Sexy is the only word to describe it. Drink in 2020." (1/2017) 92 points Vinous: "Ample, generous and inviting, the 2013 possesses striking richness and intensity. This won’t need years to come around but it also shows staying power. Drink 2019-2027" (2/2017) 90 points Vinous: "A dense, powerful wine, the 2012 Barolo Prapò shows plenty of Serralunga muscle. So wonderful now but give it three or four years to come together still." (3/2016) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "With fruit sourced from various points within the Castiglione Falletto township, the 2012 Barolo Castiglione continues on its promise to offer a solid drinking experience based purely on quality Nebbiolo. Slightly better than the already excellent 2011. Try in 2020." (3/2016) 91 points Vinous: "Bosco Agostino's 2012 Barolo La Serra is a very pretty La Morra Barolo. Dark cherry, tobacco, smoke, licorice and leather are front and center. The La Serra tannins, often quite pronounced in wines from this site, are nicely integrated. Full and polished tannins. Better in 2019 but so delicious now." (3/2016) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pio Cesare has produced a small miracle with the 2012 Barolo. Best from 2020 through 2036. 800 cases made." (1/2017) 93 points Vinous: "Seghesio's 2012 Barolo La Villa is laced with pretty savory and floral notes. Bright red cherry, raspberry, white pepper, chalk and blood orange give the 2012 a lifted, sculpted feel that is quite appealing. Then smooth and sweet in the mouth, but with terrific energy keeping the red fruit and tobacco flavors fresh and primary. Sweeter and more elegant in style than the 2009, but this fine-grained, firmly tannic wine really shut down in the glass. Outstanding potential here." That said, I am amazed how bright and primary the fruit still is. Sweet, perfumed aromatics lead to a core of silky fruit as this elegant, pedigreed Barolo emerges from the glass. Darkly concentrated and rich, it sets the stage beautifully for 2009 Barolo thanks to its enormous grace, power and elegance. Where it really wins praise, however, is in the mouth. A note of sweetness from the French oak lingers on the finish. In 2004 the Parafada is aged in a mix of 40% cask , 30% 500 liter barrels and 30% 225 liter barrels. It is an impressively endowed, full-bodied Barolo with a multitude of tar, smoke, mocha, vanilla, mint and sweet dark fruit flavors that coat the palate with superb depth and persistence. Cocchi Barolo Chinato (500ml)

Pronounced key-knot-o. To begin with, this specialized wine product will not appeal to every wine drinker out there. This explosive, heady Barolo bursts onto the palate with seamless layers of ripe dark fruit, black cherries, menthol, cinnamon, pine and minerals, revealing profound depth and richness. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Giacomo Conterno "Cascina Francia" Barolo (98VN, 97RP, (91-94ST), 90WS). Vinous: "The 2004 Barolo Cascina Francia boasts staggering depth and explosive intensity from the very first taste. One of the most brooding, backward 2004s, the Cascina Francia is one of the only wines in this vintage that I am slightly disappointed to have opened, as it is so intensely backward. Hints of sage, tobacco, menthol, rose petal and graphite open up in the glass, recalling just how mesmerizing the 2004 was in cask. At once silky, while at other times virile, the 2004 Cascina Francia is constantly changing in the glass. The multiple shades of nuance and complexity are those of Nebbiolo from a great site as expressed by one of the region's historic families. The price of Monfortino has escalated rapidly over the last few years, but by comparison, the 2004 Cascina Francia is still available in the market and represents a good relative value. 2013 E. Pira Chiara Boschis "Cannubi" Barolo (Pre-Arrival)

96 points Vinous: "The 2013 Barolo Cannubi is silky, vibrant and wonderfully perfumed. Sweet floral notes, meld into a core of bright red cherry, mint, white pepper and white flowers. (AG)" (2/2017) 93 points James Suckling: "The purity of fruit to this is impressive. Strawberry, blueberry and lavender aromas follow through to a medium to full body, firm ...Read More »
