2008 Lafleur-Gazin, Pomerol

90 points Wine & Spirits: "No notes given." (6/2012) Wine Enthusiast: "A soft wine, with attractive berry fruits, smoky acidity and sweet juicy flavors. The tannins are well integrated with acidity pushing through. The finish is delicious, soft and ripe. (RV)" (4/2011) Wine Spectator: "Offers solid flesh for the vintage, with dark fig, currant and anise notes laced with roasted apple wood and spice. A graphite streak on the finish adds length and weight. (JM)" (6/2011)

2008 Ausone, St-Emilion (1.5L) (Previously $1600.00)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Possibly the “wine of the vintage,” the 2008 boasts an inky/blue/purple color as well as a glorious perfume of spring flowers, blueberry and blackberry liqueur, camphor, truffles and crushed rocks. With great fruit on the attack and mid-palate, a medium to full-bodied, multidimensional mouthfeel and a skyscraper-like finish, this prodigious effort over-delivers, even for this phenomenal terroir. Give it 5-8 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 40-50 years. (RP)" (5/2011) 97 points Wine Enthusiast: "Wonderfully perfumed wine that exudes class. It has weight and extractio ...Read More »

2008 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A candidate for the wine of the vintage, Pontet Canet’s 2008 boasts an opaque purple color as well as copious aromas of sweet blueberries, blackberries and black currant fruit intertwined with lead pencil shavings, subtle barbecue smoke and a hint of forest floor. Full-bodied, with fabulous richness, texture and tremendous freshness, this first-growth-like effort is more developed than the uber-powerful 2010. Give it 5-8 years of cellaring and drink it over the following three decades. Bravo! (RP)" (5/2011) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* Smooth, with dense tannins hid ...Read More »

2008 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Barde-Haut, St-Emilion (92WS, 90JS). Wine Spectator: "This is a step up. Ripe and polished, with lots of blackberry, plum sauce and melted black licorice notes that are carried by dense but velvety tannins. Extra anise, violet and incense notes push through the vivid finish, where there's plenty of buried grip. A strong showing. Best from 2013 through 2019. " (04/2011)

2008 Saint-Pierre, St-Julien Back In Stock!
2008 Saint-Pierre, St-Julien

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As I predicted from barrel, this stunning effort is a wine to buy by the case. Its opaque ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of graphite, barbecue smoke, blackberries and black currants. The full-bodied, textured 2008 Saint-Pierre reveals a skyscraper-like mouthfeel along with tremendous viscosity and unctuosity. One of the richest and potentially longest-lived 2008s, it is a fabulous sleeper of the vintage. Drink it over the next 20+ years. (RP)" (5/2011) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "At 40 acres, Saint-Pierre is small for the Médoc, but it is certainly performing well. As fine a ...Read More »

2008 Léoville-Poyferré, St-Julien

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the finest over-achieving efforts in this vintage as well as a 'best buy' for a top-flight St.-Julien, this 2008 is an irresistible success. It reveals an opaque ruby/purple color, lots of unctuosity and a boatload of sweet cassis and black cherry fruit intertwined with notions of licorice, smoke and oak. Full-bodied, remarkably concentrated and stunningly pure and textured, this sensational wine is already drinking well, and will be even better with 2-3 years of cellaring. It should last for 20-25 years. Bravo! (RP)" (5/2011) 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Generous and ripe, obv ...Read More »

2008 Montrose, St-Estèphe

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the superstars of the vintage, this classic Montrose is not as showy or opulent as the 2010, 2009 or 2003, but it offers a dense purple color followed by gorgeously sweet black raspberry and black currant fruit intermixed with loamy, earthy, forest floor notes, a floral component and a long, full-bodied finish. The 2008 was fashioned from yields of 44 hectoliters per hectare which is slightly less than the 2010's 45 hectoliters per hectare. Forget it for 5-8 years and drink it over the following 20+. (RP)" (5/2011) 94 points James Suckling: "I'm impressed with the purity of f ...Read More »

2008 Hosanna, Pomerol

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Possibly as remarkable as both the 2009 and 2010, the 2008 Hosanna is one of the superstars of the vintage. Its dense plum/purple color is followed by aromas and flavors of spring flowers, black currants, boysenberries, white chocolate and forest floor. This irresistible, opulent, textured, fleshy 2008 should continue to drink well for 15-20+ years. don't miss it! 2008 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2011* A dense, beautifully structured wine. It shows intense, ripe fruit with balanced acidity. It’s the fine tannins that give it such class, surrounding the fruit, promising long aging. This is a classic for Léoville-Barton." (4/2011) 93 points James Suckling: "What a nose! Chocolate, berry, meat and spice aromas. Full body, with soft and velvety tannins and a long, long finish. This is solid and rich for the vintage. A beauty." 2008 La Mission-Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Like a lot of wines in this underrated vintage, the 2008 La Mission was one of the great bargains of recent vintages. Its healthy blue/purple color is followed by aromas of blueberries, black raspberries, licorice, truffles, underbrush and forest floor. The scorched earthy/smoky character of this estate’s terroir has not yet emerged. Medium to full-bodied and concentrated with good acidity, freshness and delineation, this is a big wine for the vintage, but also very classic in its balance of tannin, acidity and extract. It will benefit from another 5-7 y ...Read More »

With 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a complex wine marked by purity of black fruits, berries, toast and tannins. It has power, richness and a lovely edge of spice to go with the acidity. The wine is firmly structured, while bursting with fruit and freshness. (RV)" (4/2011) 95 points James Suckling: "Gorgeous aromas. Sandalwood and flowers, so perfumed and beautiful. Spices and currants with cassis too. Amazing nose. Such beauty and density with an iron and pure fruit character. Solid and racy. Best aft ...Read More »

2008 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe (1.5L)

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This big, smoky wine has great richness and a big, concentrated structure. The feel is dark, solid, based on spice, new wood and ripe black plums touched with red berries, the tannins sheltering beneath." (4/2011) 93 points James Suckling: "A delicate and pretty Cos. Aromas of blackberries, cherries and spices follow through to a full body, with fine tannins and a chocolate, berry and light coffee character. Long and caressing. Give it a a few years of bottle age before opening."
