2010 Louise Brison Brut Champagne

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Fermented in oak, this wine with its crisp apple aroma is ripe and spicy. It has great citrus and white fruit plus a dry character that gives it both a tang and a mineral texture. (RV)" (12/2017) K&L Notes: Floral, citrus-y, and with a touch of salinity, this Champagne is a blend of 50 % Pinot Noir & 50 % Chardonnay, vinified and aged in oak barrels. 2005 Bodegas Puelles Gran Reserva Rioja Top Pick!
2005 Bodegas Puelles Gran Reserva Rioja

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Gran Reserva can also do with some decanting in advance as it has some reductive aromas when first poured after opening. After that it has some notes of hung game, spices, beef blood, iron, tea leaves and peat showing mostly as tertiary aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, with a fine thread of acidity going through its spine that is laced with fine tannins. It is quite easy to drink and quite a good price for a Gran Reserva. 2007 Tronquoy-Lalande, St-Estèphe

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Plum and black currant fruit intermixed with notions of herbs, licorice, and spice box are found in this round, ample, easy-going, silky-textured 2007. (RP)" (4/2010) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good red-ruby color. Red berries, licorice, flowers and spices on the nose. Supple and sweet, with red berry fruit complicated by herbs and black olive. Finishes with suave, smooth, nicely ripe tannins. Tronquoy-Lalande was purchased in late 2006 by the Bouygues group, the new owners of Chateau Montrose, who installed Jean-Bernard Delmas as director here as well. (ST)" (5/2008)

2008 La Rioja Alta "Viña Ardanza" Reserva Rioja Top Pick!
2008 La Rioja Alta "Viña Ardanza" Reserva Rioja

95 points Decanter: "The best classic style of Grenache and Tempranillo pulling together joyful fruit expression and serious depth. In the mouth it is amazingly complex and so unique. A benchmark Rioja blend. SJE: A rich, sweet and savoury Reserva style with all the red cherries and a strong Grenache influence. It is somewhat old-fashioned, in a good way, with plentiful integrated oak and a fine rasp of tannin. PM: This has a wonderful oxidative style, giving it a superb savoury nose of leather. 2004 Haut-Bergey, Pessac-Léognan

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A top-notch effort from proprietress Helene Garcin, Haut-Bergey’s 2004 exhibits an evolved, cedary, smoky, tobacco, and sweet cherry-scented bouquet offered in a medium-bodied, supple-textured style. (RP)" (6/2007) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Red-ruby. Sexy, rather wild aromas of roasted raspberry and game. Supple but firm-edged, with good grip to the raspberry and mineral flavors. There's good fruit here but limited fat and a restrained sweetness. (ST)" (6/2007)

2009 Baron-Fuenté "Grand Millesime" Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2009 Baron-Fuenté "Grand Millesime" Brut Champagne

This all estate grown gem from Baron Fuente is composed of 45% Chardonnay, 40% Meunier, and 15% Pinot Noir from around Charly-sur-Marne. This drinks great right now because of the wonderfully ripe 2009 vintage in Champagne, but will also keep great in good storage over the medium term. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

2008 Louise Brison "Cuvée Tendresse" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Blanc de Blancs Brut Tendresse is 100% Chardonnay vinified in oak. The wine opens with a deep, clear and fresh as well as intense and complex bouquet of ripe and stewed apples, cinnamon, chalk, grey bread and toast. Full-bodied yet fine, straight, very dry and fresh on the palate (the wine only partly underwent malolactic fermentation), this is a remarkable, pure and elegant Blanc de Blancs that possesses a slightly oxidative style with a very clear and well-structured finish. This sparkler is a pretty complex aperitif and should go well with se ...Read More »

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "From 2009, Labégorce-Zédé will no longer exist, being amalgamated with Château Labégorce-Margaux. So this 2007 is one of the last vintages. The wine has solid but lively black fruits, the tannins dark, firm and full of blackberry juice flavors with a touch of cranberry dryness. It is definitely for aging. (RV)" (6/2010) Wine Spectator: "Delicate aromas of currant and flowers follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and an aftertaste of licorice and delicate berry. Fresh and elegant. 2009 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne Top Pick!

Gorgeous aromas of cream, apple, mango, honeysuckle, and chalk follow through to a full body and super fine, tight texture. Dense and agile. Vinous. It’s like a top grand cru white Burgundy. Think Batard-Montrachet. More depth than the 2006." (7/2017) 96 points Decanter: "Unbroken sun through August and early September helped to shape an idyllic harvest, on 12th September. (4/1995) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted from the Château reserves at the estate. The ’89 is a little lighter in hue compared to the Suduiraut ’90. 2005 Langoa-Barton, St-Julien

