2009 Louis Jadot 1er Cru Chambolle Musigny "Les Baudes" (Pre-Arrival)

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Like the Fuées, this is highly perfumed and very Chambolle with its restrained, complex and ultra-pure nose of red pinot fruit but here there is a more evident taut muscularity to the delineated, intense and equally pure medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent energy as well as a mineral-streak that runs to the serious, dusty and driving finish. I quite like this and the balance and concentration should permit it to age well for at least a decade and last several more. Impressive. *Outstanding*" (5/2011) 92 points John Gilman: "The 2009 Chambolle “Baudes” is just a tad riper ...Read More »

2009 Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les St. Georges" (Pre-Arrival)

94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A distinctly earthy nose of red currants, iron and a hint of the sauvage that is also reflected by the rich and full-bodied yet supple flavors that are underpinned by relatively sophisticated tannins on the very firm and serious finish that is moderately austere at present. Patience will be required as this tremendous effort is very solidly structured. *Outstanding*" (1/2012) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Nuits St. Georges Les St. Georges bursts from the glass with a dark, powerful voice. This is classic Les St. Georges. At times a bit on the rustic side, the wine makes up for ...Read More »

2009 Chandon de Briailles Corton Grand Cru "Les Bressandes" (Pre-Arrival)

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Sweet Spot* This is also very ripe but here the cassis, violet and black berry aromas are noticeably fresher. The rich, intense and broad-shouldered flavors display a distinct mineral character and better elegance to the dense but fine tannins that shape the hugely long finish. This has the potential to be outstanding but it will require the better part of two decades to arrive at its peak." (5/2011) 93 points Vinous: "Good dark red. Dark, brooding aromas of cherry pit, botanical herbs, smoke and earth. Deep, energetic and penetrating, offering a beautiful combination of vo ...Read More »

2009 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Chaignots"

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Nuits St. Georges Les Chaignots possesses notable freshness and verve while also showing the ripeness of the year, a very attractive combination. Freshly cut flowers, minerals and spices add energy and vibrancy to the dark red fruit. The Chaignots could use another year or two in bottle, but if opened in advance it is showing very, very well even today. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. 2009 Joseph Drouhin Grands-Echézeaux Grand Cru

95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Don't Miss!* ( from a .47 ha parcel) A ripe yet airy and fresh nose speaks of spice and pure plum aromas that display background hints of cassis and floral aromas that are followed by intense, powerful and broad-shouldered flavors that possess superb depth of material and knockout complexity on the hugely long finish. This is very serious juice that is most impressive. Drink: 2024+" (5/2011) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Grands-Echezeaux is an opulent, full-bodied wine for the house. This is all about texture and richness, as the fruit is very much on the overt side. It will ...Read More »

2009 Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Corton Grand Cru "Les Bressandes" (Pre-Arrival)

94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Sweet Spot* A very ripe liqueur of red pinot fruit, plum and violet-infused nose leads to rich, elegant and very pure big-bodied and well-muscled flavors that possess impressively detailed and ample minerality on the firm but not hard, long and impeccably well-balanced finish. This explodes on the finish and like the Jarolières, it possesses plenty of underlying tension that imparts a highly attractive sense of vibrancy and life." Of the 2009 Domaine de Montille Volnay 1er Cru "Brouillards",Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: "This is aromatically much more reticent at present with more obvious floral and spice influence along with the somber and quite earthy red berry fruit notes. There is good richness and intensity to the medium-bodied and fleshy flavors that possess an emphatic finishing austerity. I like the Cistercian character this displays though it will not be to everyone's taste. Note that I suspect the current reserved quality will pass with a few years of bottle age." (05/2011)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Vaucrains" ((92-95BH), 94RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here too there is a subtle touch of wood that does not interfere with the clear expression of the intensely earthy and sauvage character of lightly spiced red berry and cassis aromas. The supple yet quite concentrated broad-shouldered flavors are supported by very firm tannins before culminating in a tension-filled, serious and notably austere finish that is intense to the point of being borderline painful. This should be very long-lived because despite being a very big wine, the balance is faultless." (01/2011)

2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Echezeaux Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Echezeaux Grand Cru (95BH, 95RP, 93ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Echezeaux is pure silk. Black cherries, spices, licorice and tar are all woven together in a fabric of nearly indescribable elegance. All the elements fall into place as the Echezeaux captivates both the intellectual and hedonistic senses. This is a wine that impresses for its understated elegance. Readers won't find the drive of the Clos de Vougeot or the structure of the Richebourg. Instead, the Echezeaux possesses stunning textural finesse and phenomenal balance. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. Etienne Grivot's 2009s were some of the most exciting wines I tasted on my most recent trip to Burgundy. (AG)" (04/2012)

