2008 Bolaire, Bordeaux Superieur

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Revealing abundant minerality as well as a leaner, tighter style than the 2010's with less mass, extraction and power, this elegant, medium-bodied 2008 exhibits raspberry and black currant fruit, cedar, loamy soil and a hint of spice box. It should be consumed over the next 3-4 years. (RP)" (5/2011) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright, dark red. Redcurrant, tobacco and menthol on the nose. Broad, sweet and fairly full in the mouth, with a fine grain to the flavors of currant, tobacco, herbs and earth. Not especially complex or structured but nicely made. The finish features broad, ri ...Read More »

2008 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "In the powerful style of Lynch-Bages, although perhaps less exuberant than usual. Instead the concentration comes from juicy fruit, which gives it a softer quality. Even so, it still has solid tannins, dense texture and always the promise of good aging." (4/2011) 93 points James Suckling: "Wonderful purity of fruit here with flowers, clean fruit with strawberries and currants. Full bodied with fine tannins and floral and fruity with ultra fine tannins and elegance. Give it four to five years." (12/2010) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A sensational effort for the vintage, this textured, opulent, superb Lynch Bages i ...Read More »

2008 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien
Bid on this bottle of 2008 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (95RP, 94JS, 94WE, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the stars of the vintage, and a remarkable achievement in 2008, with impressive richness, this dense purple colored wine is almost as opaque as the 2010. Spring flowers, crushed rocks, creme de cassis and some subtle oak are followed by a full-bodied, concentrated wine that transcends the vintage character in its power, richness, and aging potential. It also exhibits tremendous precision, purity, and depth of character. It is more forward than the 2010 is likely to be, but probably not as sumptuous as the 2009 will turn out to be. This is a wine to buy. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2035." (05/2011)

2008 Les Forts de Latour, Pauillac

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Rich and fresh, with firm dark tannins, acidity and true black currant flavor. There is a chewy, chalky texture underlying beautiful fruit." (4/2011) 92 points James Suckling: "Caramel and flowers and currants and berries on the nose. Full and velvety with a good density and lots of fruity elegance and balance. Very pretty. Give it four years of bottle age please." (12/2010) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A strong effort, this 2008 exhibits a dark ruby/purple color, more minerality than the 2010 and hints of cedarwood, black currants, underbrush and forest floor. It will age well. (RV)" (4/2011) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Dark plum/garnet, this elegant, medium to full-bodied, beguiling, seductive 2008 is a sleeper of the vintage. Round and silky-smooth with lovely black cherry and black currant fruit imbued with touches of smoke, herbs and earth, this relatively evolved effort is best consumed over the next 15-17 years. 2008 Faugères, St-Émilion

91 points James Suckling: "Very perfumed aromas of Cabernet Franc, with dark fruits and dark chocolate. Minerals too. Full body, with chewy tannins and a fresh, mineraly aftertaste. Plenty going on here. Give it three to four years to soften." (12/2010) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon with 14.5% natural alcohol, the dark ruby/purple-tinged 2008 Faugeres reveals abundant amounts of blueberry and black raspberry fruit intermixed with charcoal and underbrush characteristics as well as a hint of oak. 2008 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (1.5L)

96 points James Suckling: "What a finish here. It starts off slowly and then builds. Full bodied, but in reserve with a sweet tobacco, berry, and light dark chocolate character. Bright acidity and a chewy finish. So classy. Production was tiny in 2008. Try after 2014." (12/2010) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is profound! 2008 Haut-Brion: The extraordinary 2008 Haut-Brion is a candidate for wine of the vintage. Composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc, it reveals more evolution and complexity in its large-scaled perfume. (12/2010) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Cellar Selection* With its superb tannins, the wine has a great solid core of structure. Over it is an edifice of direct black berry fruits, elegant texture and intense acidity. Impressive, a wine for aging." 96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Expressive fruit aromas and wood perfumes announce this wine. With 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a complex wine marked by purity of black fruits, berries, toast and tannins. It has power, richness and a lovely edge of spice to go with the acidity. The wine is firmly structured, while bursting with fruit and freshness." (4/2011) 95 points James Suckling: "Gorgeous aromas. Sandalwood and flowers, so perfumed and beautiful. Spices and currants with cassis too. Amazing nose. Such beauty and density with an iron and pure fruit character. Solid and racy. Best after 2015." Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Troplong Mondot, St-Emilion (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine of the vintage candidate in 2008, Troplong Mondot's offering was produced from yields of 41 hectoliters per hectare and achieved 14.5% natural alcohol. A classic blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it offers copious quantities of blue and black fruits, a full-bodied opulence, sweet tannin and a fabulous texture as well as finish. Already drinking beautifully, it will be even better in 2-5 years and should last for 20 years. A great effort for the vintage, it couldn’t happen to a more deserving proprietor, Christine Valette.
