herbs, licorice and nutty oak on the nose; seems a bit advanced. Then lush and quite sweet but loose-knit, showing an almost candied character to its medicinal dark fruit flavors. This shows lovely depth and richness, then turns quite a bit more powerful and tannic on the finish. Sweet menthol and crushed rocks wrap around the close. Les Jarolieres is on the border with Volnay. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2039. (AG)" (5/2011) 93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: ""Sweet spot Outstanding" A completely different fruit profile is present here as the red currant, earth and wet stone aromas are followed by rich, full and naturally sweet mineral-driven flavors possess excellent mid-palate density ...Read More »

The minerality is so strong that there is a Chablis-like saline character. A classy effort of finesse. 90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A highly seductive nose speaks of black cherry and liqueur of red raspberry that dissolves into vibrant, rich and impressively concentrated flavors that possess a tender mid-palate but firm up quickly on the focused, intense and palate staining finish. This is not as complex as the two old vine Gevrey cuvées but it's, not surprisingly, finer." (1/2011) Jancis Robinson: "Quite deep and purplish. 2009 Château de Chorey (Germain) Beaune 1er Cru "Les Cras" Vieilles Vignes

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report) writes: "The Château de Chorey is a (the) beautiful moated castle in Chorey-lès-Beaune, the family have been here since the end of the 19th century. Wine used to be made at the Château and then shipped to Beaune for storage – it wasn’t so convenient says Benoit Germain who is now responsible for exploiting the domaine’s wines, so they bought a cuverie 5 minutes walk away through the village of Chorey."

This should be outstanding in time though note that yet again, lots of it will be required." 2009 Clos du Moulin aux Moines Pommard 1er Cru "Clos Orgelot" Monopole New!
2009 Clos du Moulin aux Moines Pommard 1er Cru "Clos Orgelot" Monopole

This 1er cru vineyard is a monopole of the domaine. The parcel is located above Epenots, between Pézerolles and Clos des Mouches. One-third of the plot was planted in 1921, with the "young" vines planted in 1990 and 1993. The wine spends approximately 20 months in barrel (1/3 new). From the winery (not vintage specific): "Aromas of ripe red fruit and cashew, exotic wood and sandalwood. Its structure is very rich, fleshy and velvety. The finish is firm and of great length."

There is good energy to the intense and admirably rich full-bodied flavors that envelope the palate with velvety sap on the beautifully balanced and impressively persistent finish. This is not a big wine and though it's not strict, neither is it especially generous at present. However, a fine Latricières often puts on weight and flesh as it ages and I suspect that is what this will do too." There is plenty of intensity in the glass. Hints of hard candy and licorice wrap around the finish. The Pezerolles was made with 100% destemmed fruit.
