1979 Suduiraut, Sauternes

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the top 1979s, Suduiraut has produced an uncommonly rich, deep, powerful wine for this vintage. The wine is medium golden, with a ripe, toasty, caramel and apricot-scented bouquet, full body, plenty of viscous fruit, and a long finish. (RP)" (1/1998) K&L Notes: "With a lengthy history comes a list of accomplishments and triumphs. Such is the case for Château Suduiraut, which dates to the 17th century. Not only did Suduiraut achieve First Growth status in the classification of 1855, they also were one of the pioneers in grafting vines onto American rootstock to... Read More »

1970 Suduiraut, Sauternes (high shoulder fill)

According to Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A deep amber colour and a Beerensauslese-lite nose that is well defined, although lacking some botrytis. There are scents of Satsuma, beeswax and just a little chlorine. The palate is commendable, well balanced, a little ginger on the entry leading to a balanced palate with orange rind, Seville orange marmalade, almost Barsac-like on the finish." (08/11)

1975 Coutet, Barsac

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Every bit as good as the more open-knit and expressive 1976, the 1975 is lighter and more typically Coutet in its proportions, with a graceful, fresh taste, very good concentration, and years of evolution ahead. (RP)" (1/1998)

1983 Filhot, Sauternes (375ml)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is an attractive, lighter-weight Sauternes without any evidence of serious botrytis. The wine possesses straightforward, flowery, ripe quasi-viscous flavors presented in a medium-bodied format....Last tasted, 4/86. (RP, 1998) ... Dark golden/yellow hue. An intense nose of honey and marmalade with evidence of little botrytis. Lacks definition on the palate that has notes of marmalade and dried apricot. Fades at the finish. A good, if unremarkable Filhot. Drinking now. Tasted May 2002. (Neil Martin)" Wine Spectator: "Distinctive, complex pine-nut, cedar, quince and fig ...Read More »

2001 Coutet, Barsac (375ml)

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Here is a typical Coutet nose that is just beginning to find its groove: barley sugar and quince scents typifying Barsac, augmented by Seville orange and lime. The palate is viscous and extremely well focused with fine mineralité and tension. It feels quite youthful and linear vis-à-vis its peers and concludes with a tangy, marmalade-lavished finish. This is ageing nicely though at the same time, I would suggest that the Baly family have surpassed this with subsequent vintages. (NM)" (10/2014) 93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Subdued but pure aromas of mirabelle, peach, pear and pineapple ...Read More »

2015 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, Pessac-Léognan (Pre-Arrival)

97-98 points James Suckling: "Very balanced and fresh with stone and dried peach aromas and flavors. Very aromatic. Full body, fine phenolics and licorice. Show power and richness." (3/2016) 93-96 points Vinous: "The 2015 La Mission Haut-Bion Blanc is deep, powerful and intense, yet with no excess heaviness. A vertical, structured white, the 2015 possesses remarkable depth along with a spherical expression of fruit that is a joy to behold. The aromatics haven't begun to develop yet, but there is time for that. Plenty of time. This is an especially rich, concentrated white that is going to require a bit of b ...Read More »
