1983 Raymond Lafon, Sauternes

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is a magnificent wine. Light golden, with a wonderfully pure tropical fruit aroma of ripe pineapples and melons, this decadently rich, full-bodied wine has layers of viscous, sweet fruit, an astonishing finish, and excellent balancing acidity. The wine remains stubbornly slow to evolve. Anticipated maturity: Now-2020. (RP)" (1/1998) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Extremely harmonious, so complex it keeps you going back for another sip in a vain attempt to pick out the fruit flavors. Medium gold, unabashedly lush and ripe, with complex sweet fruit, oak and tobacco. The finish echoes ...Read More »

2001 Coutet, Barsac (375ml)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Here is a typical Coutet nose that is just beginning to find its groove: barley sugar and quince scents typifying Barsac, augmented by Seville orange and lime. The palate is viscous and extremely well focused with fine mineralité and tension. It feels quite youthful and linear vis-à-vis its peers and concludes with a tangy, marmalade-lavished finish. This is ageing nicely though at the same time, I would suggest that the Baly family have surpassed this with subsequent vintages. (NM)" (10/2014) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Subdued but pure aromas of mirabelle, peach, pear and pineapple ...Read More »

1983 Doisy Daene, Barsac (375ml)

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Doisy-Daene finished its harvest 1 month after d’Yquem, and has possibly produced this property's finest wine in over two decades. A big, ripe bouquet of pineapples, peaches, and spring flowers is very attractive. On the palate, the wine is concentrated, full bodied, and unctuous, without being too heavy or alcoholic. Excellent acidity suggests a long, eventful evolution. (RP)" (3/1990) Wine Spectator: "A pleasant drink and there's even some complexity, but it's not cuddly. Light gold, waxy and sulfury on the nose, sugary sweet, oak, honey, pear, apricot on the palate. ...Read More »

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A tremendous effort from Fieuzal, this exceptionally rich, dry white offers up aromas of honeysuckle, orange marmalade, roasted herbs, figs, and melons. Medium to full-bodied, exceptionally concentrated, with great definition and zestiness, this impressive effort should have 20-25 years of longevity. (RP)" (04/2003)

2015 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, Pessac-Léognan

97-98 points James Suckling: "Very balanced and fresh with stone and dried peach aromas and flavors. Very aromatic. Full body, fine phenolics and licorice. Shows power and richness." (3/2016) 93-96 points Vinous: "The 2015 La Mission Haut-Bion Blanc is deep, powerful and intense, yet with no excess heaviness. A vertical, structured white, the 2015 possesses remarkable depth along with a spherical expression of fruit that is a joy to behold. The aromatics haven't begun to develop yet, but there is time for that. Plenty of time. This is an especially rich, concentrated white that is going to require a bit of ...Read More »
