2015 Chante Cigale Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc (Elsewhere $36) Top Pick!
2015 Chante Cigale Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc (Elsewhere $36)

93 points Wine Spectator: "Intense, with bitter almond, citrus oil, white peach, nectarine and ginger notes tightly coiled together and driving through the anise- and wet stone-accented finish. (JM, Web-2016)" 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Made from equal parts Bourboulenc, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne, the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc is a beauty! Medium-bodied, fresh, elegant and nicely balanced, it sports a very light color, yet has impressive intensity in its crisp peach, spice and mint aromas and flavors. 2014 Clos Saint Jean "Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape Top Pick!
2014 Clos Saint Jean "Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

92-94 points Vinous: "Brilliant ruby. A powerfully scented bouquet evokes ripe red and dark berries, incense and pungent flowers, and a smoky Indian spice nuance builds in the glass. Fleshy and broad on entry and then tighter in the middle, offering juicy, concentrated black raspberry and boysenberry flavors given spine by juicy acidity. Rich yet energetic, finishing with outstanding clarity and sweet persistence and shaped by smooth tannins. (JR)" (4/2016) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Richer, darker and also slightly more polished, the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is another beautiful wine and ...Read More »

The property has been in the family since the 19th century and is currently run by Alexandre Favier who assumed the reins at the ripe old age of 20. 2014 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape is a beautiful wine in the vintage, and Marc compares it to the 2012. I’m not sure I agree, but there’s no denying the quality in this 2014. Sporting a deep ruby color and terrific notes of blackberries, ground herbs, pepper and Provençal s pice, it shows the more forward, charming nature of the vintage and is medium to full-bodied, pure and balanced. Drink it anytime over the coming decade. (JD)" (10/2016) 91-93 points Vinous: "Deep ruby. 2010 Domaine La Roquète Châteauneuf-du-Pape

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape is made from 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah and Mourvedre, all from the famed lieu-dit Les Pialons, which is located only a few miles from Vieux Telegraphe’s La Crau, although it is normally harvested at least 15 days later than La Crau (an extraordinary illustration of the difference in micro-climates in a compact area such as Chateauneuf du Pape). The deep, rich, dark ruby/purple-tinged 2010 does not compare to the magnificent 2007, but it is a top-tier wine that was aged 18 months in concrete tanks. 2012 Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin, which I was able to taste (and drink) from multiple bottles, is a beautiful Grenache that comes from the cooler, northeastern edge of the appellation. Coming almost all from the Chapouin lieu-dit (it gets a small bit from La Janasse), it gives up the classic notes of black berries, spring flowers, violets, and licorice that I always seem to find in this cuvee. Building nicely on the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, has tons of sweet fruit and solid, if not firm, tannin that come out on ...Read More »

2012 Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes (Previously $110)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Up in the top handful of wines in the vintage (which should come as no surprise to anyone who follows this estate), the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is a full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, rich and layered Châteauneuf that doesn’t put a foot wrong. Made from 85% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre and the rest Syrah, it offers blockbuster notes of blackberry, liquid-violets, spice and serious minerality to go with awesome mid-palate depth and layers of sweet tannin. 2005 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The most masculine and structured of the group, the 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape is locked and loaded, with serious concentration, big tannin and no shortage of length on the finish. Coming from a year that featured a cool summer and then scorching temps around harvest, this beauty doles out loads of creme de cassis, licorice, graphite and crushed rock-like minerality, as well as a seamless, perfectly balanced profile. 2010 Domaine Grand Veneur "Les Origines" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

A blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre (45- to-95-year-old vines) aged in small oak, it exhibits an opaque purple color as well as a sweet bouquet of blackberries, espresso roast, ink and graphite. While clearly a modern-styled Chateauneuf du Pape, it retains plenty of the region's typicity and authenticity. (RP)" (10/2012) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky purple. 99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Flirting with perfection, the utterly profound 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape la Cuvee du Papet is up there with some of the greatest Chateauneuf du Papes ever made. A huge, classically styled and Provencal wine, it offers layers of garrigue, black currants, licorice, beef blood and leather, as well as building tannin, a stacked mid-palate and a finish that just won’t quit. The floral and red fruit notes carry strongly through a clinging, sharply focused finish framed by smooth, slow-building tannins. Deep, sappy black raspberry and boysenberry flavors show excellent clarity, with a hint of spicecake building in the glass. Nicely balances power and finesse and shows outstanding vivacity. Piecrust and orange sabayon details line the finish. Drink now through 2024. (JM)" (11/2016) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A big step up over the classic cuvee (which isn’t always a given), the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Roussanne Vieilles Vignes is 100% Roussanne from ancient vines, some of which are over 100 years in age. 2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel’s 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out even better out of bottle than I predicted. An inky/ruby/purple color is followed by a glorious nose of blue and black fruits, truffles, pen ink, licorice, and meat juices as well as glorious levels of acidity and sweet tannin, buttressing the fruit’s fabulous freshness and vibrancy. This full-bodied effort still displays considerable tannin, no doubt because of the relatively high Mourvedre content. It should resolve its tannins in 2-4 years, and last for 25 or more. Dense bluish/purple to the rim, with notes of blueberry, black raspberry liqueur, kirsch, spice box, vanillin, graphite and licorice, the wine is extraordinarily complex, deep, full-bodied and juicy, with a sweet, luxurious mid-palate and long finish with moderately high tannin. The long, supple finish, with a lovely wafting note of Lapsang souchong tea, is packed with minerality and tight-grained tannins that will need time to fully evolve. One of the more backward 2009s, though this should pick up steam in the cellar. Best from 2013 through 2025. Despite being predominantly Grenache, it is reminiscent of an elegant northern Rhône Syrah with the texture of a Pinot. With a medium bodied intensity, it has a beautiful red fruit expression with some savoury notes. Harmony, finesse and elegance are probably the three words that best describe this beauty. Sweet, broad and seamless in texture, offering juicy, nicely concentrated red and dark berry flavors and a hint of candied lavender. Shows excellent depth, breadth and power on the gently tannic finish, and a hint ...Read More »

2013 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape

93-95 points Vinous: "Vivid ruby-red. Potent raspberry, potpourri and garriguescents expand with air, picking up smoke and mineral nuances and a hint of olive. Sweet and seamless in texture, offering intense cassis and red berry compote flavors and a touch of licorice. Blends richness and vivacity smoothly, finishing spicy, focused and very long, with dusty tannins adding grip. (JR)" (4/2015) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Very juicy and lively in feel, with pepper, tobacco and bay leaf notes leading the way for a core of raspberry, bitter plum and red currant coulis flavors. The long finish lets the pepper ...Read More »

2000 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Previously $120.00)

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full ruby-red. Liqueur-like aromas of black raspberry, black cherry and licorice. Lush, fat and full in the mouth, with superb concentration and richness. A seamless wine with great Chateauneuf du Pape character. Complicating notes of tar and chocolate. Finishes with dusty, broad tannins and great persistence. This can be enjoyed now with the right dishes but should age gracefully." (1/2003) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fully mature, with a ruby/amber color that shows some lightening at the rim, it offers classic Pegau garrigue, olive tapenade, beef blood and wild herbs to go with a m ...Read More »

2014 Château de la Font du Loup Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Vinous: "(made from destemmed fruit and aged in used foudres and demi-muids): Brilliant ruby-red. Displays smoke-accented red currant, dried cherry and floral scents, carrying a peppery overtone. Sharply focused red fruit flavors show a slightly firm edge and unfold slowly. Finishes tangy and slightly rigid; dusty tannins come in late. (JR)" (4/2016)

2005 Château de Beaucastel "Hommage à Jacques Perrin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A classic example of the vintage, the 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape Hommage À Jacques Perrin is made from 60% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache, and the rest Counoise and Syrah. Inky colored, it offers an iron, beef-blood and gamey aromatic profile to go with gorgeous purity and focus on the palate. Reminding me of the 2010, yet even more firm and focused, this full-bodied effort will need another 7-8 years to start to show maturity, and will have upward of 40-50 years of overall longevity. 97+ (JD)" (2/2015) 97 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Opaque purple. An explosive, room-filling bouquet of ripe rasp ...Read More »

