92 points Wine Spectator: "*Smart Buys* This expressive white is aromatic and juicy, featuring a rich, ripe, fleshy core of apricot and peach flavors, with accents of vanilla bean, honeysuckle and melon. A spicy note lingers on the long finish. Viognier, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Chardonnay. Drink now. 5,100 cases made." (10/2016)
90 points Wine Spectator: "Fragrant and juicy, offering a charming mix of honeysuckle, peach, apple and lemon verbena, set on a light and effortless frame. A mouthwatering vein runs throughout. Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Sémillon and Muscat Canelli. (Web Only - 2016)" (8/2016)
92 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Editors' Choice* 0 The fruit flavors are apparent, fresh and lively in this medium-bodied, beautifully balanced brut. Light pear and pineapple aromas are followed by richer pear and citrus flavors, and subtle hints of baking spices, almonds and a nice earthy touch emerge. (JG)" (12/2015) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Sleek and charming, with yeasty apple torte and floral cherry aromas leading to rich, crisp flavors of lemon curd, spicy vanilla and fresh ginger. (TF)" (12/2015) Connoisseurs Guide: "*One Star* As always a very bright and vital wine and, in this case, one that emphasizes freshness more than ye ...Read More »
90 points Wine & Spirits: "An elegant wine with tart and juicy sour cherry flavors, this has the full fatness of ripe California fruit. Yet it's harmonious, not aggressive, a finely balanced sparkler for duck meatballs." (12/2009) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Impeccably dry, with a delicate salmon hue and strawberry and lime aromas. Flavors are vibrant and crisp, with notes of watermelon and graham cracker. (TF)" (12/2011) Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Light peach skin color, with a slow bead. Musky orange peel and herb aromas, with a hint of white chocolate. Fleshy, weighty and smooth in texture, offering ripe citrus and pit fruit flavors an ...Read More »
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Readers who love Rhone whites need to grab a few bottles of the 2014 The First Date, which reminds me of a great vintage of Beaucastel's Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc! Made from 52% Roussanne, 46% Grenache Blanc and 2% Viognier, its light gold color is followed by awesome notes of buttered citrus, white flowers, peach and crushed rock-like minerality. Pure, full-bodied, beautifully textured and layered, it has a core of sweet fruit, integrated acidity and a great finish. It's a blockbuster white readers shouldn't miss. (JD)" (8/2016)
90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The outstanding NV Brut Rosé (66% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay and 1% Pinot Meunier) displays loads of strawberry and Kir cocktail-like notes in a fresh, light to medium-bodied, delicious style that is essentially dry, with tiny, well-formed bubbles and good, crisp acids. (RP)" (10/2015)
93 points Wine & Spirits: "The 2010 vintage on the North Coast was mostly cool, until a blistering late-August heat wave created sunburn challenges and uneven ripening in many vineyards. At the cool Iron Horse estate in Green Valley, the effects were less drastic. In fact, winemaker David Munksgard’s pinot-dominant Classic Vintage Brut is remarkably pure in 2010, the flavors intense and red-fruited at first, slowly receding in a delicate mousse that lasts on cool scents of chamomile, lemon blossoms and biscuit. The acidity is bright, the texture gentle, evoking the ocean breezes a ...Read More »
Natural wine is the order of the day from Broc Cellars, with this wine coming from vines that are over 100 years old.
90 points Vinous: "Pale yellow. Anjou pear and tangerine on the incisive, mineral-tinged nose. Silky, taut and focused, offering lemon pith, green apple and honeysuckle flavors and a touch of fennel. Closes with firm grip and very good, tangy persistence, leaving floral and orchard fruit notes behind. (JR)" (9/2016) Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The entry level white is the 2015 Patelin de Tablas Blanc, which is mostly Grenache Blanc, yet incorporates 23% Viognier, 13% Roussanne and 9% Marsanne. Brought up all in stainless steel, it's a fresh, exotic, medium-bodied effort that gives up lots of Meyer lemo ...Read More »
A blend of: 45% tocai friulano, 41% ribolla gialla, 14% chardonnay.
96 points Connoisseurs Guide: "This extraordinarily deep, explicitly champenized offering is a study in contrasts when it is compared to Schramberg's 2007 Reserve, for, while both are nearing their tenth anniversaries, this one shows its autolysis in a more refined light and wears its age with more elegance. It is rife with crème brûlée richness but has retained a subtle, but very sure sense of slightly juicy fruit that has not faded with time. It is a complete and compelling package that reveals more and more with each sip, and it ranks among the very best sparkling wines to be made ...Read More »
Italian wine fans might recognize this varietal, which is extremely uncommon here in the US, but if the Birichino Malvasia Bianca is any indication of its potential, this won't be the last time. In Italian the word "birichino" refers to the fun-loving mischievousness of someone who lives the sweet life. With its incredibly floral nose - think lime, jasmine and elderflowers - you might think this wine would be sweet on the palate, but it is surprisingly (and pleasingly) bone dry, refreshing and minerally with tangy green apple and citrus fruit. Try this w... Read More »
91 points Vinous: "Green-tinged yellow. Ripe pear and nectarine aromas show very good depth and clarity, turning spicier with air. Smooth, warm and open-knit, offering an array of pit and citrus fruit flavors that tighten up on the back half. A floral note comes up on the fragrant, focused, fruity finish." (9/2015) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Probably the leanest example of this cuvee I've tasted, the 2013 Esprit de Tablas Blanc checks in as 71% Roussanne, 21% Grenache Blanc and 8% Picpoul that saw 10 months in mostly neutral foudre. It offers pretty, salty minerality in its leafy herbs, citrus and sto ...Read More »
91 points Wine Spectator: "Focused and vibrant, with aromas of creamy apple, cinnamon and hazelnut leading to complex, layered flavors of lemon custard, mineral and almond. The finish lingers." (9/2013) 90 points Wine & Spirits: "Roederer Estate’s Brut is reliably open and delicious, this year’s cuvée bursting with concentrated apple flavor. It’s clean and dry with a long, delicate finish enhanced by the barrel-aged reserve wines that winemaker Arnaud Weyrich blends in. Its bold flavors and vinous texture would be great with cracked crab." (12/2014) Connoisseurs Guide: "*One Star* Taking its usual place among the better basic Bruts ...Read More »
89-90 points Vinous: "The 2015 Vermentino - Hers - Green Las Brisas Vineyard, tasted from barrel, offers lovely depth and nuance. Expressive floral notes meld into a core of varietal green orchard fruit in this pretty, refreshing Vermentino. The 2015 was done in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak. Ryan Glaab has taken the big step of leaving his post as assistant winemaker at Wind Gap to focus on Ryme, the label he runs with his wife, Megan. 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A cellar selection that comes from two blocks of older Roussanne vines that were planted in 1996 and 2001, the 2013 L'Avion (100% barrel-fermented Roussanne) is beautiful, and a clear step up over the straight Roussanne. Giving up fabulous notes of butter peach, creme, flower, brioche and honey, it's full-bodied, concentrated and juicy, with beautiful freshness balanced by plenty of fruit. I'd drink it over the coming year or two, but it will certainly have an interesting evolution well past that. This will give many an Hermitage and St Joseph Blanc a ru ...Read More »
92 points Wine Spectator: "A luxurious sparkler, with toasty brioche, mineral and lemon brûlée aromas and rich, complex flavors of crisp apple and raspberry, showing accents of fresh ginger and spice. Drink now through 2017." (9/2016) K&L Notes: L'Ermitage, Roederer Estate's special Tête de Cuvée, is a sparkling wine made only in exceptional years from pre-selected, estate-grown grapes. Carrying on the tradition of Champagne Louis Roederer in France, Roederer Estate produces its sparkling wines in the traditional French methode and adds special oak-aged reserve wines to each blend. Vinous: "Light yellow. Ripe peach and melon on the nose, with a hint of candied fig emerging slowly. Round and open-knit, offering subtly sweet orchard and pit fruit flavors along with some warmth on the back half. The melon note repeats on the persistent finish. (JR)" (9/2015) Wine Enthusiast: "This genre-busting blend of 54% Viognier, 22% Vermentino, 15% Verdelho and 9% Sauvignon Blanc invites the nose with ripe red and pink apples, lime blossoms and zest and a shred of bubble gum. The quite-ripe palate sizzles with cider notes as well as more lime and Gala apple elements. (MK) ...Read More »

