Alexandre le Brun is a young, 9th generation winemaker in Monthelon in the Ardenne (Marne) region of Champagne. His family established themselves in Champagne in 1750 and their cellars were built in 1822. We were very pleased to meet him and are very excited to carry his wines.
This all-Chardonnay Champagne is very different from most that I have tried. Instead of coming from the pure chalk of the Côte des Blancs, it is all from Festigny, on the east facing slopes of the Flagot River that runs through the village. It has a pretty white-gold color and great focus and minerality that balance out its extroverted nutty, flowery flavors and aromas. It has a very persistent and intriguing finish and, at only six grams per liter of dosage, makes a great aperitif. (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)
2007 Pousse d'Or Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Le Cailleret"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Pousse d'Or Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Le Cailleret" (92BH). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Sweet spot outstanding* This is notably more elegant, refined and complex, both on the layered, cool and airy nose as well as the intensely stony medium-bodied flavors that possess ample dry extract that completely buffers the firm acid spine on the balanced, harmonious and classy finish. I particularly like the mouth feel as this is pure silk and satin." (07/2009)

92 points Vinous: "Delamotte’s 2007 Blanc de Blancs is deep, fleshy and seductive, with lovely textural depth and nuance throughout. The 2007 is a relatively soft, open-knit Delamotte that will drink well upon release. I especially admire the wine's sense of balance and overall proportion, two of the many qualities that give the 2007 its considerable appeal. (AG)" (6/2016) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Delamotte, the sister house of the legendary Salon, is based in the Côte des Blancs so it has plenty of experience with Chardonnay. This crisp, fruity and lightly toasty wine shows well-balanced freshness ...Read More »

93-95 points James Suckling: "A moderately riper yet extremely tight nose of iodine, salt and intense sea shore aromas complement to perfection the rich, full and powerful flavors that are a big step up in weight and power as they etch themselves into the palate on the broad-shouldered and muscular finish. This isn't a wine of finesse but as Chablis goes, this is a bruiser of superb intensity that embodies the phrase "jus de pierre" (rock juice)." (10/2009) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Billaud 2007 Chablis Vaudesir smells of white peach, persimmon, orange zest, and musk, which are accented on a wonderfully ref ...Read More »
