2008 Duhart-Milon, Pauillac

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A magnificent sleeper of the vintage, the 2008 Duhart Milon is the shrewd consumer’s wine to purchase by the case as prices do not yet reflect its qualitative resurgence. Composed of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot that came in at 13.09% alcohol, it is a surprisingly intense effort displaying a marvelous texture, plenty of black currant, licorice, unsmoked cigar tobacco and earthy characteristics, a full-bodied mouthfeel and stunning purity as well as density. Enjoy this top-notch 2008 over the next 20-25 years. (RP)" (5/2011) 92 points James Suckling: "Lead pencil and tobacco ...Read More »

2008 l'Arrosée, St-Emilion

90-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A racy, noble offering from this terrific vineyard, the 2008 l’Arrosee exhibits admirable purity and elegance as well as sweet raspberry and kirsch-like fruit, and underlying floral and crushed rock notes. Medium to full-bodied with ripe tannin, this is a long, intense, rich, but delicate, light on its feet St.-Emilion to consume over the next 15-20 years." (4/2009) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby-red. Exotic aromas and flavors of raspberry, sandalwood, incense, smoky oak and white pepper. Smooth, sweet and nicely delineated, with insidious acidity giving shape and lift to the ...Read More »

2008 Goulée, Médoc

90 points James Suckling: "This is the best ever from here. It’s from the owners of fabulous second growth Cos d’Estournel. Aromas of blueberries and sandalwood follow through to a full body, with fine tannins and a fruity finish. Clean and pretty. Best after 2011." (12/2010) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Goulee 2008 has a very tertiary bouquet with good intensity: autumnal and leafy, lots of sous-bois and green leaves. The palate is very sweet on the entry; fleshy and broad in the mouth with black cherries and boysenberry, leading to a fine pencil lead and tobacco-tinged finish. Very fine. Tasted January 20 ...Read More »

2008 Pavie-Decesse, St-Emilion (Previously $149)

94 points James Suckling: "Lovely fruit with chocolate and berries and raspberries. Full and round fine silky and elegant. Very fresh and long. Beautiful. I like the freshness. Try it in four to five years." (12/2010) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another top-notch effort, the 2008 is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc produced from yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare. It reached 14% natural alcohol, no doubt because of the extremely late harvest. A deep purple color is accompanied by massive notes of blackberries, incense, fruitcake, camphor and toasty oak intermixed with a crushed chalk-like mineral ...Read More »

2008 Plince, Pomerol

Robert Parker says: "A chunky, straightforward, monolithic Pomerol, the 2008 Plince reveals good depth, but not a great deal of character. It reveals a rustic side along with good flesh and pure, plum, black cherry, and berry fruit." Wine Spectator had this to say: "Some good berry and cherry fruit, with medium body and a clean and simple finish." Alex Pross K&L Wine Club Buyer: "Pomerol is considered the "Burgundy" of Bordeaux because the wines come from much smaller domaines than the rest of Bordeaux, cost more on average than other regions in Bordeau... 2008 Latour, Pauillac

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* Expressive fruit aromas and wood perfumes announce this wine. With 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a complex wine marked by purity of black fruits, berries, toast and tannins. It has power, richness and a lovely edge of spice to go with the acidity. The wine is firmly structured, while bursting with fruit and freshness. (RV)" (4/2011) 95 points James Suckling: "Gorgeous aromas. Sandalwood and flowers, so perfumed and beautiful. Spices and currants with cassis too. Amazing nose. Such beauty and density with an iron and pure fruit character. Solid and racy. Best aft ...Read More »

2008 Angélus, St-Emilion

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "***Cellar Selection*** A complete wine, from the black currant fruits through the balanced tannins to the acidity. It is sturdy, complex, a wine that is already singing and will age well. (RV)" (4/2011) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A strong effort in this under-appreciated vintage that sold for a song, the 2008 Angelus is still young and vibrant, with a dense purple color and a sweet kiss of chocolate-infused blackberries and blackcurrants. There are some floral notes, as well as forest floor and lead pencil nuances. Medium to full-bodied with ripe tannin and outstanding equilibrium a ...Read More »

2008 Pétrus, Pomerol
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Pétrus, Pomerol (97RP, 97WE, 95ST, 94JS, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It is hard to call Petrus a 'sleeper of the vintage,' but the 2008 will merit more attention than most consumers would think. Low yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare resulted in only 25,000 bottles of this beauty. A wine of great intensity (possibly the most concentrated wine of the vintage), this 100% Merlot boasts a dark purple color as well as a sweet perfume of mocha, caramel, black cherries, black currants, earth and forest floor. Deep, unctuously textured, full-bodied and pure, it will benefit from 4-5 years of cellaring and should drink well for 25-30+ years. (RP)" (05/2011)

2008 Suduiraut, Sauternes (Previously $80)

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Suduiraut exudes superb minerality on the nose, with apricot, marmalade and quince. The palate is full of tension: beautifully botrytized fruit, the finish furnished with lemon zest, quince and marmalade that linger long and seductively. It seems to shimmer with potential and well drink young or old. This is an estate that has really got into its stride thanks to winemaker Pierre Montegut. Drink now-2045." (04/11) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Packs power and purity into an unctuous yet sleek frame, with m... Read More »

2008 La Violette, Pomerol

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fashioned from yields of 18 hectoliters per hectare with 13.5% natural alcohol, the opaque ruby-hued 2008 exhibits tell-tale floral notes intertwined with raspberries, sweet black cherries, licorice and cassis. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and strikingly pure as well as multilayered, the 2008, despite its precociousness, will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for 20-25 years. It is one of the top successes of the vintage. (RP)" (5/2011) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Superripe aromas of blackberry and licorice. Fat, lush and sweet, with excell ...Read More »

2008 Haut-Bergeron, Sauternes

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Chateau Haut Bergeron has a well-defined bouquet, with dried honey, quince and a touch of marmalade, and what feels like a good level of botrytis. The palate is well-balanced with good weight and intensity; at its heart pure honey, honeysuckle and quince flavours all vie for attention, leading to an elegant, poised finish. This is an excellent 2008 Sauternes that should represent excellent value. Drink now-2025." (5/2011)

2008 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (375ml)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for the wine of the vintage, Pontet Canet’s 2008 boasts an opaque purple color as well as copious aromas of sweet blueberries, blackberries and black currant fruit intertwined with lead pencil shavings, subtle barbecue smoke and a hint of forest floor. Full-bodied, with fabulous richness, texture and tremendous freshness, this first-growth-like effort is more developed than the uber-powerful 2010. Give it 5-8 years of cellaring and drink it over the following three decades. Bravo!" (5/2011) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Smooth, with dense tannins hidden behind the ripe, pur ...Read More »
