2007 Clos du Mont Olivet "La Cuvée du Papet" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Flirting with perfection, the utterly profound 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape la Cuvee du Papet is up there with some of the greatest Chateauneuf du Papes ever made. A huge, classically styled and Provencal wine, it offers layers of garrigue, black currants, licorice, beef blood and leather, as well as building tannin, a stacked mid-palate and a finish that just won’t quit. Made from 70% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah that was not destemmed, it was aged in equal parts concrete tanks and ancient foudre. It’s still an infant, with sweet tannin, and needs ...Read More »

2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel’s 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out even better out of bottle than I predicted. An inky/ruby/purple color is followed by a glorious nose of blue and black fruits, truffles, pen ink, licorice, and meat juices as well as glorious levels of acidity and sweet tannin, buttressing the fruit’s fabulous freshness and vibrancy. This full-bodied effort still displays considerable tannin, no doubt because of the relatively high Mourvedre content. It should resolve its tannins in 2-4 years, and last for 25 or more. 2007 Domaine de Ferrand Châteauneuf-du-Pape

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the wines of the vintage is the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape from Philippe Bravey, and I’ve drunk more than a case of this wine and have consistently rated it at the upper end of the spectrum (however, some bottles suffer from too much volatile acidity). Big, full-bodied, layered and unctuous, it has a huge nose of garrigue, black fruits, saddle leather and licorice. I absolutely love this wine and would happily drink bottles over the coming decade. (JD)" (2/2017) 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Expressive aromas of raspberry, cherry, blood orange and dried flowers, with ...Read More »

2007 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Réservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee (of which I was lucky to find a magnum on a Paris bistro’s wine list a week after my tasting at the estate) is a brilliant effort that ranks alongside the colossal 2003 Cuvee Reservee. A blend of approximately 85% Grenache, 8-9% Syrah, and the rest Mourvedre and other varietals from 50-100+ year old vines aged in foudre, it exhibits a dense plum/purple color along with a big, sweet bouquet of beef blood, grilled herbs, barbecue smoke, lavender, sweet cassis and kirsch and a hint of Asian soy. The wine possesses ...Read More »

Of the 2007 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "One of the top wines in this incredible vintage is Avril's 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape, which is the normal blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah and the rest of mix of permitted varieties. Brought up all in older foudre, it's a blockbuster, almost over-the-top, effort that gives up notes of kirsch, incense, dried flowers, spice and pepper. 2007 Domaine de la Charbonnière "Cuvée Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "My notes on the dense ruby/purple-colored 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Vieilles Vignes (95% Grenache and 5% Mourvedre from 80-year-old vines) begin with the words 'serious stuff.' Deep, rich, and full-bodied with abundant notes of forest floor, truffles, earth, kirsch, raspberries, and black currants, this powerful, layered, multidimensional, long, ageworthy wine should drink well between 2012-2028. 2007 Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2007 Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Vieux Telegraphe may be the greatest wine made at this property since the 2005 and 1998. Dense ruby/purple-tinged with an exquisite nose of salty sea breezes, licorice, ground pepper, jammy black cherries, black currants, figs, and plums, this is a full-bodied, rich, Provencal-styled offering with lots of sweet, ripe tannin. It is surprisingly accessible for a Vieux Telegraphe (this wine normally shuts down several years after bottling), but it should have great longevity (25+ years) given its power, full-bodied mouthfeel, and enormous length an ...Read More »

