2008 Gloria, St-Julien

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A stunning sleeper of the vintage, this beautiful, already irresistible, plum/garnet-colored 2008 is a wine to purchase by the case. It possesses a dense plum/purple color, a glorious perfume of Christmas fruitcake, cedarwood, black currants, jammy cherries and licorice, medium to full body and a silky personality. It will provide both a hedonistic and intellectual turn-on over the next 10-15 years. (RP)" (4/2011) Wine Spectator: "This polished red shows good grip from the ripe, well-integrated tannins, which support plum, currant, loam and tobacco flavors. Not heavy, but ...Read More »

2008 Pavie-Decesse, St-Emilion (Previously $149)

94 points James Suckling: "Lovely fruit with chocolate and berries and raspberries. Full and round fine silky and elegant. Very fresh and long. Beautiful. I like the freshness. Try it in four to five years." (12/2010) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Another top-notch effort, the 2008 is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc produced from yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare. It reached 14% natural alcohol, no doubt because of the extremely late harvest. A deep purple color is accompanied by massive notes of blackberries, incense, fruitcake, camphor and toasty oak intermixed with a crushed chalk-like mineral ...Read More »

2008 Clos St-Martin, St-Emilion

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A stronger effort than its 2010 sibling, the 2008's pure, chalky/limestone character gives it an unmistakable liqueur of mineral-like quality intermixed with deep raspberry and black cherry fruit, medium to full body and superb ripeness, depth and purity. This beautiful wine should be consumed over the next 15 years. (RP)" (5/2011) Wine Spectator: "Dense, with fleshy-textured blackberry, fig and currant fruit flavors layered with dark licorice, black tea and roasted apple wood notes. The grippy finish lets a note of currant paste linger. (JM, Web-2011)"

2008 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2008 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St-Julien (OWC - 95RP, 94JS, 94WE, 92ST, 92WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the stars of the vintage, and a remarkable achievement in 2008, with impressive richness, this dense purple colored wine is almost as opaque as the 2010. Spring flowers, crushed rocks, creme de cassis and some subtle oak are followed by a full-bodied, concentrated wine that transcends the vintage character in its power, richness, and aging potential. It also exhibits tremendous precision, purity, and depth of character. It is more forward than the 2010 is likely to be, but probably not as sumptuous as the 2009 will turn out to be. 2008 Duhart-Milon, Pauillac

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A magnificent sleeper of the vintage, the 2008 Duhart Milon is the shrewd consumer’s wine to purchase by the case as prices do not yet reflect its qualitative resurgence. Composed of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot that came in at 13.09% alcohol, it is a surprisingly intense effort displaying a marvelous texture, plenty of black currant, licorice, unsmoked cigar tobacco and earthy characteristics, a full-bodied mouthfeel and stunning purity as well as density. Enjoy this top-notch 2008 over the next 20-25 years. (RP)" (5/2011) 92 points James Suckling: "Lead pencil and tobacco ...Read More »

2008 Suduiraut, Sauternes

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Suduiraut exudes superb minerality on the nose, with apricot, marmalade and quince. The palate is full of tension: beautifully botrytized fruit, the finish furnished with lemon zest, quince and marmalade that linger long and seductively. It seems to shimmer with potential and well drink young or old. This is an estate that has really got into its stride thanks to winemaker Pierre Montegut. Drink now-2045." 2008 L'Eglise-Clinet, Pomerol

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A remarkable wine in this vintage, L’Eglise Clinet’s 2008 has a color almost as dark as the barrel sample of 2010. Classic mocha and caramel-infused creme de cassis and black cherry notes, with hints of licorice and loamy soil soar from the glass of this opaque ruby/purple, aromatically compelling wine. Opulent, expansive, and savory, with a broad texture, a full-bodied mouthfeel, terrific purity and a layered finish, this is another big, massive wine that transcends the vintage character, and will probably need 7-10 years of bottle age. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and strikingly pure as well as multilayered, the 2008, despite its precociousness, will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for 20-25 years. It is one of the top successes of the vintage. (RP)" (5/2011) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Superripe aromas of blackberry and licorice. 2008 Haut-Bergeron, Sauternes

The palate is well-balanced with good weight and intensity; at its heart pure honey, honeysuckle and quince flavours all vie for attention, leading to an elegant, poised finish. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by sweet red and black fruits intermixed with notes of spring flowers and crushed rocks, a layered mouthfeel, superb nobility and remarkable intensity offered in a finesse-filled format. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted at the château, the Les Forts de Latour 2008, a late cellar release from the estate, has a very delineated bouquet with blackberry, black truffle and cedar aromas the gently unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a feisty entry, touches of white pepper, graphite and bell pepper on the entry that neatly complement the black fruit, which dovetails into a poised, minty finish.
