2013 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir Top Pick!
2013 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "**#9 in the Enthusiast 100 of 2016** and an *Editors' Choice* While this wine’s Mount Eden sister bottling may better stand the test of time, the Domaine Eden is what most people will most like to drink right now, and it’s cheaper too. Aromas of dried violets, uncrushed boysenberries and pencil lead make for an ethereal nose that seems to hold secrets one must uncover. Precise tannins on the palate offer floral yet savory flavors of black sesame, nori, violet and mulberry. It’s mellow yet mysterious." 2014 Neely "Holly's Cuvée-Spring Ridge Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay (Previously $48)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Chardonnay Holly's Cuvee is a big, rich and sexy white that nevertheless manages to stay fresh, livey and pure. Possessing lots of tropical fruits, flower oil, honeysuckle and a hint of peach, it's already hard to resist, and I don't see any need to delay gratification either. I suspect this will be the last vintage made by Jim and Bob Varner, who no longer works with the fruit from the Spring Valley Vineyard. (JD)" (10/2016)

2012 Kathryn Kennedy "Estate" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "A thoroughly elegant, serious and yet immensely enjoyable wine that stays lively many days after opening, this bottling from a regional icon shows dried violets, dried strawberry, crushed pepper and touches of leather and soy on the wondrous nose. Lithe black plum and elderberry fruits ride along a tight but forgiving tannic structure, with support from crushed gravel, asphalt, potpourri, sandalwood and cedar flavors." 2013 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay Top Pick!
2013 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay

93 points Vinous: "Domaine Eden's 2013 Chardonnay is subtle, poised and gracious to the core. Dried pear, dried flowers, sage, mint and chamomile grace the palate in this understated, exquisite Chardonnay. Hints of smoke, slate and dried pear reappear on the super-classic, expressive finish. What a gorgeous wine this is. Quite simply, the 2013 Domaine Eden Chardonnay is a tremendous wine for the money. In 2013, the blend is approximately 72% declassified Mt. 2014 Kathryn Kennedy "Small Lot" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon

Though the 2014 has yet to be professionally reviewed, the 2013 earned praise from Jeb Dunnuck of The Wine Advocate: "Softer, more forward and textured than the Serious Merlot, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Small Lot is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot that saw 20 months in 50% new French oak and 50% American oak. Spice, creme de cassis, smoked earth and mint all emerge from this medium-bodied effort that's ideal for drinking over the coming 7-8 years."

2013 Thomas Fogarty Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Editors' Choice and #14 in Best 100 of 2016* From one of the preeminent Chardonnay producers in the country comes their least expensive yet perhaps most stunning bottling, showing strong lemon rind, sea salt, Gravenstein apple and a floral touch of honeysuckle on the nose. The wondrously zippy and saline palate is framed by a grippy, grapefruit-rind-led tension, but opens just enough to allow the slightest hints of lemon curd and delicate marzipan warmth. Possessing medium to full-bodied richness, solid mid-palate depth and fabulous precision and focus, with classy notes of sauteed apples, crushed rocks, spice and flowers, it opens up beautifully with time in the glass and is a killer white that readers need to seek out. There is a hint of reduction, but that is not a negative. Readers who enjoy focused Chardonnays will find much to admire in the 2014. This is a gorgeous wine from Ridge. Lemon, white pepper and mint add the closing layers of nuance. In 2014, Ridge bottled less of their Monte Bello Chardonnay than the norm, which may be one of the reasons the Estate is so expressive. The flavors are dark and intense throughout, but it is the wine's center and overall depth that are most compelling at this stage. Still quite primary, the Upper Picnic could use a few years in bottle to enter the sweet spot. The Upper Picnic offers a compelling interplay of intensity and freshness. The combination of the vintage and a bit more of a hands-off approach in the cellar has resulted in a deep, highly expressive Pinot Noir endowed with real class and personality. They strive to create products that have the length, elegance and finesse of old world brandies, such as Cognac and Calvados, but with the fruit intensity and structure of California wines. It should drink well for 10+ years. These organically, dry-farmed vineyards located ten miles from the Pacific Ocean in the Santa Cruz Mountains are managed by two brothers. I was super-impressed by their attitude as well as their statement that “90% of what we do to contribute to our quality is work in the vineyard.” All of these wines are minimally processed with indigenous yeast fermentations, hand racking, and are produced in relatively small quantities, ranging from 95 cases of the Pinot Noir Three Blocks, to nearly 500 cases of the Chardonnay B Block. Fans of the Rhys wines will flip over the Family Farm in 2010. (AG)" (8/2012) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep ruby. Intensely floral aromas of spicy red fruits and game, with a smoky topnote. Deeper bitter cherry and black raspberry flavors are complicated by anise and cola and gently firmed by fine-grained tannins. Impr ...Read More »

2011 Rhys "Family Farm Vineyard" San Mateo County Pinot Noir Back In Stock!
2011 Rhys "Family Farm Vineyard" San Mateo County Pinot Noir

93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red. Black raspberry, cherry pit, Asian spices and smoky oak on the nose. Fine-grained and sappy, with strong lift to the flavors of dark raspberry, bitter cherry and blood orange. Finishes long, on a faintly medicinal note, with sweet harmonious tannins and lingering spiciness. (ST)" (5/2013) 91 points Vinous: "The 2011 Pinot Noir Family Farm Vineyard is one of the wilder wines in this range of 2011 Pinots. Game, tar, licorice and dark fruits all take on an intensely mineral personality with distinct volcanic overtones reminiscent of Aglianico and Taurasi. The layered, ...Read More »

2008 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir Back In Stock!
2008 Rhys "Alpine Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains Pinot Noir

92-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The deep ruby-colored 2008 Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard (a 10-acre parcel planted at 1,400 feet) possesses a big, sweet, powerful nose of raspberries, spring flowers, damp earth, and mossy, foresty vegetation. Sweet currants, pomegranates, and black raspberries also emerge on the palate of this full-bodied effort. With excellent acidity and delineation as well as a weighty, long, rich mouthfeel with lots of structure and tannin, this enormously promising wine suggests a long life if stored in a cold cellar. (RP)" (2/2010) 95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Pure, highly expressive ...Read More »

1995 Mount Eden Estate Pinot Noir New!
1995 Mount Eden Estate Pinot Noir

According to Robert Parker: "The 1995 Pinot Noir offers a medium ruby color, as well as an excellent, sweet, black cherry nose intermixed with smoke, dried herbs, and minerals. There is lovely ripeness, medium body, and a quick finish....Mt. Eden's Pinot Noirs are elegant, Cote de Beaune-styled examples, with surprising longevity. I had my last bottle of 1985 this fall, and was extremely pleased to see how fresh, lively, and complex it had remained." (12/98)

2014 Birichino "Old Vine" Central Coast Saint Georges Zinfandel

A new winery with founders who are by no means newbies to the wine game, Birichino is the result of a collaboration between Alex Krause and John Locke. The duo sources fruit from vineyards that feature own-rooted vines and vinify the grapes with minimal intervention.