2007 Cuvée du Vatican "Reserve Sixtine" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I loved the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Réserve Sixtine, and this is probably the finest example of this cuvee since the 2003. Made from 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah and the rest Mourvèdre, destemmed and aged in a mix of foudre, old barrels and small amounts of new barrels, it offers terrific purity in its black raspberry and cassis fruits, melted licorice and cured meat aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness, beautiful mid-palate density and no hard edges, it’s a joy to drink today but will certainly keep for another decade or more. 2007 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A beautiful wine that's just now hitting maturity, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape from Jean-Paul Daumen is still ruby colored to the rim and offers up a classic bouquet of black raspberries, black licorice, fruit cake, garrigue and roasted meats. Full-bodied and concentrated, yet with a seamless, impeccably balanced profile, it's drinking beautifully today but has another 10-15 years of overall longevity. This has serious depth and drive, with gorgeous mocha and espresso aromatics flittering throughout. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2010 through 2024. (JM)" (11/2009) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is fashioned from old vine Grenache (90%) and the rest Syrah and Mourvedre, the last two components aged in new oak. 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Barbe Rac, which comes from the western part of the appellation from a vineyard planted in 1901 and 1902, is, like the Croix de Bois, 100% Grenache aged totally in cement tanks. It boasts a dense purple color along with a sumptuous nose of black raspberries, black currants, incense, camphor, licorice, and garrigue. 2007 Château Simian "Les Grandes Grenachieres d'Hippolyte" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An astonishing effort, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Grandes Grenachieres comes from a combination of Grenache vines planted in 1880, and younger vines planted in 1948. An incredible sleeper of the vintage to the extent anyone can find any of the 350 or so cases produced, it boasts a dense ruby/purple color in addition to an awesome aromatic display of spring flowers, sweet black raspberries and black cherries, and forest floor. Its dense plum/purple color is accompanied by a big, sweet bouquet of licorice, roasted Provencal herbs, meat juices, kirsch, black raspberries, and black currants. The Grenache is aged in concrete vats, and the Syrah and Mourvedre spend time in small barrels. This dense ruby/purple-colored 2007 exhibits a big, sweet nose of white chocolate, black currants, garrigue, pepper, and Asian spices, supple tannins, a deep, full-bodied mouthfeel, and good freshness as well as precision. Lots of bitter cherry and charred apple wood drive through the very long finish, which is thoroughly mouthwatering thanks to its acidity. Best from 2013 through 2025. (JM)" (2/2012) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby. Vibrant aromas of blackberry, kirsch, licorice, violet and smoky Indian spices. Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2007 Lucien & André Brunel "Les Cailloux" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (93RP, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Two brilliant successes are Brunel’s cuvees of 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape. The 2007 Les Cailloux Tradition (a blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 12% Syrah, and 3% other authorized varieties) comes from 60-year-old vines and is aged completely in tank except for the Mourvedre and Syrah components, which are kept in small barrels. Explosively fruity, this dense plum/purple-colored wine displays grilled meat notes intermixed with Provencal herbs, spice box, black cherry and black currant, in addition to having a lush, opulent texture. 2007 Pierre Usseglio "Cuvée de Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The thickest, richest and most extravagant Cuvee du Mon Aieul ever produced is unquestionably the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul! Almost all old-vine Grenache brought up in tank (no new wood), it tastes like the raw essence of Grenache and has off-the-hook aromas and flavors of black raspberries, cassis, cured meats, licorice and incense. Possessing a rock-star texture, no hard edges and beautiful concentration, it’s drinking nicely now, and should continue to evolve gracefully for another decade. 2007 Les Cailloux (Lucien et André Brunel) "Cuvée Centenaire" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

His limited cuvee of approximately 500 cases of the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Centenaire (made from 80% Grenache aged in foudre, and the balance Syrah and Mourvedre aged in one- to three-year-old small barrels) comes primarily from a parcel of 120-year-old vines in the northern part of the appellation in the lieu-dit known as Farguerol. This cuvee has only been made in vintages such as 1989, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, and now 2007. Deep ruby/purple in color ...Read More »

Dense purple to the rim, with an exquisite nose of charcoal, blueberry and blackberry fruit, chalk, and floral notes, the wine is rich, full-bodied, with sensational concentration, admirable purity, and beautiful texture and length. Both incredibly decadent and elegant at the same time, it offers outrageous aromas of mulled blackberries, cured meats, spring flowers and exotic spices to go with a full bodied, seamless, layered, yet massively constructed profile on the palate. Smoky dark fruit flavors are framed by chewy tannins and pick up sweeter red berry qualities with air.
