2006 Taittinger "Comtes de Champagne" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne Top Pick!
2006 Taittinger "Comtes de Champagne" Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne

97 points Decanter: "The 2006 brings back all the wonder of classic Comtes: the innocence of a joyful childhood, a free-as-air dash through endless blue daylight and a breathless plunge into an icy mountain rock pool. A wine of coiled energy, focus, precision and minerality that bores to the very core of the finest chalkfields of the Côte des Blancs." (1/2016) 97 points Vinous: "The 2006 Comtes de Champagne is striking, especially in the way it brings together elements of ripeness and freshness in a hypothetical blend of the 2002 and 2004. 2009 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne

97 points James Suckling: "This is a DP that shows the ripeness of the 2009 vintage yet remains full of energy. Gorgeous aromas of cream, apple, mango, honeysuckle, and chalk follow through to a full body and super fine, tight texture. Dense and agile. Vinous. It’s like a top grand cru white Burgundy. Think Batard-Montrachet. More depth than the 2006." (7/2017) 96 points Decanter: "Unbroken sun through August and early September helped to shape an idyllic harvest, on 12th September. Superb maturity of fruit in flawless health has produced a wine with wafting scents of both fresh and confit of spiced lem ...Read More »

This classic Sezanne Champagne is composed of 96% Chardonnay and 4% Pinot Noir aged over 8 years on the lees. It is dosed at under 8g/l and all stainlees steel fermented. This is a classic 2008, with fantastic drive, length and minerality, and should age very well if you can keep your hands off of it! (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer)

2009 Baron-Fuenté "Grand Millesime" Brut Champagne

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Aube-based producer’s latest vintage release is rich and creamy. It is young, although it is possible to find the texture and density that will allow it to age. It is in a crisp style, tight with acidity, finishing taut and mineral. Drink from 2019. (RV)" (8/2018) K&L Notes: This all estate grown gem from Baron Fuente is composed of 45% Chardonnay, 40% Meunier, and 15% Pinot Noir from around Charly-sur-Marne. Always a rough blend of 60/40 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from estate vineyards, it has a toasty, yet pure bouquet of stone fruits, rising bread, white flowers, and toasted bread, as well as a terrific sense of chalky minerality. 2007 Bollinger "Grande Année" Brut Champagne

Over 90% of this cuvée was sourced from Grand Cru sites, with the balance from Premier Cru villages. Vinified all in older barrels and aged 6 years in bottle on lees, it boasts a deep, rich, creamy style as well as full-bodied notes of ripe stone fruits, wood smoke, and spice. It has vibrant acidity, impressive length, and notable purity, all making for a classy, impressive Champagne that will keep for 10-15 years." Unusually for the house, the blend is just 53% Pinot Noir and 47% Chardonnay but like every great champagne its ‘ying and yang’ are in perfect symmetry. So we have the volume, structure and depth balanced by the cut and thrust of the acidity. On the palate are layers of cream, honey, nuts, brioche, pear, marzipan and ginger. Vibrant acidity drives the satinlike finish. Drink now through 2030. The wine offers intense and super ripe tropical fruit aromas (melons, mangos) along with honey flavors on the very complex nose.