2009 Clos du Caillou "Les Safres" Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(70% Roussanne, with Clairette and Grenache Blanc, raised in four- and five-year-old barriques): Bright yellow-gold. Ripe yellow plum and dried pear on the intensely perfumed nose, with complicating notes of flowers and herbs. Smooth and concentrated, offering sappy citrus and orchard fruit flavors and notes of chalk, anise and honey. The finish shows a refreshingly bitter note and lingers with impressive spiciness and tenacity. 2005 Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape Back In Stock!
2005 Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An awesome effort, the 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin comes from the cooler, northeast corner of the appellation and is 100% Grenache. Spring flowers, licorice, violets, crushed rock and layers of sweet Grenache fruit all flow to a full-bodied, clean, elegant 2005 that has everything in the right place. Drinking brilliantly now, it should continue to dish out loads of pleasure over the coming decade. (JD)" (2/2015) 96 points Wine Spectator: "This gushes with boysenberry reduction, linzer torte and loganberry flavors allied to a rich, creamy mouthfeel. But there's also plenty ...Read More »

2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel has been on a terrific qualitative roll over the last four vintages, and the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape (which Francois Perrin feels is similar to the 1990, although I don’t see that as of yet) is a 15,000-case blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Counoise, and the balance split among the other permitted varietals of the appellation. This inky/ruby/purple-colored cuvee offers a classic Beaucastel bouquet of new saddle leather, cigar smoke, roasted herbs, black truffles, underbrush, and blackberry as well as cherry fruit. It is a ...Read More »

2006 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "From the normal tiny yields of this estate (on the order of 22 hectoliters per hectare), the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape from Paul-Vincent has shed its baby fat and now shows a supple, elegant, seamless profile that's hard to resist. Kirsch, licorice, garrigue and sweet spice all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced 2006. It benefits from a short decant, and while showing plenty of maturity, it will evolve gracefully for at least another decade. (JD)" (3/2016) 95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Highly expressive aromas of raspberry, cherry, lavender, smoked ...Read More »

2007 Cuvée du Vatican "Reserve Sixtine" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I loved the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Réserve Sixtine, and this is probably the finest example of this cuvee since the 2003. Made from 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah and the rest Mourvèdre, destemmed and aged in a mix of foudre, old barrels and small amounts of new barrels, it offers terrific purity in its black raspberry and cassis fruits, melted licorice and cured meat aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness, beautiful mid-palate density and no hard edges, it’s a joy to drink today but will certainly keep for another decade or more. 1998 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "A big, rich wine with huge amounts of fruit oozing out of the glass. Great concentration and intensity, with licorice flavors from the Mourvèdre, finishing with chewy tannins. A great year for this wine, which should age well for 15 to 20 years." (12/2001) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Very youthful, with a juicy blast of red plum and fig fruit flavors on a racy frame, this also has plenty of spice, tar, plum cake and mineral in reserve, as the finish shows more structure and slowly darkens with time in the glass. Only just starting to hit its stride. (JM)" (9/2007) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The atypically Grenac ...Read More »

2004 Clos du Mont-Olivet "Cuvée des Papet" Châteauneuf du Pape

94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep violet. Enormous, room-filling bouquet encompasses the full range of red and dark berry tones, along with an intense garrigue component. Powerful and quite sweet, with dense dark berry and cherry flavors framed by solid tannins. The fruit expands on the building finish, penetrating every nook of the palate and finishing solid and chewy. Pretty stunning stuff. (JR)" (2/2007) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "More dense and concentrated, the superb 2004 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Du Papet checks in as a blend of 80% Grenache and 10% each of Syrah and Mourvedre. 2007 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Full-bodied and concentrated, yet with a seamless, impeccably balanced profile, it's drinking beautifully today but has another 10-15 years of overall longevity.
