2006 Domaine Francois Parent Volnay 1er Cru "Les Fremiets"

Wine Spectator: "A powerful red, with ripe cherry, red currant and beefy tannins to match. A bit dry in the end, with a spicy aftertaste. It's a race between the fruit and tannins over time. (BS, Web-2009)" K&L Notes: Francois Parent's father was one of the first vignerons in Burgundy to begin bottling as a domaine, rather than simply selling off his wine in bulk to the local negotiants. His mother helped in marketing the wines, traveling throughout Europe as one of the first grower/producers, pioneering a boutique trend that has become much more normalized today. Francois has contin... Read More »

2006 Domaine Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru "Clos des Epeneaux"

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Outstanding* In contrast to the reticence displayed from barrel, now that the '06 is in bottle it is surprisingly open and expressive with a beautifully layered nose of raspberry, cherry and red Pinot fruit nuanced by hints of spice, earth, minerals and a dried herb component that introduces intense, balanced and pure flavors that culminate in a serious, mouth coating and well built finish where the tannins are solid but not rustic or aggressive. This will require the better part of a decade to arrive at its majority as the tannins are quite firm and de ...Read More »

2006 Domaine Louis Jadot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Louis Jadot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (93RP, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Jadot 2006 Clos Vougeot – one lot of which was parked in tank for nearly six months while waiting for the other to finally undergo malo – exhibits an unusually dark color for its collection; offers a polished, rich, velvet-textured melange of lightly-cooked black fruits underlain by roasted red meats; and finishes sedately but with memorable savor and length. Lardiere's fears that the wine might end up disjointed have thus proven unfounded, and I suspect that this classic example of top-notch Clos Vougeot will be worth following over the next decade. And since there are a thousand cases of it, quite a few wine lovers can share that experience. (DS)" (12/2009)

2006 Domaine Jacques Prieur Musigny Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Jacques Prieur Musigny Grand Cru ((92-94BH), 93ST, 91RP). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*** Don't Miss! *** An elegant yet reserved and admirably layered nose features red and blue pinot fruit, rose and violet notes plus subtle spice aromas that are in perfect keeping with the round, intense, precise and pure medium full flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration and a discreetly mineral-infused finish that both coats the mouth and lingers beautifully. There is enough sap here that the mouth feel is actually rounder at present than the wine will be once the baby fat melts away. In a word, gorgeous." (04/2008)

2006 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Pruliers"
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Pruliers" (92JG, (89-91BH), 91RP, (89-91ST)). John Gilman: "The Pruliers chez Chevillon can sometimes border on overripe (as it did to my taste in 2005), but the 2006 version is very pure and precise, with a depth and freshness that is very much the essence of the vintage at this domaine. The bouquet offers up a very pure mélange of cherries, red plums, graphite, herb tones, fine minerality, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and closed, with a rock solid core, firm tannins, almost aggressive acids and outstanding length and grip on the chewy and very young finish. This too will be excellent, but it will take time. (Drink between 2018-2050) " (11/2007)

Wine Spectator: "Distinctive aromas of graphite and licorice introduce black cherry and mineral flavors. Tight and firm, with solid tannins and lively acidity driving the fruit, followed by a long finish. Best from 2011 through 2022. (BS)" (06/2009)

2006 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Saint Georges"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru "Les Saint Georges" (93BH, 93RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Gouges 2006 Nuits-St.-Georges Les St.-Georges evinces a sweet, liqueur-like concentration of blackberry and cherry, yet manages to retain a lovely suggestion of fresh fruit as well that is unexpected given the headiness and suggestive richness to its aromas. A clean meatiness underlies the lush fruit. There is plenty of tannin here but it is so refined – and the fruit so sweetly concentrated – that one has to attend closely to notice it, and the textural impression is one of silken refinement. This finishes exhilaratingly and with even greater persistence than the Vaucrains, although it doesn't for now displays as much detail or that wine's remarkable sense of mineral presence. It would be a shame to break open many bottles of this for the next 3-4 years, as it has probably got at least a dozen years' potential. (DS)" (12/2009)

2006 Dominique Laurent Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Dominique Laurent Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (93ST, 92RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good bright, deep red. Raspberry, redcurrant, sassafras, mocha and exotic sweet oak spices on the nose. Lush, sappy and sweet, with a terrific deep kernel of spicy red fruit flavors. The very long finish adds an exhilarating floral topnote. (ST)" (03/2009)

2006 Dominique Laurent Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Dominique Laurent Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (93RP, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Black cherry preserves, toasted pecan, peat, and iodine inform the powerful and pungent nose of Laurent's 2006 Mazis Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, representing an assemblage of juice from both the Mazis-Hauts and Mazis-Bas sections of that cru. This is another sumptuously rich, palpably dense, but finely tannic Laurent 2006, and the suggestions of mineral and animal dimensions are more evolved, deeper, and more intriguing than in the corresponding Charmes. It finishes with superb persistence, promising to reward 12-15 years of cellaring, and probably best left untouched for the first 4-6 of those. (DS)" (12/2009)

2006 Dominique Laurent Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Lavaux St. Jacques" Vielles Vignes
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Dominique Laurent Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Lavaux St. Jacques" Vielles Vignes (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Laurent 2006 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St.-Jacques Vieilles Vignes – of which there is but one barrel – features prune and dried cherry shadowed by their spirituous counterparts and tinged by black tea, vanilla and nutmeg. Liqueur-like in its palate richness, yet at the same time sappy and not at all heavy, it evinces a wealth of ore-like, peaty, and pungent mineral impingements as well as savory, invigorating salinity in its long finish. The tannins here are ample and fine, with the deeply satisfying grain of a fine Oolong tea. I have to remind myself that this is not the Clos St.-Jacques in the glass, but rather what is normally thought of as a lesser sibling. That said, the vines and plot on which this grew have a long and impressive record, and the wine now in question should be well worth following for a dozen or more years. (DS)"

2006 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Le Corton Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival) New!
2006 Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils Le Corton Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival)

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A reserved and relatively cool nose of wild red berries, game, underbrush and crushed herbs introduces earthy, intense and impressively broad scaled and powerful flavors that are dense, balanced and vibrant and really stain the palate on the explosively long finish that is youthfully austere. A stunner that should age beautifully well." (4/2008) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Corton is the largest grand cru in Burgundy (all of 240 acres) and its style can vary widely. Bouchard has gone for a relatively soft style, emphasizing fruits, raspberry, myrtle and black currants, topped with aci ...Read More »

2006 Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Musigny Grand Cru
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Musigny Grand Cru ((92-95BH)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*** Don't miss! *** (from a .12 ha parcel) As fine as the Clos de Bèze is, the Musigny is more complete still with a strikingly pure, elegant and refined nose that combines a remarkable number of different spice nuances with the almost entirely black pinot fruit and violet aromas where the floral aspect continues onto the rich, round, pure and sweet flavors that are also impressively refined on the gorgeously long and palate staining finish. This is a wine of class with beautifully sophisticated tannins that are dense but fine and the overall impression is one of restrained power and perfect balance." (01/2008)