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Château Langoa Barton 2005 offers plenty of concentration on the nose: blackberries, blueberry, a touch of cedar and tobacco emerging from the glass, opening and gaining intensity all the time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. This is beautifully balanced in the mouth, perhaps just a little conservative but with great precision and length. It has the freshness and vitality to be approachable now, though I would prefer to leave this for another 4 or 5 years. (7/2017) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 Viña Tondonia Reserva is a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacho, 5% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo from their vineyards in the meander of the Ebro River, where they have some 100 hectares of vineyards. Can Mayol, which bottles under the trademarked name "Loxarel," is a winery that has farmed organically for 15 years. The Mitjan family, owners of Can Mayol, also employ some biodynamic treatments. They keep animals, including chickens, a horse and a donkey named Garnatxa. While the focus is on "Brut Nature" (no dosage added) sparkling wine production, they also produce some very interesting still wines. It has a conservative nose with rosemary and undergrowth scents that open nicely in the glass, but retain a sense of classicism. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, lightly spiced red berry fruit, sage and white pepper, quite persistent on the finish, which feels very pure. What an outstanding 2006 Claret - a Cantemerle that punches well above its weight. Tasted April 2016. Lots of fruit with a tropical fruit undertone of mango and papaya on the palate. Intense finish." (7/2013) 97 points Wine Spectator: "Delivers lots of botrytis spice, with lemon tart and cooked apple. Full-bodied, with loads of cream and vanilla and an intense tropical fruit and honey aftertaste. Despite this, it is hallmark Krug with its oxidative profile. It has a luminous freshness and good density without heaviness. There’s a controlled power to this poised, vinous, linear 2004, displaying candied fruits, minerals, gingerbread, white chocolate, caramel and marzipan. A wine of great intensity, yet incredibly ethereal elegance, this light greenish gold-colored wine is full-bodied, stunningly rich, and altogether remarkable. It feels effervescent and it makes you salivate. This is usually a blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 5% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo from 50-year-old vines that ferments in ancient oak vats, and ages in barrel for three years. Vinified all in older barrels and aged 6 years in bottle on lees, it boasts a deep, rich, creamy style as well as full-bodied notes of ripe stone fruits, wood smoke, and spice. Winery Notes: "Riesling grapes from fine, old vineyards around Langenlois and nearby areas such as Zöbing, Gobelsburg, Schiltern and Mollands. Both young and old vines for the wine grow mainly in gneiss soils. The rest are nurtured in gravel and loess soils (Gobelsburg). The grapes were hand-selected in the middle of October. The Riesling then went through a short maceration where it was whole-bunch pressed for 12 hours. After fermentation in steel tanks the wine was racked and then matured for two months in steel tanks on the fine less."

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine is light straw in color, with soft yet surprisingly persistent perlage. A nose of grapefruit and clementine leads the way for flavors of lemon, pineapple and grapefruit that fade into a soft brioche-flavored finish. Kosher. (MD)" (2/2018)

2005 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion 6-Pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2005 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion 6-Pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2005 from Cheval Blanc is a quintessentially elegant, beautiful, deep bluish/ruby-colored wine from St.-Emilion, with raspberry, blueberry, and floral notes, impressive density, great precision, freshness and purity. Full-bodied, but extremely light on its feet, I don’t mean to gush, but it is super-intense, rich and just so meticulously crafted! This is another fabulous wine and a perfect expression for this vintage. It is difficult to forget the gorgeous blueberry and raspberry fruit, full body, sweet tannin, a multi-layered texture, and purity and ...Read More »

2000 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Château Pichon Baron is just getting better and better and better. Perhaps the magnum format played its part, but nevertheless...just...wow. This is a millennial Left Bank with the keys to the top drawer. It has an incredibly precise, mineral-driven bouquet with intense black fruit infused with cedar and graphite scents. It just reeks of Pauillac in an almost uncompromising, yet compelling manner. The palate is structured, stylish and effortless, extraordinarily pure and unerringly youthful. This is a Pichon Baron saying, 'You ain't seen nothing ...Read More »

2005 Reignac, Bordeaux Supérieur

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another top-notch effort from the home property of the brilliant Yves Vatelot, Reignac’s 2005 has a dense ruby/purple color and notes of graphite, black currant, some sweet cherries, and spice box. It is a medium to full-bodied wine with beautiful concentration, decent acidity, and ripe tannin. Despite its humble appellation, this is a very serious wine that is qualitatively up there with some of the better classified growths of the Medoc. It should drink beautifully for 8-10 years. A sleeper of the vintage!" (4/2008) 88-90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good full medium ruby. Expressive arom ...Read More »

It is poised generously between the fresh and mature ... (RV)" (12/2015) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid yellow. Intense aromas of Meyer lemon, pear skin, honeysuckle, toasty lees and iodine, with a bright mineral quality adding lift and focus. Rich yet lively and precise, offering an array of fresh citrus and orchard fruit flavors that fill out and deepen with air. Closes on a smoky note, with excellent clarity and length a ...Read More »

1995 Joël Taluau "Vieilles Vignes" Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil

Wine Spectator: "This fleshy red shows black cherry, spice and herb flavors with firm tannins. It has good concentration and while it's drinkable now, it should improve." (6/1997) K&L Notes: Joël Taluau is a fabulous grower in St. Nicolas de Bourgueil known for making some of the purest expressions of Cabernet Franc in the Loire, unmarred by the intrusion of oak--which he hasn't used in production since 1986. He was also the first producer in the appellation to begin domaine bottling. The Vieilles Vignes, from a single plot of Cabernet Franc planted in 1934, is prized for its power, ... Read More »

2013 Buehler Carneros Chardonnay (Previously $25)

91 points Wine Spectator: "A stylish effort, with ripe, juicy pear, melon, citrus and mineral notes. Medium- to full-bodied and long, lingering on the finish. (JL)" (7/2015) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even better is the 2013 Chardonnay Carneros. Both are 100% Chardonnay, but the Carneros does seem to show slightly more melon fruit, better overall freshness and balance, in a nice, medium to full-bodied, luscious style with tropical fruit. (RP)" (8/2015) K&L Notes: Buehler is a small, family-owned winery in the Napa Valley.
