2007 Château Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2007 Château Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel’s 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out even better out of bottle than I predicted. An inky/ruby/purple color is followed by a glorious nose of blue and black fruits, truffles, pen ink, licorice, and meat juices as well as glorious levels of acidity and sweet tannin, buttressing the fruit’s fabulous freshness and vibrancy. This full-bodied effort still displays considerable tannin, no doubt because of the relatively high Mourvedre content. It should resolve its tannins in 2-4 years, and last for 25 or more. One of the great estates of the ...Read More »

2007 Château de Montfaucon Côtes du Rhône

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A new discovery for me, the 2007 Cotes du Rhone (a 4,000+-case blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Cinsault, and Counoise) is a seriously built, concentrated, powerful effort displaying notes of garrigue, pepper, lavender, kirsch, and black currants. It also exhibits that wonderful seaweed wrapper (nori) scent that seems to be a characteristic of many southern Rhone wines. This full-bodied Cotes du Rhone will benefit from another 1-2 years of cellaring, and should drink well for 7-8 years." (10/2009) Wine Enthusiast: "The nose is opulently fruity, with strawberry top notes ...Read More »

2007 Domaine St. Pierre "Plan de Dieu" Côtes du Rhône Villages

The Plan de Dieu is recognized as one of the noblest soils in the whole of the Cotes du Rhone. The ground is very stony, which acts as a filter, and it is sensitive to drought. This is the favored land of high quality grenache and mourvedre.

2007 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "With no Reserve bottling in the vintage, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape incorporates all of the top plots of the estate. An incredible wine that’s always performed brilliantly any time I’ve opened a bottle, it gives up layered, ripe aromas and flavors of black raspberry, crushed violets, black licorice and graphite (the wine see only very old foudre and no new oak? ever) to go with a voluptuous, concentrated and structured personality. While there’s no shortage of tannin here, they’re sweet, polished and integrated. Give it another year or two and drink it over the following decade. (JD)" (08/2014)

2007 Clos Saint-Jean "La Combe des Fous" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Previously $400)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "On another level, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Combe des Fous is a monumental bottle of wine that-s hardly budged since I first tasted it on release. Giving up heavenly aromas and flavors of black raspberries, cassis, incense, cured meats and exotic spices, this incredible effort flows onto the palate with a layered, impeccably balanced profile that carries massive concentration, polished tannin and a crazy length. Despite searching for something to be critical of, I came up empty. (JD)" (8/2014) 96 points Wine Spectator: "This has gorgeous aromas and mouthfeel, with freshly brewed ...Read More »

2007 Roger Sabon "Reserve" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Revealing a deeper, more saturated ruby/purple color, the full-bodied 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve exhibits plenty of glycerin, a multilayered texture, and a sensational combination of rich black currant and kirsch fruit intermixed with licorice, roasted herb, and forest floor notes. A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Cinsault aged in both foudre and old demi-muids... (AG)" (10/2009) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Opaque ruby. 2007 Domaine de la Mordorée "Reine des Bois" Chateauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Not surprisingly, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape La Reine des Bois is another prodigious offering from this estate. A blend of 80% Grenache and the rest equal parts Mourvedre, Syrah, Counoise, and Vacarrese, it was aged 50% in stainless steel tanks and 50% in small oak barrels. The result is an inky/blue/purple-colored wine displaying a formidable nose of graphite, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cherries, licorice, and violets. Full-bodied with exquisite depth, impressive purity, and a multilayered, sumptuous finish with moderate tannin, its purit ...Read More »

2007 Bosquet des Papes "Chante le Merle Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Bosquet des Papes "Chante le Merle Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (95RP, 93WS, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes comes from extremely old vines (90-100 years of age), includes 100% whole clusters, and was aged in both neutral foudres and demi-muids. Exhibiting the deepest color as well as the greatest concentration of this quartet, it appears to be the finest example of this cuvee since the prodigious 1990. Terrific notes of licorice, incense, seaweed wrappers, black raspberries, blackberries, and cherries are present in the incredibly complex aromatic display. Deep and full-bodied with lots of roasted herb and meat juice-like characteristics, this big, extravagantly rich, full-bodied wine possesses silky tannins as well as a finish that lasts nearly 50 seconds. It should drink well for two decades. (RP)" (10/2009)

2007 Tardieu-Laurent "Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Wine Spectator: "This is crammed with a massive core of blueberry compote, braised fig and mulled blackberry and boysenberry fruit flavors, all wound up with graphite tannins and backed by a strong, iron-filled spine. This has serious depth and drive, with gorgeous mocha and espresso aromatics flittering throughout. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2010 through 2024. (JM)" (11/2009) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is fashioned from old vine Grenache (90%) and the rest Syrah and Mourvedre, the last two components aged in new oak. The fruit comes from pa ...Read More »

2007 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée da Capo" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For the fourth time, the Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee da Capo has been produced, and for the fourth time, it has received a perfect score although I might back off the 2000's perfect score based on the fact that it seems to be more of an upper-ninety point wine than pure perfection these days. The 2007 may come closest in style to the 1998, the debut vintage, although the tannins are sweeter and the wine is perhaps fatter and richer in the mouth... An inky/purple color is followed by aromas of smoked meats, Peking duck, licorice, lavender, aged beef, grille ...Read More »

2007 André Brunel "Les Cailloux" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L)
Bid on this 3-magnum lot of 2007 André Brunel "Les Cailloux" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (95RP, 93ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I think the finest vintage for the classic cuvee ever, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape is a sensational blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 12% Syrah and the balance other permitted varieties. Aged mostly in tank, it offers a massive array of smoked herbs, lavender, black raspberries, toasted nuts, truffle and garrigue. Full-bodied, ripe, decadent and concentrated, it has slightly less structure than the '09, but has more raw material. This flat-out awesome Chateauneuf will have 20 years of longevity. 2007 Les Cailloux (Lucien et André Brunel) "Cuvée Centenaire" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Two brilliant successes are Brunel’s cuvees of 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape. His limited cuvee of approximately 500 cases of the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Centenaire (made from 80% Grenache aged in foudre, and the balance Syrah and Mourvedre aged in one- to three-year-old small barrels) comes primarily from a parcel of 120-year-old vines in the northern part of the appellation in the lieu-dit known as Farguerol. This cuvee has only been made in vintages such as 1989, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, and now 2007. Deep ruby/purple in color ...Read More »

2007 Domaine de la Janasse "XXL" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A curiosity is the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape XXL, a blend of 95% Grenache and 5% Mourvedre that fermented for nearly three years. Bottled earlier this year, it reminds me of some of the Cuvee Speciales that Henri Bonneau made, particularly the 1990 and 1998. One would think it might taste like an Amarone, but in fact, it doesn’t. It is a very thick, unctuously-textured, over-the-top wine with unbelievable concentration that is technically dry, even though the alcohol level is extraordinarily high. Only 1,400 bottles were produced. Several California Rhone ...Read More »

2007 Thierry Allemand "Reynard" Cornas (Pre-Arrival)

92-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky purple. Deeper and more powerful on the nose than the Chaillot, displaying pungent aromas of cassis, boysenberry, violet, dark chocolate and licorice. Surprisingly lithe on the palate following the richness of the nose, offering vibrant dark berry flavors and a note of refreshingly bitter cherry skin. Turns spicier with air, finishing with strong cut and a persistent floral quality. I really like this wine's blend of masculine character and vibrancy. (JR)" (1/2010) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Dark, with lots of mulled plum and currant fruit, but racy, with anise, graphite and ta ...Read More »
