Loaded with mineral-laced blackberry fruit, earth, wild herbs and roasted meat-like aromas and flavors, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness and depth, bright acidity and stunning purity of fruit. Spicy, energetic and sharply focused on the palate, offering concentrated bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors that open up slowly with air. Distinctly northern Rhône in personality and texture, featuring a peppery, floral-dominated finish, smooth tannins and excellent closing thrust and persistence. 2009 Domaine de la Jaufrette Châteauneuf-du-Pape

According to the importer, Paris Wine Company: "The wines of Domaine de la Jaufrette are resolutely old-fashioned, as the domaine has refused to change the winemaking style since the André and Paulette Chastan moved to Orange in the 1950s... Today, the Domaine de la Jaufrette is run by Alain’s son Frederic, who has maintained the same traditional winemaking philosophy. Vinification is a slow process - the fermentation occurs naturally in large concrete tanks, where the wine is allowed to sit for up to a year. It is then aged in a mix of used foudres and ... 2011 Chateau Juvenal "La Terre Petit du Homme" Cotes du Ventoux

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "...The 2011 Cotes du Ventoux La Terre du Petit Homme offers awesome aromas and flavors of roasted herbs, melted licorice, earth and black cherry-styled fruit in a medium to full-bodied, deep, layered and rich profile. Gorgeous all around, with excellent mid-palate depth and sweet tannin, it’s another smoking value from this producer that readers need to check out. One of the up-and-coming producers in the Cotes du Ventoux appellation, Chateau Juvenal is co-owned by Anne-Marie and Bernard Forestier, and Sebastien Alban. 2013 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Top Pick!
2013 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape

92-94 points Vinous: "Inky ruby. Expressive aromas of cherry, black raspberry, licorice and smoky minerals, with a dark chocolate element building slowly. Then tightly wound and focused on the palate, offering intense flavors of dark berries, bitter cherry and candied flowers. Powerful but at the same time quite elegant, finishing with wonderful clarity and length and smooth tannins. (JR)" (4/2015) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape is a beauty and has a rare level of concentration and depth in the vintage. Blueberry, crushed flowers, pepper, and violet aromas and flavors flow nicely ...Read More »

2012 Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin, which I was able to taste (and drink) from multiple bottles, is a beautiful Grenache that comes from the cooler, northeastern edge of the appellation. Coming almost all from the Chapouin lieu-dit (it gets a small bit from La Janasse), it gives up the classic notes of black berries, spring flowers, violets, and licorice that I always seem to find in this cuvee. Building nicely on the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, has tons of sweet fruit and solid, if not firm, tannin that come out on ...Read More »

2014 Coudoulet de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône Blanc

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A white I normally buy by the case, the 2014 Coudolet de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône Blanc is a mix of Clairette, Bourboulenc, Viognier and Marsanne that offers lots of citrus blossom, lemon zest and hints of apple in a medium-bodied, racy style on the palate. More racy and lively on the palate than the nose would have you believe... (JD)" (10/2015)

2013 Bernard Levet "La Chavaroche" Côte-Rôtie

95 points Vinous: "Brilliant violet. An explosively perfumed bouquet displays intense black and blue fruit liqueur, incense, olive and floral pastille scents underscored by a smoky mineral quality. Broad, weighty and surprisingly lithe on the palate; sweet, palate-coating blueberry, cherry cola and candied violet flavors show superb concentration and energy thanks to a spine of juicy acidity and repeating minerality. Strikingly vibrant, seamless and persistent on the finish, where the mineral and floral notes emphatically repeat. (JR)" (3/2016) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "While no 2012 was presented, I ...Read More »

2012 E. Guigal Hermitage Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing similar to last year, the 2012 Hermitage Blanc (which doesn’t include the grapes that went into the Ex Voto) is a fabulous white that gives up classical notes of acacia flowers, buttered citrus, wood smoke and crushed rock. Medium to full-bodied, rich, textured and layered, it will have another decade of thrilling drinking. (JD)" (12/2015) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Rich, almost unctuous in feel, with melon, apricot and glazed peach flavors layered with notes of orange sabayon and singed hazelnut. Cuts a long and broad swath through the finish, showing lingering paraffin and ...Read More »