90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "**Good Value** It may be that its fairly high percentage of Pinot Noir affords this impressive non-vintage Brut with a sense of substance and depth not usually found at the price, or it may be the wine's ample autolyzed richness does the same. Either way, the wine is long on character, all of which is quite good. It has a fine, creamy feel, and an insistent stream of small bubbles with lengthy flavors to match, and it is made all the more attractive yet by its reasonably modest price." Recently named a "Winemaker to Watch" by San Francisco Chronicle, Forlorn Hope's Matthew Rorick is dedicated to producing wines that represent an "eclectic curation of California's lesser-known and forgotten." (JB, 02/2013) The 2012 "Que Sandade" Verdelho contains fruit from two vineyards. Half comes from the DeWitt vineyard, where elevation and granite soils promote minerality and naturally fresh acidity. The other half comes from the Vista Luna Vineyard, a unique site organically farmed by Markus Bokisch, composed of gravelly loam soils with a giant qu... Read More »
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "While highly recognized for his red winemaking ability, Mike Officer can certainly do nice things with white grapes, too. He never picks easy ones, though. The 2013 Proprietary White The Derivative is a blend of 55% Semillon, 16% Muscadelle, 16% Colombard and 13% Palomino. The result is a delicious old-vine blend that is dry, has modest alcohol (14.3%), shows loads of delicious white citrus and a hint of floral notes, medium body, and a zesty, rather naked feel. Some new oak was used in the fermentation of the Semillon, but the wine generally spent most ...Read More »

