2009 Louis Jadot Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru (Previously $230)

94 points Wine Spectator: "A muscular, full-bodied red, with pure cherry, raspberry and currant fruit. Tightens up on the finish, where subtle oak spice lingers. Balanced, on a sinewy frame. Best from 2016 through 2035." (6/2012) 93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A pretty and cool but distinctly ripe mix of upper and lower register aromas includes notes of red currant, wild red berries, earth and stone hints. The attractively energetic and focused medium weight plus flavors possess very fine mid-palate concentration with a silky yet firm mouth feel. There is excellent depth and length to the palate staining finish t ...Read More »

2009 Louis Jadot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru

92-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Clos de la Roche comes across as big, powerful and a touch heavy-handed. This shows tons of richness and depth but lacks the sheer excitement of the estate's finest wines. The Clos de la Roche is made from purchased wine. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. (AG)" (5/2011) 91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A beautifully complex and overtly sauvage nose speaks of plum, red currant and red berry liqueur nuances that introduce delicious, round and quite supple middle weight flavors that possess reasonably good concentration, all wrapped in a dusty and moderately austere finish that deliv ...Read More »

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Sweet spot Outstanding* The ripest nose to this point exhibits liqueur-like notes of plum, blue berry and violets that complement well the equally ripe, opulent and mineral-inflected flavors that are also quite full-bodied, all wrapped in a detailed, vibrant and hugely long finish. The underlying material here is superb and this should easily improve for the next 12 to 15 years and last for an equivalent period thereafter. " (05/2011)

2009 Joseph Drouhin Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru

This is very serious juice that is most impressive. Drink: 2024+" (5/2011) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Grands-Echezeaux is an opulent, full-bodied wine for the house. 2009 Domaine Anne Gros Richebourg Grand Cru Back In Stock!
2009 Domaine Anne Gros Richebourg Grand Cru

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottled and tasted at the Domaine. The Richebourg demands some coaxing from the glass, but eventually reveals some lovely dark cherry fruit, a touch of bergamot and fresh apricot, with tangible underlying mineralite. The palate has a sweet, precocious entry reined in by the citric thread of acidity. Lovely balance and finesse that belies the power that comes through on the finish. Tasted January 2011. (NM-Wine Journal)" (3/2011) 96 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright, deep red. Wonderfully vibrant aromas of raspberry, flowers, blood orange, cardamom and cocoa powder. 2009 Domaine Marius Delarche Corton-Renardes Grand Cru Réserve Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Marius Delarche Corton-Renardes Grand Cru Réserve Vieilles Vignes. About the domain: "Burgundy from Domaine Marius Delarche stands as an example of what great wine can and should be: both memorable and affordable. We first came across the family’s tiny cellars in Pernand-Vergelesses in the early 1990s, and honestly couldn’t believe what we saw, or tasted. Hidden away in this peaceful valley in the shadow of the noble hill of Corton was certainly the Côte de Beaune’s best-kept secret—gorgeous wines made by an honest winemaker for prices that reminded of decades past." (From the importer) The 50-year old vines of the Corton-Renardes were planted near the summit of the noble hill of Corton. Look for a brooding and layered character, with notes of licorice and peppery spice.

2009 Domaine Dominique Mugneret Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Boudots"
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Dominique Mugneret Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Boudots". A small winery, founded in 1979 and run by the cousin of Patrice Mugneret of Domaine Gerard Mugneret. From Wine Advocate: "Dominique Mugneret is the cousin of Patrice Mugneret of Domaine Gerard Mugneret. Its roots like in Domaine Denis Mugneret that was established in 1979, his son Dominique officially starting three years later after studies at viticultural college and military service and bottling a majority of production themselves only really began in 1985 after the cuverie had been built. Dominique took over completely in 1999, introducing biodynamic principles towards his vineyard husbandry, cultivating grass between rows to regulate vigor, fully de-stemming fruit, and only intermittently racking during elevage. This is a small winery located opposite the Clos des Reas vineyard in Vosne-Romanée, a fairly rudimentary winery that nevertheless creates commendable wines." (NM, 12/2013