2009 Domaine Faiveley Grand Cru Latricières-Chambertin (Pre-Arrival)

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A reserved yet ultra elegant, airy and quite cool nose, particularly in the context of this notably ripe vintage, speaks of perfumed and very fresh red currant, stone and a hint of spiced floral notes. The mouth coating, rich and overtly muscular flavors possess outstanding detail and even more minerality than is suggested by the nose, all wrapped in a very serious and hugely long finish that is a bit less austere than usual. A stunner." (1/2011) 92-95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Dark red. Crushed black cherry, licorice and minerals on the pure, vibrant nose. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Ducs" (95BH, 95RP, 94VN, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Volnay Clos Des Ducs is the only wine in this lineup that is playing its cards close to the vest. Weightless yet powerful, the Clos des Ducs impresses for its striking balance and poise. There is so much going on in the glass its hard to know where to start. Floral notes meld into hints of licorice, sweet red cherries and mint in this crystalline, totally gorgeous Volnay. Today the tannins are impossibly firm, so readers will have to be patient. This is far from an easygoing 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. (AG) 95+" (04/2012)

2009 Château de la Tour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes

95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A markedly ripe yet agreeably fresh nose of lightly spiced and distinctly floral aromas of earthy red currant, menthol, cassis and humus. There is outstanding richness to the round and admirably concentrated big-bodied flavors that display an evident muscularity as well as an abundance of dry extract that stains the palate and pushes the firm tannic spine to the background on the explosively long and overtly austere finish. This is a serious 2009 that will require at least 15 years of cellar time." (1/2014) 95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red with ruby highlights. 2009 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Grand Cru Mazoyeres-Chambertin (Pre-Arrival)

95 points Vinous: "The 2009 Mazoyères-Chambertin is intense and tightly coiled at this stage. Deep layers of fruit struggle to emerge from this reluctant, concentrated wine. Still, with some coaxing the aromas and flavors gradually begin to emerge. This is an intensely mineral, focused Burgundy that will require considerable patience. Saline notes are woven through the long finish. I can't wait to see how this develops. Of the 2009 Domaine Geantet-Pansiot Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes,Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: "A relatively expressive nose of wild red berries, blue berry liqueur and earth undertones that are also reflected by the bigger and notably more robust medium-bodied flavors blessed with ample amounts of extract and an attractive touch of minerality on the seriously long and ever-so-mildly austere finish. 2009 Domaine Rossignol-Trapet Latricieres-Chambertin Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival)

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A reserved and also quite floral medium-pitched nose speaks of wet stone and anise on the restrained and pure red pinot fruit aromas that complement well the mineral-driven flavors that offer a seductively textured and energetic finish that possesses picture-perfect balance and excellent length. This is not a big wine and though it's not strict, neither is it especially generous at present. However, a fine Latricières often puts on weight and flesh as it ages and I suspect that is what this will do too." This is a marvelous villages and worth your attention." (2/2011) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Meursault En la Barre emerges from the glass with layers of expressive fruit. The '09 is the best example of this wine that I have ever tasted from cask chez Chevillon." Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Louis Jadot Le Millesime Beaune 1er Cru (94VN, 91BH). Vinous: "The 2009 Beaune 150th Anniversary Cuvée is a commemorative wine created to celebrate Jadot's 150th birthday. I think it is safe to say Jadot hit it out the park with these effort. The 150th Anniversary Cuvée is a selection of the maison's best parcels in the Côte de Beaune. It boasts extraordinary richness and length, not to mention fabulous overall balance. Seemingly endless layers of intensely fragrant dark red fruit build to the effortless, huge finish. This is a fabulous showing from Jadot. It is just as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. Readers will be tempted to drink the 2009 early, so immense is its appeal, but opening a bottle before its tenth birthday is likely to be nothing more than an academic exercise. (AG)" (04/2012)

Pierre told me that he will not change a great deal though he did note that he wants to create more supple and forward wines that have less extraction and that will mature over a 3 to 4 year horizon. It shows gorgeous inner tension, expressive perfume and a long, impeccable silky finish. Bright floral notes add lift on the finish. This could probably use another few years in bottle. This is a very steep slope that passes very quickly from being ripe to over-ripe, so the harvest date is critical.