2013 Sine Qua Non "Résisté" Central Coast Proprietary White
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2013 Sine Qua Non "Résisté" Central Coast Proprietary White (97RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "the 2013 White Wine Resiste is a sensational white from California that's made from 45% Roussanne, 26% Chardonnay, 14% Petite Manseng, 10% Viognier and 5% Marsanne that spent 19 months in 46% new French oak and the balance in concrete eggs and used barrels. Possessing rock-star levels of richness and texture on the palate, with full-bodied depth and power that never seems heavy or cumbersome, it has classic SQN white notes of buttered golden fruits, honeysuckle, honeycomb, toast and white flowers. Unctuous, full-flavored and still lively and fresh, it needs 2-3 years of cellaring and will keep for two decades. (JD)" (08/2015)

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Tight yet inviting aromas of honeysuckle, cement and green banana show on the nose of this ready-to-drink though possible-to-age wine. It's a lively sipper, with fresh-squeezed lime and tangelo flavors laid across an incredibly chalky texture. (MK)" (9/2016) K&L Notes: From the winery: "2014 is the fifth vintage of our Holus Bolus blanc and it is our best one yet. We found a great new vineyard source for our Roussanne: the much heralded "Bien Nacido Vineyard" in Santa Maria Valley. This is a block that for the past decade has gone into Qupé’s Hillside Estate Roussann... Read More »
From the producer: "Medium gold in color, you'll first notice aromas of grass, honeysuckle, delicate green apple, and lemon meringue pie. Like a golden Sonoma County field, you're invited in to enjoy all it has to offer. It's crisp and refreshing, with a clean finish that makes it perfect for a hot day, or a nice easy conversation with friends. Take this wine on your next bicycling or fishing trip or pair it with some lovely oysters from Tomales Bay!"
90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Pale straw. High-pitched green apple, lemon zest and honeysuckle scents, with a mineral element emerging slowly. Dry and nervy on the palate, offering bitter pear skin and quince flavors and a hint of tarragon. Pretty racy for this variety, especially for a New World version. Closes floral and long, with repeating minerality and bright, nervy cut. (JR)" (9/2015) 90 points Wine & Spirits: "Grown on a north-facing slope of limestone-rich soil and raised in used barrels, this is almost waxy at first, yet a generous addition of tangy picpoul blanc (19 percent of the blend) pulls it into ...Read More »

