2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel’s 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out even better out of bottle than I predicted. An inky/ruby/purple color is followed by a glorious nose of blue and black fruits, truffles, pen ink, licorice, and meat juices as well as glorious levels of acidity and sweet tannin, buttressing the fruit’s fabulous freshness and vibrancy. This full-bodied effort still displays considerable tannin, no doubt because of the relatively high Mourvedre content. It should resolve its tannins in 2-4 years, and last for 25 or more. 2007 Tardieu-Laurent "Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Wine Spectator: "This is crammed with a massive core of blueberry compote, braised fig and mulled blackberry and boysenberry fruit flavors, all wound up with graphite tannins and backed by a strong, iron-filled spine. This has serious depth and drive, with gorgeous mocha and espresso aromatics flittering throughout. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2010 through 2024. (JM)" (11/2009) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is fashioned from old vine Grenache (90%) and the rest Syrah and Mourvedre, the last two components aged in new oak. The fruit comes from pa ...Read More »

2007 Domaine Santa Duc "Grand Grenache 66" Gigondas

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The newest wine is an amazing effort and could easily rival, if not eclipse the Hautes Garrigues with 5-6 years of bottle age. The 2007 Gigondas Grand Grenache 66 comes from some of the oldest Grenache vines Yves Gras has. The color is inky purple, and the wine more backward than the Les Hautes Garrigues, which is somewhat surprising. Notes of crushed rocks (chalk), kirsch, and blacker fruits intermixed with hints of truffle and forest floor are followed by a full-bodied, sensationally concentrated wine with massive extract and high tannins. This wine ha ...Read More »

2007 M. Chapoutier "Barbe Rac" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Barbe Rac, which comes from the western part of the appellation from a vineyard planted in 1901 and 1902, is, like the Croix de Bois, 100% Grenache aged totally in cement tanks. It boasts a dense purple color along with a sumptuous nose of black raspberries, black currants, incense, camphor, licorice, and garrigue. Full-bodied, voluptuously-textured, exuberant, rich, and pure with stunning depth and concentration, it can be drunk young or cellared for 15-20 years. 2007 Clos du Mont Olivet "La Cuvée du Papet" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape La Cuvee du Papet may will turn out to be their finest example since the 1998 and 1990. Stylistically, it probably comes closest to resembling the legendary 1990. Notes of roasted meats and smoked duck, with Provencal herbs, truffle, incense, licorice, and pepper, are all there, plus enormous quantities of red and black fruits. This is one heck of a complex wine, with a bouquet that is the essence of southern France, in particular Provence. Full-bodied, powerful, with the glycerin and level of richness covering some lofty tan ...Read More »

2007 M. Chapoutier "Croix de Bois" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Croix de Bois comes from the eastern sector of Chateauneuf du Pape near Bedarrides. Its dense plum/purple color is accompanied by a big, sweet bouquet of licorice, roasted Provencal herbs, meat juices, kirsch, black raspberries, and black currants. Deep, full-bodied, and rich, this beauty is ideal for drinking over the next 10-15+ years. (RP)" (10/2009) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Dark and lush, with braised fig and hoisin sauce notes backed by tar, graphite and espresso. The long, muscular finish lets the graphite edge play out. There's ample grip for t ...Read More »

2007 Domaine Durieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sleeper of the vintage, the reasonably priced 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape is a blend of 80% Grenache and the rest primarily Mourvedre and a small amount of Syrah. The Grenache is aged in concrete vats, and the Syrah and Mourvedre spend time in small barrels. This dense ruby/purple-colored 2007 exhibits a big, sweet nose of white chocolate, black currants, garrigue, pepper, and Asian spices, supple tannins, a deep, full-bodied mouthfeel, and good freshness as well as precision. It is a hefty yet elegant Chateauneuf du Pape that should drink nicely for 10-1 ...Read More »

2007 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "With no Reserve bottling in the vintage, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape incorporates all of the top plots of the estate. An incredible wine that’s always performed brilliantly any time I’ve opened a bottle, it gives up layered, ripe aromas and flavors of black raspberry, crushed violets, black licorice and graphite (the wine see only very old foudre and no new oak? ever) to go with a voluptuous, concentrated and structured personality. While there’s no shortage of tannin here, they’re sweet, polished and integrated. Give it another year or two and drink it ...Read More »

2007 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape (99RP, 97WS, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the top wines in this incredible vintage is Avril's 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape, which is the normal blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah and the rest of mix of permitted varieties. Brought up all in older foudre, it's a blockbuster, almost over-the-top, effort that gives up notes of kirsch, incense, dried flowers, spice and pepper. 2007 Château Simian "Les Grandes Grenachieres d'Hippolyte" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An astonishing effort, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Grandes Grenachieres comes from a combination of Grenache vines planted in 1880, and younger vines planted in 1948. An incredible sleeper of the vintage to the extent anyone can find any of the 350 or so cases produced, it boasts a dense ruby/purple color in addition to an awesome aromatic display of spring flowers, sweet black raspberries and black cherries, and forest floor. 2007 Domaine de Ferrand Châteauneuf-du-Pape

