2016 l'Avocat Blanc, Graves Top Pick!
2016 l'Avocat Blanc, Graves

L'Avocat is in the small commune of Cerons, which is located just north of Barsac and Sauternes in the southern Graves appellation. The vineyards were purchased by Nicola and Sean Allison in 2002; the fruit was previously sold to Mouton Rothschild. At 300 feet above the Garrone River, the vineyards have stunning views of the lovely Côtes de Bordeaux. The vineyard's elevation is a key factor in its great drainage, and the soil is loaded with different color gravel that imparts textbook minerality to both their whites and reds.

2016 La Graside Blanc, Bordeaux

Another of the fine wines of Dominique Robin, Le Blanc de la Graside is sourced from a vineyard three miles south of Libourne that is planted with 60-year-old Sauvignon Blanc vines. Grapes are harvested at full maturity and aged in casks to round out the wine's generous profile, while it retains a mineral-driven finish.

2016 Reynon Sauvignon Blanc, Bordeaux Top Pick!
2016 Reynon Sauvignon Blanc, Bordeaux

87-90 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh, with a jicama edge backed by light white peach and honeysuckle notes. Quick finish. (JM, Web Only-2017)" Vinous: "The 2016 Reynon Blanc is soft, pleasant and caressing, but with only modest depth and complexity. The orchard fruit, white flower and pear are nicely delineated. In 2016, the Blanc is tasty, but not quite the overachiever it can be. (AG)" (4/2017)

2015 Carbonnieux Blanc, Graves

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This wine has a wonderful citrus character, fresh lemons and limes going with the mineral texture. It is crisp while also structured, bright with acidity and zesty with lemon and orange. The aftertaste is herbal, crisp and bright. Drink from 2022. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (4/2018) 92 points Decanter: "Great definition, this has soft white flowers with a graphite kick on the finish. Floral aromatics add a lift – this is one of the fresher whites of the vintage. 2016 Clos Floridène, Graves Blanc

89-92 points Wine Spectator: "Taut, with pink grapefruit zest, white peach and verbena notes backed by a steely hint on the finish. (JM, Web Only-2017)" Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "For reasons unknown, I did not taste the Clos Floridene 2016 Blanc during en primeur, but hey, you just have to wait a few weeks and the wine is bottled and ready to go. It has a restrained nose, one that does not leap out of the glass like the Doisy-Daëne Blanc that I compared it with. This takes longer to unfurl, with cooking apple and subtle walnut notes. One of the best whites from here in a while. 55% sauvignon and 45% semillon. Drink or hold." (2/2018) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Ripe and spicy, this is a smoothly textured wine. 2015 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc, Pessac-Léognan (Pre-Arrival)

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "If I had to pick the white of the vintage, it would be the 2015 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc from proprietor Olivier Bernard. Based largely on Sauvignon Blanc (there’s around 30% Sémillon) and from a 6-hectare parcel located just outside of Léognan, it offers sensational notes of citrus oil, liquid rock, caramelized limes, and a huge chalky/flinty minerality. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, yet with bright acidity, it should drink well for 2-3 decades." Shows energy and brightness. Drink now or hold." (2/2018) 90-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Larrivet Haut Brion Blanc, a blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon, did not quite deliver the requisite complexity and vivacity on the nose compared to the likes of La Tour Martillac or Olivier this year. It has six grams per liter of residual sugar and the pH, a sizzling 3.20. It has an intriguing bouquet of melted wax, white flowers and hints of sea spray, that marine influence becoming quite strong with aeration.