93 points Vinous: "Arbe Garbe's 2015 Benandants Malvasia Bianca Catie's Corner Vineyard is a real head-turner. Deeply varietal to the core, the 2015 offers tons of Malvasia exoticness and perfume, with beams of supporting acidity that give the wine its freshness and verve. Lemon confit, jasmine and mint are all given an extra kick of brightness on the intensely mineral finish. (AG)" (7/2016)
Wine Enthusiast: "*Very Good/Recommended* Pale gold hue. Opening aromas merely hint at quinine, herbs and botanicals; later on, with further air contact, the quinine becomes the dominant factor. Palate entry is stone-dry, tart, herbal and winey; at midpalate, the wine quality takes a back seat to the herbs and botanicals. Finishes with a flash of quinine." (12/2009) K&L Notes: Can ship to "NO SPIRIT" states because this is wine-based. This California vermouth has hints of lavender, sage orris, and linden that furnish a note of coolness, while wines made from Colombard and Orange Musc... Read More »
From the producer: "Brut Rose is the most vivid and bold of our Sparklings, both in terms of flavor and color. Made mostly from Pinot Noir - bright, full, dry with a soft, almost creamy mouthfeel. The gorgeous color comes form letting the Pinot Noir sit on the skins. This vintage is aged 6 plus years en tirage."
91 points Robert Parker: "The 2006 Roussanne Estate, which includes 25% Viognier in the blend, is a heavier, more waxy style of white wine that appears to possess some tannin. As this varietal often does, this full-bodied effort comes across as a “love it or leave it” wine. I happen to adore this style, but their aging curve is almost impossible to predict. I recommend drinking these Roussannes on the earlier rather than later side. This offering would drink beautifully with fatty fish or grilled chicken dishes as it almost has the weight, richness, and ... Read More »

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "* Editors’ Choice * This unusual blend combines old-vine Sémillon from the Monte Rosso Vineyard with Muscadelle and Palomino. Voluptuous on the nose, the wine is restrained on the palate, with inviting layers of licorice, beeswax and stone fruit. Exotic and long lasting, it’s an intriguing wine." (5/2015) 92 points Vinous: "The 2012 The Derivative is striking. Melon, quince and white flowers are some of the notes that flesh out in this intensely aromatic, perfumed white. 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I opted to just list my scores for the older releases as I find Bob's initial write-ups spot on. (JD) [This exceptional effort is a model example of what can be done with white varietals in California’s Central Coast. An exceptional bouquet of lemon blossom, nectarine, orange marmalade-infused honey, quince, and citrus are stunningly aromatic and provide profound richness, yet the freshness, precision, and overall lift are remarkable for a wine of this power and intensity. It offers a prodigious glass of dry white wine that should drink handsomely for a ...Read More »

90 points Vinous: "Green apple, pear, mint and a hint of spice are some of the notes that open up in the 2014 Grenache Blanc Thompson Vineyard. Energetic and beautifully delineated, the 2014 offers tons of varietal character and nuance. Drink this refreshing white over the next year or two. This range of new releases from Craig Jaffurs is full of highlights. The whites, which had a bit of residual sugar last year, are drier and also more focused, while the Syrahs are consistent and, at the top level, simply brilliant. Its always a pleasure to taste through this lineup. I c ...Read More »
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Proprietary White Blindfold is a cross-AVA blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Marsanne as well as a touch of Semillon. This wine is gorgeous, with oodles of rose petal, honeysuckle, melon and white peach notes in the aromatics and flavors. It is medium-bodied, quite complex, and best drunk over the next 1-2 years. (RP)" (10/2015) Wine Spectator: "Rich and unctuous, a blend of toasted cedar, nutmeg, honeysuckle and vanilla bean notes, with a fleshy stone fruit core and toasted nut accents on the finish. The "Wedding Cuvée" is the very latest iteration of this first-class California sparkling wine, although iteration may be a tad too cool and technical for this festive and elegant wine, what Iron Horse calls their "most romantic bubbly." It's a very pale pink blanc de noirs, from primarily Pinot Noir grapes. Like most Iron Horse sparkling, however, it's fairly dry and lean, with hints of red fruit. A 90+ point wine in recent vintages with all the top wine magazines and critics. This wine, naturally, is made to pair with a variety of foods: "A food friend... Read More »

