Rich, textured and medium to full-bodied, with ample black cherry, olive tapenade and subtle meatiness, this traditional effort stays pure and lively, with fine tannin emerging on the finish. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and seamless, it shines for its purity and balance. It’s worth noting the estate is playing around with more whole cluster inclusion, and this cuvée was 40% not destemmed. I’m not sure I agree, but there’s no denying the quality in this 2014. 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the wines of the vintage is the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape from Philippe Bravey, and I’ve drunk more than a case of this wine and have consistently rated it at the upper end of the spectrum (however, some bottles suffer from too much volatile acidity). Big, full-bodied, layered and unctuous, it has a huge nose of garrigue, black fruits, saddle leather and licorice. I absolutely love this wine and would happily drink bottles over the coming decade. (JD)" (2/2017) 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Expressive aromas of raspberry, cherry, blood orange and dried flowers, with ...Read More »

2012 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Laurence" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Wine Spectator: "A throwback style and proud of it, with warm chestnut and bay leaf notes taking the lead, followed quickly by worn leather and smoldering tobacco accents. The core of dark currant, warmed cherry and mulled blackberry lies in reserve for now, while the finish lets singed iron and brick dust details hold sway. Just wait for everything to pull together in the cellar. Best from 2020 through 2032. (JM)" (3/2017)

2005 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The most masculine and structured of the group, the 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape is locked and loaded, with serious concentration, big tannin and no shortage of length on the finish. Coming from a year that featured a cool summer and then scorching temps around harvest, this beauty doles out loads of creme de cassis, licorice, graphite and crushed rock-like minerality, as well as a seamless, perfectly balanced profile. Give it another 2-3 years and drink it through 2025. (JD)" (8/2014) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Showing beautifully, with intense fig, black currant and boysenberry fruit ...Read More »

2010 Domaine Grand Veneur "Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

100 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A monumental effort meriting a perfect score, the super-rich 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is a 4,000-bottle blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre and 10% Syrah from 55- to 105-year-old vines and was aged for 18 months in small oak. The wine offers majestic blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with kirsch, licorice and subtle Provencal herbs in the background. It is akin to chewing meat in the mouth given its viscosity and thickness. This utterly amazing wine comes close to being over the top, but it pulls back just in time. A massive Chateau ...Read More »

2012 Bosquet des Papes "Chante le Merle Vieilles Vignes" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A remarkable effort, the blockbuster 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Chante le Merle Vieilles Vignes comes close to the 2010 in terms of quality. Coming from a selection of the top plots and old vines of the estate, co-fermented, and with no destemming, it offers off-the-charts notes of cassis, chocolate-covered cherries, garrigue, licorice and toasted spice. Possessing massive richness and depth, with tons of glycerin, texture and length, it stays remarkably elegant, balanced and pure on the palate, with building tannin and yet no hard edges. This knockout Châ ...Read More »

2000 Domaine du Pégaü "Cuvée Reservée" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Previously $120.00)

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Full ruby-red. Liqueur-like aromas of black raspberry, black cherry and licorice. Lush, fat and full in the mouth, with superb concentration and richness. A seamless wine with great Chateauneuf du Pape character. Complicating notes of tar and chocolate. Finishes with dusty, broad tannins and great persistence. This can be enjoyed now with the right dishes but should age gracefully." (1/2003) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Fully mature, with a ruby/amber color that shows some lightening at the rim, it offers classic Pegau garrigue, olive tapenade, beef blood and wild herbs to go with a m ...Read More »

2005 M. Chapoutier "Barbe Rac" Châteauneuf-du-Pape

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The blockbuster 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Barbe Rac shows classic garrigue notes intermixed with ground pepper, lavender, and sweet black currant and black cherry notes with hints of raspberry and olive. The wine is full-bodied has a boatload of tannin, fabulous concentration, and a finish of close to 50 seconds. This is a brilliant Barbe Rac that should be at its best between 2010 and 2025. (RP)" (10/2007) 95 points Wine Spectator: "A very supple, stylish version, with lots of cherry and plum fruit caressed by notes of sandalwood, vanilla and mesquite. The long, fine-grained finish ...Read More »

2015 Clos Saint Jean "Deus Ex Machina" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

95-98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deeper, more masculine, graphite-laced and structured, the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Deux Ex Machina (60/40 Grenache and Mourvèdre) always shows a huge, meaty, roasted herb, kirsch and darker fruit profile. Like the other 2015s here, it shines for its purity, but this is a big, mouth-filling and unctuous beauty that’s both a hedonistic and intellectual turn on. The two Maurel brothers, along with the ever-present Philippe Cambie, have brought this large estate up to the pinnacle of the Châteauneuf du Pape hierarchy, and they’ve produced so many monumen ...Read More »

2015 Chateau de Vaudieu Chateauneuf-du-Pape "Val de Dieu" (Pre-Arrival)

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Val de Dieu is another serious, concentrated and incredibly layered wine from this rock star estate. Made from 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, aged mostly in demi-muids, it has a kiss of toasty oak as well as notes of crème de cassis, toasted spiced, candied cherries and potpourri. This full-bodied, pure, elegant effort packs a ton of fruit, but like all of the wines here, is never over the top, stays balanced and graceful. Located just next to Rayas, this large, historic estate has been run with incredible prec ...Read More »

2015 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (Pre-Arrival)

94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape is reminiscent of a slightly improved 2005 and has a fresh, classic style with beautiful concentration, notable freshness, first-rate tannin quality, and the classic spice and sweet red and black fruits this cuvee is known for. I suspect this beauty will close down relatively quickly after bottling and take 5-6 years to show at its best, but it will drink well for 15+ years. (JD)" (10/2016)

2015 Roger Sabon "Prestige" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival)

93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Prestige includes slightly more Syrah than the other cuvées and is 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre and the rest a mix of permitted varieties. It’s easily the largest, richest and most full-bodied of the lineup and has lots of blackberry, plum, peppery herbs and roasted herb characteristics. Like all of the 2015s here, it has serious purity, as well as ripe tannin. Didier Negron has been the winemaker at this remarkable estate since 2001, and he’s yet to put a foot wrong. It’s important to realize that the estate make ...Read More »
