2007 Château Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2007 Château Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Beaucastel’s 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape has turned out even better out of bottle than I predicted. An inky/ruby/purple color is followed by a glorious nose of blue and black fruits, truffles, pen ink, licorice, and meat juices as well as glorious levels of acidity and sweet tannin, buttressing the fruit’s fabulous freshness and vibrancy. This full-bodied effort still displays considerable tannin, no doubt because of the relatively high Mourvedre content. It should resolve its tannins in 2-4 years, and last for 25 or more. One of the great estates of the ...Read More »

2007 Tardieu-Laurent "Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Wine Spectator: "This is crammed with a massive core of blueberry compote, braised fig and mulled blackberry and boysenberry fruit flavors, all wound up with graphite tannins and backed by a strong, iron-filled spine. This has serious depth and drive, with gorgeous mocha and espresso aromatics flittering throughout. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2010 through 2024. (JM)" (11/2009) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is fashioned from old vine Grenache (90%) and the rest Syrah and Mourvedre, the last two components aged in new oak. The fruit comes from pa ...Read More »

2007 Roger Sabon "Reserve" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Revealing a deeper, more saturated ruby/purple color, the full-bodied 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve exhibits plenty of glycerin, a multilayered texture, and a sensational combination of rich black currant and kirsch fruit intermixed with licorice, roasted herb, and forest floor notes. A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Cinsault aged in both foudre and old demi-muids... (AG)" (10/2009) 92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Opaque ruby. Pungent raspberry and blackberry aromas are complicated by minerals and dried flowers. Lively red fruit flavors gain depth in the middle palate ...Read More »

2007 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée da Capo" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For the fourth time, the Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee da Capo has been produced, and for the fourth time, it has received a perfect score although I might back off the 2000's perfect score based on the fact that it seems to be more of an upper-ninety point wine than pure perfection these days. The 2007 may come closest in style to the 1998, the debut vintage, although the tannins are sweeter and the wine is perhaps fatter and richer in the mouth... An inky/purple color is followed by aromas of smoked meats, Peking duck, licorice, lavender, aged beef, grille ...Read More »

2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2007 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape (96RP, 96WS, 94ST, 94W&S). Wine Spectator: "**Collectibles** This extremely dense red delivers layers of melted fig, mulled boysenberry and black currant fruit, all laced with notes of charred mesquite, hoisin sauce and Kenya AA coffee. The long, silky mouthfeel belies the latent power in reserve and there's a lot of it, with waves of grip driving the finish. Best from 2010 through 2030." (12/2009)

2007 Pierre Usseglio "Cuvée de Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Bid on this bottle of 2007 Pierre Usseglio "Cuvée de Mon Aïeul" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (99RP, 94ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The thickest, richest and most extravagant Cuvee du Mon Aieul ever produced is unquestionably the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul! Almost all old-vine Grenache brought up in tank (no new wood), it tastes like the raw essence of Grenache and has off-the-hook aromas and flavors of black raspberries, cassis, cured meats, licorice and incense. Massively rich and textured, with a full, layered mid-palate and sweet tannin, it's still an adolescent that drinks well today, due its insane amount of fruit, but will be even better in 2-3 years and have 20-25 years of overall longevity. (JD)" (09/2015)

2007 Les Cailloux (Lucien et André Brunel) "Cuvée Centenaire" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Two brilliant successes are Brunel’s cuvees of 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape. His limited cuvee of approximately 500 cases of the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Centenaire (made from 80% Grenache aged in foudre, and the balance Syrah and Mourvedre aged in one- to three-year-old small barrels) comes primarily from a parcel of 120-year-old vines in the northern part of the appellation in the lieu-dit known as Farguerol. This cuvee has only been made in vintages such as 1989, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, and now 2007. Deep ruby/purple in color ...Read More »

2007 Domaine de la Janasse "XXL" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A curiosity is the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape XXL, a blend of 95% Grenache and 5% Mourvedre that fermented for nearly three years. Bottled earlier this year, it reminds me of some of the Cuvee Speciales that Henri Bonneau made, particularly the 1990 and 1998. One would think it might taste like an Amarone, but in fact, it doesn’t. It is a very thick, unctuously-textured, over-the-top wine with unbelievable concentration that is technically dry, even though the alcohol level is extraordinarily high. Only 1,400 bottles were produced. Several California Rhone ...Read More »

2007 Domaine St. Pierre "Plan de Dieu" Côtes du Rhône Villages

The Plan de Dieu is recognized as one of the noblest soils in the whole of the Cotes du Rhone. The ground is very stony, which acts as a filter, and it is sensitive to drought. This is the favored land of high quality grenache and mourvedre.

2007 Domaine Jaume "Référence" Vinsobres

2007 Patrick Jasmin Côte-Rôtie

93 points James Suckling: "Subtle aromas of dried meat and game with dried raspberries. Tight at first, but it opens beautifully. Full and velvety with a berry finish. Bright acidity at the finish." (8/2013) 91 points Wine Spectator: "A bit old-school, with a pepper- and tobacco-driven core of damson plum, red currant and black cherry fruit all laced with sanguine and cedar hints through the focused finish. (JM)" (11/2011) 90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright red. Smoky red berry and cherry scents are complicated by notes of potpourri, minerals, tobacco and cracked pepper. Racy on entry, then gains sweetness in the middle palate to go with ...Read More »

2007 Thierry Allemand "Reynard" Cornas (Pre-Arrival)

92-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Inky purple. Deeper and more powerful on the nose than the Chaillot, displaying pungent aromas of cassis, boysenberry, violet, dark chocolate and licorice. Surprisingly lithe on the palate following the richness of the nose, offering vibrant dark berry flavors and a note of refreshingly bitter cherry skin. Turns spicier with air, finishing with strong cut and a persistent floral quality. I really like this wine's blend of masculine character and vibrancy. (JR)" (1/2010) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Dark, with lots of mulled plum and currant fruit, but racy, with anise, graphite and ta ...Read More »