97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2008 Kolibri continues the brilliant success Krankl has had with dry whites. As one can see when visiting his cellars, he is now using the fashionable concrete eggs as part of the white wines' upbringing. About 25% new French oak is used, and the balance is older barrels. Most of the fruit is from estate vineyards, with about 18% purchased from the Bien Nacido Vineyard. The final blend is 69% Roussanne and 31% Viognier. As is found in all Krankl's whites, the 2008 Kolibri possesses extraordinary aromatics. Abundant notes of marmalade, honeysuckle, wh ...Read More »

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2003 Sublime Isolation is a blend of 44% Chardonnay, 37% Roussanne, and 19% Viognier, all from the Alban vineyard. Aromatically restrained by SQN standards, with coaxing it offers up notes of honeyed pineapples, minerals, and flowers, but it is much more timid than its younger sibling. Rich, pure, and deliciously textured in the mouth, it reveals more on the palate than in its aromas, which should develop more nuances with additional bottle age. Sadly, production of this brilliant dry white proprietary wine is a minuscule 250 cases. (RP)" (6/2005) 91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "(16. ...Read More »

Representing the only white wine produced by Dirty and Rowdy in the 2015 vintage, this bottling blends together grapes in the following breakdown: 28% Chenin Blanc, 22% Pinot Blanc, 18% Chardonnay, 12% Melon, 10% Roussanne, 10% Viognier. The fruit has been sourced from Monterey, El Dorado, and Mendocino counties, and as always, the winery encourages you to drink this freely with your favorite fried chicken.
Virginia Boone of Wine Enthusiast raves: "Rhône specialist Bill Easton began making Muscat à Petits Grains in 1995, inspired by his love of Muscat de Beaumes de Venise. A wine he creates only in certain years, it’s a deliciously balanced delight of apricot and honey-nectar flavors with a crème brûlée richness. It pairs perfectly with fresh fruit and cheese, as a first course with foie gras or with fruit or nut desserts."
From the winery: "Grown at the Biodynamic Filigreen Farm in alluvial soils of gravel & clay loam. Breaking preconceived notions has long been a rewarding result with our wines. The Ramato (skin ferment) Pinot Gris from the Biodynamic Filligreen Farm is no exception. With up to five days on the skins this wine boasts a dimensionality and depth that may surprise and the attributes Tracey describes as "Funkytown" will delight those who enjoy a more adventurous palate. "
92 points Vinous: "The 2015 White Wine (Sonoma County) is absolutely gorgeous. Sweet, floral aromatics lead to apricot, lemon confit, jasmine and mint. Beautifully perfumed throughout, the 2015 offers a compelling interplay of exotic fruit, lifted aromatics and pliant texture. Not surprisingly, it has much in common with the white blends of Friuli. The 2015 is all class. (AG)" (7/2016)
91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Cote de Tablas Blanc, which includes less Viognier than normal, checks in as an even split of Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Marsanne. It's a perfumed, elegant and textured white that offers lots of citrus and saltiness as well as more background notes of chamomile, flowers and spice. It will shine on the dinner table, and while I'd lean toward drinking bottles over the coming couple of years, it will evolve for longer. (JD)" (8/2016) 91 points Vinous: "Light bright yellow.