Of the 2005 Domaine Philippe Gavignet Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Bousselots",Wine Spectator writes: "A burly edge is matched by concentrated cassis and plum notes, while the tannins emerge from midpalate on. Of the 2009 Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "The 2009 Corton-Les Bressandes is an implosive wine. It possesses massive structure and powerful tannins, but the best is many years away. The fruit is very nicely textured on the long, pointed finish. This shows superb purity, class and pedigree. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2039. This is a stunning set of wines from Patrick Landager. The vintage yielded a set of super-sized, big wines that may shock some readers for their sheer intensity. Of the 2010 Domaine Arlaud Clos de la Roche Grand Cru,Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: "Strong reduction dominates the nose but there is excellent power, concentration and richness to the broad-scaled flavors that possess excellent volume, particularly on the mid-palate. Despite all the size and weight, the superbly long finish is linear and tension-filled. Like the Charmes, this is not at present highly complex and my range again offers the benefit of the doubt based on the excellent quality of the underlying material as well as the fine track record of this wine for rewarding long-term aging." 2009 Domaine Arlaud Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Arlaud Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru ((91-94BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the cool and only moderately ripe nose is somewhat atypical for the vintage as it combines notes of raspberry, plum and sour cherry. The supple and delicious flavors are lacy to the point of being almost delicate yet there is focused power on the mouth coating finish. The tannins possess a dusty character and unlike the Combottes, there is excellent complexity and flat out stunning length delivered in a style that emphasizes finesse. Fans of power and weight will wish to look elsewhere but for those who enjoy elegance, this is a textbook example of what I call power without weight." (01/2011)

Sexy, highly aromatic nose combines briary raspberry, crushed stone, clove, cumin, dried flowers and smoke. Wonderfully silky and seductive on the palate, with compelling inner-mouth perfume. 2009 Domaine Rossignol-Trapet Latricieres-Chambertin Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival)

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A reserved and also quite floral medium-pitched nose speaks of wet stone and anise on the restrained and pure red pinot fruit aromas that complement well the mineral-driven flavors that offer a seductively textured and energetic finish that possesses picture-perfect balance and excellent length. This is not a big wine and though it's not strict, neither is it especially generous at present. However, a fine Latricières often puts on weight and flesh as it ages and I suspect that is what this will do too." Wild nose melds strawberry, mocha, game, iron, licorice, lavender and crushed tock. Then tighter and drier on the palate than the Clos-Saint-Denis, and much less open to inspection today. Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is really quite pretty with ripe but not roasted red berry fruit, underbrush, game and red currant aromas. There is reasonably good density to the delicious and solidly complex medium-bodied flavors that exhibit a trace of minerality on the attractively persistent and palate coating finish. The supporting tannins are both phenolically mature as well as well-integrated which allows it to be accessible yet make no mistake, this should age well if desired. There is good intensity and detail to the opulently textured medium weight plus flavors that are blessed with a seemingly endless reserve of sap on the gorgeously long finish. It possesses remarkable detail and nuance. This is a decidedly elegant Corton-Charlemagne that impresses for its elegance. It is cool, inward and precise from start to finish. Colin-Morey works with two parcels, one on the Aloxe side, the other on the Pernand side. Both were harvested on the same day, vinified together and aged in Chassin barrels, one of them new. It has a gorgeous waxy, honeysuckle bouquet with apricot blossom and fig jam aromas. It is exotic compared to the Coche-Dury style, but you won't complain. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Volnay Les Caillerets is a rather dark, imposing wine in this lineup. Here the aromatics are a touch subdued, but what impresses is the authoritative, masculine personality. There is more than enough sheer extract to balance the firm tannins on the incisive finish. Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Bruno Clavelier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "La Combe d`Orveaux" Vieilles Vignes (93BH, 93ST, 92WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright red. Sexy aromas of red fruits, coffee, wild herbs, exotic spices and smoky minerality. Rich and creamy yet at the same time savory and vibrant; spreads out impressively to saturate the mouth with red fruit and spice flavors. Finishes with serious dusty tannins, excellent length and plenty of force. Bruno Clavelier describes 2009 as "a vintage of material, strong but tasty," and this wine is a perfect demonstration of this combination. (ST)" (03/2012)