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I've had numerous incredible bottles of the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape, but there is some variability with this cuvee as well and some do have a spritz. That wasn't the case with this bottle, however, and it was just about as good as it gets. Full-bodied, multi-dimensional, layered, massively concentrated, yet graceful and elegant, with to-die-for notes of incense, garrigue, pepper and sweet red and black fruits, this quintessential Chateauneuf du Pape is almost impossible to find in the market today, but it's well worth the effort to track down! 2007 Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie (Pre-Arrival)

Lots of bitter cherry and charred apple wood drive through the very long finish, which is thoroughly mouthwatering thanks to its acidity. Best from 2013 through 2025. (JM)" (2/2012) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby. Vibrant aromas of blackberry, kirsch, licorice, violet and smoky Indian spices. This powerhouse boasts stunning levels of kirsch, garrigue, pepper and framboise, a big, full-bodied mouthfeel and super freshness, purity and overall equilibrium. It will benefit from another several years of bottle age ... 2007 M. Chapoutier "Les Granits" St-Joseph Blanc (Pre-Arrival)

94-96 points Robert Parker: "The 2007 St.-Joseph Les Granits blanc exhibits exotic notes of orange marmalade, tropical fruits, honeysuckle, and citrus, and a more earthy component than the 2006. It may reveal less minerality and more obvious fruit and flamboyance." (04/09) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Lush up-front, with creamed pear, ginger, brioche and green almond notes that give way to a racy edge on the mouthwaterting, floral-tinged finish. 2007 Domaine Janasse "Chaupin" Chateauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Showing a smidge of worrisome volatile acidity, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin nevertheless has off-the-hook levels of richness and depth. Spring flowers, blackberry, cassis, licorice, violets and white pepper are all present here, and it’s a massive wine on the palate, with big fruit, a voluptuous texture and a great finish. After this tasting, I pulled a bottle from my cellar (purchased on release), and it was firing on all cylinders, with not a hint of VA, so this appears to be an isolated issue." 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The incredible 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Quartz is – aside from the otherworldly 2001 – the greatest example of this cuvee I’ve tasted. Full-bodied, deep, rich and concentrated, it’s also seamless and elegant, with killer black raspberry, cassis, lavender, crushed flowers and exotic spices all soaring from the glass. Still showing a youthful, unevolved profile, with serious concentration, it is approachable now due to its wealth of the texture, yet will continue to evolve gracefully. 2007 Château Rayas "Réservé" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Château Rayas "Réservé" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (98RP, 97ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I think the Rayas 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape will turn out to eclipse the 2005. It is unequivocally the finest wine made here since Emmanuel Reynaud’s uncle, the late Jacques Reynaud, produced his brilliant 1995. This wine was just released this year, with the 2008 coming on the market in the next few months. The 2007 is a relatively dark ruby/purple-tinged wine, more intensely colored than most Rayas Chateauneufs tend to be, since they are made from 100% Grenache and color has never been one of their hallmarks. The extraordinarily youthful and still burgeoning aromatics of black raspberries, black cherries, truffles and licorice lead to a full-bodied, powerful Rayas with sweet tannin, adequate acidity, and an ethereal richness and unctuosity that delicately offers a sensual texture ... 2007 Les Cailloux (Lucien et André Brunel) "Cuvée Centenaire" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Two brilliant successes are Brunel’s cuvees of 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape. His limited cuvee of approximately 500 cases of the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Centenaire (made from 80% Grenache aged in foudre, and the balance Syrah and Mourvedre aged in one- to three-year-old small barrels) comes primarily from a parcel of 120-year-old vines in the northern part of the appellation in the lieu-dit known as Farguerol. This cuvee has only been made in vintages such as 1989, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, and now 2007. Deep ruby/purple in color ...Read More »

2007 Clos Saint-Jean "Deus Ex Machina" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (2 bottle limit) (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Like the 2010, the still inky colored 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Deus ex Machina is as good as it gets. Both incredibly decadent and elegant at the same time, it offers outrageous aromas of mulled blackberries, cured meats, spring flowers and exotic spices to go with a full bodied, seamless, layered, yet massively constructed profile on the palate. Showing the depth and texture of this phenomenal vintage, it’s a monumental effort that’s still an infant in terms of development. 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "We finished the tasting with the 2007 Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve des Célestins, which had been recently bottled. It’s a classic 2007 that has overflowing kirsch, sweet black cherry, garrigue, incense and ground pepper aromas and flavors. Sexy, supple and hedonistic, it’s one mouthful of a Châteauneuf that has no shortage of sweet fruit, texture or length. And given this showing, there’s certainly no harm in drinking this in its youth either. (JD)" (10/2014) 96 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby. I have not only tasted this wine at the estate, but I purchased it for my cellar, and have now drunk it on three separate occasions out of bottle.
