2009 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Les Estournelles St-Jacques" (Pre-Arrival)

91-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Palish medium red. Perfumed aromas of cherry, redcurrant, licorice and crushed stone. Sweet, pliant and concentrated; at once very ripe and elegant, with lovely lift for the vintage. Wonderfully expressive, penetrating wine, finishing with tangy red fruits and minerals and a light touch. But will it top the 2008? (ST)" (1/2011) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Estournelles St. Jacques emerges from the glass with explosive dark fruit. This is an especially large scaled, big style of Gevrey, but all of the elements come together nicely in the glass. The tannins tu ...Read More »

2009 Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Pommard 1er Cru "Jarollières" (Pre-Arrival)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pommard Les Jarolieres saturates the palate with its round, ripe fruit. This shows lovely depth and richness, then turns quite a bit more powerful and tannic on the finish. Sweet menthol and crushed rocks wrap around the close. Les Jarolieres is on the border with Volnay. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2039. (AG)" (5/2011) 93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: ""Sweet spot Outstanding" A completely different fruit profile is present here as the red currant, earth and wet stone aromas are followed by rich, full and naturally sweet mineral-driven flavors possess excellent mid-palate density ...Read More »

2009 Domaine Faiveley Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full yellow. Peach nectar, honey, vanilla and musky lees on the nose. Concentrated, sweet and deep; wonderfully chewy grand cru and surprisingly open-knit today. A saline character adds an element of interest to the lingering finish. This seems approachable now but should have the stuffing to age. (ST)" (9/2011) 91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Relatively generous wood sets off a ripe nose of honeysuckle, acacia blossom and liqueur of pear nuances that is followed by mouth coating, powerful and wonderfully rich flavors that possess a luxurious mouth feel due to the abundant amount of extr ...Read More »

2009 Château de Chorey (Germain) Beaune 1er Cru "Les Cras" Vieilles Vignes

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report) writes: "The Château de Chorey is a (the) beautiful moated castle in Chorey-lès-Beaune, the family have been here since the end of the 19th century. Wine used to be made at the Château and then shipped to Beaune for storage – it wasn’t so convenient says Benoit Germain who is now responsible for exploiting the domaine’s wines, so they bought a cuverie 5 minutes walk away through the village of Chorey."

2009 Domaine Nicolas Rossignol Volnay 1er Cru "Ronceret"

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Sweet Spot, Outstanding* In contrast to the expressiveness of many wines in the range, this is restrained to the point of reticence though aggressive swirling liberating grudging aromas of black fruit, wet stone and lovely floral notes. The dense, powerful and tautly muscular medium-bodied flavors ooze a fine extract that confers a textured and almost chewy mouth feel to the fantastically long and explosive finish. This wonderfully impressive effort is built for the long haul and about the only nit is a subtle touch of warmth that doesn't detract signif ...Read More »

2009 Pascal Marchand Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Sweet Spot* A classic nose that is distinctly sauvage and even more complex if less elegant than that of the Latricières with more earth and game emphasis that is followed by ripe, supple and relatively seductive medium weight plus flavors that possess buckets of extract on the concentrated, intense and seriously persistent finish. This should be outstanding in time though note that yet again, lots of it will be required." 2009 Serafin Morey-St.-Denis 1er Cru "Les Millandes" (Pre-Arrival)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Morey St. Denis Millandes is fabulous. It boasts a great combination of rich, dark fruit and powerful structure. Today the wine is already starting to shut down, something that bodes quite well for the future. Mint, flowers, spices and licorice stain the palate on the deep, resonant finish. This is a brilliant showing from Christian Serafin. (AG)" (4/2012) 92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Outstanding* An almost invisible background soupçon of oak does not interfere with the warm earth and mineral-suffused cool red berry fruit aromas that introduce pure and beautifully detailed m ...Read More »

2009 Domaine Comtesse Bernard de Cherisey Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru "La Genelotte"

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Meursault 1er Cru Blagny La Genelotte is more timorous on the nose compared to the 2010, but no less complex, with tightly wound scents of dried yellow flowers and red apples. The palate sits somewhere in between Meursault and Puligny in style, a hint of hazelnut here, stoniness becoming more pronounced toward the finish, which demonstrates very fine length. 2009 Clos du Moulin aux Moines Pommard 1er Cru "Clos Orgelot" Monopole

This 1er cru vineyard is a monopole of the domaine. The parcel is located above Epenots, between Pézerolles and Clos des Mouches. One-third of the plot was planted in 1921, with the "young" vines planted in 1990 and 1993. The wine spends approximately 20 months in barrel (1/3 new). From the winery (not vintage specific): "Aromas of ripe red fruit and cashew, exotic wood and sandalwood. Its structure is very rich, fleshy and velvety. The finish is firm and of great length."

