2012 Kathryn Kennedy "Estate" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "A thoroughly elegant, serious and yet immensely enjoyable wine that stays lively many days after opening, this bottling from a regional icon shows dried violets, dried strawberry, crushed pepper and touches of leather and soy on the wondrous nose. Lithe black plum and elderberry fruits ride along a tight but forgiving tannic structure, with support from crushed gravel, asphalt, potpourri, sandalwood and cedar flavors." 2014 Varner "Bee Block-Spring Ridge Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay

95 points Vinous: "The 2014 Chardonnay Bee Block is the standout in this lineup of Chardonnays from Bob and Jim Varner. Wonderfully complete and layered, the 2014 is all about balance, harmony and proportion. Everything is in the right place. The combination of phenolic intensity and creaminess is deftly balanced in a Chardonnay endowed with both tension and enough mid-palate intensity to give the wine its sense of openness. 2013 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "**#9 in the Enthusiast 100 of 2016** and an *Editors' Choice* While this wine’s Mount Eden sister bottling may better stand the test of time, the Domaine Eden is what most people will most like to drink right now, and it’s cheaper too. Aromas of dried violets, uncrushed boysenberries and pencil lead make for an ethereal nose that seems to hold secrets one must uncover. Precise tannins on the palate offer floral yet savory flavors of black sesame, nori, violet and mulberry. It’s mellow yet mysterious." 2013 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay

Dried pear, dried flowers, sage, mint and chamomile grace the palate in this understated, exquisite Chardonnay. Hints of smoke, slate and dried pear reappear on the super-classic, expressive finish. What a gorgeous wine this is. Quite simply, the 2013 Domaine Eden Chardonnay is a tremendous wine for the money. In 2013, the blend is approximately 72% declassified Mt. The palate is very energetic and tangy, with orange peels, crushed sea shells and a touch of salt hanging from an extremely well-chiseled structure. Inky dark red and blue-fleshed fruit, smoke, spices and licorice hit the palate as this exuberant, radiant Cabernet shows off its racy personality. 2013 Varner "Three Blocks-Spring Ridge Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir

A rich, phenolic wine, the 2013 offers notable depth, with silky, creamy tannins that wrap around a core of dark red cherry and plum fruit. There is a hint of reduction, but that is not a negative. Readers who enjoy focused Chardonnays will find much to admire in the 2014. This is a gorgeous wine from Ridge. Lemon, white pepper and mint add the closing layers of nuance. In 2014, Ridge bottled less of their Monte Bello Chardonnay than the norm, which may be one of the reasons the Estate is so expressive. The combination of the vintage and a bit more of a hands-off approach in the cellar has resulted in a deep, highly expressive Pinot Noir endowed with real class and personality. The inclusion of 50% whole clusters adds to the wine's aromatic and palate presence. The 2014 was not fined or filtered. Readers should expect a slightly cloudy wine. (AG)" (2/2016)

But the weight and overall structure are very clearly those of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Lemon, flowers, white pepper and chalk are all nicely delineated throughout. Readers will have to be especially patient with the Home Block, as it is quite reticent at this stage. (AG)" (7/2016) Jancis Robinson: "Smoky, lively, very lightly reductive nose. 2009 Mount Eden "Estate" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot): Deep ruby. Powerful, smoke-accented cherry and blackcurrant aromas are energized by zesty minerals, picking up pipe tobacco, cedar and dried rose nuances with air. Fleshy and broad but focused too, offering intense dark berry flavors and a suggestion of bitter chocolate. A sweet vanilla quality rounds out the impressively persistent finish, which shows superb clarity and solid but well-knit tannins. (JR)" (12/2013) 91 points Wine & Spirits: "A plump, black-fruited vintage of Mount Eden, this wine is showing ...Read More »

2012 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Chardonnay Alpine Vineyard is absolutely stunning! Giving up incredible notes of flinty minerality, green citrus, lemon curd and exotic flowers, this beautiful Chardonnay builds on the palate, with medium to full-bodied richness, vibrant acidity and a clean, laser-focused finish that just keeps going. It continues to gain in richness with time in the glass, yet never loses its classy, pure and elegant demeanor. It should benefit from a year or more in the cellar and have a decade or more of prime drinking after that. (JD)" (4/2015) 94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Green-tinged ye ...Read More »

2007 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC)
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 97JS, 94ST, 94W&S, 92RP, 92WS) in original wood. James Suckling: "Blueberries, currants and flowers. The nose just pops out. Intense. Full body, with a round and velvety tannin structure and lots of currants, ripe strawberries. Very intense every. Black pepper at the finish. Muscular yet toned. Very structured yet balanced. This needs a minimum of four to five years of aging. Paul Draper says that perhaps this is as great as the legendary 1991. Made for aging." (05/2012)

1996 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1996 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Bello (80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and 9% Petit Verdot that reached 13.4% alcohol) represents a severe selection of only 40% of the vineyard's crop. A blockbuster, powerful, concentrated Monte Bello, it possesses an opaque purple color, plenty of spicy oak in the nose (100% American oak has always been used for aging Monte Bello), and a deep, layered, concentrated style. There is plenty of tannin, but it is sweeter than that found in the 1997, and the wine is more concentrated and extracted. There is a touch of oak in the flavors, which are otherwise dominated by minerals and jammy black fruits. This is a terrific Monte Bello that will have 30+ years of life. (RP)" (12/1998)

Osocalis XO Alambic Brandy (750ml)

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Top 50 Spirits of 2011* From a small family-run distillery, this blend of 'older' California brandies has a vibrant golden-orange color and a sweet apples-and-honey note. On the palate, creamy citrus flavors finish big and rich, with caramel, ginger and cinnamon notes, and a soft texture. Pair with a fruit dessert, like apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Come to think of it, this brandy would be dynamite simply poured over ice cream, too." (12/2011) K&L Notes: Brand new from the local legend of Osocalis (based in the Santa Cruz Mountains)! Their hugely anticipated XO... Read More »
