2014 Gundlach Bundschu "Mountain Cuvée" Sonoma County Red Blend

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Mountain Cuvee is a blend of 56% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Malbec and 1% Petite Verdot. Deep garnet purple in color, it is scented of ripe plums, black currants, spice box and dried Mediterranean herbs. The full-bodied palate provides plenty of mouth-filling black fruit and spice flavors, with velvety tannins and ample freshness, leading to a long, relatively uncomplicated finish. Great value! (LPB)" (2/2017) Wine Enthusiast: "This hearty blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller amounts of Malbec and Petit Verdot is a great go-to wine for a crow ...Read More »

2014 Olema Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points James Suckling: "A fresh and linear Sonoma cabernet with currant, berry and cherry. Medium body, firm and silky tannins. Excellent wine for the money. Go-to cab for the buck." (5/2017) K&L Notes: James Suckling calls this his go-to Cab for the money, and we couldn't agree more. As the winery explains, "the 2014 Olema Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes hand selected off vineyards in Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys in Sonoma County. This well-balanced wine features layers of juicy red and black fruit framed by soft tannins. 2014 was an excellent vintage for Sono... Read More »

2014 Louis M. Martini Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the best values in Cabernet Sauvignon anywhere in the world remains Louis Martini’s Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County (89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot and the rest Petite Sirah, Cabernet Franc and other varieties) is just a beautiful wine. Dense ruby/purple with classic tobacco leaf, blackcurrant, loamy soil notes and a touch of wood spice, this wine (aged 16 months in French and American oak) has relatively modest alcohol for Cabernets these days (13.5%), and what’s even more remarkable is that there are 408,0 ...Read More »

2013 Arrowood Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

91 points Vinous: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (Knights Valley), all Knights Valley fruit in this vintage, is superb. Raspberry jam, spice, scorched earth, rose petal, cloves and new leather are some of the signatures. Knights Valley is often noted for Graves-like sense of gravel-infused minerality, naturally allied to a California expression of fruit. That is exactly what readers will find in the 2013. 2013 Pied á Terre Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

Richard Luftig worked 20+ years in NYC as a professional wine buyer. His winery, Pied á Terre (foot to earth) was born out of his love for wine and his frustration at not being able to find an affordable, high quality Cabernet from California. Truly a labor of love, Richards says, "It is not a path easily traveled. I am not producing Pied à Terre for financial gain. Rather, I am doing so because nothing is more satisfying than introducing wine lovers to a great bottle of wine, and one that is also very reasonably priced. This is both my vocation as a w... 2013 Gundlach Bundschu "Vintage Reserve" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Proprietary Red Vintage Reserve is the winery’s rendition of the very best lots of their Bordeaux varietals blended together and presented in an artistic package. Inky purple to the rim, the wine has flawless integration of acidity, alcohol and tannin, beautiful espresso-infused blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, chocolate, full-bodied opulence, and stunning purity and length. It is special a wine with probably 25-35 years of aging potential, even though it is more accessible than the two Cabernets from Moon Mountain. This is a beauty, so kudos ...Read More »

2004 Anakota "Helena Dakota" Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Dakota, which comes from a 750-foot elevation, is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 14 months in all French oak. It shows lots of white chocolate, dense opaque purple color, a hint of red and black currants, floral notes and some crushed rock/wet stones. It is very dense, powerful, rich and full-bodied and still shows considerable tannin. Forget this wine for another 4-5 years and drink it over the following 20-plus years. (6/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Even the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Olema offers plenty of value in an elegant, tasty, cedary, blackcurrant-scented and flavored wine that has good concentration, light tannin and a tasty, savory mouthfeel. 1994 Kenwood "Artist Series" Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Wine Spectator: "Beautifully crafted, sleek and elegant, sharply focused on ripe, rich cherry, currant, plum and berry. Picks up pretty floral and spicy nuances and the tannins, while firm, are supple and integrated." (11/1998) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A strong performance from a vintage considered among the best; this comes on and stays intense through the close. However, the wine’s scale caused some doubts to be registered about its balance—it’s pretty hot, and high in alcohol. Still, few argued with the toast, dark berry and licorice nose, the dark spicy-sweet flavors or rich, even mouthfeel. C ...Read More »

2014 Mount Peak "Sentinel" Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Lastly, 4,750 cases were made of the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Sentinel, 83% from the Monte Rosso Vineyard in Sonoma and the rest from other Sonoma sources. It is a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petite Sirah aged in 53% new French oak. Again, ripeness is well-noted in the 15.7% alcohol, but there is not a bit of heat to the wine’s overall character. A wine of considerable stature, gravitas, intensity and full-bodied power, it is muscular, backward and somewhat primordial, this wine needs a good 1-2 more years bottle age and should last for 25-30 y ...Read More »

Shows lots of generous fruit with chocolate, lilies and other flowers. Full and round, velvety tannins with lots of strawberry character too. This is gorgeous. Drink it but will improve." (VB)" (12/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Counterpoint gives youthful notes of crushed blackberries and black currants with hints of cedar and dried herbs. The wine exhibits notes of forest floor intermixed with chocolate, blueberry, blackberry, espresso, and spice. It is strikingly more tannic, and closed compared to the 2005, which is almost the reverse of the vintage character. There were only 2,000 cases produced of the 2004, which needs 2-3 years of bottle age and should drink well for 15+ years.