2009 Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des 60 Ouvrées" (Pre-Arrival)

94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Sweet Spot Outstanding* The ripest nose to this point exhibits liqueur-like notes of plum, blue berry and violets that complement well the equally ripe, opulent and mineral-inflected flavors that are also quite full-bodied, all wrapped in a detailed, vibrant and hugely long finish. The underlying material here is superb and this should easily improve for the next 12 to 15 years and last for an equivalent period thereafter." 2009 Domaine Louis Carillon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Perrieres"

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrieres is another fairly immediate, round wine. With time in the glass the wine opens to reveal pretty layers of fruit. There is an attractive inner minerality here that makes me think the Perrieres isn’t showing all of its cards just yet. This is an attractive, sensual Burgundy that will drink beautifully, especially if given another year or two. Today it is a bit on the simple side. (AG)" (9/2011) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale yellow. White peach and minerals on the nose. Fat on entry, then silky and plush in the middle, with a saline mineralit ...Read More »

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Volnay Champans flows across the palate with the grace of a ballerina. An exotic bouquet melds into expressive red berries, flowers, tobacco and spices. Clean, chalky notes frame the long, beautifully articulated finish. The tension and sheer energy here is fabulous. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. (AG)" (04/2012)

2009 Domaine de Montille Pommard 1er Cru "Les Grands Epenots"

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A discrete touch of wood sets off a seductively spicy nose of warm earth, floral notes and red currant that leads to very fresh and pure medium weight plus flavors that possess plenty of mid-palate concentration on the delicious, intense and lingering finish. This is not a big Epenots by the standards of the appellation but there is excellent flavor authority and I very much like the sophisticated mouth feel. Recommended." There is good richness to the refined, detailed and lightly mineral-infused flavors that are shaped by a firm lashing of ripe tannins and noticeable finishing austerity on the long and mouth coating finish. A serious Nuits." (5/2011) 90-92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(vinified with 100% whole clusters; racked) Medium red. 2009 Domaine Jean Grivot Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Aux Boudots"

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Outstanding!" In 2009, the nose is more Vosne than Nuits with ample amounts of spice to the very ripe liqueur of cassis and red cherries that gives way to highly complex, intense and concentrated medium weight plus flavors that culminate in a rich, suave and superbly long finish. This is right at the limit of what I personally prefer in terms of ripeness but many will find this to be highly seductive." (1/2012) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Nuits St. Georges Aux Boudots, from a parcel next to Malconsorts in Vosne, exudes a deep, baritone expression of dark fruit. 2009 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru

This is actually relatively expressive and approachable for a young Cham yet the balance and harmony is present for this to age for decades. Chocolate, herbs, licorice and nutty oak on the nose; seems a bit advanced. Then lush and quite sweet but loose-knit, showing an almost candied character to its medicinal dark fruit flavors. Plenty of texture here but I wanted more energy and lift." (1/2013)

2009 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru "Fremiets" (Pre-Arrival)

The minerality is so strong that there is a Chablis-like saline character. A classy effort of finesse. Knockout nose combines raspberry, crushed stone, spicy oak, minerals and leather. Wonderfully tangy and delineated but at the same time seamless, with superb energy and concentration to its raspberry and spice flavors. Finishes very long and scented, with substantial fine tannins. A wine of great finesse: this would provide fodder for those who believe this vineyard is capable of performing at grand cru level. (ST)" (01/2011)

This is not as powerful as the other Nuits 1ers in the range but it's easily the most refined and will almost certainly mature earlier as well." 2009 Arnoux Lachaux Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (1.5L)

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate wood sets off ripe and intensely earthy aromas of red berries and plum that precede the rich, supple and relatively accessible middle weight flavors where very firm tannins provide structure and shape to the impressively long finish. Clos de Vougeot is often quite austere in its youth and while there is a trace, there is less than usual. Note that this will require patience." (1/2011)

There is good energy to the intense and admirably rich full-bodied flavors that envelope the palate with velvety sap on the beautifully balanced and impressively persistent finish. Bid on this bottle of 2009 J.-F. Coche Dury Meursault "Rougeots" (94RP, 94ST, 92BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Raphael served this 2009 Meursault les Rougeot blind following my tasting through his 2012s. It has a gorgeous waxy, honeysuckle bouquet with apricot blossom and fig jam aromas. It is exotic compared to the Coche-Dury style, but you won't complain. The palate is very intense with great concentration, superb acidity and layers of walnut-tinged citrus fruit that fan out wonderfully on the finish. It is a fabulous wine, one of the finest Meursault Rougeot that I have tasted from the domaine. (NM)" (06/2015)

Then silky and soft on the palate, with lovely inner-mouth perfume to the cherry, earth and saline flavors. A bigger wine than the nose suggests but not at all heavy. Finishes silky and long, with rather suave tannins. A very good showing.
