2006 Domaine Faiveley Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru

92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "**Don't Miss** A distinctly sauvage and somber dark berry fruit nose gives off notes of iron tinged warm earth, underbrush, crushed herbs and a hint of smoke followed by rich, full and moderately wooded full-bodied flavors that are notably powerful and supported by very firm tannins on the serious, long and backward finish. This too will require upward of two decades of cellar time so don't buy this if you're not prepared to be patient." (1/2008) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Quite closed on the nose, hinting at smoked meat and botanical herbs; smells drier than the Latrici ...Read More »

2006 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Cazetiers"

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This pretty effort is evolving somewhat more slowly than I originally envisioned though it is not so tight and structured that it could not be enjoyed now if desired. There is an all but invisible touch of wood framing the earthy and moderately sauvage red and dark berry fruit nose that leads to solidly concentrated and mineral-infused medium-bodied flavors that possess good phenolic maturity as the tannins are still firm but well-integrated and ripe. The robust and relatively powerful finish delivers fine length and about the only nit is a hint of backe ...Read More »

2006 Domaine Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St. Jacques"
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Clos St. Jacques" (95WS, 93BH, (92-93RP), 92ST). Wine Spectator: "Packed with sweet fruit, this silky red exudes cherry, strawberry, licorice, sandalwood and mineral aromas and flavors. Despite its intensity, this remains lithe and refined, with excellent harmony and resonance on the long finish. Best from 2012 through 2024. 50 cases imported. (Web Only-2010) (BS)"

2006 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Ducs" (Pre-Arrival)

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here there is no reduction whatsoever with a reasonably expressive nose of red and blue pinot fruit and dried rose petal nuances that dissolve into rich, intense and mineral-inflected flavors of crystalline purity and wonderful cut and precision, all wrapped in an exceptionally fresh, deep and mouth coating finish that seems to go on and on. The balance is impeccable and this too will live for many a year before it reaches old age. A classic Ducster that is slightly bigger than the '07 version is not quite as refined. A choice." (4/2009) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red. Coo ...Read More »

2006 Domaine Louis Jadot Clos De La Roche Grand Cru (nicked label)

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A smoky, earthy and slightly animale nose of moderate wood and pure red pinot fruit complements the delicious, complex and notably powerful aromas that possess a lovely sense of underlying tension on the solidly persistent finish where the wood resurfaces. This is built to age." (4/2008) 90 points Wine & Spirits: "Complex wood spice chimes in the upper registers of this wine, with sweet vanilla and sarsaparilla. It's grounded more by acidity than tannin or direct fruit, and though the wine is substantial in size, it's not showing much of itself. An intriguing scent of crystallized r ...Read More »

2006 Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Pommard 1er Cru "Jarollières"

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Sweet Spot Outstanding* In contrast to the expressiveness of the prior wines, here the nose is reserved, indeed brooding with pretty but cool red berry fruit notes that marry into supple, round and admirably pure medium-bodied flavors that are moderately concentrated, all wrapped in a long balanced and harmonious finish that again displays very fine tannins. This has enough Pommard muscle to age very well." (4/2008) 88-90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep red. Aromas of plum, smoke and licorice, with a meaty nuance. Sweet, supple and fat, with good richness and a medicinal reserve to ...Read More »

2006 Denis Bachelet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2006 Denis Bachelet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes ((91-94BH), 94RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pre-selection and rigorous sorting appear to have eliminated any negative impact of hail in Bachelet's 2006 Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, but with the result that this virtually always intense and well-structured wine from 80 year old vines is even more so than usual. Bitter-sweet herbal, tarry, and almost liqueur-like dark berry concentrates (cassis and black raspberry) – along with low-toned roast meatiness – inform a seamless palate, softer to the touch and with a more restrained impression of acidity than the old vines village Gevrey, yet still plenty of vivacious primary fruit juiciness. Hints of sealing wax and inner-mouth perfume of peony, heliotrope, and rose add intrigue and allure. Resin, iodine, and wet stone convey a sense of depth in the lingering finish, and speaking of 'lingering,' the empty glass smells so sweetly fr
